In all fairness, you only asked "how" so that's the only answer required.Yes. But for 'how', there coulf be lots of answers, while for 'who' only one correct. So I explained him what I meant. I didn't change the question... just looking for an answer. Like when you asking 'where was Menegroth' one can say 'Ea', I wouldn't except that either.

What mistake was the undoing of Sarumans plot against Gandalf?
Telcontar_Dunedain
09-07-2004, 11:35 AM
It wasn't a mistake of Sarumans. It's just that Radagst saw no reason not to do exacly what Gandalf said.
Spock

Oops! Sorry I didn't get to this sooner - but I'm on much less on weekends. Happened to pop in and saw it just now.
On the 'Appendix Trivia' thread, I try to allow up to 72 hours before sort of making it 'fair game' - or opening the floor to another person to post a question. If you folks want to adopt that guideline for this game as well - it's always seemed pretty fair to all parties for me.
So - don't have time right now, but will attempt to get something on by my 72 hour limit. If I haven't, anyone else is welcome to post.
Halbarad of the Dunedain
09-12-2004, 04:58 AM
Well then I take it Spock is up... So... if he doesn't come around soon, anyone who wishes to ask I tink should be free to keep this thing going.

Q: Who were believed to have strange powers of sight and hearing, and to understand the languages of beasts and birds?
It's Val's go not Spock's and Val still has over 2 days to post.
Actually - my time was up, but I still got this in before anyone else asked the next question (so I re-took the open floor). The 72 hours should begin from the time the answer is confirmed as correct.

Valandil
09-12-2004, 07:21 AM
The rangers of the North, the Dunedain!?
Correct - although it just says 'Rangers' - those of Bree, who believed these things, didn't know them to be Dunedain
Halbarad of the Dunedain
09-12-2004, 07:28 AM
I figured it was rangers, though I think even the Breelanders had an understanding of the difference between regular rangers and those of the Dunedain, even if they didn't know what the "Dunedain" were. Also on this matter I find it quite strange that People of bree are so clueless. The area where bree is used to be Arnor, and I am sure that a lesser bloodline of the Dunedain still runs through some of the Men that live there. Shouldn't they have some understanding of Arnor, Gondor, Numenor, and the Dunedain!? Anyhow, since it is my tune to ask the question....
How many hobbit "clans" does Bilbo welcome at his birthday party speach!? An extra point if you will actually name them all!

Yep. You're right Val. I remember the Ohtar question being asked about 3 times already. There was a thread, and I don't know if it's active, called Tolkein-Middle Earth Quiz in the ME forum. That includes everything Tolkien, and you could really get obscure, except you could get into some conflicts about what was Canon and what wasn't. I will try to find that thread, if not start another one.
OK. Last one, and I'm outta here:
