trying to think of the context of this comment... probably a hobbit... merry to aragorn at the prancing pony? maybe?
if not merry then it's bound to be pippin :D
Radagast The Brown
03-30-2004, 08:36 AM
The quote is correct. :) The speaker is not Merry nor Pippin.
Artanis
03-30-2004, 08:41 AM
Sounds like hobbits for sure. Frodo?
Radagast The Brown
03-30-2004, 08:42 AM
No, not Frodo.
Valandil
03-30-2004, 08:48 AM
*shot in the dark*
Gandalf?
Artanis
03-30-2004, 08:49 AM
But it can't be Sam!
Could it be - Gandalf? He's the only one I can think of except the hobbits who would give blessings for pipe-weed. :p
Edit: Ah - beaten!
Radagast The Brown
03-30-2004, 09:07 AM
Yes, Gandalf. :)

Artanis

Wrong words: 'good', 'master', 'high'.
"What does /C_r_a_/ know of our /_a_s/, who dwell nigh to the Enemy?
_e_/ the /_a_i_e_/l_o_/ to his /_h_p_!/

Boromir? (I don't recall him saying this, but it seems to fit)
Artanis
03-30-2004, 12:17 PM
I take it you mean Cirdan, not Cirsan. :p
One wrong word: 'havens'.
And speaker is not Boromir.
Radagast The Brown
03-30-2004, 12:25 PM
'waters' instead of havens. Speaker is Turin.
Valandil

Oops... sorry, Cirdan!
Speaker: Denethor???
Sister Golden Hair
03-30-2004, 12:33 PM
Last two words:
'mariners' and 'waters'?
Artanis
03-30-2004, 12:33 PM
Rad, you're right about 'waters', but not about Túrin. And it isn't Denethor either.
Ooops! There's one more word wrong, 'days'. Sorry I missed it the first time.
"What does Cirdan know of our /_a_s/, who dwell nigh to the Enemy? Let the /_a_i_e_/ look to his ships! But if in truth the lord of waters/ would send us counsel, let him speak more plainly. 'mariners' 'ways'?
Artanis
03-30-2004, 12:35 PM
SGH, it's 'mariner', but not 'ways'.
Radagast The Brown
03-30-2004, 12:37 PM
'wars'?
Artanis
03-30-2004, 12:49 PM

except it doesn't always work, so should be
'I before E except after C, and sometimes other letters aswell, so make up your own mind, and check with a dictionary later'

NOW you're correct! Good job - and don't worry about it. You were carrying over another error anyway, weren't you? So - congratulations on taking your first quote! (and welcome to the game... always good to have another player)
Now it's YOUR turn to post a quote!
Here's a suggestion: It may sound like more work, but believe me, it's faster, easier and more accurate... type in the entire quote, with slashes '/' instead of spaces between words and before and after punctuation marks. THEN, go back and delete every other letter and replace it with the underscore '_'... that ends up being much easier than trying to type every other letter, using spaces as you go. :)

Oh... in that case, don't be surprised if the thread is four quotes further along when you get back to it. Players like to keep THIS game moving... so if someone thinks they got it right, and look it up, it's considered 'fair game' to post the next one and just move it along.
That way, the Aussies get to play! :p :D ;)

Yeah - I didn't really remember that 'Noodles!' - but it came to mind and the letters fit, so I tried it! :D
Good work on getting some more words, still a few wrong:
'Nor' before 'seldom' is not correct.
'has' before 'given' is not correct.
And... didn't notice this at first, but the 'was' after 'Stone' is not correct.
So... a few small words to clean up - then a few more yet to solve! :)

Speaker is not Gimli... and to be technical; 'dared' and 'treasures' are not correct. Otherwise, you're all good. :)
