Continued from here (http://entmoot.tolkientrail.com/showthread.php?p=245112).

**Correcto** Your go.

...sorry for the delay....house guest in computer room. Back to normal now. :D

Telcontar_Dunedain
11-30-2004, 12:50 PM
Who put in more than the daily firewood allowance into the fire, in the Shire?

Manveru
11-30-2004, 06:39 PM
that was Pippin

Telcontar_Dunedain
12-01-2004, 02:56 AM
It was! Your go. :)

Manveru
12-01-2004, 10:29 PM
What were the names of the other 2 eagles that went with Gandalf and Gwaihir after the Quest was achieved and picked up Frodo and Sam?

Spock
12-02-2004, 01:03 PM
Landroval & Meneldor

Manveru
12-02-2004, 06:37 PM
yep :)

Spock
12-02-2004, 08:22 PM
Here's a goodie. When did Faramir first hold hands with Eowyn? Read carefully my precious.

Radagast The Brown
12-03-2004, 07:56 PM
IU suppose this is a tricky question. :p

When they were standing on the walls of Minas Tirith watching the east? When Frodo destroyed the ring at thet same time?

Spock
12-04-2004, 03:16 PM
Not what I was looking for, yet accurate. YOUR GO. :)

Radagast The Brown
12-04-2004, 05:49 PM
What is the name of the road in Mordor where Frodo and Sam passed between Ered Lithui and Ephel Duath?

Spock
12-05-2004, 12:08 PM
The M-4? :D

Radagast The Brown
12-05-2004, 05:51 PM
So you have a problem with 'road'? Fine then, let it be 'way' or 'passage' or something like that. :p anmd you knew what I meant. *points on Spock with blame*

Spock
12-06-2004, 11:03 AM
...jeesh, lets not get confused, I was yolking  but thanks for the hints.

Spock
12-06-2004, 11:10 AM
the Harad road?

Manveru
12-06-2004, 05:41 PM
the Morgai?

Radagast The Brown
12-06-2004, 06:00 PM
The Harad road? Isn't it just the road from Harad to Gondor?

And I think the Morgai are mountains in Mordor..

So... no to both.

mallondwen
12-09-2004, 06:14 PM
the Morgul-way???

Spock
12-09-2004, 06:27 PM
[QUOTE=Radagast The Brown]The Harad road? Isn't it just the road from Harad to Gondor? QUOTE]

It's mentioned and shown on the map as more than just that. :(

Spock
12-09-2004, 06:32 PM
you don't mean carach angren, do u?

Spock
12-09-2004, 06:41 PM
OR Sauron's Road. Gadz this is tricky.

Radagast The Brown
12-09-2004, 06:51 PM
I noticed it in the map, Spock. In the map I saw it's just the way from Harad to Gondor....

Carach Angren it is... It's just a passage though, not a road, isn't it?

Spock
12-10-2004, 02:31 PM
Yes it really is just a passage or way through and not a road. So do I go???????

Radagast The Brown
12-10-2004, 06:16 PM
Right. :) Yup, it's your turn now..

Spock
12-11-2004, 04:29 AM
ok, a tired me places this question into play: Eomer advised how long it would take to walk from the stonewain valley and Din. What was that time period.?

mallondwen
12-11-2004, 08:06 PM
’Wild Men go quick on feet,’ said Ghân. ‘way is wide for four horses in Stonewain Valley yonder,’ he waved his hand southwards; ‘but narrow at beginning and end. Wild Man could walk from here to Dîn between sunrise and noon.’

‘Then we must allow at least seven hours for the leaders,’ said Éomer; ‘but we must reckon rather on some ten hours for all. Things unforeseen may hinder us, and if our host is all strung out, it well be long ere it can be set in order when we issue from the hills. What is the hour now?’

that took me forever to find, it had better be right. lol. :D

Spock
12-12-2004, 12:12 PM
MOST EXCELLENT! That's the doggedness we need on trivia.

You go. :)

mallondwen
12-22-2004, 09:44 AM
cool, sorry it has taken so long to reply but I have been a bit busy recently, I will be back in a little bit with a question, I just did not want you to think I had forgotten.

mallondwen
12-22-2004, 02:17 PM
ok, question time:

what was the final words of Frodo before sailing from the Grey Havens and who were they to?

Telcontar_Dunedain
12-22-2004, 05:05 PM
Was it naming Sam's children to him and telling him he will be Mayor.

Pytt
12-23-2004, 04:50 PM
I think it was Come now, ride with me( the words might be a little wrong, but I have only a Norwegian book) and it was directed to Sam.

mallondwen
12-24-2004, 05:20 PM
correct pytt, your turn.

Pytt
12-27-2004, 05:35 PM
sorry about not posting...
but here it is:
What suggestion made Imrahil under the last counsel of war, which Gandalf was very much against?(clumsy sentence?)

Radagast The Brown
12-27-2004, 06:08 PM
I suppose it was retrieting and fortifying in Minas Tirith... or any other fort?

Pytt
12-27-2004, 06:12 PM
No not exactly.

Radagast The Brown
12-27-2004, 06:23 PM
Right - no fortifying, but waiting till Sauron attacks, not being able to fight back?

Pytt
12-27-2004, 06:28 PM
no I can say is has something to do with the attack on Mordor, if that is a hint...

mallondwen

sorry about not posting...
but here it is:
What suggestion made Imrahil under the last counsel of war, which Gandalf was very much against?(clumsy sentence?)

My guess would be:

"'Then you would have us retreat to Minas Tirith, or Dol Amroth, or to Dunharrow, and there sit like children on sand-castles when the tide is flowing?' said Imrahil"

Pytt
12-28-2004, 04:20 PM
looks like there are two different answers to this, I didn't remember that one.
the one I am looking for is a suggestion made of Imrahil about how to attack Mordor.

mallondwen
12-30-2004, 07:31 PM
ok, in that case, I give it a final go, the only other thing I could think of or find was this:

...Imrahil suddenly laughed aloud. 'Surely,' he cried, 'this is the greatest jest in all the history of Gondor: that we should ride with seven thousands, scarce as many as the vanguard of its army in the days of its power, to assail the mountains and the impenetrable gate of the Black Land! So might a child threaten a mail-clad knight with a bow of string and a green willow! if the Dark Lord knows so much as you say, Mithrandir, will he not rather smile than fear, and with his little finger crush us as a fly that tries to sting him?'

'No, he will not try to trap the fly and take the sting,' said Gandalf. 'And there are names among us that are worth more than a thousand mail-clad knights apiece. No, he will not smile.'

Pytt
01-02-2005, 01:15 PM
looks like I have chosen a difficult one :o or maybe not so difficult, but..
the one I'm looking for, I don't know if there are more clues to give, but it is a bisentence, and there are others who also think of the suggestion, but Imrhail is the only name written..

Telcontar_Dunedain
01-02-2005, 01:25 PM
I thought it was the one that mallondwen said about retreating to Minas Tirith or Dol Amroth or Dunharrow and sit like children on sand castle while the tide comes in.

Pytt
01-02-2005, 01:39 PM
yes, since there is a long time since I'ce read the book, it seems like I have forgotten about the one Mallodwen and RtB says. is none guess the one I am looking for, then I pass Mallodwen as the right one.

Radagast The Brown
01-02-2005, 04:52 PM
pytt, I'm not sure what you mean... as Imrahil talks only 3 times during the last debate. 2 of the time were quoted here. The third is not a suggestion Gandalf opposes. So...?

Pytt
01-02-2005, 05:17 PM
no, it is not like that. sorry if I have explained it wrong, which I ceartainly have..., but it is not like a quote in that way. it is somehting others and Imrahil says, only Imrahil is mentioned, and Gandalf says that will aware Sauron of Frodo and Sam.

Last Child of Ungoliant

Going through the Pass of Cirith Ungol

Spock
01-03-2005, 12:35 PM
May I suggest that Pytt by his own admission may not have explained it correctly in English and after such a continued confused question, he either reword it or withdraw.
I say this with consideration for Pytt as I too have asked difficult questions but I'm not dealing with a second language.

okeday, new question:

How does Sam locate Frodo when he is held captive in Dol Guldor? What does he [Sam] say, exactly?

I hope this does not prove to be as tricksy as the last question, but I too am looking for something in particular.

Spock
01-03-2005, 05:29 PM
He had give up looking for Frodo and sat down in the corridor below the towers top room. Actually he sang old childish tunes out of the Shire and snatches of Mr. Bilbo's rhymes that came into his mind. His last tune started "Beyond all towers strong and high"

Spock

OH, now that's unfair. "In western lands beneath the Sun the flowers may rise in spring. the trees may bud the waters run the merry finches sing or there maybe 'tis cloudless night and swaying beeches bear the Elven-stars as jewels white amid their branching hair. Though here at journey's end I lie in darkness buried deep beyond all towers strong and high beyond all mountains steep, above all shadows rides the sun and stars for ever dwell I will not say the day is done nor bid the stars farewell."

*applauds* well done, you may go now.

Spock
01-06-2005, 01:57 PM
ok, EASY ONE, when they took to the road towards the Isenmouthe, how far did Frodo & Sam go before their first rest stop?

eyesofsorrow

Oh, no!! Please disregard this, I can't figure out how to delete and I thought I was in a different forum! I'm very sorry.

Spock

OK four whole days and no one could answer this. HOORAY :)

Meriadoc Brandybuck
01-10-2005, 01:24 PM
That was when they were captured by orcs, wasn't it? It would be one week then, I think.

Spock
01-10-2005, 02:26 PM
Merry, you are INCORRECT :( but since you're the only one who responded to my "no post in days" message....YOU GET TO ASK the next question... Happy New Year.

ItalianLegolas

no one responded in 4 days??? wassup with that?

Radagast The Brown
01-10-2005, 05:00 PM
Well, it took me some time to figure what Isenmouthe is. :p I'm not sure now either... is it Carach Angren? If yes, I'm not sure when they took the road towards it... but I was never knowledgeable in that area.

Meriadoc Brandybuck
01-11-2005, 05:14 PM
Merry, you are INCORRECT :( but since you're the only one who responded to my "no post in days" message....YOU GET TO ASK the next question... Happy New Year.
Thank you! :) Easy one:
How many days did Aragorn tell the Wardon of the Houses of Healing to keep Eowyn there?

ethuiliel
01-12-2005, 12:13 AM
I think it was a fortnight... so that would be 14... and I'll feel like a really lousy Faramir/Eowyn fan if I'm wrong...

Spock
01-12-2005, 10:58 AM
..gee I always thought a fortnight was ten days...not answering just commenting :'

Radagast The Brown
01-12-2005, 04:41 PM
I think it's one week...

Pytt
01-12-2005, 04:54 PM

Spock

*"restrain her for at least ten days" * I was right, now I await you. :)

ethuiliel
01-12-2005, 07:17 PM

Last Child of Ungoliant

fortnight = 2 weeks thus 14 days

ok, but my answer is correct.

Meriadoc Brandybuck
01-14-2005, 12:59 PM
What three weapons did most of the Dunedain carry?
A sword, bow and arrow, and a knife?

Telcontar_Dunedain

Two are correct.

mallondwen
01-14-2005, 01:44 PM

Telcontar_Dunedain

Lenya

Twista
01-22-2005, 03:13 PM

Last Child of Ungoliant

To make him a Rider for Rohan?

Last Child of Ungoliant
01-22-2005, 06:38 PM
i'll give you that,
the actual title was 'Knight of the Riddermark',
but it means the same

Lenya
01-22-2005, 06:54 PM
Cool. Ok here goes.

At the council of Elrond there was a certain Elf sent there on an errand by Cirdan. What's his name?

Last Child of Ungoliant
01-22-2005, 07:00 PM
strictly speaking, that would be fellowship trivia, not return of the king trivia, but the answer would be galdor

Lenya
01-22-2005, 07:07 PM
Oh yes, sorry :o but you're right.

Last Child of Ungoliant
01-22-2005, 07:10 PM
Who is the Lord of Lossarnach?
(Name and Nickname please)

Lenya
01-23-2005, 05:56 AM
Forlong the Fat.

Last Child of Ungoliant
01-23-2005, 10:22 AM

How many days was Eowyn supposed to stay on bedrest according to the Warden of the Houses of Healing?

ethuiliel
01-26-2005, 07:03 PM
I feel like we just had this...though I suppose it could have been somewhere else. I'm pretty sure it was 10.

Spock
01-26-2005, 07:35 PM
Yes, it was asked within the past two weeks. :)

mallondwen
01-27-2005, 12:50 AM
oh, I suppose I missed that one. I will change my question then, the answer was seven. new question:

to what do the Elves have no answer, according to Legolas?

I realize that this would be very dificult to find so here is a hint: is in the chapter, The Last Debate.

Spock
01-27-2005, 08:42 AM
Indeed, a great question. The elves say yes and no in the same answer.

mallondwen
01-28-2005, 03:20 PM
very true, but that is not the answer I was looking for, sorry.

Spock
01-28-2005, 04:40 PM
:( actually it was an observation and not intended as an answer.

Spock
01-31-2005, 04:28 PM

His name was Ingold.

Telcontar_Dunedain
02-04-2005, 12:15 PM
I asked that questions a few weeks ago.

Last Child of Ungoliant
02-04-2005, 07:16 PM

yes
i think i have ran out of ideas for questions :D

Nah, you just need a breather. Take the day off and thumb through your book. :)

Pytt
02-05-2005, 11:09 AM
well, I'm in fact a bit empty for questions myself, so here goes an easy one:

Where lays the Druadan forest?

Radagast The Brown
02-05-2005, 04:11 PM
It's just north to the eastern part of Ered Nimrais.

Twista
02-07-2005, 02:19 PM
I though it was built near one of the beakons. Is that the same place?

Spock
02-07-2005, 02:29 PM
It lies 30 miles northwest of Minas Tirith. It's where the "Woses" come from.

Pytt
02-07-2005, 04:45 PM
It's just north to the eastern part of Ered Nimrais.

Sorry for taking so long, but my internett has been away. I think Radagast gets it, since he answered first :)

Sorry for taking so long, but my internett has been away. I think Radagast gets it, since he answered first :)

So were we all correct?

Spock
02-07-2005, 04:50 PM
Indeed it appears so :(

Radagast The Brown
02-07-2005, 04:58 PM
What rivers are mentioned as ones that the Dunedain (with Legolas and Gimli) passed in their way to Pelargir (before the Pelennor fields battle)?

Pytt
02-07-2005, 05:02 PM
Yeah, all three were right, but since RtB answered first, he got it. though your Twista was a bit unspecific.

Last Child of Ungoliant
02-09-2005, 07:40 PM
ciril, ringlo, celos

Radagast The Brown
02-10-2005, 05:41 PM
Ciril and Ringlo is correct, Celos isn't. There's one more you didn't say.

Last Child of Ungoliant
02-10-2005, 05:44 PM
lets try erui

Radagast The Brown
02-10-2005, 05:50 PM
No.. :)

Spock
02-15-2005, 02:52 PM
OK GUYS, five days, how about a compromise and letting Last Child give our next question?

Pytt
02-15-2005, 02:57 PM
I agree with that.

Radagast The Brown
02-15-2005, 04:44 PM
Alright, then. :) Your go Chrys..

Last Child of Ungoliant
02-15-2005, 05:49 PM
i can't now :( i losted my books, sorry :p

Spock
02-15-2005, 06:14 PM
RTB-go ahead and give us one of your famous questions. I'm off for the day, fighting the flu.

Radagast The Brown
02-15-2005, 06:29 PM
Yes, sir. :p Hopefully you'll feel better tomorrow. :)

Ok... What did Pippin and Merry wore in Cormelan field after the distruction of the Ring? (what colors)

Last Child of Ungoliant
02-15-2005, 06:45 PM
sable and green?

aaaah i answered!! :p

Radagast The Brown
02-15-2005, 06:52 PM
Each one is described by 2 colors. :) I want both. :p

Sable is one of the colors of Pippin, Green one of Merry's. :)

02-18-2005, 05:17 PM
technically, black is sable!! :p

Radagast The Brown
02-18-2005, 05:18 PM
technically, black is sable!! :pI actually wasn't sure. The translation said 'black', but I supposed that if it's 'sable' in the English version there would be a difference.. But it really doesn't matter then, as it's wrong to the other one. :)

Spock
02-20-2005, 12:02 PM
Actually not on the Field of Cormallen but in that chapter they served the kings; one wearing silver and sable (guards of Minas Tirith) and one white and green.

Radagast The Brown
02-20-2005, 05:45 PM
Correct.. okay, didn't know. :) Your turn.

Spock
02-21-2005, 11:27 AM
To what question did Gimli reply (in part) "Beyond the eyes of the Dwarves are such foretellings".
and now back to taking more medicine. :(

Spock
02-27-2005, 01:43 PM
Six days and no one answered. Someone pose another question please. I'm taking the rest of the day off. :)

Spock
03-02-2005, 03:00 PM

Pytt
03-02-2005, 03:02 PM
I've read it, but I haven't got the guts to look for the answer.. :o

Count Comfect
03-02-2005, 03:20 PM
I don't know either, but just to keep the thread going, I'll guess...

Legolas asking if he'll agree to visit Fangorn with him in exchange for a visit to Helm's Deep?

Spock
03-02-2005, 03:28 PM
..sign, nope. Say Count, how about you just posting another question. They probably are good and stumped anyway.

Radagast The Brown
03-02-2005, 03:59 PM
Huh! I looked for it and found it - Gimli.

Count Comfect
03-02-2005, 04:03 PM
I'd do it, Spock, but I don't have a RoTK around :(

RtB, you want to?

Radagast The Brown
03-02-2005, 04:25 PM
Where did the Gondorians go, via the old way in Druadan that Ghan-Buri-Ghan showed them, by him?

Carafin
03-02-2005, 06:49 PM
Would they have been headed to the Fields of Pelennor with the Rohirrim?

Last Child of Ungoliant
03-02-2005, 06:52 PM
thestonewain valley, though that was the Roheryn not the Dunedainic forces :o

Radagast The Brown
03-04-2005, 10:50 AM
Errr... I'm afraid my question wasn't explained well. What I meant was, where did the Gondorians , the ones that made the road years over years before it was used in the War of the Ring, plan to go that way.

Spock
03-05-2005, 01:33 PM
They used it to go down to Din and back at the end to Horsemen's road.
The road went through Drudadan to Rimmon.

Radagast The Brown
03-05-2005, 01:36 PM
Yes. :) Your turn Spock.

Spock
03-05-2005, 01:40 PM

Meriadoc Brandybuck
03-10-2005, 03:41 PM
Something like: 'Say not "The Lord of Gondor come" but "The King has come". he didn't say exatly that, though.

Spock
03-10-2005, 04:46 PM

Telcontar_Dunedain

Meriadoc Brandybuck
03-11-2005, 12:37 PM

What did the Lord of the Nazgul say when Eowyn said, 'Begone, foul dwimmerlaik, lord of carrion! Leave the dead in peace!'?

"Come not between the Nazgul and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in they turn. He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked to the Lidless Eye." ....whew! :D

Spock
03-28-2005, 03:15 PM

03-28-2005, 03:18 PM

L.C.O.U. while your answer is full of details it does not contain the answer as presented in the question. try again...somebody.

Telcontar_Dunedain
03-29-2005, 06:08 AM
I would have said that the hammer was the Rohirrim and the anvil was Aragor, Legolas, Gimli, the Dead and the host of Dol Amoroth.

Spock
03-29-2005, 08:53 AM
..sigh :( .....I'm using a quote here guys and gals, picky but we've got to have a few of these as we've used all the obvious ones. It's there.

Radagast The Brown
04-02-2005, 04:13 PM
Between Imrahil and knights of Dol Amroth and the Riders of Rohan? I found it in the book.. the Battle of the Pelennor fields, page 829.

Spock
04-03-2005, 10:59 AM
RTB-You always come through. You must have the One volume containing all of the Trilogy as my '66 version has three books and it is on page 150 there. Nevertheless, congradulations on finding it. YUGO :)

Spock
