Is it a trick question because there's no such place as Minus Tirith bcause it's called Minas Tirith? :p
Spock
11-06-2005, 11:23 AM
True. All has been corrected-it wasn't a trick question, rather hasty Ent post.
Keep trying, Please :(
Acalewia
11-07-2005, 06:41 PM

Spock
11-08-2005, 08:10 AM

Telcontar_Dunedain
11-08-2005, 03:05 PM
No and no.
Serenoli
11-09-2005, 11:08 PM
Wasn't this question posted once before? Either way, it was some messenger of Theoden who said it to Merry, I think.
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-10-2005, 12:50 PM
Merry is right, but I want the name of the person who said it.
Serenoli
11-11-2005, 12:00 AM
Well, you forced me to look it up, but I believe its Elfhelm, the Marshal of the eored Merry rode in.
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-11-2005, 04:02 AM
That is correct. Your go Serenoli.
Serenoli
11-12-2005, 01:40 AM
What was the password for Frodo to let down the ladder for Sam in the orc tower?
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-12-2005, 10:43 AM
Elbereth.
Serenoli
11-12-2005, 11:23 PM
Seems only you and I are here! I think you're right... someone borrowed my LotR books, so I tried to set sth easy that I would remember... so its your turn Telcontar..
Serenoli
11-12-2005, 11:27 PM
Seems only you and I are here! I think you're right... someone borrowed my LotR books, so I tried to set sth easy that I would remember... so its your turn Telcontar..
Spock
11-13-2005, 11:27 AM
You two just happen to be on more weird hours than most of us :D
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-13-2005, 02:03 PM
Why was that chosen as the password?
Spock
11-13-2005, 03:13 PM
Why was that chosen as the password?
Because no orc would say that.
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-15-2005, 01:00 PM
Correct. Spock isn't going to be around for a few days so someone else takehis go. If no one posts within 24hrs, I'll post the next question.
Acalewia
11-15-2005, 01:08 PM
How many Rules did the Hobbits break the first night they returned home?
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-15-2005, 01:16 PM

Acalewia
11-17-2005, 02:18 PM

Spock

Telcontar_Dunedain

Telcontar_Dunedain
11-22-2005, 04:44 PM
Who was the first one to say that Eowyn wasn't dead after her battle with the WK?
Serenoli
11-25-2005, 08:24 AM
I know who he was, but I can't remember his name... its SO frustating... he was a Prince, and he was from a neighbouring kingdom to Gondor... but his name eludes me. I remember he held up his hand over her face, and her breath made a mist on his armor, so they knew she was alive... what WAS his name... did it start with an 'A'?
Butterbeer
11-25-2005, 08:40 AM
prince imrahil?
...if right ..serenoli!!! ..after just being reminded dol amroth wasn't around third age 50, too!!! ;) :)
course, i may be wrong!
edit: i thought lobelia was one of the last more recent ones thrown in the lockholes??
wasn't it the mayor? ..one of the first ..will whitfoot??? or something like that....
ah well, anyways ... ;)
Serenoli
11-26-2005, 12:26 AM
Yep, Imrahil was that elusive name!!! And I suppose I was thinking of 'A' because of Dol Amrath. But it was precisely because I was reminded that I forgot... so when I thought of the prince of Dol Amrath, I also thought, 'nah! you just think that because its been buzzing around your head lately!'
BTW, I heard TD won't be around for a while... I suppose you might just as well post your question, BB.
Butterbeer
11-26-2005, 06:49 AM
But it was precisely because I was reminded that I forgot...
heh, Serenoli, that's a classic .. mind if i use it for bumble one time? :D
nah, i'll wait for official ok!
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-27-2005, 06:23 PM
Official ok is here. Sorry for the delay guys. Your go BB.
Butterbeer
11-28-2005, 04:04 PM
s'alright , anything "official" always takes a while in my experience ...
anyways i wasn't around meself yesterday ...
mmm ... a ROTK trivia question?
"theres something of everything" to be found at rivendell, ... except what???
Lotesse
11-28-2005, 06:41 PM
Except Nazgul? ;) :D No Nazgul in Rivendell, that's 4 sure!
Spock

Butterbeer
11-28-2005, 09:40 PM
well "Spocko" or "spockyman" has it, Durinsbane 2244 ...
were you answering the question btw or just messing around?
yes, lotesse, you don't see that many wraiths around Rivendell these days ... ;) as CS said in the passing of the grey company LOTR discussion project ... after the nazgul heroically got rid of the ring from midddle earth they rather dropped out of things ...
well Done, Spock .... :) here's an unnnaturally fast Official "oky-doky" thingy ....
over to you ...
durinsbane2244
11-28-2005, 10:17 PM
blast...i was messing around and answering at the same time...well, well, spocko,[shakes fist in the direction he imagines spock to be] you may have one the battle, but you'll most likely win the wa-...wait, no, that didn't come out right...foiled again, eh? anyway:
1. yes, i like giving people, especially spock to bug 'im, nicknames...
2. yes spock, i just made up a war in trivia that never existed and i will most likely forget about right aboooouuuut....now....er, what was i saying? :D
Spock
11-29-2005, 08:37 AM

Easy one. If the Ring fails, then what will be no refuge?
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-29-2005, 10:20 AM
Was it The Shire?
Spock
11-29-2005, 03:05 PM
Was it The Shire?
Correctomundo. :)
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-29-2005, 06:17 PM
How many Dunedain passed through the Paths of the Dead?
Lotesse
11-29-2005, 06:46 PM
You mean, all total, including the poor buggers who preceded Aragorn, the guys who never made it?
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-29-2005, 07:45 PM
The ones that pass through it during RotK.
durinsbane2244
11-29-2005, 09:55 PM
was it 21?
Butterbeer
11-30-2005, 08:30 AM
How would i know??
..you can't expect me to know things like that!
*places advert for passing of the grey company lord of the rings discussion thread ala Greywolf style* :D
dunno, mjust be somewhere close to 21 ... iguess.
Valandil
11-30-2005, 09:21 AM
I don't think there were any Dunedain who went through before. From the appendices, we can deduce whose remains were found along the way. ;)
I think it was 31 (or was it 32?). Halbarad's company was 30, then there was Aragorn, of course. :)
Telcontar_Dunedain
11-30-2005, 12:36 PM
31 it was Val your go. I thought the Aragorn part may trip someone up but apparently not.
Valandil
12-03-2005, 01:01 AM
Yeah - I just didn't remember for sure if the ones from the north totalled 30 - or if it was Halbarad plus 30 others.
Sorry for my delay in getting back - had one pretty full week and minimal time here.
OK - a question:
How many miles was it from the Brandywine Bridge to Bag End?
Butterbeer
12-03-2005, 09:21 AM
easy ... between 1 and 1,000
...heh, you never asked for it exactly! ;)
edit***
actually there were 32, halbarad had thirty with him, thus plus hal and Aragorn there were 32 ... but not to worry. ;)
thus speaketh the current keeper of the tomes of the passing of the grey company
which incidentally trivvers, here gathered, is being discussed in the LOTR discussion project even as we play ... get your lazy butts over there and join in the discussion! :p :D ;)
best all, BB :)
Spock
12-03-2005, 12:31 PM
OK - a question:
How many miles was it from the Brandywine Bridge to Bag End?
Gads, it was 22 miles from the bridge to Frogmorton but that's all I can remember..... :(
Serenoli
12-06-2005, 04:32 AM
Three days and no reply! Spock, maybe you should pm Val, or try a question yourself?
Spock
12-06-2005, 08:19 AM
I gotta wait at least another day as Val was around late yesterday and I did PM him. If nothing by Wed. I'll make a post and hold my ears. :)
Valandil
12-06-2005, 08:33 AM
Oh I've been checking.
How about someone try the right answer? :p ;)
Spock
12-06-2005, 08:37 AM

durinsbane2244
12-11-2005, 10:28 PM

Valandil
12-11-2005, 10:32 PM
No dice.
Let me know when you find it. :)
Spock
12-12-2005, 12:34 PM
;) Good for you Val- we gotta keep 'em on their toes.
How about DB posting the next question as he's raring to go. :D
Lotesse
12-12-2005, 07:20 PM
Twenty miles?
durinsbane2244
12-12-2005, 09:54 PM
yay! i'm raring! [does the "i'm raring" dance] ok, down to buisness, who is the first enemy to ever set foot past the gates of gondor, and why doesn't gandalf face said enemy?
Serenoli
12-13-2005, 02:22 AM
The Gates of Gondor? I'm not sure what that means... shouldn't it be the gates of Minas Tirith?
I think the answer in that case would be the Witch-King of Angmar, and Gandalf didn't face him because he had to go rescue Faramir from the homicidal Lord Denethor.
durinsbane2244
12-14-2005, 08:44 PM
yes, correct, sorry about that, shoulda been minis tirith, i was sick, and when i get sick, i sometimes get slightly delirious, which impares my thinking ability a tad...
Serenoli
12-14-2005, 11:36 PM
yes, correct, sorry about that, shoulda been minis tirith, i was sick, and when i get sick, i sometimes get slightly delirious, which impares my thinking ability a tad...Thats perfectly all right, and I hope you get well soon :)
And the new question is:
How many were there in the army that Aragorn finally took with him to face Mordor?
Lotesse
12-14-2005, 11:39 PM
Was it seven thousand? I should remember this; it was a question here a few months ago...
Serenoli
12-15-2005, 11:21 PM
Yes, its your turn, Lotesse. :)
Funny, isn't it, how you and I are hogging the RotK and TT trivia threads! :D
Spock
12-16-2005, 09:55 AM
It just shows how much life the rest of us have and how little you two have :D
Lotesse
12-16-2005, 01:14 PM
Aw, Spock; always such a sweetie! I'll make a question later on this afternoon; I have a lot to do today. I finally got moved into a new place! Lotta unpacking & stuff 2 do...
Spock
12-16-2005, 01:18 PM

Ok, question...
Name the beacons of the North.
(Hint: there are seven)
King of The Istari
01-13-2006, 12:06 PM
Amon Din
Eilenach
Halifirien
Calenhad
Nardol
Erelas
Min Rimmon
that was hard!
Serenoli
01-14-2006, 02:16 AM
I'm sorry it was so hard, I knew you would have to look it up!! But its your go now, King of the Istari! :)
King of The Istari

ok then, what did Beregond become after Aragorn was pronounced King?
durinsbane2244
01-15-2006, 06:30 PM
the captain of the white company [not sure of the color], who is faramir's guard.
King of The Istari
01-16-2006, 04:40 PM
the captain of the white company [not sure of the color], who is faramir's guard.
That is Very Much Correct!
durinsbane2244
01-16-2006, 08:38 PM
wicked. what does aragorn say at his crowning [any or both tongue] and who said it first?
Lotesse
01-16-2006, 09:42 PM
He says, "FINALLY! It's about time. Now let's party!" Which had originally been spoken by Sauron when he'd discovered that his precious One Ring had finally resurfaced. :D
I'm unsure as to the translation of this into Elvish.
King of The Istari
01-17-2006, 09:05 AM
it was said previously by elendil when he came to middle earth and its: out of the great sea to middle earth I am come. in this place I shall abide and my heirs till the end of time

durinsbane2244

i love when this happens, all i have to do is say "how bout a question?" than spock somehow magically appears [his durin senses are tingling] and awards me the next go...righteous...
anyway, why were some of the nazgul not present at minus tirith?
Telcontar_Dunedain
01-22-2006, 09:23 AM
Khamûl and possibly another were defending Dol Guldur and there were two in Mordor, one was in charge of Cirith Ungol, and another flew over Frodo and Sam in Gorgoroth.
King of The Istari
01-22-2006, 05:21 PM

Spock
01-28-2006, 01:02 PM

01-31-2006, 12:12 PM
Post a new one ASAP, it's usually only 5 days we wait.
Spock
01-31-2006, 08:15 PM
Even 5 days is too long. We normally allow 72 hrs. or 3 days.

03-15-2006, 05:11 PM
Gordis, my mistake. I thought Borlas was mentioned in ROTK. Maybe he was not born yet. :) He is a character in The New Shadow (Peoples of Middle-earth, p. 411): "One of these was old Borlas of Pen-arduin. He was the younger son of Beregond, the first Captain of the Guard of Prince Faramir, who had removed with his lord from the City to the Emyn Arnen."
Ask the next question.
Gordis
03-16-2006, 10:44 AM
My bad, didn't remember the New Shadow too well...
Perhaps the next question should be yours?
Anyway, here is mine:
How old was the Mouth of Sauron? (Give a rough estimate and explain why).
Spock
03-17-2006, 06:47 PM
Anyway, here is mine:
How old was the Mouth of Sauron? (Give a rough estimate and explain why).
Weird question, IMO.
..."it is told that he was a renegade, who came of the race of those that are named the Black Numenoreans; ....for they established their dwellings during the years of Saurons domination."
sorry but I don't have a calendar to do the actual counting. :p
Gordis
03-17-2006, 07:01 PM
Not so weird, Spock, there is another hint futher on in the same paragraph - a reference to an event that can be dated :)
Spock
03-17-2006, 09:32 PM
Not so weird, Spock, there is another hint futher on in the same paragraph - a reference to an event that can be dated :)
...hmm, maybe the remark...."...he entered the service of the Dark Tower when it first rose again".....
still no calendar but maybe this will help someone guess correctly
Gordis
03-18-2006, 03:26 AM

Udukhaturz
03-18-2006, 05:19 AM

Spock
04-05-2006, 02:48 PM

Spock
04-08-2006, 11:16 AM
Well twelve days is a long time to go without any interest.
If we don't get some input soon, these trivia topics will be closed temporarily to give everyone a chance to think up some good, new questions.
