Whether or not Dwarves would ever be able to re-inhabit and rebuild Moria?

So, as Lotesse was at least running down the right path :) I'd like to offer her the opportunity of asking the next question.

Go get 'em. Lotesse.

...gee, Lotesse isn't around.....what to do?

Pytt
05-13-2005, 03:49 PM
Go another time Spock. Give it a try again ;)

Spock
05-14-2005, 11:01 AM
Who called the hearalds to marshall Rohan.?

Lotesse
05-14-2005, 12:54 PM
Was it Erkenbrand?
I put my question on the wrong thread; there's another trivia thread around here - the trilogy thread. Oh, well, my bad.

Lotesse
05-14-2005, 01:16 PM
BTW, Spock, why you gotta yell, man? Calm down...

Spock
05-14-2005, 02:56 PM
Lotesse, I gotta "yell" 'cause everyone is asleep on the threads. :D No one in days and days.
Anyway I'm glad you're now on track. HOW ABOUT (see just getting your attention) YOU pose a question for us all.......forget my question for now. I want to give a new member a chance. OK.

Lotesse
05-14-2005, 03:25 PM
O.K, thanx Spock - I'm going to pose the same question I put out on the wrong thread; here goes:
Where was the first place Gandalf went after he became "the White", and how did he get there?

Spock
05-14-2005, 03:29 PM
GREAT QUESTION: Now let's all try to remember, guess or peek at our books. :D

Earniel
05-14-2005, 03:39 PM
I'm guessing Lothlórien, and being brought there by Gwaihir.

Lotesse
05-14-2005, 03:51 PM
Gwaihir's right, and Lothlorien is ALMOST right, but not exact...

Lotesse
05-14-2005, 06:17 PM
Actually, Earniel, you are correct - Gwaihir brought him to Lothlorien - It's your turn, now :)

Earniel
05-15-2005, 11:58 AM
Okay. :)

Lemme think...

What was the first thing Sam asked when he awoke after the destruction of the Ring?

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-15-2005, 04:10 PM
What time is it and where am I?

Spock
05-18-2005, 10:32 AM
Okay. :)
What was the first thing Sam asked when he awoke after the destruction of the Ring?

Gee, in my memory and even checking the book, he didn't sleep. When Gollum fell into the abyss he said, "master, your poor hand........" The next time he spoke was in the chapter "The field of Cormallen" and it starts out with him saying "yes I am with you Master" in response to Frodo's statement.
So, is this what you were looking for????

CerinAmroth
05-20-2005, 03:57 PM
Then it wasn't a dream! Is everything sad going to come untrue? What's happened to the world?

Oh dear...I don't think thats completely right, but I think I'm headed in the right direction.

Lotesse
05-20-2005, 07:05 PM
Spock is right. In the movie, if that's what you might be referring to, Sam never says a line again after the destruction of the Ring, not until years later in Frodo's study while Frodo's writing and rubbing his perma-wound, and this is when Sam finally actually says a line - "Mr. Frodo? What is it?" and then Frodo says "it's been four years to the day" blahblahblah.
There are quite a few meaningful glances, and a kiss to his new bride on their wedding day, but - says?

Last Child of Ungoliant
05-21-2005, 04:51 AM
yes, thats as well may be, but we are in the books forum :D :D :D

Spock
05-21-2005, 12:26 PM
So then, I go. Hooray :D

Who said: "what's your size in hats now?"

ethuiliel
05-21-2005, 12:31 PM

Bilbo, I think....

Spock
05-21-2005, 12:34 PM
Nope.

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 12:44 PM
Was it Merry in ref. to Pippin from drinking the ent draught, the ent-water?

Spock
05-21-2005, 12:47 PM
Sorry :( it wasn't.

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-21-2005, 02:12 PM
That would be Fatty Bolger.
Spock, I'm not sure your last answer is correct, but I suggest we leave it unless Eärniel really wants a correct answer. I may however be completley wrong, if that is the case just ignore me!

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 06:38 PM
O.K., Earniel - I reffed the book about the first thing Sam says after he awoke after the destruction of the ring; I found that he says "Bless me! How long have I been asleep?"
I like to play these trivia questions from pure memory, but it looked like you were gonna get passed over, and besides you got me wondering, so I looked it up.

Spock
05-21-2005, 06:52 PM
That would be Fatty Bolger.
Spock, I'm not sure your last answer is correct, but I suggest we leave it unless Eärniel really wants a correct answer. I may however be completley wrong, if that is the case just ignore me!

Telcontar-gee I am sorry about this, I thought I was correct and so went ahead. Your answer to MY question is correct.

As for the original question, I re-checked my edition ('68) and the answer I gave is correct. No where does it say he awoke...remember the question I answered said "immediately".

So now Telcontar can go or Earniel can decide.

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 08:04 PM
Spock? The thing about Sam waking up I found in my edition which I only just bought like 2 months ago at Barnes&Noble; the part where he first says something is in the chapter The Field of Cormallen, chapter IV, right after the paragraph that starts "And so it was that Gwaihir saw them" blahblahblah
Check it out - would this be the first thing Sam says after he awakens after the Ring has been destroyed? That part I quoted before, I mean?

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 08:10 PM
also, about the first thing Sam says - if you mean IMMEDIATELY after the Ring was destroyed, he said "Master! Your poor hand! And I have nothing to bind it with, or comfort it " yada yada yada which is the last segment of the chapter Mount Doom, Ch III.

Spock
05-22-2005, 12:10 AM

Immediately after the ring is destroyed, both Sam and frodo are awake, Sam is worried about Frodos hand. Then after they crawl away a bit and were picked up by the eagles

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-22-2005, 04:49 AM
Lotesse is right Spock, It does say that Sam awoke in the Chapter 'The Field of Cormallen'.

EDIT: Anyway, we are meant to wait for confirmation, before the nxt question is asked.

Earniel
05-22-2005, 07:10 AM
Sorry to have kept you all waiting, I'm pretty much stuck in the 'moot only in weekends' time table due to work at the moment. Lotessë came up with the answer I was looking for. I had asked specifically for the first thing Sam 'asked' and not what he first said and she was the first to give the answer I was looking for.

Anyway, sorry to have caused so much confusion. I better stay away from trivia games in the future if I don't have time to check up on them within days.

Spock
05-27-2005, 03:08 PM
How about a mild toughy? :) Who said: "Speak not words of omen" ?

Lotesse
05-27-2005, 03:20 PM

We had set three days (72 hrs.) as the maximum time period to supply an answer before giving the go to another participant way back in the beginning of Trivia. Sorry you didn't know that.

Radagast The Brown
05-28-2005, 11:40 AM
I think she was referring to what Lotosse said -
if he doesn't say anything over the next hour or so, why don't you take it, Spock?

anyway - What was Aragorn doing when Pippin "watched the madness in th eyes of Denethor"?

Lotesse
05-28-2005, 03:50 PM
Wasn't he busy dealing with the ghosts in the Dwimorberg at that time?

Radagast The Brown
05-29-2005, 04:47 AM
He wasn't in Dwimorberg... and dealing with ghosts is a bit too general.. :)

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-29-2005, 05:57 AM
Was he taking control of the ships at Umbar?

Radagast The Brown
05-29-2005, 10:47 AM

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-29-2005, 03:29 PM

Hmm, let's see...
Theoden - King of the Mark
Deorwine, chief of Theoden's knights
The Witch King of Angmar
Grimbold, one of Theoden's marshals
Halbarad the Ranger-guy

So many fell that day, you know? This list could go on and on.

Butterbeer

Good! but not yet correct!

Telcontar_Dunedain

How about this.
Theoden - King of the Mark
Forlong of Gondor
The Witch King of Angmar
Grimbold, one of Theoden's marshals
Halbarad the Ranger

And if one of them is wrong then Duilin fell aswell.

Spock
07-02-2005, 12:28 PM
Well, I'm too pooped to do a linear chart but wasn't the Witch King from the First Age?

Butterbeer
07-02-2005, 09:23 PM

Lotesse
07-14-2005, 12:28 AM
