About Vingardium Leviossa, then. (sp. - It's from memory, and I didn't read the first in English so...)
Count Comfect
03-21-2004, 05:11 PM
Just to help on spelling, Wingardium Leviosa (in the English version at least). :)
Sorry, I'm a pedant.

Radagast The Brown
03-22-2004, 07:10 AM
What did Ron and Harry gave Crabbe and Goyle, so that they would fall asleep and then Harry and Ron could take a hair from each to the polyjuice potion?
sirigorn
03-22-2004, 09:36 AM
Pastries filled with sleeping solution.
Orli17
03-22-2004, 11:53 AM
chocolate cupcakes filled with simple Sleeping Draughts?
basically same answer as sirigorn....
Radagast The Brown
03-22-2004, 04:51 PM
What's pastries? ehmm... if it means choclate cakes, you're correct.
Lalaith_Elf
03-22-2004, 06:06 PM
Pastries arn't the same as cake. Pastry is used for stuff like vol-au-vants (bad spelling I know) and other stuff like that. Totally different to cake.
Sorry - just thought I'd point that out....
sirigorn
03-22-2004, 10:17 PM
Oh, I didn't remember exactly what kind of food it was in, so I just said pastries. It's up to you whether Orli or I get it, Radagast.
Orli17
03-23-2004, 11:58 AM
dusn matter who gets it.....so uh Radagast...who's supposed to ask the question now???:)
Radagast The Brown
03-23-2004, 05:34 PM
I think that Orli, if you don't mind. :)
Thanks Lalaith Elf.
sirigorn
03-24-2004, 09:18 AM
Okay, then Orli. Your turn!!
Orli17
03-24-2004, 01:44 PM
ok then ^_^
ok this is sort of a two in one question.
1)When does Harry first hear about Rita Skeeter?
2)When does he actually first meet her?
hope its ok by asking those two.:)
Radagast The Brown
03-24-2004, 03:21 PM
He first hear of her when he and the Weisley's (sp.) come back from the Quiditch world championship, and first meet her in the wands weighting. (if you don't understand something...tell me, I'm not sure, I haven't read it in English)
Lalaith_Elf
03-24-2004, 03:31 PM
That's pretty clear to me. I had a total mind-block on this one.....
EDIT: This isn't relevant but I thought I'd share it since RTB mentioned not reading HP in English - I have it in Latin.:D

I just felt like saying I had it in Latin... actually I forgot I had it, you just reminded me, and I'm in a wierd mood tonight so I just feel like sharing stuff.:p

Lalaith_Elf
03-24-2004, 04:27 PM
My wierd moments appear alot.
No I haven't read it in latin, unfortuanatly. I don't actually know how to read latin. Although I am learning, slowly but surely!:)
sirigorn
03-24-2004, 07:03 PM
I have it in Dutch!! Well, I have OotP in Dutch and my sister has SS/PS, CoS and PoA in Dutch. And before you ask, no I haven't read it in Dutch. I've tried, but I can barely even speak Dutch, and that's how I normally use it!!
And just to be on topic... Orli, I'm pretty sure Radagast was right, but you have to confirm it first. Was he?
Orli17
03-24-2004, 10:43 PM
hey! yes Radagast was right...i'm sorry i couldn't confirm earlier..was a tad bit busy....:D

Lalaith_Elf
03-25-2004, 03:25 PM
Yeah, back on topic....:o
Um, it's Radagast's turn right?
Radagast The Brown
03-25-2004, 05:04 PM
Yes, it is.
When Harry was at Knockturn Alley (2nd year) and saw Draco Malfoy in the store, Draco paused for a few moments to examine an object. What was it?
Arcala
03-25-2004, 05:44 PM
Was it...the Hand of Glory or something along those lines?
sirigorn
03-25-2004, 08:33 PM
I think Arcala waas right, but just venturing a guess. Was it the cabinet thing Harry was hiding in?
Orli17
03-26-2004, 04:11 AM

Arcala
03-26-2004, 07:20 PM

A Re'em???
Eowyn, Lady of Rohan
03-28-2004, 10:59 AM

Elf Girl
03-30-2004, 06:35 PM
Rephrasing the question (and I think your English is quite good, by the way): The Intarnational Confederation of Wizards made a law saying every wizard could carry a wand at all times. What year did they make this law?
sirigorn
03-30-2004, 08:50 PM

I'll ask a question someone can get from memory:
Which Quidditch team does Dumbeldore support?

Radagast The Brown

Elf Girl
04-12-2004, 03:09 PM
It's not pink. There have been no correct guessed, according to Orli17.

Elf Girl
04-13-2004, 04:31 PM
Spattergroit. (Incidentally, medieval Europeans did indeed think freckles were a disease by this name.)
Arcala
04-14-2004, 06:16 PM
Really? That's interesting. :D
Your turn, Elf Girl.
Elf Girl
04-15-2004, 03:07 PM
Tell me something that Uric the Oddball did.
Arcala
04-15-2004, 04:31 PM
Was he the leader of a goblin revolt?
Elf Girl
04-15-2004, 07:25 PM
I don't believe so.
Fimbrethil
04-16-2004, 12:00 AM
He didn't do anything did he? Ron made him up becasue he couldn't remember all the goblins, I think.
sirigorn
04-16-2004, 08:05 AM
No, he was real. He was a medival wizard who wore a jellyfish for a hat.
Fimbrethil
04-16-2004, 11:33 PM
Really! He didn't did he? What book was that in?
Orli17
04-17-2004, 05:53 AM
That's interesting....i've never heard o that b4.....uric the oddball was real?? hmmm...i can't remember where i read about that...anyways all waiting for Elf Girl :D
sirigorn
04-17-2004, 10:38 AM
I have no idea which book that was in, but I know of a wonderful thing called the Harry Potter Lexicon that has every single person mentioned in the books and out of them, on chocalate frog cards, etc. It also has stuff about places and has timelines and I can't begin to explain how wonderful and helpful it is. This is where it's at: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/

I'm fairly sure I'm right (but not positive) because It says so in the Fantastic beasts and Where to Find them book. But Let's wait for elf girl.
Orli17
04-25-2004, 03:34 AM
well i dunno WHAT to say....hmmmm:confused:
Elf Girl
04-25-2004, 04:00 PM
:o Guys I'm SO sorry... I was whisked away to the grandmother's house for a week... forgive me...
Sirigorn was correct, despite the fact that I highly dislike people using Internet sources to find answers. Really, people. Part of the sport is having to know where in the books to look.
Orli17
04-26-2004, 02:42 AM
i hate that too....also actually i thought this was based more on what you know rather than how well you can look up a book...anyhoo..not complaning :D
sirigorn
04-26-2004, 08:52 AM
Yeah, I normally hate it also but no one was answering and I had no idea where to look for it, so I just looked at where I did know where to find it. Sorry about that.
Now, I hope no one will have to do what I did for this one, because it's really easy:
Name all the Gryffindors we know of in Harry's year.
Orli17
04-26-2004, 10:34 AM
Boys: Dean Thomas, Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnnigan, Ron Weasley
Girls: Lavendar Brown, Parvati Patil, Hermione Granger
hmm...i think i mighta left someone...you read about em so often that you forget who's in which class!!!:D
sirigorn
04-26-2004, 04:59 PM
You did leave someone out... look through the boys. It's really obvious!! I dunno how you missed him...
sun-star
04-26-2004, 05:05 PM

But I think Orli was close enough :)
sirigorn
04-27-2004, 05:42 PM
I really was hoping that Orli would be next to post, because she almost had it, but if you think she should go next, I say go for it!!
sun-star
04-28-2004, 03:45 AM
Oops, sorry :o Go ahead, Orli.
Orli17
04-28-2004, 07:12 AM
it's alright Sun Star....
yea i knew i missed someone but for some reason i was thinking that i didn't need to put harry's name. i wasn't even gonna put hermione or ron until i realized how stupid i was....hahaha ...lol
ok my turn then....
What two Auror-qualification tests did Tonks mention(OOTP) and what three other elements that is required of Aurors, did McGonagall mention ?
:D cheers!!
Elf Girl
04-28-2004, 03:51 PM
Tonks- Concealment and Disguise; Stealth and Tracking.
McGonagall mentioned an awful lot, so I'll hazard a guess at what you're looking for- Good at DADA, Transfiguration, and Potions?

Elf Girl
04-29-2004, 03:27 PM
*shrug* Sure. You can see how it would be hard to discern which three things you want.
She said they'd need to react well to pressure, have perseverance & dedication, be good at practical defence.

Elf Girl
05-17-2004, 06:43 PM
People? It doesn't MATTER if Count Comfect was correct, because The Ben's question was not valid, because it was not his turn, because no one had answered my question yet.
sirigorn
05-17-2004, 07:59 PM
I'm so sorry, Elf Girl. I hadn't noticed that no one answered, I just figured that The Ben answered a question right.
Is the answer... 1726?? Once agian, just a guess. I can't find my copy of FB.
Can you tell us if we're close?
Elf Girl
05-18-2004, 08:41 PM
No. Think more recent.
(Never assume The Ben does anything right- check out his title.)

Fimbrethil
05-22-2004, 10:28 PM
1842? Hehe....less recent or more recent and were any of us close with what we said before?
Elf Girl
05-23-2004, 12:19 PM
No. You want to go more recent. The closest so far is sirigorn at 1950.
sirigorn
05-23-2004, 01:44 PM
1976?
Elf Girl
05-23-2004, 07:58 PM

sirigorn
05-24-2004, 05:03 PM
There've been a lot more then 3 guesses, and we're so close I want to get it!! If Elf Girl says it's time for a new question, she can do that. Otherwise, we keep guessing!!
Elf Girl
05-24-2004, 05:10 PM
Since when do we start over after three guesses?
1960 and 1965 are SO CLOSE.
Radagast The Brown
05-24-2004, 05:13 PM

Elf Girl
05-24-2004, 07:24 PM
Yes, it was 1963.
In the first post it certainly doesn't say three guesses... but I haven't been around for the whole thread, so a consensus may have been reached without me around.
Eowyngirl14, it' your turn.
eowyngirl14
05-24-2004, 07:32 PM

sirigorn
05-26-2004, 08:30 PM
No, she's right. Remus's is John. And did you know that Ginny's full name isn't Virginia, it's Ginerva? Sounds too much like Minevra to me...
Well, your turn.
eowyngirl14
05-26-2004, 09:40 PM

What do you mean by which book? 1 through 5 or a book they have mentioned in books 1 through 5?
Elf Girl
06-01-2004, 03:01 PM
What book, like, in the wizarding world. Books like Hogwarts: A History or Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2. (Not that the answer is either of these books.)
Orli17
06-02-2004, 02:15 AM

Radagast The Brown
06-05-2004, 04:41 PM
Ok. :)
What was the name of the hotel, where the Dursley's and Harry slept, in the first year when Mr. Dursley was trying to escape the letters from Hogwarts?
parker1cincy
06-08-2004, 02:00 PM

Elf Girl
06-14-2004, 01:08 PM

old scholar
06-14-2004, 07:36 PM

Elf Girl
06-19-2004, 11:52 AM

06-24-2004, 04:05 PM
Could somebody just post a question? Sorry for the impatience, but this thread has been ON HOLD since 6/08/04.
Radagast The Brown
06-28-2004, 11:42 AM
Who found Colin pertified, and why was he awake in the middle of the night?
Elf Girl
06-28-2004, 03:48 PM
McGonagall, he was coming to visit Harry. (And give him grapes.)
Radagast The Brown
06-28-2004, 03:51 PM
Actually, the 'he' was for the person who found him; it wasn't McGonagall.
Elf Girl
06-28-2004, 10:27 PM
'Another attack,' said Dumbledore. 'Minerva found him on the stairs.'
'There was a bunch of grapes next to him,' said Professor McGonagall. 'We think he was trying to neak up here to visit Potter.'
Harry's stomach gave a horrible lurch. Slowly and carefully, he raised himself a few inches so he could look at the statue on the bed. A ray of moonlight lay across its staring face.
It was Colin Creevey....
That's from CoS. It sure looks like it was McGonagall to me, and I don't think it says why she was up.
Elf Girl
06-28-2004, 10:38 PM
Perhaps you were referring to how Harry found Justin Finch-Fletchley and Nearly Headless Nick. It wasn't night, though, so I can't answer the rest of the question.
Radagast The Brown
06-29-2004, 04:18 AM
Heh, I didn't read that - I read, a couple of lines later, where McGonagall says:
'Petrified?' whispered Madam Pomfrey.
'Yes', said Professor McGonagall. 'But I shudder to think... If Albus hadn't been on the way downstairs for hot chocolate, who knows what might happen...'
what does she mean then?
I guess it's your turn, Elf Girl. :)
Elf Girl
06-30-2004, 10:27 PM
Bizarre. Some sort of error? I guess both answers would be right. :)
On what floor in Hogwarts can you find a tapestry with Barnabas the Barmy on it?

Radagast The Brown
07-05-2004, 11:37 AM
Draco Malfoy. But you need to answer the question that was asked already by Elf Girl before asking a new question. And wait til she says you're right.
Elf Girl
07-05-2004, 03:35 PM
Orli17 was correct. Kiddstodd, that means ORLI asks the next question.
Orli17
07-06-2004, 09:41 AM
yaaaaay!!!
ok let's see.
Which village did the Riddles live in before they were all murdered?
sirigorn

07-08-2004, 09:43 AM

Orli17
07-08-2004, 10:48 PM
Two books.....Standard Book of Spells Garde 5 n sthg else that has to do with DADA.....guess my answer's incomplete....
sirigorn
07-08-2004, 11:26 PM
Yes so far. The DADA one is the boring one Umbridge made them read that Hermione disagreed with. Just a hint.
~Siri~
Orli17
07-09-2004, 03:18 AM
Sthg like Defensive Theories or sthg? Had to do with theories for sure cuz umbridge kept mentioning THAT!!! hahaha.....ok...

sirigorn
07-09-2004, 10:48 AM

You can look for the answer on www.hp-lexicon.org

Radagast The Brown
07-13-2004, 01:56 PM
Doesn't the questions suppose to be taken from the books?
Elf Girl
07-13-2004, 04:11 PM
Finding the answer online is allowed (since there's no way to stop it), but personally I frown upon it.
(Why would the giver of a question tell us where to find the answer, anyway?)
Radagast The Brown
07-13-2004, 04:35 PM
Yes, it's a bit weird...
So the answer can be found in the books as well?
Happy Birthday, btw. :)
Orli17
07-18-2004, 12:31 AM
The answer was given to you to find......it's up to you whether you want to use the resource or not. I mean the questioner should be able to say whether you're allowed to use internet sources or not. What i frown on is using internet resources WITHOUT the permission of the questioner.
Cheers!:D
