I was inspired my good friend, Glorfindel's poem so I had a go at one myself.
"The Lord of the Ring" sung to the tune of the Lord of the Dance Chorus repeated several times cos I can’t remember the rest of the tune.
Come then, whoever you may be,
I am the Lord of the Ring said he,
And I’ll lead you all to Mordor’s mystery,
And I’ll lead you all by the Ring said he.
Come then, Pippi-in and Mer-r-y,
I am the Lord of the Ring said he,
And I’ll eat with you… supper and aft’noon tea,
And I’ll eat with you if it don’t get fiery.
Come now? Where’s the wizard that knows me?
Heeee’s stood me-e-e up at the Pran-cing Pony,
And now it’s too late, cos Pippin has told he,
A-a-and when I fell, I rather hurt my knee.
Who’s that fellow, who won’t stop looking at me,
I think he needs to-o stay off the coffee,
But he seems to help, specially when I hurt my knee,
Hop’fully he knows what to do with the ring given to me.
Come then, Bill the Po-ony,
I ca-an’t think of a use for thee,
But if you don’t come, Sam will be mad with me,
Cos for some reason, he thinks your pally.
Come then Arwen, b’fore I turn to a stiffy,
Though I think that the black, wo-ould really suit me,
But I don’t like horses, as shown with the pony,
And being so dead, I wo-ould bound to get wiffy.
Now at Rivendell, I meet Leg’as and Gimli,
They all seem to ha-a-ave plaits but me,
I used to like my hair but now Im abit iffy,
I now need a straightner, to stop b’ing so curly.
Now we have ev’ryone, lets get on with our journey,
I think my companys cool, but Bor’mir’s a maybe,
I don’t like his attitude, he may steal the ring from me,
Oh look now he’s dead, and I am now free.
AND ONE FOR LATER:
Come then, through the marshes that we see,
Though I kno-o-ow Sam, that they are rather stinky,
But those faces are dead, no nee-ed to worry,
Though the look on them really makes me want to pee.
Feel free to make more verses and reply with feedback!

but you inspired me and I got busy doing this one:
Your Ring
by Arathorn
(adapted from Elton John's Your Song)
(Original Lyrics by Bernie Taupin)
It's a little bit fiery the writing inside
I don't quite dig tengwar, and that I don't hide
Neither do I speak dark tongue, but boy, if I did
Ash Nazg Durbatuluk, I'm sure it'll read
If Mithrandir takes it, but then again, no
Or any of the elf lords who walk on the snow
I'll just have to bear it, it's the best I can do
To Mordor I'll bring it, though precious for you
And I won't tell anybody this is the One
It may look quite simple but needs be undone
I hope You don't mind
I hope You don't mind, but in Samath Naur
We lost you you're Precious when Gollum left the world
I walked down through mushrooms and kicked off the moss
With Sam, Pip and Merry 'hope Maggot's not cross
We're going to Bree now, and it won't be long
Singing an old song: "The road goes ever on"
Gandalf is gone now but trudge on I do
Boromir's dead too and now we are two
Gollum keeps pace but I hope he's not mean
We caught him with Sam's rope, he sure is quite lean
And I won't tell anybody this is the One
It may look quite simple but needs be undone
I hope You don't mind
I hope You don't mind, but in Samath Naur
We lost you you're Precious when Gollum left the world

Thanks, you guys. I might come up with another one after midnight here but don't hold your breath just yet.
Hmmm, I think I'll take "Your Ring" and submit it to Rivendell....
P.S. Glorious G., I've made very minor revisions and added the original Lyricist's name
Earenya

Yeah, I really like yours, Arathorn. Very clever! You definately should submit it...

wow arathorn that was amazing!it's really weird cos i was listening to the real your song earlier today!ur version is wicked!please post some more soon!
my friend came up with this idea of doing a song to "there's a hole in my bucket" otherwise known now as "there's a hole in my ring".its not very creative or funny but she seemed to like it.
There's a hole in my ring, dear Gandalf, dear Gandalf
There's a hole in my ring, dear Gandalf, a hole.
ok, now that i write it down, its really not as funny as it first sounded!if ne1 can come up with any better verses feel free.especially u gg or arathorn or STRAWBERRY!!!! as u seem to have a flare for this sort of composing.....writing...thing!

A bit of what I've come up with, this is Sauron's song.
(tune of "American Woman- original Guess Who version")
Frodo Baggins, stay away from me.
Frodo Baggins, hobbit let me be.
Dont come a-hangin around Orodruin
Tryin' to cast that Ring into Doom
Ive got all of Middle Earth to rule
You'll never escape my Nazgul.
Now hobbit, 'said stay away.
Frodo Baggins, listen t'what I say.
Don't try to come through Mordor
Don't wanna see your little shadow no more
My firey eye can hypnotize
So say my loyal spies.
Oh hobbit, 'said get away.
Frodo Baggins, listen t'what I say.

awww, Strawberry, don't you dare cry,
I liked your poetry and that I don't lie
That's how I got started writing "Your Ring"
'Hope we all get to posting more for them to sing
Oh well, back to the other threads for now
I'm reading about one that involves a cow.

Thank you Arathorn, you are very nice,
I loved your poem, I read it twice,
I think every post on this thread should rhyme,
From now until the end of time!

Great one, Earenya!
Keep writing, maybe we'll see macarenya (it rhymes)
Maybe not rhyming all the time, StrawberryIcecream
Even just remotely close to the theme
Here's one from chicago
With which I had a go
A lot of the original lyrics were really good
So I kept them in to preserve the mood, knock on wood...
(Original lyrics by PETER CETERA's You're The Inspiration)
You're The One Temptation
by Arathorn
You know my rule was meant to be
The kind of rule that lasts forever
And I need you worn on me
From tonight until the end of time
Elves should know, everywhere you go
You're always on my mind,
In my eye, in my soul
malice
CHORUS
You're the One Ring of my life
You are the temptation
You bring suffering to their lives
You're the desperation
'Wanna have you on me
I wanna have you shining, glinting
No one needs you more than my finger
And I know, yes I know that it's plain to see
They'll never win when we're together
Now I know, that I need you here with me
From tonight until the end of time
Wraiths should know, everywhere they go
You're always on my mind,
In my eye, in my soul
CHORUS
'Wanna have you on me
I wanna have you shining, glinting
No one needs you more than my finger
You're the malice of my life
You are the temptation
You bring ruin to their lives
You're the complication
When you're that ambitious, till the end of time
When you're that malicious, always on my mind
When you're that seditious, till the end of time
When you're that blasphemous, always on my mind
When you're that ambitious till the end of time
When you're that malicious, always on my mind

Arathorn
03-04-2002, 01:41 PM
Here's an abridged one (Now the FINISHED ONE)
that I think I have done
Originally by Billy Joel
the lyrics need some fuel(whew)
We Didn't Start The War
(We Didn't Start The Fire)
Iluvatar, Manwe, Feanor, Soronume
Valinorian, Numenorean, Middle-Earth Telerian
G'ladriel, Nerdanel, Tinuviel, and Undomiel
Fangorn Forest, Lothlorien, all the way to Ithilien
Uruk-hai, Ring-Wraiths, Oliphaunts and Fire Drakes
Strider is the Elfstone, Aragorn the Dunedain
Boromir, Faramir, Eowyn and Eomer
Ungoliant, Gorgoroth, Sauron 's boss is Morgoth!
We didn't start the war
They were always raiding
Since Melkor went stealing
We didn't start the war
No we didn't wage it
Feanor's oath did it
Palantiri, One Ring, Fellowship, Return of King
Shelob, Olog-hai, Easterlings attack from nigh
Beren, Luthien, Thingol had his Melian
Sauron, Carcaroth, killed Huan and both were lost
Saruman, Olorin, Radagast where have you been?
Samwise, Pippin, Merry did the Morgul in
Angband, Mordor, Beleriand near the shore
Dagorlad, Morgulvale, Udun it does makes me pale!
We didn't start the war
They were always raiding
Since Melkor went stealing
We didn't start the war
No we didn't wage it
Feanor's oath did it
Shadowfax , Asfaloth, Snowmane, and Bill is no sloth
Eastfold, Westfold, Oh Rohan You had been told.
Finarfin, Fingolfin, I don't know where has he been
Bywater, Bag End, Sharkey's gone Grima did rend
Firecrackers, Taters, conies near the craters
Bruinen, Rivendell, Nazgul got caught in its spell
Barliman still sits at Bree, when will it be ruffian-free?
Bilbo Baggins, Frodo, left the Shire to Lotho!
We didn't start the war
They were always raiding
Since Melkor went stealing
We didn't start the war
No we didn't wage it
Feanor's oath did it
Erebor, Mount Doom, Treebeard's voice went with a boom
There's Ghan-Buri-Ghan, in the forest dwelt his clan
Tol Eressea, Barrow Downs, Gollum's such a weird clown
Glorfindel, Arwen, will PJ change plot again?
JRR thinks he's Beren, Buried with his Luthien
Christopher's H.O.M.E, I got to save some money!
We didn't start the war
They were always raiding
Since Melkor went stealing
We didn't start the war
No we didn't wage it
Feanor's oath did it
Do Balrogs have got wings? kids like to debate these things
Valinor, Undying Lands, Elves are safe in Cirdan's hands
Ents took over Isengard, Huorns beat orcs when off their guard
Denethor just lost his mind, Gondor is in such a bind
'Wonder where's the Gulf of Lhun, 'better get my map soon
East Farthing Far Downs, Hobbits won't go out of town
Man in the Moon Came down to Soon, Shire folk sure enjoyed that tune
Periannath, Halflings, Hobbits killed the Lord of Rings!
We didn't start the war
They were always raiding
Since Melkor went stealing
We didn't start the war
No we didn't wage it
Feanor's oath did it
EDIT: This is the FINAL Version

That's really wicked, this thread is great,
But I've been stumped of late,
Now I've an idea about Aragorn the King,
I will post it soon so... don't go off on a wing.
Arathorn
03-04-2002, 02:02 PM
That one needn't a central theme
Though a bit of rhyming it did seem
With Robert Foster's Guide to Middle Earth
I was able to come up with material and some mirth
It's an abridged one I do admit
The last few stanzas just wouldn't fit
Maybe later I will add them
If there aren't many a problem

I know this is REALLY rubish but hey,
I made up this to keep the boredon monsters at bay.
I can't wait to be King by Elton John (I think.)
I hope you like it ..... I'm now off to get a drink!!!!!!!
Aragorn:
I’m gonna be the man of YOU,
So Frodo do not stare.
Frodo: You never used to be like this man,
You used to be quite fair,
Aragorn:
I wanna be a mighty King,
like there was no other before,
And when I get rid of this dumb ring,
I will rule Gondor.
Frodo :
So far I wish I was on a Nazguls wing,
Aragorn:
Oh I just can’t wait to be kkkkiiiiinnng.
No one saying “Strider”,
(hated that name)
No one saying “Estel”
(What was mom thinking?)
No annoyed Elrond,
(hated that man)
No more Rivendell.
(nothing to do)
Free to sleep without Sam’s snores,
Sam:
! I don’t snore that loud!)
Aragorn:
Free from all the Elven w****s.
Frodo: I know that when I left with Sam,
I broke your manly heart…
Kings don't need pep talks
From little hobbits for a start
Frodo:
If this is where middle earth is headed,
Count me out!
I’ll keep the ring for myself,
Of that I have no doubt!
Sam:
This bloke is getting slightly anoooyyiinnggggggg….
Aragorn:
Oh I just can’t wait to be king!
I have a big chin cleft,
My skin needs to see light,
I quite like Frodo,
There’s advantages to his height. :)
Let every Hobbit try and steal the ring,
Now I see her, Arwen is a bit ming’
Galadriel’s gonna be my greatest fling……
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't wait to be king!
Oh, I just can't waaaaaait ... to be king:cool:

03-04-2002, 03:09 PM
haha! You both made me laugh with glee,
now here is my little rhyming scheme:
(to tune of CCR's 'Down on the Corner')
Early in the evenin'
Just about supper time,
Over down in Hobbiton
They're startin to unwind,
4 hobbits on a journey
tryin' to free Middle Earth
Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pip
Off to prove their worth.
(Chorus)
From down in the Shire
Unlikely for a hero to be,
Frodo and the Hobbits are travelin'
to the pits of misery.
A dark hooded stranger
intercepts them in Bree.
'We can't wait for Gandalf,
and I'm Strider," says he.
On to see Elrond
at Rivendell so blessed.
Call upon the Council
to determine what is next.
(C)
Off to the Dark Lord's
And Isengard's misery
The Fellowship is travelin' through Moria
To destroy that nasty Ring.
-perhaps I'll add more later. :)

I've been working on this other thing
I based it on a song by Sting
While THE POLICE call their's
King of Pain
I call this one
King in Vain
There's a little slimy thing near the Anduin's rage
That's Gollum out there
With the same old ring from the Second Age
That's my Ring out there
There's a hobbit nearly cornered in weathertop
That's Frodo up there
There's a line of nine people that just won't stop
With my Ring out there
I have stood here razing all the orcs in vain
With that babbling wizard talking to my brain
I guess they're hoping that I won't again reign
But it's my destiny to once again cause pain
There's a Balrog and wizard that in Moria did fall
There's a noble captain that got killed near the falls
There's a halfling I saw, did the white wizard ebb?
There's a hobbit and an elf near Shelob's web
There's a king with a stone and his eye's looking out
There's a demented steward whom I lent much doubt
There's a tall man raising a fell army of dead
There's my captain choking oh what more could be said?
There's a miniscule army and the numbers they lack
There's a great horde waiting for my word to attack
There's a little round ring I misplaced today
It's the same old ring from yesterday
I have stood here razing all the orcs in vain
With that babbling wizard talking to my brain
I guess they're hoping that I won't again reign
But it's my destiny to just die in vain……
I'll always be king in vain..............

Precious, We-a wants you
Precious, We-a needs you
You're the only One worth leading hobbitses about
Maybe We-a crazy but We just can't sleeps without
Your callings and temptations giving us directions
Like a tasty fishhh to helps us through dark stinky landses
Lately We-a cravings that you'll always be-a stayings besides usses
Used to be we just stays in our caves in mountainses
Feeding on some fishhh that swims the streams near riverses
Lately We-a cravings that you'll always be-a stayings besides usses
Hobbitses come asking riddles in the darknesses
Asking what it has got in its pocketses
You left usses
Precious, We-a wants you
Precious, We-a needs you

Okay, I think it's really bad, but I had fun writing it! I know, the chorus seriously needs help, especially the first line. But then again, it is here for your amusement.
Eowyn's Song for Aragorn (pre-Faramir, of course!)
Based upon Greensleeves, King Henry VIII
Alas my love, you do me wrong
To cast me off discourteously
And I have loved you oh so long
Delighting in your company
Chorus:
Elessar was strong and bright
Elessar, heir of Gondor's Kings
Elessar was my one true joy
And who but that brave Aragorn
I have been ready at your hand
To grant whatever help thou need'st
I have waged both life and home
Your love and good will for to have
Chorus
Thy shieldmaid to follow thee
The Paths of the Dead I would walk with thee
They sheildmaid to follow thee
For thee I'd risk my own life

Here's another Billy Joel Song that I did
I had a hard time writing due to heavy eyelids.
It's not very good though
Hopefully it won't make anyone crow.
Frodo's Life
(based on My Life by Billy Joel)
Got a call from an old mage
He used to bring these dwarves
Said he needed to see Bilbo's magical ring
Closed the door, pulled Sam in
Made him promise to keep me close
Now he's gone were alone drinking ale with some friends
I don't need to be worried at Bree cause I'm alright
I don't need an old gaffer to lend me a hole
Then this Strider he comes and he takes us to his room
Those Dark Riders why don't they just leave me alone
I never dreamt of this adventure when I got the chance
I never should have taken that ring it was circumstance
I'll still go on, from that dark throng
'Hope we learn our elven lines
When it goes nigh time
Strider brought us to this Amon Sul
What a grave place
Where I got prierced by one nasty
Dark Morgul blade
Ah , but sooner you sleep and you wake up
In a strange place
Either way it's okay
You wake in Rivendell
I don't need you to worry for me Sam I'm alright
I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home
I don't care for what Boromir says anymore; this ring's my life
He should go save his own life and leave me alone
I never said I wanted power when I got the chance
I never got in trouble 'til I had me this circumstance
I still hold on, don't get me wrong
If you can read my mind
I'm really quite fine
I don't care what they say about Mordor, it's my life
Go ahead run to Orthanc, leave me alone.

Well I finally got my act together and wrote a song...
To the tune of Billy Joel's "Piano Man"
The Bartender by Barliman Butterbur
V1
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
Some li'l hobbits shuffle in
The tall one comes to talk to me
On a chain 'round his neck there's a ring.
He says "Barli bring me a pint or two.
I'm not sure just how much I'll need.
But it's gotta be quick
'Cause our tongues have gone thick.
And we need some good ol' Bree mead."
CHORUS
Bring us some beer,
You're the Bartender.
Bring us some beer tonight
Well we've been runnin' from the Black Riders
And Gandalf said you'd help our plight.
V2
Now Nob at the bar is a friend of mine
He gives people drinks for free
And we's slow when he waks
He's quick when he talks
But there's someplace that he'd rather be.
He sasid, "Barli, I think you're sick of me"
As the smile ran away from his face
"But I'm sure that I would be Sauron's man
If I wasn't stuck in this place."
CHORUS
Now Bill is a shady ol' Southerner
Who's talking with his dar friends
And he's lookin' at Strider
Who is a Range-Rider
And I think his cloak needs some mends.
And the hobbit is practicing witchery
He's wasted and singing a song.
Yes he falls down and just disappears
Turns out he was there all along.
CHORUS
It's a pretty big crowd for a Saturday
And those hobbitsts give me a smile
And I know that it's me
That they've come here to see
To get some rest for a while.
And thir feet smell like an Oliphaunt
And their breath smells like beer
I give them a letter
They sleep and feel better
And say "Why is Gandalf not here?"
CHORUS 2X
You know, if I were to write one to the tune of Billy's "Captain Jack", I wouldn't have to even change the entire first stanza:
Saturday night and you're still hangin' around
Tired of living in your one-horse town
You'd like to find a little hole in the ground
for a while...

Thanks Rosie-Lass and Earenya, I've never done any before
I think I'm more of a techie than a rhymer of lore
Three cheers for Nariel Starshine
I have been thinking of Pianoman too
'Tis a mixture I think
of lounge and pub music where tends Barliman too
(I'll stop rhyming to say that your music sure had a lot of muses that time--inspired)

This is a song sung by Sam,
who's just lost his master to a spider who doesnt like ham.
All by myself by Celine Dion.
When I was young,
I never needed Mr. Frodo,
And stealing carrots was just for fun,
Those days are gone.
Walkin' alone
I think of Frodo, cold as bone
Saying “Master” with a moan
I’m so alone.
All by myself
(Wasn’t at Bree)
All by myself
With this ring…
Hard to be here,
When only days ago he was near,
And at his body, the orcs do leer,
I’m filled with fear.
All by myself
Didn’t used to be,
All by myself
Life’s a chore
All by myself
Don't wanna go
All by myself
To Mordor
When he was there,
I used to admire him from away,
So brave, “come what may!”
Those orcs will pay.
All by myself
I need to see
A helpful elf
With Frodo’s cure
All by myself
Don't wanna eat
Oh
Don't wanna eat
By myself, by myself
Life’s a chore,
By myself
Anymore
Oh
All by myself
Don't wanna live

Ok, I have one for you lot now.
That Bombadil bug of yours has bitten me, Arathorn!
Ok, this one,s to the tune of Blue Eyes, by Elton John.
What did I say about being brought up on Elton John?!
Ok,
One Ring,
Frodo's got One Ring,
Take it to Mount Doom,
On a black, black day,
One Ring,
Frodo's got One Ring,
When ond Gollum comes,
Scream and run away,
Ans I say,
One Ring attracting the Nine,
Attracting the pain,
Frodo's got no ring,
And he is old,
And he is old again.
One Ring,
Ooooh, One Ring,
When it's gone away,
Children laugh and play,
And I say,
One Ring has now gone away,
Returns not again,
Frodo's got no Ring,
And he is old,
And he's gone back to the Shire again.
Whatever that bug is on, I want some!
It's wearing off already!
Try to be nice, it is my first go at this sort of stuff (well, LotR related anyway!)

I knew you had it in you Rosie-Lass
Go do another one for the class
This one is about wishful thinking
For lovers out there with lesser inkling:p
The Entish Time
(based on The Longest Time by Billy Joel)
Hoo, Hoo, Hoom, Hroom
For an entish time
Hoo, Hoo, Hoom, Hroom
For an entish time
Did you say entwives were at your sight
Oh which forest have they gone for flight
What else can I do
We have been roused by you
That hasn't happened for an entish time
Once I thought my Fimbrethil was gone
Now I'll see entmaidens come anon
And it does rouse me
Think she'll stretch her branches for me
I haven't dreamt that for an entish time
Hoo, Hoo, Hoom, Hroom
For an entish time
Hoo, Hoo, Hoom, Hroom
For an entish time
I think I'll feel hasty most of all
When I see that miracle come fall
Is it indeed true?
Did she say: 'Needed me too
That hasn't happened for an entish time
Maybe this is just a happy song
But it feels oh so right
And you could be wrong
Maybe my bark has gone too hard
But I've rustled by far
And it's more than I've boomed for
Who knows maybe gardens we'll grow on
Maybe even entings when you're gone
I'll take my chances
I will rouse those treeish branches
I haven't done that for an entish time
I last saw entmaidens depart
I said to myself
It won't be so hard
Now I know that they won't be far
So beautiful they are
And how long I have searched north
I don't care which garden plain she clings
I have stayed in Fangorn many springs
I want her so bad
I think she ought to know that
I intend to follow for
An entish time

I've just had a thought about another song I could do.
This is Sauron's Song, to the tune of Elton John's (sorry) The One.
I saw it there on Frodo's finger,
He was running fast along the sand,
A hobbit born of earth and water,
My red eye searched all lands,
In the instant that I saw my ring,
In the second that my red eye saw,
I summoned all my faithful Nine,
And I sent them to the shore,
And all I ever needed was the One,
In the Shire it was where wild hobbits run,
When they collide, in Maggot's field,
A fellowship was born,
It's all I ever needed,
The Ring that is the One
There are paths that they will follow,
Smoking pipe-weed in dark hotels,
When Strider will see them and in silence,
Will go on the quest with them as well,
For I really do want to be King,
Of all of Middle-earth unless,
My Ring is destroyed in the fire,
And I will finally fall,
And all I ever needed was the One,
In the Shire it was where wild hobbits run,
When they collinde, in Maggot's field,
A fellowship was born,
It's all I ever needed,
The Ring that is the One.
I'm sorry to Strawberry, who has already had a rant at me for my Elton John fixation, but I like his music, and this song did just happen to be called The One!
Spooky, huh?

Nice song, Rosie-lass. :) And same to you, Arathorn!
I just thought of two, but this time I really don't think anyone will know the songs they're from! The original songs are both Indigo Girls. . .if anyone knows their music well, well, I guess I'll just post them, for fun, whether or not you all know them :) Here goes: (They aren't very good, since I couldn't find something that made sense for some of the lines, but I was just having fun!)
Frodo the Optimist from "It's Alright"--Indigo Girls
It's alright many days of travel my feet worn out from the endless road it'd be nice to have a real rest and water, but it's alright And it's alright if you burn that way, burn me from your tower, burn my mind from your eye, You're really gonna be destroyed one day, so it's alright. I look at this One Ring, weighing me down, resting in my hand, I look at the burned out empty like a plague across this land And for every step I take there are two more weary ones to stand, That's why I'm still on quest through the Dark Land's mess, and I'm doing the best that I can, and it's alright And it's alright that Sam worries and fusses, can't get over the hill, Orcs can't get over us It seems easier to hide than to just trust our luck, but it's alright When we get a little closer, some things get murkier, Give us the space and our doom grows nearer I traveled as hard as I could and I ended here but it's alright I look at this One Ring, weighing me down, resting in my hand, I look at the fires of Orodruin burning what's left of this desolate land, I know I'm small, in a Hobbit's way, but I know I'm strong And it's my quest that brought me here to Mordor and when I give it all up, Sam, he carries me on, and it's alright Yeah it's alright And it's alright though I feel afraid my plans in pieces my ways mislaid It's the will of the way the will of the way the will of the only way that could have brought me here today and it's alright
Hey Kind Sam from "Hey Kind Friend"--Indigo Girls
Hey kind Sam Don't know when I'll see you again on an Elven ship bound for Valimar laying down to rest from the sickness Eärendil shining over the ocean you know everything now is different for me ain't no use in explaining what's ailing me Hey kind friend won't you help me forget where I've been Hey kind Sam, help me remember who I am too ill in late March So I've come here with elves and Gandalf Saw the sun die in the Grey Havens running down on the Sundering Sea So I ask you for some relief and it's one true root that you bring to me It's early evening it's good company Hey kind friend Help me forget where I've been Hey kind Sam help me remember who I am Hey kind friend I don't know when I'll see you again It's OK Sam So I'll meet you in Elvenhome, yeah I'll see you in the undying lands after the long, full life I'm telling you you'll have with Rosie back at Bag End Hey kind friend help me forget where I've been Hey kind Sam help me remember who I am Hey kind friend don't know when I'll see you again It's OK Sam I'm OK friend
I just realized I wasn't finished with them! Oh well, I just added in some changes. . .

as you may have guessed, from my lack of writing any songs , i am not a writer and can't ryhme(or spell) to save my life.
i am however good at thinking up ideas for songs so i figure if i post my ideas then u guys could write them.

ummmm.. ok so thats all for now but i challenge all of u to write that song!gd luck!

That is suuuch a good idea, but it would be really hard to write, as there isn't much to write about on oliphaunts. But im sure that if you ask that guy that wrote about 6 pages on 'the wars of glorfindel' he could come up with something for you!

here is a song mostly made by me but with help from eowyn144
I know there a few inaccuracies but i couldnt get anything else to rhyme!
LADY GALADRIEL to the tune of Lady Marmalade (Moulin Rouge):
[Frodo:]
Where’s all mah soul hobbit
Lemme hear ya’ll flow hobbit
[Merry:]
Hey Frodo, go Frodo, soul Frodo, flow Frodo
Hey Frodo, go Frodo, soul Frodo, go Frodo
[Merry:]
He met Aragorn down the Prancing Pony
Smoking his pipe in the dark
he said, "Hello, Frodo, you wanna give it a go?" Oh! uh huh
[Chorus:]
Hobbit hobbit travelling so far (Hey hey hey)
Hobbit, Hobbit, stay quite near (here)
Lembas in a leaf ya ya (oh yea)
Creole lady Galadriel
[Gollum:]
Rabbit, rabbit in a pot
[Mery:]
ooh yum
Will you come with me to Mirkwood? ce soir
Will you come with me to Gondor?
[Pippin:]
yea yea yea yea
[Gandalf:]
they sat in his room while the riders were there
stuffing their blankets with wheat
In is black, darkened room is where they started to freak
yeah
[Chorus:]
Hobbit, Hobbit travelling so far, (da-da-da)
Hobbit, Hobbit stay right here (here ohooh yea yeah)
Lembas in a leaf ya ya (yea)
Creole lady Galadriel
Will you come with me to Isengard (ce soir, what what what)
Will you come to Huckleberry?
[Frodo:]
yea yea uh
Gimli come with the plaits and the old elven hags
I let him know that I am curly and plaits are not my fate uh
We independent hobbits, some mistake us for kids
I'm sayin‘, if you don’t like us then you can shut your lids,
Disagree? Well that's Boromir and he gonna get hurt
Oh look! It’s those orcs! And Borrie hits the dirt!
We don’t wear shoes and we just love food,
We’re Shire Hobbits in the Prancing Pony,
hey hobbits, soul hobbits, betta get that ring hobbits
We smoke weed with diamonds in the pipe
We can’t blow ships but Gandalf was over ripe,
if you wanna Hitchie Hikey, ya ya
Eat some Lembas-a what?
Real Lady Galadriel
One more time C’mon now
Galadriel... Lady Galadriel... Galadriel...
[Frodo:]
hey Hey Hey!
Touch of that ring feeling dark ‘n’ smooth
color of gold in the night alright
Made the savage Gollum roar until he cried,
More-more-more
[Pippin:]
Now he's back in ‘is cave playin’ with a knife
[Merry:]
Guttin’ fish is now his boring life
[Christina:]
But when he turns off to sleep memories creep,
More-more-more
[Chorus:]
Gollum, Gollum, ya ya dada (da daeaea yea)
Gollum, Gollum, ya ya here (ooh)
Fish in yukky water ya ya (yea)
Creole lady Galadriel
Will you come with me to Rivendell? (ce soir)
Will you come with me to Bree? (all my sistas yea)
Will you come with me to Fangorn? (ce soir)
Will you come with me to Mordor? (C‘Mon! uh)
[Gandalf:]
Aragorn...(oh Leaeaa Oh)
Sam... (Lady Galadriel)
Frodo...(hey Hey! uh uh uh uh...)
Merry...(Oh Oh oooo)
Pippin...(baby)
Prancing Pony... (0h)
Gandalf the Grey here...
Creole Lady Galadriel Yes-ah......

I Was short on time in my searchin'
So I just did a stab on Imagine.
(by John Lennon)
Imagining Hobbits
(by Arathorn)
Imagine there are hobbits
It's easy if you try
With feet so furry
Puffing rings as night goes by
Imagine there are people
Living in your yard....
Imagine there are elf folk
As fair as morning dew
With wisdom of years we long for
'Knew our grandparents too
Imagine there are people
Living in the woods...
You may say I read too much
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be ruled by the One
Imagine there are ents here
Who herd trees when they can
Who are themselves quite treeish
Except when roused by man
Imagine all the entings
Sprouting here and there...
You may say I love Tolkien
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be ruled by the One

Not really, but if you insist...
(though not from Moulin Rouge)
Mumak
(originally Woman by John Lennon)
Mumak I can hardly express,
My fascination like what Samwise says
After all you won't fit in any dress
And mumak I will try to express
My love for oliphaunts who remember no less
The fact that I do collect them, can you guess
oooh well, well,
oooh well, well,
Mumak I hope you understand
This little hobbit who thinks just like Sam
Please remember to bathe whenever you can
And mumak hold me close with your trunk
Even when muddy and though you stunk
After all we both walk like we were drunk
oooh well, well,
oooh well, well,
Mumak please let me explain,
I never meant(t) to show my shame or disdain
So let me pat you again and again and again,
I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever,
Sam loves you (yeah, yeah) now and forever,
I love you (yeah, yeah) now and forever,
Sam loves you (yeah, yeah)....

BTW, here's another Beatles song:
Here Comes The One
By Arathorn
(based on "Here Comes The Sun" by George Harrison)
Here comes the One, here comes the One
And I say with Frodo
Little hobbit it's been a long dark daunting journey
Little hobbit it feels like butter on too much bread
Here comes the One, here comes the One
And I say unmake it
Little hobbit I know nazgul have hurt you dear
Little hobbit it seems like years since we left Bree
Here comes the One, here come the One
And I say it's your fight
One, One, One, here it comes
Gone, gone, gone, when he comes
One, One, One, here it comes
Gone, gone, gone, when he comes
One, One, One, here it comes
Little hobbit the blade of ice ain't really meltin'
Little hobbit it seems like fear is still quite near
Here comes the One, destroy the One
And I say yes that's right!
Here comes the One, destroy the One
Yes that's right! Yes that's right!

:D
Arathorn
03-13-2002, 02:49 PM
Thanks Glorfindel; though I wouldn't go that far. :) Here are 2 songs by one of my favorite bands:
The Corrs!
The first is so perfect for Eowyn to sing to Aragorn that I did not touch it:
What Can I Do?
(The Corrs - Talk On Corners)
I haven't slept at all in days
It's been so long since we have talked
And I have been here many times
I just don't know what I'm doing wrong
(Chorus)
What can I Do to make you love me
What can I do to make you care
What can I say to make you feel this
What can I do to get you there
There's only so much I can take
And I've just got to let it go
And who knows I might feel better
If I don't try and I don't hope
(Chorus)
No more waiting, no more aching
No more fighting, no more trying...
Maybe there's nothing more to say
And in a funny way I'm calm
Because the power is not mine
I'm just gonna let it fly...
(Chorus)
Love me...
This next one I adapted from "Dreams" which was originally sung by Fleetwood Mac but revived well by the Corrs. It's a song I suppose from Saruman to Sauron. I call it:
Palantir Visions
Now here you go again, you say you want your ring back
Well who am I to keep you down
It's only right that you should send your wraiths to fetch it
But listen carefully to the sound
[Bridge]
Of the halfling steps
That draw closer and drive you mad
In the stillness of Barad-dûr where you stand
And where you lost
And what you had
And what you lost
[Refrain]
Thunder only happens when you're reigning
Ologs only love you when they're praying
Say, Uruks they will come and they will go
When the Ring-wraiths find the One you'll know, you'll know
Now here I go again, I see Palantir visions
I keep my visions to myself
It's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams and
Have you any dreams you'd like to tell
Dreams of halfling steps...
[Bridge]
[Refrain thrice]

to the tune of "Blackbird" by the Beatles
Ringwraith riding in the dead of night,
find the magic ring and fly away
In your strife,
you were only waiting for this hobbit to arrive.
ringwraith fly, into the dark of the shroud of doom.
Ringwraith chasing after Arwen fair,
watch her speeding steed fade away
In your strife,
you were only waiting for this hobbit to arrive.
ringwraith fly, into the dark of the shroud of doom.
Ringwaith flaling in the charging wake,
leave your broken steed and learn to walk
failed your task
you will never catch the hobbit Frodo alive
ringwraith leave, into the dark of the shroud of doom.

Here's Queen before I get some shut-eye:
(originally Bohemian Rhapsody)
Meriadoc's Rhapsody
Is this the Mark's life?
Is this just fantasy?
Snuck in the Mark's ride
No escape from my destiny
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and freeze
I'm just a hobbit, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little light, little low
Anyway the wind blows, battle has descended upon me
Gandalf, 'just killed a wraith
'Pushed a blade against its leg
Then came Dernhelm, now it's dead
Gandalf, pain has just begun
But now I need to make it go away
Gandalf, ooo
Didn't want to have to lie
I just want to get back to fight tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta still pay back the pipe weed owed to you
Gandalf, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never have left the Shire
I see a noble silhouetto of a man
Aragorn, Aragorn will you chew the Athelas
Thunderbolts and Ring-Wraiths - very very frightening me
Meriadoc, Meriadoc,
Meriadoc, Meriadoc,
Meriadoc Brandybuck - Rohirrimoooooo
But I'm just a Shire boy and nobody loves me
He's just a Shire boy from a Shire family
Spare him his life from this necromancy
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
Gilthoniel! No - we will not let you go - let him go
Gilthoniel! We will not let you go - let him go
Gilthoniel! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh Periannath, Periannath, Periannath do not go
This Morgul blade did the Witch-King put aside for me
for me
for me
So you think you can catch me for your Lidless Eye!
So you think you can curse me and pull me to die!
Oh Pippin - can't feel a thing until now
Just gotta get up - just gotta get right outta here
Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters - nothing really matters to me
Anyway the wind blows...

Britney Spears, Stronger
Hush, just stop
There’s nothing you can do or say, Samwise
I’ve had enough, I’m not it’s property as from today, baby
You might think that I won't make it without that ring
But now I’m Stronger than yesterday
Now it’s nothing but melted gold,
My weighted chain ain’t killing me no more
I’m stronger
Than I ever thought that I could be, baby
Orcs used to be my only foe,
Didn’t really care ‘bout me
You might think that I can’t take it, without that ring
but now I’m Stronger than yesterday
Now it’s just in a fiery hell
My weighted chest ain’t killing me no more
I’m stronger
Come on, now
Oh, yeah
Here I go, to the Shire
I don’t need no ring, better off alone
Here I go, back to Bag end
I don’t need no ring, not any ring,
Here I go, alright, here I go
Stronger than yesterday
Now it’s nothing but melted gold
My weighted chain ain’t killing me no more
I’m stronger

Sorry Strawberry, I couldn't resist doing this one:
Pelennor Fields
(Originally Strawberry Fields by John Lennon/Paul McCartney)
Let me take you down, 'cos I'm riding to Pelennor Fields
Fighting is real, with mumacs and ologs charging 'bout
Pelennor Fields forever
Killing is easy when singing, a habit practiced by the Rohirrim
It's getting hard to hack someone but it all works out, it doesn't matter much to me
Let me take you down, 'cos I'm riding to Pelennor Fields
Fighting is real, and nothing to get hungabout
Pelennor Fields forever
No one I think lived lest they flee, I mean it's either flight or blow
That is no one who has lived thus who did not take flight, in that case it is not too bad
Let me take you down, 'cos I'm riding to Pelennor Fields
Fighting is real, with mumacs and ologs charging 'bout
Pelennor Fields forever
Always, no sometimes, think it's me, but you know I know when it's a dream
I think I know I mean a "Yes" but it's all wrong, that is I think I disagree
Let me take you down, 'cos I'm riding to Pelennor Fields
Fighting is real, and nothing to get hungabout
Pelennor Fields forever
Pelennor Fields forever
Pelennor Fields forever

Well they could sing "A hard Day's Night" from the Shire to Rivendell. :D
Oh BTW, here's another Tolkienified song based on one composed by Burt Bacharach and original lyrics by Hal David(Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head):
WormTongue Keeps Messing with My Head
WormTongue keeps messing with my head
He just keeps on railing 'bout the safety of my bed
Says I'll soon be dead
Coz WormTongue keeps messing with my head, he keeps messing
So I just did me some talkin' to the Grey
And he said that I should really ride out, don't delay
White's betrayed the Grey
Worse: WormTongue keeps messing with my head, he keeps messing
But there's one thing I know
The Mark they still believe me, they won't leave me
It won't be long 'til Meriadoc comes to greet me
WormTongue keeps messing with my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes are too blind, too misled
Resting's not for me
Cause I'm mustering the Mark from Meduseld
No I won't flee
Let that Grima go free

I've had english classes from 1st grade through high school (basically repetitive and boring) and 3 that are required in university. The funny thing is, I really got the hang of english and some spanish watching Sesame street and going to ye olde Encyclopedia Britanica since there was no Internet back then.
But songs are a different thing. Just about everyone I know in the Phil. knows how to sing (though some better than others). We used to play games with songs (name that tune; another one involves singing a song starting with a word and the next guy needs to start the next song with the last word you gave). There was a time in high school when song and chordbooks were almost as common as comic books.

I said I'd do this, and I just did. I really makes absolutley no sense, but then again, neither does the original! So, here it is, "Laurelindorenan," from "Octopus's Garden." I know there are a few inaccuracies, but that's just how it turned out. (I really need to stop putting disclaimers in front of everything I do!)
I'd like to be, under the trees
In Laurelindórenan, in the shade
She'd let us in, knows where we've been
By the Mirror of Galadriel, in the shade
I'd ask Sam to come and see
Into Galadriel's Mirror with me
I'd like to be, under the trees
In the land of Lórien, in the shade
We would be safe, far from Moria
In our little Flet, among the trees
Resting our heads, on the Elven beds
In Galadriel's realm, near the trees
We would sing and dance all day
Because we know, The Ring can't be found (not really, I know)
I'd like to be, under the trees
In Laurelindórenan, in the shade
We would sing, we'd sing about
Poor Gandalf falling through with the Balrog
Oh, but how sad, for every Man, Elf, and Hobbit
Knowing Gandalf is fallen to Shadow
We would be so happy, you and me
If Mithrandir were here with us
(to Gandalf)
I want to be, under the trees
In the land of Lórien, with you
In the land of Lórien, with you
In Laurelindórenan with you

Go Eruviel! In the meantime, for my 777th post here's another
Billy Joel song which I hope you girls would know and like. My first Dwarvish love song.
(Originally She's Always A Woman)
She's Always A Noldo
She can soothe with a phial
She can probe with her eyes
She can channel your rage as her mind is so wise
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She's fair as a child
But she's always a noldo to me
She can make you believe
She will never deceive you
She can ferret the truth without having to ask you
She'll provide enough lembas from Lorien 'til Bree
To catch any thief
But she's always a noldo to me
Oh, she protects Lothlorien
She's been waiting an age
She's been biding her time
Oh, and when her time is all out
And she sails to the West
She's the last of her kind
She provided us oars
Elven boats for Anduin
She then gave us gifts worth a lot more than mithril
After passing the test and then letting us be
Charmed a dwarf like myself
Oh she's always a noldo to me
She's incredibly kind
Though as grave as a juror
She can see what she pleases she has that fine mirror
But she won't leave Lothlorien until the world's free
And the most she will do
Is lift shadows from you
Coz she's always a noldo to me

Arathorn, do you spend ANY time working, because you have posted the most songs on this thread and as people have pointed out, you r on here 24:7. I'm not saying thats a bad thing, because you are SOOOO lucky to have a free run of a computer!
I've not been on here for three days and I was beginning to suffer from withdrawel symptoms!
Back to the topic...I'm still working on Dionne Warwick. The best version of that song is the one from 'My Best Friends Wedding' with the lobster people in it.
Keep up all of the good work lyricists, and especially Eowyn.

Btw, I'm thinking of doing The World is not Enough by Garbage, man do I love that film!

I have another song!
All Rings Must Pass, from All Things Must Pass, by George Harrison (The Beatles)
Sunrise doesn't last all morning
The Dark Lord didn't last all age
Seems our time is up and we're leaving with this warning
But it's not always going to be this grey
All Rings must pass
All Rings must pass away
Sunset doesn't last all evening
Now The One Ring has been thrown away
After all this our time is up and must be leaving
But it's not always going to be this way
All Rings must pass
All Rings must pass away
All Rings must pass
None of the Elves can stay
So we must be on our way
And face the Sundering Sea
Now the darkness only stays at night time
In the morning it will fade away
No it's not always going to be this way
All Rings must pass
All Rings must pass away

LOL! You guys, these are great!
I can't write songs, it's just isn't my fate.
But since you write so many, I guess I'll try just one--
And if it's any good I'll post it up here when I'm done!
:) Really, I love 'em, they're all awesome! I think I'll try some Beatles...or maybe Enya. Anyone else know any Enya 'sides me and Eruviel?
-tano
Eruviel Greenleaf
03-17-2002, 03:01 AM
Tano, you should go for some Enya songs! I'm sure a lot of people here have at least heard of her, considering she did those songs for LotR! Try "Anywhere Is" or something! :)
Arathorn
03-17-2002, 03:22 AM
Whatever you do Tano, don't do Lothlorien. That's cheating because <sneers> it doesn't have any vocals.:D
BTW, I am liking that song very much Eruviel. Go Beatles! Anyone for some U2 or Smashmouth? They've got pretty recent releases.
And Strawberry, I just got surprised by your description. That's all. Now that you've mentioned it. I've been thinking about it since last month. It is quite difficult form me to think of something truly original with a good story. I'll just have to content myself now with playing with form and structure as far as literary stuff goes. I manage and write software programs for a living, btw :)
Rosie-Lass
03-17-2002, 05:40 AM
I like U2, but my friends hate them, so I'll have a go at Stuck In A Moment...if I ever get time!
If anyone's thinking of doing Smashmouth, I would say do Allstar. I'm not going to do it because it is too fast. Maybe the 'Song Machine' (!) would like a go!:D

Ok, here it is, v.v. weird as have been working on it for too long so now sounds kind of stupid, but never mind, I suppose it beats Elton John (strawberry!!!).
I Say A Little Prayer For You-Originally by Dionne Warwick, massacred by me!
I personally think that Sam should sing this.
The moment I wake up,
Before I cook our breakfast up,
I say a little prayer for you,
While running from ringwraiths,
And hoping that you are ok,
I say a little prayer for you,
Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart,
And I will love you,
Forever and ever, we never will part,
Until we reach Mount Doom,
Together forever, that's how it must be,
Although we're not gay,
Our love is quite brotherleeeeeee...
We run from that Gollum, dear,
While running I think of us dear,
I say a little prayer for you,
At rest I just take time,
And although I really can't rhyme,
I say a little prayer for you,
Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart,
And I will love you,
Forever and ever, we never will part,
Until we reach Mount Doom,
Together forever, that's how it must be,
Although we're not gay,
Our love is quite brotherleeeeeeee...
I say a little prayer for you,
I say a little prayer for you,
Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart,
And I will love you,
Forever and ever, we never will part,
Until we reach Mount Doom,
Together forever, that's how it must be,
Although we're not gay,
Our love is quite brotherleeeeeeee...
My Frodo, believe me,
For me there is no one
But you...
It's not v.g, but I did my best with a song that, in a film, has lobster people in it...I'm serious!

I'm off to school for an exam. There's nothing like a song to keep yer mind off the anxiety. So here's another ent song based on Sting's "Every Step You Take".
Every Stem You Take
Every Stem you take
Every axe you make
Every branch you break
Every root you take
I'll be watching you
Every chopping day
Every wood you slay
Every flame you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you
O can't you see
They are dear to me
How my poor bark aches with every sap you take
Every groove you make
Every bough you break
Every fire you wake
Every wooden stake
I'll be watching you
Since you've come I been roused throughout the day
I dream at night I can only see your blaze
I look around but these trees I can't replace
I keep crying hoom, hroom, hoom, hroom please
Every Stem you take
Every axe you make
Every branch you break
Every root you take
I'll be watching you

Thanks for volunteering Eruviel. I also volunteer you. :D
The next song was really hard and I didn't think it was good, but due to insistent Rosie-Lass and Nariel Starshine demand,
ELF STAR (Originally ALL STAR by Smash Mouth)
Some noldo once told me the world is gonna bore me
I ain't the sharpest shot in Lorien
She was looking at the king with her finger in her ring
And the smile of an elf near the Haven
Well the orcs start coming and they don't stop coming
Led by some fools so I hit the orc running
Didn't make sense not to shoot for fun
Your aim gets smart or the orc gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what's wrong with saving some halflings
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine without no bow
[Chorus:]
Hey now there's the dwarf star get your game on and go play
Hey now you're an elf star get the bow up and go slay
Not all that glitters is gold
Gandalf keeps on claiming, I've been told
It's a dark place and they say it gets darker
You're paranoid now but wait 'til you're deeper
But the funny old dwarf begs to differ
Judging by the hole in the stalagmite fixture
The team we're in is getting pretty thin
We better run now to save Merry and Pippin
My count's now higher how about yours
That's the way I like it since we started keepin' score
[Repeat Chorus 2x]
Somebody once asked could you spare some extra lembas
I need to run away from this place
I said Ai! Then I asked why
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all run as fast for a change
Well the orcs start coming and they don't stop coming
Led by some fools so I hit an orc running
Didn't make sense not to shoot for fun
Your aim gets smart or the orc gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what's wrong with saving some halflings
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine without no bow
[Repeat Chorus]

Ok, I won't pester you anymore Arathorn!!!
That was great! I love that song!
It has been a little overdone on various soundtracks (RatRace and Shrek(hurray)) for instance, but it should soo go in the Entmoot Alternative LotR Songbook!
Are you taking notes, Eruviel???:D
P.S. Has anybody got any ideas for a name for the songbook Eruviel's putting together (now you can't get out of it:D )? Mine's a bit predictable and lame. C'mon, we're all creative people, think up some names...

My Generation
Elves and men try to put us down
talkin' 'bout the hobbit nation
just because we live underground
talkin' 'bout the hobbit nation
the rings they wear feel awful cold
talkin' 'bout the hobbit nation
hope i don't die before I get home
talkin' 'bout the hobbit nation
Why don't you all just sail away
don't try and dig where we are stayin'
that ring sure is a big temptation
talkin' 'bout the hobbit nation
seg to Tommy
gazing at you I fear the power
listening to you I feel the horror
following sam I climb the mountain
I throw your ring into the fire

As Pippin would say: "Let's get another one!"
Doomsday, Bloody Doomsday
by Arathorn
(originally Sunday, Bloody Sunday by U2)
I can't believe the orcs today
I can't close my eye there really is no way
They run, they run when I've been undone
They run
Tonight halflings kicked the One, tonight
Broken dreams under the hobbit's feet
Nazgul strewn across the Pelennor fleet
But I won't need a battle call
They've put my back up, put my back up against the
wall
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Though my reign had just begun,
My Ring was lost, now tell me where's the One?
Gollum's dug himself a part,
And so did Bilbo Baggins, Frodo, Sam those warts!
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
They run, they run when I've been undone
They run
Tonight halflings threw the One, tonight
Tonight, tonight
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Wipe the fear from my eye
Wipe my fears away
Wipe my blood shot eye
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
And it's true it is my destiny
But when time ends they will remember me
And today the millions cry
They slash and fight while tomorrow they die
The real battle's just begun
For men are weak and their Sun has come
On a Doomsday, bloody Doomsday
Doomsday, bloody Doomsday

Okay here goes!! I before said i felf unable to do this so her i go!!
[ Originally ‘The show must go on’ by Queen]
(‘The Quest must go on’ By Elfmaster XK)
Empty space – why have I come here?
Abandoned places – There’s so much to fear
On and on, does anybody know we’re already here?
Another pitfall, another mountain looms
In the land of Mordor, to the cracks of doom
Hold the climb, does anybody want to take the ring for me?
The Quest must go on
The Quest must go on
Inside my heart is quaking
My courage may be shaking
But my mind still says ‘on!’
Whatever happens I left it all to fate,
I followed Gollum, knowing of his hate
On and on, does anybody know; will we get there?
I guess I’m nearing, the ring is heavy now
I’ll soon be turning to see the mountain now
Outside the dawn is braking
But inside the dark I’m aching just to see…
But the Quest must go on
The Quest must go on
Inside my heart is pained
My courage may have waned
But I still must go on
My soul is tormented by this evil thing
I want to destroy it, but just can’t deny the ring
It wants to live – my friends
The Quest must go on
The Quest must go on
I face Orodruin
I’m never giving in
On – with the Quest
I’ll top the hill, I’ll shoot to kill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the Quest
The Quest must go on…go on…go on…
*Smiles happily* Not quite up to Arathorns standard but still…it’s a first try.

Thanks guys! *wipes away a tear* I value such praise from the masters of tolkienating songs.
I also love star wars! I'm making an attempt at another Queen song, but i found a little poem which was quite cute and changed it to this...
Glint ye! Shines ye! Even so,
The ring may bring both joy and woe.
It twists your mind with fear and strife
And betrays you now to save it's life.
I feel this thread needs poetry too, and that is what i;'m here to do.

Sorry about this.
I need to tell the whole Moot, that it is not just I that like U2, Eowyn, GG and Strawberry also like them, which is an amendment to the original message that said that some of my friends dislike them.
I actually meant by that a boy I know called Ed, who has it on his computer SCREENSAVER that U2 and Wheatus suck, which are, perhaps not so incidentally, 2 bands that I like.
Happy now, you three???

I can't resist!
I have to try this. Here goes.
Yesterday by Frodo Baggins.
(Yestarday by The Beatles)
Yestarday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now the Ring is here and it cannot stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Suddenly, I bore the Ring to Rivendale via Bree
The Ring Wraith persuit shadowed over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly
Why Bilbo took that Ring, I don't know, he wouldn't say
I must now feel it's weight, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, I just smoked weed and had lazy days
Now, to Mordor I must travel away
I knew no Sauron yesterday
Why, Bilbo took that Ring, I don't know, he wouldn't say
I must now feel it's weight, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, I had fun at Bilbo's big Birthday
I didn't know the Ring prolonged his age
Oh, I believe in yesterday, Mm

Smells Like My Precious by Gollum
(Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana)
Load up on fish, I'll help new friends
It's fun to trick and to pretend
I'll get it back, just wait and see
I have a plan and they're trusting me
It's mine, it's mine, it's mine, all mine
*chorus* With the lights out it's more dangerous
Here I am now
Where's my Precious
I feel desperate but they are cautious
Here I am now
Where's my Precious
I was Smeagol
Now I'm Gollum
It was my present
But I lost it
Yeeeaaah.
I will lead them through marshes dead
Nasty Hobbitses, easily lead
For I have formed a cleaver plan
We'll take a secret way onto Mordor land
It's mine, it's mine, it's mine, all mine
*chorus*
So, on we go
To Shelob's lair
Gollum, I guess it makes me smile.
I wants that Ring
It was hard to find
The Hobbits will die, oh well, nevermind.
It's mine, it's mine, it's mine, all mine.
*chorus*

This is probably what Cirdan should sing to win back Galadriel. ;)
Sweet Elven Child
(Sweet Child of Mine by Guns'n Roses)
She's got a phial that it seems to me
Reminds me of Starlit memories
When everything
Was as fresh as the 1st Age sky
Now and then when I give her chase
She takes me away to that
elven place
And if I fare too long
I'd probably look back and sigh
Oh
Sweet elven child
Oh
Sweet elf o' mine
She's got eyes like the noldor wise
As if they ever age
I hate to look into those eyes
And see her family's rage
Her hair reminds me
Of a golden place
Where as a child I'd hide
And play with the hunters
As they stray
And I quickly pass them by
Oh
Sweet elven child
Oh
Sweet elf o' mine
Where is the West
Where is the West now
Where is the West
Sweet elven child

This is my first try so I hope its OK. Its a version of Bon Jovi's Its My Life:
This aint a song for the broken hearted
Or a silent prayer for ring departed
I aint gonna be just an elf in the crowd
Youll hear the halfling vioce if I shout it out loud
Its my ring for now and ever
Cos now Im gonna live forever
I just wanna keep it while I hide
(the ring is mine) My road is an open highway
with wraiths along the byway
I just wanna keep it while I hide
cos its my life
Now I'm involved with whats goin' down
For Merry and Bilbo so they aren't cut down
Tomorrow'll be harder make no mistake
The road to mordor is what we're gonna have to take
Its my ring for now and ever
Cos now I'm gonna live forever
I just wanna keep it while I hide
(the ring is mine) the road is an open highway
with balrogs on the byway
Ijust wanna keep it while I hide
cos the ring is mine
The others stand tall while i hide back
dont bend or break into a body stack
its my ring for now and ever
cos now i'm gonna live forever
i just wanna keep it while i hide
(the ring is mine) my road is an open highway
with the eye at every doorway
i just wanna keep it while i hide
(the ring is mine) my road is an open highway
if we could just find a dryway
I just wanna keep it while i hide
cos its my ring
what do you think i also have
I see a little silouhetto on the wall
Its a wraith! Its a wraith!
Its time to run away now
and by the way Dido has made a song called my lovers gone and it just reminds me of elvves ?!?!

‘I want it all,’ by Queen
‘I want the ring,’ by Elfmaster XK (sung by Gollum)
The one ring seeker, on empty streetses
A dark alley creeper, light on his feetses
Once young and free, without no doubts
Then we found the ring, and there’s no way outs
The Bagginses stole it! Then it gots away
Now we’re gonna find it, so get out of our way!
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
And we wants it now!
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
And we wants it now!
Listen now my precious, we’ll make no sound
Gotta get the precious, put Baggins in the ground
Just give us, oh what I know is mine
We only wants it, for the rest of time
It’s not much we’re asking, come away from that tower
Frodo I’ll take it, my ring of power
Hey! We wants the ring
Give us the ring
We wants the ring!
Hey! We wants the ring
We wants the ring
We wants the ring
And we wants it now!
Yes we wants it yeah!
Now we wants it
We wants the ring
And we wants it now!
Gollum Gollum, We wants the ring!
So much to do with it, I’ll be the king!
No, we won’t compromise
We just wants the ring
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
And we wants it now!
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
I wants the ring
And we wants it now!
And for the second...
‘Pain for pleasure’ by Sum 41
‘Ring of Power’ by Elfmaster XK
The Orcs departed
The end has started
The skies all turn to black
There will be killing the free, for eternity
Sauron will stab you in the back!
Midnight now you must destroy the ring somehow
Or we’ll torture you for leisure
You can’t do it now, it will survive somehow
We’ll give you pain for the ring of power
Ring of power, it won’t let you get on by,
Ring of power, Sauron is watching all the time!

KEPT YOU FROM THE ORODRUIN HEAT HOW PRECIOUS
TAKING A RIDE; CAUGHT BY ALL THOSE ORCS WAS SO PRECIOUS
BUT YOU KNOW I AM HITTIN' THE BRICKS 'CAUSE I'M PRECIOUS
MADE ME WANNA, MADE ME WANNA, YOU MADE ME TAKE IT
OH, YOU'RE SO MEAN
EAST TO MORDOR AND THE CRACKS OF DOOM WAS REAL PRECIOUS
THE STAIRS TO CIRITH UNGOL COMING INTO VIEW HOW PRECIOUS
IT'S A PITY THAT GOLLUM RUINED MY TRIP 'CAUSE YOUR PRECIOUS
I SHOULDN'T LET MY DEFENSES SLIP YOU'RE TOO PRECIOUS
MADE ME WANNA, MADE ME WANNA, YOU MADE ME KEEP IT
OH, YOU'RE SO MEAN
WE WENT AROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND AND ROUND THE LONG WAY
WE COULDN'T DO IT, DO IT, DO IT, DO IT ON THE SUMMIT
OH MAYBE MAYBE I 'N' GOLLUM HAVE A DESTINY
WE WAS A DUET OH WE DID IT ALL RIGHT
I WAS FEELING KIND OF ETHEREAL 'CAUSE I'M PRECIOUS
I HAD THE "EYE" ON YOUR IMPERIAL YOU'RE SO PRECIOUS
NOW SARUMAN THE WHITE AND MR GRIMA BOTH PLAYED
TRAPPED IN A TOWER THAT THEY NEVER MADE
BUT NOT ME BABY I'M TOO PRECIOUS I HAD TO FLY OFF
MADE ME WANNA, MADE ME WANNA, YOU MADE ME BREAK IT
OH, YOU'RE SO MEAN

come on son your packing too slow
la da da da daaaa da daaaaa (chorus coming up :P)

Okay! I added the new songs, now I'm ready to send it out. Anyone else want it, while I'm sending it? ("The Lord of the Rhymes")

Gladly :) Anyone else? Oh, and don't kill me, Cirdan, but I had to change your last song to lower case for condensing purposes, as the songbook is about 39 pages now. If this bothers you greatly, I will change it. Let me know! :)

Never kill bearers of gifts:) The last one I cheated and skraped the original lyrics from a web site (with all caps). Sometimes I feel less than inspired.

Oh good, I am safe from the hypothetical wrath of hypothetical angry songwriters :D
Okay, now I am ready to send "Lord of the Rhymes" off to everyone else! Hope everyone enjoys it!

Have you got a front cover yet? If you havent can I make one? I'm off school all today and I'm bored so i have the spare time!
Eruviel Greenleaf
03-22-2002, 04:52 AM
Do make a cover, StrawberryIcecream! That would be cool :D Lucky you, being off school. . .we almost had a snow day today--er, yesterday. But then the snow melted!
StrawberryIcecream
03-22-2002, 05:23 AM
oh how I long for snow:(
Shall the cover be A4 or A5 and any idea what to put on it?
Characters from films?
Elfmaster XK
03-22-2002, 05:44 AM
Can i have a copy please?
A cover would be good, but comeone needs to credit all the original songs don't they?
I'm gonna write a poem about all the writers now, perhaps to begin the book...

How is this for a conclusion?
I know its not quite right yet but I'll work on another.
This book has now come to an end,
Everything’s finished,
A message we send,
No matter the problem,
No matter the woe,
Whoever is troubling you,
Friend or foe,
Look at our stories,
Sung to a tune,
And remember the hobbits,
Upon a full moon.

Okay, here's the poem, now i know iv'e missed people out but that is not intentional, i just couldn't go back through 23 pgs and couldn't remember everyone, so please write a verse for yourself, and if i've been mean to you or said something you don't like feel free to change it.
The Lords of the Rhymes
By Elfmaster XK
Life was once a boring thing
So dull and full of s**t
The we found the Lord of the Rings
Needed songs and words to fit
There’s StrawberryIceCream first
She started with a song
And Rosie-lass was afraid to write
For fear of getting it all wrong
Eowyn 144, she didn’t want to have a go
She thinks she hasn’t got the knack
But if she knew what some others would do
She’d soon see, talent, she doesn’t lack
Eruviel, our noble note taker
Had initiative to write it all up
She kindly voulenteered herself
To compile a short song book
Our newest writer, Dwarven Sen
Has left us for two weeks
She’s taken up a pad and pen
To compose quietly away from freaks (it rhymed, anything better?)
Then Cirdan, he’s the man
He takes time to get his songs done
But all the effort he puts in
Make his songs set to stun
Finally, Arathorn stands out above us all
The master for all time
Cirdan, our god of titles
Names him ‘Lord of the Sometime Rhyme.’
Also i wrote another song at midnight last nite. Not that good due to tiredness and lack of sleep over this week...here goes.
‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ by Elton John
‘Can You Find The Ring Tonight’ by Elfmaster XK
[Frodo]
Now I’m getting closer
To the centre of the fray
Where the always watching eye
Can’t be turned away.
[Sauron]
Some kind of trouble’s brewing
I feel the ring here or there
And I know that Baggins is near
I just can’t see where.
[Frodo]
And can you find the ring tonight?
As I’m climbing ever higher
I’ll take it to the cracks of doom
And cast it to the fire.
Your Orcs will never find us
Though we are right here
When they search because of Sam
They see a warrior to fear
[Sauron]
There’s a time an reason
Why it’s you who brings the ring
Soon you’ll drop it right into my palm
And I’ll crush your precious king!
[Frodo]
And can you find the ring tonight?
No, it’s laid to rest
Sauron and the ring are defeated
This is the end of the quest.
Now Sauron’s gone away tonight
All is laid to rest
Evil is gone and a new age begins
But I’ll retreat into the West.

StrawberryIcecream, if you are able to attatch it ever, do send it to me! Now I have to go add all the new songs and poems--they are much needed in the songbook! I like your poem, Elfmaster! :) So, I guess I'll add the rest tonight. Problem is, we keep thinking of new songs, so I don't think it will ever be complete!

well, if you ahve, then you will know what i am talking about when i say im rewriting sugar high by coyote shivers. he totally rocks, as does sugar(ina completely NON drug addict way, i just happen to like chocolate)
but to be honest, i don't actually see the need in bagging that son,g as hardly n e one will have heard of it n e way. im gonna shut up now.

Ok, I havent seen the movie, but I sure have heard it this morning.
Ok. GG brought in a tape player and a copy of Sugar High, and then the head of Maths, Mrs. Bentley told us off for playing it too loud, seriously, it was so funny, she is so small and she was screaming her head off, and GG was doing these v. funny air guitar actions and her hair was all over the place and Mrs. B walks in. You had to have been there to find it funny.
It was.
:D
P.S. Thankyou, Eruviel, for using my, quite frankly unimagainative name for the song book as well. The Entmoot Alternative LotR Songbook does explain the purpose quite well, though.;)

Ahh! The pink is making me blurry-eyed!!

Still, i have another song!!
GG you think no one will know your song? NO one (however knowledgeable) will know the original of this so you’ll have to read it as poetry I suppose. Not even the Lord of the Sometime Rhyme will know!!Please like it!
The Only One Ring by Elfmaster XK – A song for Sauron
If I were ever alone, you’d be right there on my hand
If you were lost I could sense you in my land
If the whole world walked out and turned away
It doesn’t matter; with you I’ll kill them anyway!
‘Coz you’re the only One ring
The only ring I need
A power when I need it
You are part of me
Yeah, you’re the only One ring
When I’ve forgotten why I’m stuck in this tower
You’ll remind me that we want ultimate power
You’ll tell me we can take all their towers and halls
You’re the ring of power, the One to rule them all!
Chorus
I’ve met other rings along the way
But unlike you, they have nothing to say
Everyone needs a friend to take over everything
That’s you; you’re my One ring
Chorus
You’re my only One ring
The only ring I’ll ever need
A power to destroy them all
You’re a part of me
Yeah, you’re the only One ring
The only One I need
My only, the only One ring.
