Telcontar_Dunedain
03-30-2005, 04:34 PM

Last Child of Ungoliant
03-30-2005, 04:38 PM

Radagast The Brown
03-31-2005, 05:26 PM
I think it's by Bilbo, in Rivendell. (after the song about Earendil)

A rather easy one since I don't have much time - What's the name of the river that passes in the Old Forest?

Telcontar_Dunedain

Spock
04-16-2005, 10:11 AM
Well six days and no reply. Personally I've been out of it w/Rx and haven't looked. RTB, you decide whether to change the question or give us mere mortals a few days more. :)

Radagast The Brown

Spock
04-17-2005, 12:19 AM
The History Channel over here has been showing what happened on the dates matching current dates, and just finshed the week with Buchenwald and Belger Berson )not sure on last spelling). Eisenhower had as many local in and media from all over to see and make sure no one ever forgot. Yet with all this in their faces, signs are rising in parts of Germany and France once more. Never give in, never surrender and never stop being vigilant.

Telcontar_Dunedain

Spock
04-22-2005, 07:08 PM
Can you check this please, as I don't remember Frodo being stabbed by an Orc in FOTR.

Frodo wasn't stabbed. He was speared. Aaragorn clove the helm of the orc in two. Does that correct and give answer to the question?

Telcontar_Dunedain
04-23-2005, 06:15 AM
I was looking for the cloven helm part. Your go Spock.

Spock
04-23-2005, 12:26 PM

Lotesse
05-15-2005, 10:17 PM

Last Child of Ungoliant

Lotesse
05-19-2005, 01:04 PM
Treasures, like Smaug-ish treasures, jewels and precious metals etc.?

Last Child of Ungoliant
05-19-2005, 02:17 PM
i am looking for one word in particular

Ms. Undomial
05-19-2005, 02:32 PM
"... All the top of your hill is full of tunnels, packed with chests of gold and silver, and jools, by what I've heard."

So i guess the answer would be 'Jools'?

Last Child of Ungoliant
05-19-2005, 02:35 PM
"... All the top of your hill is full of tunnels, packed with chests of gold and silver, and jools, by what I've heard."

So i guess the answer would be 'Jools'?
yes, exactly the spelling i wanted :D

Ms. Undomial
05-19-2005, 03:12 PM
The is probably very easy, but here it is anyway.

What is the name of the river that flows into the Nimrodel, which in turn flows into the Anduin?

Lotesse
05-19-2005, 03:44 PM
We're supposed to answer purely from memory, without referring to our books, right?

Last Child of Ungoliant
05-19-2005, 03:48 PM
We're supposed to answer purely from memory, without referring to our books, right?

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-19-2005, 04:26 PM
Celebrant?

Ms. Undomial
05-19-2005, 11:53 PM
Correct. Your go.

Spock
05-20-2005, 12:45 PM
We're supposed to answer purely from memory, without referring to our books, right?

Lotesse, LCOU has a faulty memory :D, initially memory was the idea but in reality as the questions got harder, using the books was permitted. I know most of us here have used that method and it's ligitamate.

Last Child of Ungoliant
05-20-2005, 04:18 PM

i never cheat! you mean i could all along? grarr ;)

Lotesse
05-20-2005, 07:25 PM
IMO, and this mind you is just my opinion, but shouldn't the trivia answers come just from recall, memory? If we can all reference books, then where's the fun, the challenge? I mean, maybe to some people it's a cheap thrill to be "right" all the time, but if it's "right" when any other sentient being with a knowledge of how to read and reference books can be "right"... it's truly kinda unfair to people like Chrys or anyone else well-versed in Tolkien from many long hours of careful, retentive reading. Othwerwise, WHAT is the point of testing one another's trivia-retention capabilities?

Spock
05-21-2005, 12:29 PM
This isn't for money, it's for fun :D Some members might have more to do than to memorize the entire works of Tolkein but still retain a desire to play trivia. Believe me, the questions are good and not all are easy. Oh, and don't get me started on "sentinent beings" or we'll have to open another thread. :D :D
Some are unconscious.

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 12:46 PM
Now it's Telcondar Dunedain's turn. TD, you out there?

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-21-2005, 02:30 PM
Just an easy one- How many days did it take Gandalf to reach Weathertop from Bree?

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 02:50 PM
2 days?

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-21-2005, 03:03 PM
Correct

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 03:12 PM
Wow, I got it right! Hmmm, my question is...
In Fellowship (the book), who was the first one to physically touch the Ring besides obviously Frodo who had it in his possesion already?

Telcontar_Dunedain
05-21-2005, 04:30 PM
Gandalf

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 05:42 PM
Did Gandalf actually lay hands on the metal of the Ring? I thought he wouldn't touch it, I think I need to check my own facts. I'm thinking of someone else, it wasn't Gandalf I was thinking of - so hold on a sec, be right back -

Last Child of Ungoliant
05-21-2005, 05:42 PM
tom bombadil is a merry fellow
bright blue his jacket is and his boots are yellow

Lotesse
05-21-2005, 05:44 PM
Yeah, that's who I was thinking of -Tom Bombadil touched the Ring first, and had no problem with it. If you and I are correct, Chrys, then it's your turn.

Spock
05-26-2005, 03:30 PM

Lotesse
05-28-2005, 04:42 PM

Telcontar_Dunedain
06-09-2005, 11:14 AM
What was given out when Gandalf arrived in the Shire?

Spock
06-11-2005, 10:47 AM
Well after unloading Gandalfs wagon, Bilbo gave a few pennies out to the kids. Other than that, fireworks by G, but I don't remember them being "given".

Telcontar_Dunedain
06-11-2005, 01:46 PM
No fireworks were let off, but pennies was the answer I was looking for.

Spock
06-12-2005, 11:00 AM
What did Galadriel have in her hands when first seen aboard her ship?

Last Child of Ungoliant
06-12-2005, 11:26 AM

durinsbane2244

a needle, a pipe, a joint, some powder, a small packet of "baking soda", "tylonal", a "coca-cola", some "special k", some "drugs that are used by middle-earth dwelling creatures that I can't think of a food to represent", or maybe, just maybe, it was a gun, than again, maybe "not". . . . . . .

Lotesse
06-14-2005, 11:46 AM

They do it like Special Forces do. One rope across tied to a tree, then two more, one tied shoulder height and the other half as high. You hold on to those as you walk across the first rope.
