Aaah, that has been a while, isn't it? Go us indeed! :p
Posting is indeed a little slow, people must be busy. There's no rush but it would be nice if posts came a little faster. Still, there have been longer times of silence and we always pulled through. :) So, no worries, eh?
I'll try and post in the story thread on friday or saterday. (as soon as I determined what I'm going to post. ;))

A friend of mine (and Willow's...er....) emailed me...
Among other things, the question:
"And how insane ARE all you people in the TLA?"
Hm. Shall we give him an answer? :D
Christiana
02-20-2004, 12:52 AM
Words couldn't describe us! :D
Tell him to read the TLA, Return of TLA, and The Sillymarillion
Count Comfect
02-20-2004, 01:48 AM
*cough* AS the person who asked that (unless Tano has other mysterious friends who also know Willow who are stalking me and asks the same questions) *cough* let me concur with Christiana that your previous works, which I have just finished reading, stand as quite the answer to my question.

Why, good morning, county!
If you've read through everything, I'm fairly sure you can join...we need a little new blood about now. Things are going slow.
And I like your choice of signature. :)

Another Seattle-ite eh? Darn things are breeding faster than rabbits.... ;)
You've read through all the three games?! Wow, you're brave! :p
Sooo... how insane do you really think we are? :)

Breeding? No, just recruiting, besides, if my Count joins, then I'll relinquish my claim on Glorfindel to Elf Girl if she still wants him.
You've read through all the three games?! Wow, you're brave!
Braver than you think. Tano's right though, we do need someone new, we're running out of ideas, much as it grieves me to say it.
Christiana

Hey! I've got ideas, just not many on Beren and Luthien. I got plenty of ideas for Tears Unnumbered.(or, should i say, Beers Unnumbered)

Are we running out of ideas? I didn't know that, I thought we were just running out of enthousiasm.
There is what, still a handfull of us posting? That is very little compared to our cast we had in the middle of LoTR. So why are the people we still have not posting? Is it the lack of time? No inspiration? I don't know. :( Maybe we do need some new blood.

If I may make so bold, I think you all are actually just going through a periodic dip in posting. As one who has VERY recently read through your entire discussion thread, I've noticed points with posts along these lines before... and it always perks up. *does looooong double take, and starts nodding very rapidly* On the other hand, maybe you really do need someone new - can I join up?
P.S. It didn't take much bravery to read them... they're very very funny. And you are all totally, completely, and utterly insane. But that's a good thing where I come from.
Earniel

Thanks for your encouraging words, CC. :) And you're welcome to the TLA. Now all we have to do is find a decent spot to get you in.

I trust the 'count' in your screen name signifies that you're a boy?
Count Comfect
02-21-2004, 07:07 PM
Yes, I am a boy. At least, last I checked. SOME people I know in this group seem to keep wanting me to play girls... ;)
And thank you very much. Good to hear someone I didn't already know say I can join. :)

Well, you would be funnier as Juliet than me. (Wow, that grammar was terrible...) And humor is what it's all about.
I'd post, but I haven't read much of the Sil and I really don't know what else happens at this point.

*grabs Tanoliel by her collar, puts her in a room with no windows, shoves a copy of the Silmarillion in her hands and a handful of chocolate bars. Then locks the door with Tano inside.*

Ja, no kidding. But I wouldn't worry. County Comfection is entirely mad already, aren't you?
Yeah. He is. So no worries. :)

Meeep! No windows! *sulks* Fne. I'll read it eventually! I'm in the middle of the beginning of the end of my senior year of highschool! Stress and lack of time are constant companions! *meebles away, hugging Sil to her*
Count Comfect
02-23-2004, 01:04 AM
Mad? Why, yes I am. Thought that was plain enough already without me saying that. I mean, I want to join you guys... think about it. ;)
And Tano, you now have no excuse to not read, since you are done with college apps!
Question: since the next thing that happens in the Tolkien version is the Carcharoth/Beren showdown, can I do Carcharoth (who doesn't appear to have ..er... appeared)?
Finrod Felagund
02-23-2004, 01:15 PM
Hmmm...we could do some very fun stuff with Carcaroth, however, we've also still got Turin...and Tuor...so you have some options!

The beginning of the end... How dramatic. Don't worry Tano, I won't lock you up but it would be nice if you knew the Sil well enough to write on the RPG. :) But no need in stressing you overmuch.

Well I just posted an intro to Carcharoth... or Countaroth? ;) So if you want to do the big puppy, be my guest. We'll just have to work our way around you dying soon because otherwise, you'll have a very short TLA-career.
For everybody else- I brought Mr. Nelson in again, now he may be a little more suspicious and might realise there may be some people from his own time around too. (That be us, if I'm not mistaken, the memory is turning a little fuzzy once in a while) Just creating a little suspense. :D
As usual: will edit if somebody doesn't agree.
Count Comfect

As you can probably see, decided not to actually BE Carcharoth, just write him/it in. It would be awfully awkward to die about 3 posts after appearing. :)

u can die and then come back, about 50 people have done that.
last time i checked, the ones still posting are me, CC, FF, Earniel, tano, and willow. Can some of you guys go and wake up all the other Seattleites? That would bring a couple of people back into the game.

Mr. Nelson is going to become my sworn enemy right now. Bringing guns into Middle Earth. Bastard.
The reason I haven't been posting is that my charactor is DEAD! Oh well, that's never stopped me before. See ya later.
Earniel
02-24-2004, 04:51 PM
You died? I was thinking Sauronkatt had gotten away alive after the show down with the giant chihuahua.
Yes, Mr. Nelson is some nasty piece of work but with the proper nudging, he might become an interesting villain.... We haven't had a decent enemy since the Smaugettes.
Katt_knome_hobbit
02-24-2004, 05:12 PM
Oh, whatever. I got away. Something.
MR. NELSON is gonna get it from me when he's finally defeated. Only evil can give evil what it so rightiously deserves.

Hey, wait a nanosecond! I'm still posting!
...just don't have any Carcharoth ideas.....
By the way, welcome to the TLA Count Comfect! The world of the pink fluffy bunnies, dead people who aren't really dead, strange plot twists, and chocolate-crazy-people awaits. Have fun. :D

My cat is named Jinx too. :D He's a adorably demonic little feline who likes to think people's hands are mice, catches birds and spreads feather all over the place, and attacks the feet of whoever is unlucky enough to get up first. (Which is why I never get up before 6:00 to do homework... )
What's your Jinx like?
Christiana
02-25-2004, 01:20 AM
Yes, we ARE all insane here. but proud of it:D
btw: love your sig willow. thats a cool poem
Earniel
02-25-2004, 06:22 AM
Another Jinx, how nice! :D My Jinxie a big black cat. He follows me around and sleeps on the table next to me when I'm working on the computer. He doesn't hunt people's bodyparts, in fact hunting is far too much excercise, he likes getting his food in his bowl better. But he can be so incredibly moody at times.
Christiana, Mr Nelson isn't spreading evil, just modern inventions. And the TLA would never be sane enough to stop chasing chocolate, at least I wouldn't. :p
Willow Oran
02-25-2004, 06:23 PM
Thanks, it's the last two verses of The Highwayman.
My Jinx is black and white, sort of a short hair Sylvester cat if you know what I mean. He can be really sweet, but he's still just a couple years old and in the more playful stages of life.

You can't stand Tolkien parody anymore? Ouch, that's bad. I suppose that's a side effect of being a PPC-agent.
Still, we'll miss ya, Elf Girl. :( I suppose I should refrain from calling you Gandgirl from now on then. You will continue to post on the 'moot in the other forums, won't you?

Suddenly, and without warning, Mango the Uber Noob burst on the scene in a shower of yellow feathers and crimson sequins and squeaked heartily in a mid to post pubescent voice:
"Can I join?? Can I? Can I?"
Although I haven't read the Sil all the way through a do have a copy to my name, and this threaded sounded far to good to pass up.
Finrod Felagund

Really you need to read the first two TLA RPGs first, they're kinda long, but if you have then we are always welcoming new members.

I say we let Mango join, I'm sure it'll catch on quickly enough.
Mango
03-05-2004, 02:11 AM
It?! I take offence to that! :P (I'm actually of the female persuasion, if that helps your use of gender modifiers.)
As for the TLA, it's all chocolate, elves and insanity right? (I'm reading the thingy..."Silly" from the beginning and that seems to be the gist of it.)
Finrod Felagund
03-05-2004, 10:40 AM
Have you read the actual Silmarillion, 'cuz that would help. That's what we're parodying, but I see no problem with you joining!
Earniel
03-05-2004, 07:44 PM
I gather from her post that she has read at least some part of it, Finrod.
Welcome to the Entmoot, Mango. :) I hope you'll like it here. Chocolate and insanity and Tolkien are pretty much the basic requirements for the TLA. :D
Try and read the other two role plays we've done when you've got a large amount of time on your hands. Personally I think they're a little better at times than our current game. It's also convenient knowing from them what's the history behind our game. But I suppose Willow has a point that you'll probably catch on quick enough without them.
Now we'll only need to find a good spot for getting your character in. We still have to do the same with Count Comfect if I'm not mistaken....
Which reminds me, the chapter of Lúthien and Beren is nearing its end. How will we continue to the next chapter?
Mango
03-05-2004, 09:06 PM
Hee hee. Thank you Earniel! (If I knew how to do those little dots over the "a" I would have. Sadly, not too computer savy...)
I would like to appear in the form of a small fuzzy gray and white flop eared rabbit named Bun Bun. Between evil kitties devouring hands and Giant chihuahuas and werewelves and TLAers running a muck nobody quite knows where the Sillymerils are at the moment. How about I'll just pick them up and barter a place into the TLA with them?
Finrod Felagund
03-05-2004, 10:17 PM

Earniel, i believe that after Beren and Luthien live happily ever after and all that, the elves try to assult Morogoth's domain. However, the scouts (aka us) who were supposed to be watching for solicitors, found a large stash of chocolate and mirivour and beer. Thus they were too drunk to give warning, and the armies got slaughtered. The battle should be christianed Beers Unumbered

Well, I started it. I don't have any great ideas though. Any thoughts? Anyone?
Earniel
05-02-2004, 09:04 AM
I'll repost the list of what we still can do with the sillymarillion from a previous post of mine.
1. Have fun at the feast of reuniting.
2. Haul in the weeklings... I mean... Men.
3. Battle of the Sudden Flame and death of Fingolfiana.
4. The tale of Beren and Morauthien
5. Turin's tale
6. The end of Doriath
7. Gondolin (from Eöl to the end)
8. Eärendil's tale
9. The big battle (in which we hopefully we'll have a final show down with melkor, Ulrica and Mr. Nelson.
10. We can do the Akallabêth as a dessert if there's anyone still interested in it after all of that.
Hm, seems I forgot to mention this battle in its entirety. :p Oh well, could we perhaps keep it brief? I'm not all too fond of battles and since this particular battle is so terrible for the Elves, it'd be extremely hard to make it funny. In any case I don't have much good ideas for it. So could we wrap it up in a post or 2 and move on to Turin's tale? What do you say?
Count Comfect
05-02-2004, 03:59 PM
That sounds great! But I'm not going to do it... idealess. Hope someone has an idea.
Earniel
05-02-2004, 04:06 PM
Give it a day or two and if nobody has had a good idea for this by then I'll try the slightly lousy one I had.
Earniel
05-11-2004, 09:08 AM
No takers then? Alrightie...
EDIT: There, not perfect but we're all set for the next tale. I hope nobody minds I stuffed the whole battle into one measly post. Does anyone has any good idea for Túrin's tale?
Arcala
05-13-2004, 06:57 PM
Morwen could have tried to send Turin to Thingol with whoever was available, and perhaps (unfortunately for Turin) the TLA are the only ones that Morwen sees so little Turin gets to travel with us to Thingol!
I don't know. Is that a bad idea?
Do we have someone who is playing Turin?

If it's okay with you I'm going to make it a little bit earlier so that we'll escort Turin to Thingol instead of already taking Morwen there.
Turin will probably be a public character, for everybody to play unless somebody wants to have him.

We could be helping Beleg, it all depends on what people post about it....
if they ever do
Earniel
06-09-2004, 06:04 PM
We could... or we could not. Question is: Does Beleg need our help?
Or more accurate: does Beleg want our help?
And the most important: Did we ever care about what somebody else wanted? :p

Yes, yes, I get the hint.
Now that you've claimed Túrin, how are we going to call your sillymarillionified Túrin-character? Count Túrin? Comfecin? Comturin? Countúrin? Hm, I quite like the last one... :D

How dreadful...has TLA DIED?!
Earniel
08-18-2004, 01:39 PM
Perhaps, it was bound to happen some day.... I was hoping we could keep it off until we finished it. So I'm thinking people are a little bussy right now with holidays, colleges and whatnot and that some at least will post again soon.

It's over more than a year now since the Sillymarillion started, so let's get a status report.
I'd like to know just how many of us are still here and how many still want to continue. Many have moved on to greener pastures so I'd like to know how many of us remain.
I'd like to see the Sillymarillion ended properly but there is no shame in giving up now. The TLA went on for 2 years and a half and that is some achievement! Besides we won't be the first who broke their teeth on the Silmarillion.
So, my friends, what say you?

Just wanted to pop in briefly to say good job! Excellent work on keeping the RPG going so long! Marvelous what a bunch of dedicated roleplayers can do :).

Hi guys!
I don't exist, I'm just dropping by to say I LOVE YOU ALL.
I had a bizarre dream last night where I met a bunch of you at a Tolkien convention, but none of you would tell me which one of you was which, so I thought Tano was Eruviel etc. And then it got all twisted up with the Olympics and you were all volleyball players-
...okay, I'll shut up.
School starts in a few weeks- I might come back and start RPing then, I've had something of a change of heart... but I'm technically not online at all until then.
*massive hugs for all TLAers*

Lordy, I haven't been here in FOREVER!
...how bizarre. It's changed, hasn't it? Whoa...
(Yeah, you can see how up to date I've been.)
I too would like to see the Silly ended properly, but I can't really do much myself since I don't know the book very well. It feels like TLA has sort of died out...which is sad, but it had to happen sometime. If someone wants to write a big happy ending post I wouldn't object...*sheepish grin*

Elf Girl! How wonderful to see you in here again. :) It would be nice if you could rejoin us but it will take a wee bit more than me and you to restart the TLA again, I fear.
Tano! long time no see too. :) You don't feel any urge to read the Silmarillion and enter the game again, do you? If not, I understand but you see, I had to ask.
Supposedly if I have enough time and inspiration I might attempt to conclude the Sillymarillion on my own but it wouldn't be half as funny without the input of the rest of you. It will in no doubt require more than a big happy ending ;) as we're quite in the middle of things.
In any case, I've decided to wait until the end of the month and if no one else wishes to continue by then I will consider the chapter of the TLA closed.

know what...I've been lacking in inspiration, but I'll go back and skim the Sil, and our first 2 TLA's and see if my mind can be peaked...

TLA?
TLA is still alive???

AND IT IS?
Wow. Good job, everyone.

It's still alive as yet, but you may have come just in time to see its demise, though...
Are you still interested in playing?

09-25-2004, 01:25 PM
Well I WANT to. It's just that I don't know if I CAN. I'm so busy this year. But to see TLA through to its conclusion might be worth getting even less sleep.
So I'll do it. I have to read the Silm some more, though, it's been a few years since I read it. And I actually don't have a set character in this, as I've only actually posted a few times. But that's okay. I can make things up as I go.
Earniel
09-25-2004, 01:34 PM
Well, considering that in a month time only 4 players have stated their interest in continuing the TLA, the game -if it gets started up again- will not move too fast. So you might be well able to keep up. But it's your decision, I don't want you to tax your year overmuch, least of all your sleep, but you yourself will know best if you're able to participate again or not.
But I'd love to see our baby take off again. :) It would be nice if you could visit post on it, it doesn't have to be every week.
You do sort of still have a character, we've kept circulating the names of the TLA-members somewhat, even if the owners hadn't visited for a long time. If I'm not mistaken, your character Ren is still there, saying a few things once in a while and ready to be played again by you. But I trust you'd have to read up on a lot of material.
Renille
09-25-2004, 01:39 PM
I DO have alot of reading up to do...hmm...I should go search for that thread now.
And Ren is still there? Oh goody! Oh, I miss Aragren. And Thoren. I was reading the first TLA again, and it was wonderful...insanely wonderful, but wonderful.
I really hope more people come...that would be incredible. I do want to see this through.

Fine.
I'll get him later.

Earniel
10-16-2004, 03:19 PM
What next then? When's he gotta slay the dragon and all that?
Not just yet. First he has to get cosy with Gwindor's girl friend, bring on the downfall of Nargothrond, run off, marry his sister and then he gets to slay the dragon and visa versa. Do you have aspirations to be Glaurukatt? ;)

C'mon guys, it's been a week (I know, I know, we've had many many longer breaks. But I don't want this to die again)! I don't like doubleposting...

Yeah time change, I'm in Europe. But I get email notifications when somebody posts in this thread, I just stupidly overlooked it this time. Oh well...
OOC: YAY! Killing! I can't belive I have to play a weepy little helpless devotchka. Anyway, I just realized that I torture this guy, let him go, fall in love with him and ultimatly kill him. What a twisted relationship. That's what happens when you triple cast!
Triple casting? You're going to be Nienokatt too? Oh wait, Saurokatt, Findukatt and Glaurukatt. I get it, I'm a little slow today. It reminds me of a T-shirt text: "I used to be schizofrenic but we're okay now." :D
Count Comfect
11-04-2004, 03:50 PM
Hmmm... as Christiana very accurately points out, we've been calling Finrod King of Nargothrond... and he isn't... in fact he's sort of deadish. What do we do?
Earniel
11-04-2004, 06:12 PM
No, not really. This Finrod is our TLA-er also better known as Finrollum. If I'm not mistaken he came back from the dead just like Christiana did when impersonating Fingolfin, if I'm not mistaken that is.
EDIT:I just checked in the game thread. I'm not mistaken, he did return, check the end of the Morauthien and Beren chapter.

Do we have to have someone play her, or is she ok as just "Nienor" for now?
Earniel
11-16-2004, 05:40 AM
Who would want to be a woman that goes running naked into the wild and marries her brother?
Rethorical question, BTW. :p
Anyone who wants Nienor can play her for all I'm concerned, otherwise we'll keep her a public character like the late Beleg, Thingol and all the other ones.

So Counturin's tale is coming to an end. Count Comfect, I hope you will remain with the TLA under another incarnation? (It's just that if you stopped posting now, it seems I'll be the only one left. Please don't do that to me. :( )
According to the list of events-to-do (http://entmoot.tolkientrail.com/showpost.php?p=287996&postcount=1159) we compiled earlier, I think the end of Doriath is the next chapter to do. But seen the marginally interest in the TLA these days, maybe were best if we go to Gondolin if we ever want to finish the Sillymarillion. What'd ya (all) think?
Count Comfect
12-01-2004, 06:04 PM
Not leaving. Wouldn't dream of it :) I love the TLA.
I personally would support Doriath, but I'd do whatever, so I think it is more important that we get input from some of the members who don't post so often (so maybe they'll come back?).
Earniel
12-01-2004, 06:12 PM

That's no excuse, young lady. You will borrow somebody's Silmarillion, add it to the first place in your reading list, sit down and read the thing cover to cover. Pronto!
You've been saying you're going to read it for the last half year or so. No more excuses! :p But do go on and spread the poking.

Earniel
12-05-2004, 02:34 PM
Ahem, people, did I say you could leave? No, I didn't. :p Now get back here and help us decide how to proceed: the destruction of Doriath or the destruction of Gondolin?
Count Comfect
12-05-2004, 03:01 PM
I already voted, but I have to concur... VOTE. However, I don't remember getting an opinion from you either, Eärniel. ;)
Earniel
12-05-2004, 07:17 PM
Hey, I posed the original question! :p I don't have give out opinions, I'm asking them! Although on re-reading, you may note a slight preference for Gondolin, if no one else but the two of us starts to post seriously again.
Count Comfect
12-05-2004, 07:29 PM
Oh, be that way :p but then we're at loggerheads without *cough* ANOTHER VOTE *cough* because I lean ever so slightly to Doriath. Slightly.
Earniel
12-06-2004, 03:49 AM
Fne.... hmpf...
I could say I yield to the will of the majority but if you lean slightly to Doriath and I just as slightly lean to Gondolin AND NOBODY ELSE VOTES, we're so screwed. :p
Count Comfect
12-06-2004, 10:50 AM
Exactly my point. Unless SOMEONE ELSE THINKS TO VOTE, this is going nowhere
Arcala
12-07-2004, 04:20 PM
Um. Don't both get destroyed, in the Sil? Or are we just ignoring that?
Count Comfect
12-07-2004, 05:51 PM
We're deciding whether to actually enact the destruction of Doriath, or just skip on to the destruction of Gondolin. Clearly, both occur in the actual Sil, but we're trying to gauge interest in doing Doriath.
Earniel
12-07-2004, 08:14 PM
Yeah, the point is that PEOPLE DON'T POST ENOUGH, so we were wondering -with so few players - whether we should skip wrecking Doriath and go straight to wrecking Gondolin. If we skip Doriath, we have less material to cover and we might be able to finish the game before what little interest there is left, runs out. So we're trying to get people's opinion on this, but clearly people aren't being cooperative... :p Why am I laughing? That isn't a good thing.
Count Comfect
12-07-2004, 11:44 PM
Indeed it is not a good thing :(, but if Arcala helps us :) then it gets much better. We might even be able to get some momentum

Ooh, you want to join us, Elenmire? :) Nice! You do know what you're getting yourself into? Note to self: No! Don't tell her that, she'll run away! Eh, too late... I said it...
Well then, IF NOBODY ELSE VOTES QUICKLY, we'll be doing Doriath indeed.
Count Comfect
12-08-2004, 02:30 PM
Welcome, Elenmire! :)
I believe the destruction of Doriath begins with Hurin and Morwen, yes? And have we had a Hurin before? I can't seem to find one.
Yippee! Doriath!
Earniel
12-08-2004, 03:00 PM
Nope, didn't have a Hurin before, I don't think we ever even mentioned him. I believe we literally fast forwarded through that battle-chapter where he featured.
Count Comfect
12-08-2004, 05:03 PM
Yeah, looks like it. He seems to have been mentioned only once, by Finrod saying "and Hurin is captured."
Well, now I mentioned him.
Arcala
12-09-2004, 04:54 PM
Well, whichever way we go is fine with me.
...Although I think both of you are in different times zones than me, so we'll probably never be posting at the same time.
And welcome to our insane RPG, Elenmire! Please leave your brain at home.
Earniel
12-09-2004, 07:43 PM
Yeah, definitely different time zones, I'm in western Europe and CC is in America. But frankly that doesn't really matter, it's posting at the same time that would be a problem! :D All the posts would get mixed up.
No,don't tell Elemmire to leave her brain at the door! She'll need it! She just has ... to put it in insanity mode.
Count Comfect
12-09-2004, 07:44 PM
Which is like hero mode, only smarter.
And indeed, I am in the US (East US at the moment) but that is no problem at all!

And I will be out of town this weekend, sorry.

And yes, that does put us two in the same time zone. It's just Eärniel who is out of it :p

But, of course, when I go home I become a West Coaster again, so no worries :)

Guys, can you believe this place's got INTERNET?!
...of course, I left my Sil at home, so this doesn't help me any. So this post is just spam, really.
Yeah! Gang up on the Belgian!
Earniel, do not look at the above...
Katt_knome_hobbit
12-13-2004, 03:59 PM
Yes, Count Comfect abandoned us Seattleites in favor of a cozy upstart eastern college!
HOW COULD YOU?
oh well, we'll kick your ass when you get back.
I am so lost in this story. Are all my characters dead yet?
Count Comfect
12-13-2004, 05:04 PM
I sooooo did not abandon you. I'm coming back in a week and 2 days (wheeeeeeeeeeee!) . But yes, that is why I'm on the East Coast. Bahston.
Saurokatt's still going strong, last I checked. Glaurokatt's dead though, as is Findukatt. We're on to the whupping of Doriath.
Arcala
12-14-2004, 11:45 PM
OOC: Counturin, regrettably, just died. Going to have to come up with some sort identity for myself, but this one is dead. I sent flowers to my own burial. Anyway.
Well, I know that, but I didn't know what else to call you, I guess.
Count Comfect
12-15-2004, 12:33 AM
Interesting question that. I think I'm sort of not actually a traveling member of the TLA under the TLA brandname. More like a (hopefully, recurring) personage.
On another point, has anyone seen our counsellor? I heard a peep a few posts back, but nothing else since, oh, before Beren and Luthien.
Count Comfect
12-29-2004, 07:51 PM
Good news! On Friday I can atta... poke some nonposting TLAers.
Earniel
12-29-2004, 07:52 PM
Excellent. Poke them for me too.
Count Comfect
12-29-2004, 10:44 PM
Ohhhh yes, they shall be poked. With special Belgian import pokes, no less.
Earniel
12-30-2004, 05:01 PM
Special import, they're the best.
I know we still have to wrap up Doriath with Dior and the second Kinslaying but maybe we can plan ahead a little.
The tale of Gondolin (or Gondolina, the city of gondola's as we TLA-dified it, I believe) will finally be next.
For Gondolin we should start from the very beginning with Aredhel and Eöl and the birth of Tuor. This will mean we have to go back in time a little. Anyone any original ideas how to do that?
Count Comfect
12-31-2004, 02:03 AM
Doesn't Willow still have that remote control? That's an unoriginal idea ;)
Perhaps my actual ME could show up and have some way of doing it... no idea really though.
Earniel
12-31-2004, 04:46 AM
I think I depleted the batteries of Willow's remote to make sure it wouldn't get used much. Maybe we can find new batteries though. Or steal them from Mr. Nelson. That might give the bad guy some more screening and a better build up to our final confrontation.
Yes, you can show up, that may be more original and that way you'd have yourself a real TLA-character now that Counturin is 5 feet under. Only need a good way to do it...
Count Comfect
12-31-2004, 02:02 PM
I'm thinking lone survivor of Doriath/Oh wait, it's someone from our world, wonder how they got here/I've been tracking you through three flipping adventures, finally caught you.
But ooooh, good idea with stealing from Mr. Nelson...
Earniel
12-31-2004, 04:56 PM
How about we combine both ideas somehow... *just some thinking out loud brainstorming here, feel free to hit me over the head when I over-do it.*
How about this crazy thing:
So you've found a way into Middle-earth.
Let's say - by using our nice, twisted TLA-logic - that all things anachronistic tend to gravitate to the largest concentration of modern things in Middle-earth, which in this case is Mr. Nelson's workshop in Angband.
So you end up there.
Meanwhile we, meaning the already present members of the TLA, notice we have to go back in time to show Miriam the whole story (I bet she'll have a field day psycho-analysing Eöl and Maeglin). Since the remote control needs new batteries to do so, we decide to break into Angband to get some.
We meet, we get chased out. Mr. Nelson finally finds out we're from the modern world too and we go back in time to escape him and end up hiding in Gondolina since that's virtually the only place Morgoth, and thus Mr. Nelson, haven't descovered yet.
We'd have a bit more of an own, active story for the TLA since we've been basically only observing things here (which may be one of the reasons why so many people dropped out)
Count Comfect
01-01-2005, 05:18 PM
That actually sounds like a really good idea.
Earniel
01-01-2005, 07:19 PM
Really? You don't have to say that just to stay polite, you know. If my ideas suck, you can say so. ;) I can take it, I do!
I suppose it's little use asking other TLA'ers what they think of it since they post only once in a blue moon.... (This is were everyone says "I'm still playing!" and hits me over the head for presuming they're not :p)
Anyone else still here? Arcala? Anyone? No? Well, it was a nice try...
I suppose the idea is accepted then *ahem* unanimously. It's not really hard when there's just the two of us, CC, you need to do more poking over there!
Count Comfect
01-02-2005, 02:20 AM
I will tell you if the idea sucks... but I can't tell you it sucks if it doesn't ;) And it doesn't.
I've TRIED. Tano just stuck her tongue out at me when I mentioned it...

Ah, guys, I'm really sorry...I've got a science project due Thursday and it's taken over my brain...sorry! I'll post tomorrow, I swear! (And thanks for making me the smart, sarcastic one in all your posts too! It's cool when you come back from break and read that. :D )
Earniel
01-06-2005, 06:38 PM
It's okay, Arcala, RL gets precedence over role plays.
At this point CC and I are glad if somebody else even occasionally can throw in post or their own.
Arcala
01-06-2005, 09:07 PM
Thanks Earniel. Now, I said I would post, but Willow Oran got there first...anyway, do we have any plans for Gondolina?
Count Comfect
01-06-2005, 10:16 PM
Just go ahead and post, Arcala. We ALWAYS want other people to post.
And no, no plans for Gondolina except that that baby's gonna FALL. Hence the name "the Fall of Gondolina" actually. :p
Assuming they read this, Maggie and Katt, why weren't you at Nakka's birthday party on New Year's?
Willow Oran
01-06-2005, 10:30 PM
I don't know Katt's excuse, but mine is that I had a headache, and it was my Dad's birthday, and I didn't want to deal with the stress of dressing up and socializing and being around you for the first time since 'As You Like It'. Sorry Count, but I didn't have time to be mad at you before, and it's been building up since summer. But perhaps this is better left to a pm.
Count Comfect
01-06-2005, 10:33 PM
Most likely is better left to something else. I was just wondering.
So that makes 4 posting members in the last month... doubling the month before, I think. Excellent.
Earniel
01-07-2005, 06:48 AM
Alright! Postage! Woohoo! :D
Isn't it sad to see me getting so happy about a third person posting in this RPG in weeks' time? Sad, sad.
Nothing else is planned for Gondolina, except its fall and I think its resemblance to Venice...
Katt_knome_hobbit
01-07-2005, 02:59 PM

but I do feel bad. I will post tomorrow or you'll see me around with a red face.

Gah... I don't have my Sil and I can't find in the Discussion Project what happens next... ack. Help, Eärn?
Earniel
01-11-2005, 05:04 AM
I was thinking we go and see the meeting between Eöl and Aredhel of Gondolina. You know, they get married, they get a son Maeglin, and then Aredhel and Maeglin flee to Gondolina with Eöl on their track. Eöl and Aredhel die and Maeglin fancies his cousin Idril. Rings a bell?
Or am I doing this to soon and were you planning on first following Tuor's whole journey to Gondolina before switching to Maeglin? Then I'll only need to edit the last few sentences from my post.
Count Comfect
01-11-2005, 01:53 PM
I had no plan. I just had no idea where we were. Thanks :)
Earniel
01-11-2005, 03:49 PM
Oh. Okay then. :)
Count Comfect
01-15-2005, 01:19 AM
Alright, where are we going from here? Willow evidently wants us to be in Gondolin with ... a certain elf... ;) but are we going to follow Tuor? or Eol? (I'm guessing not, from the statement that Eol bores Willow) or what?
Earniel
01-15-2005, 06:35 AM
Well, since I'm not looking forward to a lot of posts of Willow cooing over Glorfindel in Gondolina ;) while Maeglin, Aredhel and Tuor take their time to get to Gondolina, I think this is a nice spot to split up. :D Made all the more easier since Willow didn't mention me yet. I'll follow Maeglin to Gondolina. Anyone else with me?
We can post Tuor's trip without us being there, or maybe the batteries in the remote are starting to get depleted and some of the TLA ended up somewhere halfway, which happens to be where Tuor is. That would be the end of that convenient plot device, so we won't be able to escape Mr. Nelson that way again later.
Arcala
01-15-2005, 03:07 PM
Not that big a fan of Glorfindel...so...hi Earniel! (And I liked Maeglin's tale a lot, so....yeah.)
Count Comfect
01-15-2005, 03:41 PM
Sounds good to me. Can I take someone (who do we still have) with my still-confused character and follow Tuor? Or, as I'm thinking, maybe drop him himself, and get him even MORE confused.
Earniel
01-16-2005, 06:08 AM
Sounds good to me. Can I take someone (who do we still have) with my still-confused character and follow Tuor? Or, as I'm thinking, maybe drop him himself, and get him even MORE confused.
You can take one of the posters-who-character-we-still-use-but-who-haven't-been-here-in-ages like Christiana and Ren, or you can take Miriam with you too. Hehee, confusion... :D
Count Comfect
01-16-2005, 03:55 PM
Sounds good to me. Confusion it is!
P.S. If any other poster does show up and want to follow me and the Counsellor (and Tuor) just say so, I can edit the number of people who fell from the sky.
P.P.S. Wasn't one of the ideas behind this trip that Willow would try to kiss Elven nobility to break a curse about her own body being in Middle Earth? And now she's in Gondolin? With Glorfindel? Right.
Earniel

I just hope good old Glorf is obliging :D . But hey-ho, time to go catch Tuor.
Earniel
01-17-2005, 10:48 AM
Well if he isn't obliging, they would have enough to keep themselves busy to make him so, until we get to Gondolina on the respective trails of Tuor and Maeglin. :p
Count Comfect
01-17-2005, 11:01 AM
I have a disturbing urge to kill Tuor and become him... would that be alright, or should I let him go unmolested? *questioning, puppy-dog look*
Earniel
01-17-2005, 11:22 AM
You could kill him accidentally (sort of like Homer Simpson "I wish,I wish I hadn't killed that fish"moment) and thus upset the Eru and the Valar so they command you to take his place so the story of Tuor unfolds as it should be. :D
Or you could attempt a merger of some sort between the RYM and Tuor, that way he would remain unmolested.
Gah! I'm torn! I like Tuor so I'd like to keep him unmolested, but I think accidentally killing him and taking his place may be .... interesting and fun. You can also accidentally misplace him so you have to take his place nevertheless to keep Gondolina's story going.
You decide whatever you think best.
Arcala
01-18-2005, 11:21 PM
I have no idea why I made you disappear at the end of my post, Earniel...so hopefully you can use it to your advantage! And if not...tell me and I'll edit... :D
Count Comfect
01-19-2005, 12:00 AM
Or she can just pop out and scare you ;)
Earniel
01-19-2005, 10:12 AM
No worries, I'll be back! :D
EDIT: There, I've made us Maeglin's nannies. That way we can ...um... encourage him and his mum to go back to Gondolina and go with them without having to tag along behind.
CC, so are you now Random Young Tuor? :D
Count Comfect
01-19-2005, 12:20 PM
Guesso.
:D
I like that name, actually. ;)
Earniel
01-19-2005, 01:12 PM
:D
OOC: Babysitters? AGAIN? Remember what happened with Turin?
Well, I don't see the problem. There's little more to Maeglin that we can possibly ruin. :D Besides, I never said that Eärniel was a imaginative thinker. ;)
Count Comfect
01-19-2005, 01:23 PM
Did I say there was a PROBLEM? I was just recalling some history. *looks innocent*
Earniel
01-19-2005, 01:31 PM
You were thinking it, admit it. In any case, if it is a problem, it's Eöl's and his wive's. :D
Count Comfect
01-19-2005, 02:27 PM
Who, me?
Yeah, I guess I was. :p And yes, it is Eol and co's problem.
Earniel
01-22-2005, 06:18 AM
I was thinking whether we shouldn't lay off turning every woman we meet into a chocoholic. Melian went fine, and Aredhel goes too but if we continue doing it, it might get boring after a while. Besides, chocoholicism used to be a characteristic of the TLA only. What do you think?
Willow Oran
01-22-2005, 09:13 PM
I think you are entirely right. After all, it wouldn't do for us to be suddenly outnumbered by elven chocoholics now would it? :p They'd be competing for our chocolate...
Count Comfect
01-23-2005, 01:23 AM
You may BE outnumbered by elven chocaholics soon. Eärniel's an elf, no? :p
Katt_knome_hobbit

Count Comfect
01-23-2005, 02:42 AM
Well, there are always scenes of plotting being done. :D
Earniel
01-23-2005, 09:47 AM
I am an Elven chocoholic (mark my title) and one of the first as far as I remember, I may add. But that doesn't count really because I am one of the TLA too. ;)
Katt, you could put Saurokatt in charge of destroying Gondolina as soon as Mr. Nelson has located us all there. That way you have some more 'screen time' because I don't think Sauron is mentioned anymore until Númenor. And maybe you can 'switch sides' when you get there. That way you can flee Gondolina with the rest of the TLA and stay among us for the rest of the game and able to post more.
In other news I finally got around to colouring the last two TLA-character drawings from the Hobbit. (Will post them soon.) I was wondering, would any of those who joined us in the Sillymaril like a drawing of their TLA-character? No strings attached.
Katt_knome_hobbit

Good idea, thanks. I don't think I'll switch sides though, but I am NEVER on Mr. Nelson's side.
Bloody Morgoth liking Nelson better 'n' me.
Earniel
01-24-2005, 04:23 PM
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. If you don't want to switch sides, you might just decide to ask asylum in the TLA. ;)
In any case, do what you think best. :)

nnn=nnnnnn-===--nn-=n==nnn---n===n-----n===n-=n-====nnnnnn
your logic escapes my mental processes.

mooooooooooooooog
it is a moog day today

01-29-2005, 04:06 PM
OK, I don't want the thread to die, so I'm going to post. But I'd really like to see someone (anyone) who is in Gondolina at the moment to post, because Random Young Tuor/Miriam/Voronwe are about to arrive in Gondolina and I think you have some unfinished business of some sort.
Katt_knome_hobbit
01-29-2005, 05:20 PM
I might just take a little trip to Gondolina but Nelson put a tracking device on me and finds the bloody city so we can get on with it.
Tell me if I'm screwing anything up there first.
Count Comfect
01-29-2005, 05:32 PM
Well, Earniel and I have to get to the city first, otherwise I think you're all right. Earniel might correct me though ;)
Earniel
01-29-2005, 07:59 PM
Well, I was sort of planning/wondering on letting Mr. Nelson maybe locate the city before we reach it and let him decide to wait it out until the TLA are complete again. Being the insane criminal mastermind he is, he wouldn't want any of us to escape by not being there when he finally launches his attack on Gondolina. So Katt is free to go on a recon-mission if she pleases as far as I'm concerned.
You've found Voronwë, already, eh CC? So there is nothing else you have to do before getting to the city?
Arcala and I still have to run in with the annoying Fëanor sons and put Eöl on our trail. So I better get a move on, don't I? :o
[EDIT: And why were you thinking I would correct you? Am I taking too much control in this game?]
Count Comfect
01-30-2005, 03:14 AM
No, just because you have a better idea of what happens in the Sil, so I might have forgotten something, that's all :)
Yeah, I've found Voronwë already, so get a move on ! But I can always fluff with him discovering quite how weird these Ulmo-ambassadors are...
Where is Willow and her contingent?
Katt_knome_hobbit

That's it, the Sillymarilion is now so long that Microsoft Word cannot underline all the "spelling mistakes" such as names.
GO US!
I've only edited half of it anyway. buggrit
You know, I'm getting really pissed at Nelson. I need to seduce someone.
How bout Morgoth? Right before I stab him in his ****ing Maiar heart for being such a whore.
How bout Glorfindel? The last time I tried it turned out to be his evil twin brother Glordifel. Hee hee...
Earniel
01-30-2005, 06:21 PM
Seduce anyone you want but keep it PG 13. :p
But hands off of the Lord of Fountains or I'll have your hide for doormat.
Ye be warned.
Katt_knome_hobbit
02-01-2005, 08:09 PM
I had to look up "lord of the fountains". His name is Ecthelion? And he slays Gothmog?
bummer

Yes, Ecthelion, Lord of Fountains. Yes, slayer of Gothmog. And yes, off limits. :p
Count Comfect
02-02-2005, 10:15 AM
Y'alls can squabble allllllll you want. :p
Katt, could you kinda... move Maggie in the direction of posting again, if that's possible? Because I'd rather not arrive in Gondolina yet, but we could use someone posting in the thread (and I am not going to post FOR her)
Katt_knome_hobbit
02-02-2005, 05:51 PM
Heee heee.
I'll post for her. Stupid elves.....
