If we ever have to write an assignment about a movie ... I think I should take Moulin Rouge ... with my obsession

I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in words

Lady of Darkness
04-10-2004, 11:10 AM
I know..I probably could "dissect" Moulin Rouge now...try to figure out everything about it...I better get an A+++++ on it if I ever write a paper on it

i follow the dark
can't stand the light
when will i begin
to live again

one day i'll fly away
leave all this to yesterday
why live life from dream to dream
and dread the day
when dreaming ends

Thought I'd finally pop in here to say that Moulin Rouge is amazing. I love it, and yes I'm admitting that it nearly always makes me cry at the end.:o And I have both CD's of the soundtrack, which I also love.

Well that's my two cents I guess. I'll leave you two to go on with your two way convo.:p

Lalaith
04-11-2004, 07:33 AM
Hmm, I always thought that I would like to meet Spielberg the most, but now when I think of it ... maybe Baz would be a better choice. His movies are so extra-ordinary.

Wow, amazing, another fan.

Lady of Darkness
04-12-2004, 05:54 PM
ahhh I love the sound of the converted/fans
i'm so tired i think i'll go sleep...
my gift is my song
and this one's for you
and you can tell anybody
that this is your song
it may be quite simple but
now that it's done

LoD

Lalaith
04-13-2004, 04:16 AM
Hmmm, yah, think of all the work I can to when I'm in Vienna. So many people to convert. :D

Lady of Darkness

Lady of Darkness
04-14-2004, 03:53 PM
stick them up at gunpoint
violence is the answer
duh

LoD

Lalaith
04-15-2004, 07:37 AM

Lady of Darkness
04-15-2004, 01:49 PM

LoD

Lalaith
04-15-2004, 04:12 PM

Lady of Darkness
04-16-2004, 09:34 PM
don't ask me such outrageous questions, of course they will!

LoD

trapped in his dark, dark castle ....

Lady of Darkness
04-21-2004, 04:45 PM
aka the Gothic Tower.
how did they GET the Gothic Tower, anyway? what was it's purpose?

LoD

Lalaith
04-22-2004, 06:58 AM
how did they get it? what do you mean?

I don't know. Maybe it represents wealth to have a gothic tower.

Lady of Darkness
04-22-2004, 06:44 PM
like, how did they make it(in the movie sence, you know, if the Moulin Rouge actually had a Gothic Tower)
okay i'm talking pure fictional...not like the makers of the movie, but the actual people the movie is about...
i mean, why would a pleasure-house have a "gothic tower"? what would they use it for?
yea...is that clearer now?

LoD

Lalaith
04-23-2004, 11:06 AM
I don't think that the Gothic Tower really belonged to the Moulin Rouge. Probalby it was an independent building.

Lady of Darkness
04-23-2004, 11:47 AM
perhaps...but this is driving me crazy. maybe i should stop thinking about it....
LoD

Lalaith
04-24-2004, 11:38 AM
let's just agree that it was really independent from the Moulin Rouge ... maybe it didn't even exist in real life

Lady of Darkness
04-25-2004, 08:35 PM
yes let's...although i shall search google to find the truth...

LoD

Lalaith
04-26-2004, 01:34 PM
hmmm, maybe I should ask Jonathan, he's been in Paris before and he has a picture of him standing in front of the Moulin Rouge.

Lady of Darkness
04-26-2004, 08:22 PM
it doesn't exsist...I looked up pix last night.

LoD

Lalaith
04-27-2004, 12:40 PM

Lady of Darkness

I could always build it...

LoD

Lalaith
04-29-2004, 02:42 PM

Lady of Darkness
05-03-2004, 05:39 PM
and we're the sexiest people in the entire world and we don't need others to make us be satisfied.
I heart my Gothic Tower. although, I would choose Christians humble flat over the gothic tower...the gothic tower is depressing and cold. christians flat is lively and WARM
omg...I can't believe I wrote that...its so...sooo CLICHED! lol

Yes, I've been in Montmartre on three separate occasions and I can't remember any gothic tower at the Moulin Rouge whatsoever.

Lalaith
05-04-2004, 08:26 AM
Thanks for the information, Jonathan.

Well, well. We can still build a Gothic tower. I think the Moulin Rouge needs some restauration anyway.

Lady of Darkness
05-04-2004, 05:54 PM
yea it probably does...they made it different
the Moulin Rouge(actual building) site (http://www.moulinrouge.fr/home-flash-fr.html)

go there...you can see pix..

LoD

Lalaith
05-06-2004, 04:54 AM
OH, I love that site. I absolutely want to go there.

Lady of Darkness
05-06-2004, 04:09 PM
I KNOW!!!
Its sooo pretty..it actually shows you the Moulin Rouge, instead of like in the movie where it is always a blur
I think they did that on purpose to show that life was confusing there...

LoD

Lalaith
05-08-2004, 05:20 AM
hmm, where there any pictures on the page? didn't see any

Lady of Darkness

LoD

05-12-2004, 06:21 AM
hmmm, am I getting lessons in strange slang now? :D

Lady of Darkness
05-12-2004, 07:44 PM
of course...
now, the Moulin Rouge is shibby. shibby shibby SHIBBY. very Shibby indeed
in this case, Shibby means sexy. shibby can also mean awesome, cool, funny, etc. you can use Shibby in many different cases, such as
SHIBBY!- randomly screaming it out. don't think people will understand, which means that you'll get lots of wierd looks, which is entirely shibby(in this instance, it means awesome)
now that I have spammed, I hope that everyone understands that this was on purpose to prove the many different words that you can describe the Moulin Rouge. so I am soooooo not Spamming. so there :p

LoD

Lalaith
05-13-2004, 07:05 AM

Moulin Rouge will air on German TV on Pentecost. Hehe.

LoD

Lalaith
05-15-2004, 09:31 AM
listen, honey, I think we should concentrate more on the Fanclub thread because we might be called spammers if we keep up both ... what do you think?

Lady of Darkness
05-16-2004, 12:15 PM
agreed..
lets see...
do you think they filmed at the actual Moulin Rouge? or do you think they just built a set? I don't know if they could film at the Moulin Rouge because its a historical site and they'd have to do stuff to it. Also, its a running place, but I'm not exactly sure when it is in buisness....

LoD

Lalaith
05-16-2004, 01:51 PM
Hmm, I think it was a set. Because it would have been too difficult shooting in the acutal Moulin Rouge.
And I also thought that the set was in Oz.

Lady of Darkness
05-19-2004, 04:54 PM
Oz? where's Oz?

Now that you mention it I remember how they talked about the Elephant. That they had strings just that they didn't fall from the fragile elephant.

06-01-2004, 05:42 PM
how was it? just as good as you remembered?

LoD

Lalaith
06-02-2004, 12:06 PM
hehehe, definiteley ... just watched some scenes (Roxanne part, great) .... because I don't like to watch it in German

Lady of Darkness
06-02-2004, 04:17 PM
y not? because its not the original? or is it because the words don't match the lips?

LoD

Lalaith
06-03-2004, 06:37 AM
Because I don't like the translations most of the times.
I am also more keen to hear the voices of the actors and not of the dubbers. Bah.
And it's kind of unnatural when they talk German and start to sing in English.

Hanza
06-03-2004, 09:54 AM
lo i bet may have to switch mine into germana nd see if i can understand much. altho i know most of it off by heart neway so it wud be more remembering then reading german. i have my german reading and writing GCSE next week!!!

I think Spanish would be fun.

But I doubt that the American DVD has another language on it. Or am I wrong?

Hanza
06-04-2004, 06:46 AM
not sure is there a difference between the english and american versions? il check later perhaps see if u can watch mine in diff languages. toodles :p

Lady of Darkness
06-05-2004, 08:08 PM
I have no idea..but I kinda doubt it...I think it depends on the type of movie, like if it's british or american...

LoD

Lalaith
06-07-2004, 05:06 PM
Would make no sense to have a dubbed version on a english-speaking movie dvd.

Lady of Darkness
06-08-2004, 06:21 PM
you never know...in the US there are over 10000 different languages spoken...

LoD

Lalaith
06-09-2004, 04:42 AM
Oh well. That's true.
But you schould feel lucky that you can see most of the movies in the original version.

Hanza
06-09-2004, 01:33 PM
true ive only seen one film in a diff language.a random frech film with english subtitles. i got bored so i left half way thru tho lol. too used to all my films being original i guess.

Lady of Darkness
06-10-2004, 03:48 PM
i guess I should feel lucky. just never thought of it before...hmmm...
I like european movies tho...lol..everything else seems to be too "hollywood"ized. I hate that
LoD

Lalaith
06-11-2004, 02:43 PM
yup! I hate the typcial hollywood end, bah .... Moulin Rouge is soooo different

Lady of Darkness
06-11-2004, 04:38 PM
thats cuz Moulin Rouge is sexy..lol

LoD

Lalaith
06-13-2004, 06:33 AM
it's different because the good girl dies in the end

Lady of Darkness
06-13-2004, 11:57 AM
*tear* and the bad guy lives.... and its depressingly happy. or is it happily depressing? hmmm.....

LoD

Lalaith
06-13-2004, 02:32 PM
well, at least not a stupid hollywood "and they lived happily ever after" end

Lady of Darkness
06-14-2004, 06:34 PM
yea...which kinda does suck, but hey, it gives it flavor..

LoD

Lalaith
06-15-2004, 01:19 PM
Hmm, it is interesting. You know from the start that Satine is going to die, but it is sill sooooo d... sad.

Lady of Darkness
06-15-2004, 05:58 PM
yea...but you know, you have a tendency to forget that fact in all the yummy flavor of zee movie

LoD

Hanza
06-16-2004, 02:28 PM
yeh you do its so zazzy and exciting you forget shes actuaolly going to die in the end.

Lady of Darkness

LoD

Lalaith

Hanza
06-19-2004, 03:07 PM
it does sound like hes laughing dont it!! he need to get a better onscreen cry lol

Lady of Darkness
06-20-2004, 05:20 PM
he's kinda gasping and doing the short breathes that happens when you're laughing..lol

LoD

Lalaith
06-23-2004, 01:30 PM
But I've heard people crying often enough to say that there are people who sound like laughing when crying.

Lady of Darkness
06-24-2004, 08:36 AM
yea...I do that sometimes too...I had to do a double take when I first saw it....lol

LoD

Lalaith
06-25-2004, 01:04 PM
But Satine's crying looks really real.

Lady of Darkness

yeah, I should also watch it again, but, ack, lack of time

No, haven't seen that movie, what is it all about?

Lady of Darkness
06-27-2004, 05:45 PM
its about a high powered woman (nicole Kidman) who gets fired from her job and her husband moves their family to the town of Stepford. there she becomes friends with another woman (Bette Midler) and a gay man (don't remember his name) and all three of them try to figure why all the women are unnaturally perfect before they too get turned into "perfect people".
It's REALLY funny...I love it..
