Lara brushed her black hair from her face irritably. Would her horse go any faster? She sighed and gave her horse, Sarn, another jab in the ribs with her heel gently. Her horse replied with a snort and managed to get into a canter along the long dusty road, littered with rocks. It had been four days since she had passed the great ancient watchtower at Weathertop and she had just exited Midgewater, for which she was very thankful was over. In the distance she could see the dark roofs of Bree looming before the horizon. The golden air of late afternoon was lurid with hints of the coming night. She would arrive by evening.

She reached the gates by the estimated time, her mind heavy with the duty set before her. She arrived at a quaint little inn in the middle of the town, called the Prancing Pony. She immediately went to the stables, and dismounted, giving Sarn to the stable boy, then went inside. The air of the inn was smoky with the scent of many pipes, and the atmosphere of the room was warm and homey. She walked up to the man that seemed like the innkeeper. His bright green eyes were smiling along with his mouth. Obviously he was not one to take advantage of someone, he looked too stupid for that.

"Yes? Can I help you?" He asked with a cheerful voice.

Lara smiled back at him, "Yes, I seek lodgings for the evening. And I was wondering if you had some food around here, for I am very hungry from riding."

"Oh yes lass, you are a lass, I suspect, for the way you dress caught me off guard when I saw you enter the inn."

Lara grinned back good-naturedly. She was used to such comments as these, for she dressed as a man would in a white shirt, green tunic, and brown trousers, with a blue cloak draped across her shoulders gracefully. Only her long black hair and feminine features gave away her true gender, "Yes, you suspected right, now where might I find a room?"

The innkeeper smiled, "Follow me," He said leading her up some stairs.

He showed her to a room, told her that if she needed anything all she needed to do was go down stairs and call for it at the front counter.

After the innkeeper had left, Lara went right to a small desk in the corner and from a concealed pocket in her coat, drew a scroll from it and spread it across the top. Tracing her finger down the letters she found that she only had one week in Bree to accomplish her mission. One of every race, her commander had said, to witness the retaking of Moria.

OOC: Sorry if it sucks, well here goes...

He was in his room thinking when he heard the sound of hooves coming nearer to the inn. As he sat in his chair with his feet resting on the desk he used his fingers to slightly push back the curtains. He stared and saw a figure riding down the path towards the inn, from the darkness of the evening he was not able to clearly make out the figure.

He moved his hand away as the curtains fell and closed leaving a small gap where a stream of the moon’s light shone through and fell on his sword that was resting on the desk. He moved his feet off the desk and as he placed them on the floor the wooden boards creaked. He stood up and picked his sword up as he carefully slid it onto his side. He had forgotten about the time while thinking about his travels and his home. His stomach grumbled and he stood there until it stopped after a few seconds. He went to the door and pulled it open as the loud clamor of people were heard below. He left the candle that lit the room and went downstairs to get his dinner.

As he made his way down he saw the innkeeper leading an attractive lady upstairs. He move aside to let them through. He thought a moment about the awkwardness of the lady’s clothes and ceased to think about it when again his stomach grumbled.

He walked up to the front counter and asked a worker to fix him supper as he walked over to a small table in the corner and seated himself. As he waited, he thought more. He had traveled awhile before he had made it here. He was still young and it was difficult for him to make it through but the experience has made his mind and body strengthen.

A hobbit finally brought him his supper and he stopped thinking as he slowly ate.

When he had finish, he took a last drink out of his mug as he placed it down and walked out to get a breath of fresh air and to see Flik. He walked over to the stables on the side of the inn. A hobbit was caring for the horses as he approached Flik and brushed his hand down the horse’s mane. There was a cool breeze this night and Dai's hair flew back and his cloak fluttered in the wind. After staying with Flik for awhile, he felt tired and after telling the hobbit to watch Flik, he retreated to his room. He walked over to the desk as his armor clanked; he placed his sword to rest on it again. He sat down in the chair, blew out the candle, and sat thinking about the lady he had seen arrive at the inn until he fell asleep. Fatigue had taken him and tommorow was going to be a new day.

Katirina stared up at the sign above the inn. Why had she come here? She had left the Shire before because of a strange feeling, but usually it led her to a river were some tree was being cut down or some animal needed rescuing. Katirina Rose Romere was not a normal hobbit. She had never really been at home in the Shire. Something drew her to water from wherever she was. She assumed she was a hobbit. She had wandered into the Shire one day and was found dipping her feet in the Brandywine. Everyone had been so nice to her. And yet, all of them knew that she didn't belong. She didn't age the normal way. After ten years, her hair had started to change color. But instead of gray, it was turning a golden red instead of her usual brown. She never knew what color her eyes were because everyone gave her a diffrent report. When she looked at her eyes all she could see was black. Because of her diffrences she spent most of her time away. But why here in Bree. There were men here. But she had to follow her spirits. They had always guided her well before. Katirina went in and decided not to get a room. She will sleep outside. She sat in a corner in the inn not deciding what to do yet. "I will get a sign" she decided. She watched as a soldier marched in. "Wait, what is wrong with that soldier?" she asked herself. Then she realized that the soldier was female. This struck her as odd and she decided to take a better look at everyone. There was at least one of every race and some of them had the same feeling of waiting in their soles. "We are all here for the same purpose" she realized and she was happy. Finally she was to go on a quest. Maybe he origions would finally be revealed.

A rider clothed in dark appeared at the inn, and he knew she was here. The rider had never been here before, but at once, he felt as if he knew this place better than everyone here. He shrugged the feeling off, and after brushing some hair out of his eyes, went inside.

As he went in, he saw her. She was sitting at a table, with a good mug of ale, and she was drinking it slowly. He blended in with the darkness, and everyone who saw him tended to slink away from him, as he seemed to be a criminal. He asked for a pint of ale, and he drained it almost the second he received it, for he was very thirsty.

Lara saw him and she thought he looked very familiar, but she just couldn't put her finger on it. She saw him drain the ale, and she thought she caught a glimpse of his face. She thought, "Eventually he will have to take his hood off, right?" As she thought that, he took off his hood and he almost revealed to everyone he wasn't human. He had black hair, sea gray eyes, and he had an air about him that was noble, not like a dark person. He brushed his long hair back again as she looked at him, and he took notice of her. Lara just looked away, but she also noticed that he was coming toward her.

A dark haired stranger approached the inn. She had eyes as green as poison, and her skin was pale. She was dressed in all black, and she was horseless. She also kept a concealed dagger in her coat.

She opened the door. There, she saw the dark rider, who was approaching some other girl. She decided to intervene. She walked over.

"I arrest people like you...and get very good money for it too. So, you had better watch your back!" she hissed at him.

"I mean no harm to befall this place," he answered her. She simply scowled and turned to the counter.

"Water, please!" She asked. The person at the counter gave it to her. She sipped slowly, for she was very interested in how this dark rider and the girl were associated. They must be crimimals she thought, perhaps they are working for the enemy.

The stranger sat across from her. Lara looked up. Her assumption had been correct. He was not human. This puzzled her greatly. What would an elf be doing in Bree of all places? And why did he look so familiar?

"Good evening Friend," She said smiling at the elf, interest in the stranger's idenity eating away at her mind like a fever.

"Good evening," He answered.

"Will you not join me in a drink for it seems you have traveled far," Lara asked...

OOC:Later that evening.
The young hobbit stood on the edge of the Barrowdowns and smiled as he saw the lights on Bree hill twinkle invitingly as if to say"Come and abide for awhile weary travellar". And that was one thing Alaird was willing to do. He sighed and hoisting his pack higher onto his shoulders walked on. He was glad to have the Barrows behind him. He needn't have feared any danger from Wights. They had been destroyed years ago with the Evil that had sent them to haunt the old resting paces of ancient kings, but the tales that his Grandfathers told him of their one day imprisonment in a Barrow was enough to make him thankful he had left before night fall.
He had passed through the Old Forest, passed Old Man Willow and had made it safely to the House of Tom Bombadil where he was welcomed by the Master and His wife the fair Goldberry. His coming had not been a suprise to them as they knew about his coming and his desire to follow the road that his Grandfathers took to Gondor and Mordor. He had left that day and passed through the Barrows and was now ready to rest a day or so at the Inn and take up whoever "looked foul and seemed fair".
"One more step Alaird m'lad an' you'll be eatin' tarts cheese an' bread of the finest. Not to mention ale and a pipe into the bargain. Just one more step lad." He thought to himself as he fished an apple out of his pack and began chewing on it.
He walked up to the door and knocked. A fat hobbit answered the door " 'ello master 'ow may I 'elp you?" "Well you might let me in the door first. It's gettin' dark an' there'll be a storm soon so please let me in." Alaird smiled a brilliant smile at the Hobbit"I suppose you're Nob?" he asked as he stepped over the threshold and removed his cloak. "Nay master. I'm 'is son, Rob. I work 'ere." "As I can see well enough. Do you have rooms free. Seems the common room is awful full."
"Well alot of these people are just 'ere for a pint, a good argument an' a pipe in the bargain. But alot of outlandish folks 'ave come through 'ere too. A Young man came through 'ere day afore yesterday. Says 'is name's Dai but you cant trust folk like him. Then there's a lovely young lady who cam 'ere yesterday aside a young hobbit lass form the Shire. A dark rider 'oo seems to know the young lady and a shirrif 'oo threatens to aresst the dark rider. SHE came in yesterday. Beware of 'er she 'as eyes bright as a snakes and twice as green as a cats. Watch out for 'er." The hobbit finished and opened a door to a nice parlour.
A large fireplace and a nice hobbit sized table with a few chairs. He picked up the bell on the table and rung it. Rob came up huffing and puffing"Yes master." "Rob I'll just move meself to the common room if it isn't to much of a bother for you. Les of a trek an' all." He winked and smiled as he passed through the door and went to the Common Room. There in the corner was a young woman with black hair and a man in a dark cloak who was talking lowly and earnestly with her.
Then in a corner table there was a pale girl dressed in black and with eyes that spewed venom towards the man and woman in the corner opposite. Then in a table in the light of the fire there was a hobbit girl who was staring out the window to the dark night. "If I'm to sit with anyone it'll be her as she's a hobbit an' all" he thought. Then there was a boy of what Alaird thought to be twelve or so near the fire.

In the shadows at the back boothes of the common room Maew watched the strangers arrive. Since the Greenway had been opened again with the return of the King, the Pony had seen much more business. It had also seen refugees of the dark northern wastes hastening to refuge in the cruel lands to the south and east of Gondor; there was work for the Rangers, by all acounts. Now the black-cloaked elf was speaking with the soldier. An interesting company. he thought. Neither of them felt evil, though the elf certainly looked it. I wonder why he would seek to give that impression? Maew signalled to the innkeeper with his tankard, and as the man served him he inquired about the outlanders.

'Oh, them? Well, lesse, the young lady arrived abo' evnin' hour yesterday, and the gentelman there just now got in, as you probably saw. I reckon they know'd eachother before they came here, 'cause he went right over there ta' talk to her soon as he got here. Other than that I don't rightly know.'

'What about those two?' Maew indicated two hobbits sitting at a table by one of the circular ground floor windows.

It took a minute for the near-sighted innman to focus on the pair in question, but squinting he answered quick enough. 'Eh? Well the lad is out 'o the Shire, lass too by her talk, though this is the firs' time I recall seein' her abo' Bree, but anyway, the lad comes by here every now an' agin, Tookish blood in him, y'know.' He waited, Maew gave no sign, he was gazing intently at the young hobbit. ' Y'know that lad's grandpa on his father's side was none other than Master Peregrin Took himself, that my own father once served with ale in this very room? An' on his mother's side he is direc'ly decended from Samwise Gardener, Mayor of Hobbiton?' When Maew remained silent, he appended, 'Well I 'spec you do, you being a ranger an' all-' But now Maew stirred, the present innkeep, like his forebearer, seemed capable of an endless stream of talk if duely encouraged, 'No, no indeed, you have been very helpful, my friend. I wonder if you could spare me a room for tonight?' 'Why, surely sir, you know the rangers are alwa's welcome here, I'll get Rob to round up a room for ye.'

The other woman who had entered had now captured his attention, she was known to him, though he had never met her personally. She had taken as her duty to rid the North of all remaining evil, but she had a reputation of somewhat callous overzealousness.

'This bears watching,' he breathed into his ale, stretched his legs out beneath his table, and prepared to witness whatever was about to happen.

He sat gazing into the crackling fire when a knock came on the door. The innkeeper answered it and a young hobbit was at the door and the two started talking but Dai couldn’t hear a word so he lost his interest in them and went back to thinking. What could that lady be here for? He thought as he stared in the fire. And who is that man that seems to know her and why do they seem as if they know one secret?

He reached to his drink and emptied it. The innkeeper threw a log into the fire sending up embers and a blaze of fire as the fire then settled down again and the ashes floated and fell on the floor. Dai stood up and grabbed his mug as he walked over to the counter and asked for more. He received his mug back filled to the brim, he turned and leaned on the counter taking a sip as he watched the new arrival study each person staying at the inn. He turned back around to place his drink on the counter and caught a glance of the lady that had arrived earlier at a table. He had almost forgotten her. She was queer. He thought as he looked at from the corner of his eye. Why was she so concerned about the dark man? Do the three have something to do with one another?

He began to become bored, it was his personality, Dai looked out the window and saw it was dark. He had stayed at the inn for awhile, he should leave soon, unless some business came up. He walked outside to see Flik for he thought he would be leaving Bree soon and he needed to ready his steed.

The elf was talking to Lara now, and they were in hushed conversation.

"So, what is your name?" the elf asked. Lara was stunned. Her name? She replied, "My name is Lara. What's yours?" The elf looked at her, those sea gray eyes gazing into hers, and he said, "My name is not known to you, or to anyone here, although you have seen me before. I shall not speak aloud my name here, for there are those who would want us destroyed. If we were to go to your room, I might reveal myself there."

Lara thought this over in her mind. Why does he want to talk to me in my room? It's crazy for him to think that he would talk to me in there. Then again, she didn't have any choice. She wouldn't know his name unless the requirements were met. "Oh all right, we'll go to my room." The two left the table and went upstairs to her room. Then finally the elf said what she wanted to hear.

"My name is Eäráng Anondir, although you will not know me by that name. You will instead know me by my other name, which is Falinaur. We fought together at the final battle, the battle which overthrew the dark land of Mordor. I am an elf of Valinor, and I know of your quest to Moria. I would be honored to join you on your quest." Lara was astonished. She had fought with Falinaur, and she knew he was very valiant. But how he hid the fact that he was an elf she was more astonished.

The human woman, Lara, was that her name?, and the elven man were getting up. Through the hum of conversations and clinking glasses, the ranger's sharp ears had picked up somewhat of their talk, something had been said about going to her room. What could be so secret that he couldn't whisper it here? A flood of new questions rushed through his mind. So they didn't know eachother beforehand, but then why did he go straight to her? Or is he merely unsure of her identity? What is his name? He rose and paid his night's tab, making a pretense of going to his room. He followed them out the door.

When Maew got to the base of the stairs he could just hear their footsteps on the floor above. He acended with all the skill of a trained hunter, not one stair creaking under his foot, and was just in time to hear the lock click in a door down the hall.

He pressed his ear to the door. Falinaur... Falinaur... the name rang faintly out of memory, a good fighter, but and elf come over the sea from Tol Eressea to the aid of Middle-Earth? Why? And why in such guise as a human?[/i] He wondered if he should doubt the story, and if this black-clad traveller might be a trap sent to some evil purpose from the last vestiges of the Darkness. Many years of toil and fighting had made him sceptical and slow to put his faith in chance meeting on the road. Yet the stranger was an elf, he smelled of elvish things, and an elf would have little reason to tell such a lie. Still, history reminded him, orcs were twisted out of elves imprisoned by Morgoth, could it be possible that somewhere this evil process had been disrupted, resulting in and evil being with still a fair contanence? That would be a black evil! Or even yet, Sauron had taken fair form and so disposed Numenor. Nonsense, nonsense. he chided himself, these are follies born from years of peace and an idle mind; when there are no enemies to fight, we create them out of nothing. But still, doubt grew in the back of his mind. Why at least can not he openly speak his name? that bodes ill for some misdoing on his part.

Which such thoughts to plague his dreams, Maew left the door to find Rob, who could lead him to his own room for a night of uneasy sleep.

After Lara recovered from the shock of seeing Falinaur again, she smiled.

"Dear friend," She answered, "I would be more than happy to have you accompany me. But pray, how did you know my purpose for being here?"

"That, my dear Lara, shall be revealed in good time, but for now I believe that we should be looking for more companions upon this quest. I suppose you noticed that dark looking cloaked figure in the cornor upon my entering," The elf said walking over to the fireplace and throwing another log upon the flames. The tounges of fire spat at him in protest.

Lara sat silent for a moment, she had to admit she had not noticed the figure, "No," She answered, "No, I fear I did not."

"That was Maew, a ranger of sorts. Very silent and serious sort of mortal," Now it seemed that the elf was talking to himself more than to her, "He might do," the elf turned to Lara for her opinion on the matter.

The dark stranger's name did sound fimiliar to Lara, from the dark war. But before she could answer his question about the ranger coming along, she would have to know more of this Maew, "I remember the man vaugely," She replied, "But I'll need to know more about him,"

Eäráng said, "You may be able to get to know one another very shortly, for, if I know him, he will be outside the door listening in on our very conversation right now."

Maew heard this and he decided the best course of action would be to get out of the area fast, but he heard the door open and Eäráng grabbed his cloak and pulled him in. "It's not nice to be listening in on another's conversation, you know. Well, Lara, meet Maew, Maew, meet Lara." The two shook hands and sat down.

Maew said, "Well, Falinaur, we meet again. Begging your pardon, but why would an elf of Valinor be here helping Middle-earth? The Valar would not meddle in the affairs of mortals." But Eäráng just laughed. "Why, poor Maew, you are quite mistaken. Even though you do not live in Valinor, you are still the Children of Iluvatar. The Valar watch you even now, and they have sent me to help Lara," he acknowledged her, "with her quest, which I have taken to be mine own."

Lara finally stood up and said, "Okay, hold on! How did they know of my quest?" Eäráng replied, "The Lord of the Waters still roams the seas, and he has traveled up the Anduin and has heard of your quest. That is how the mighty Valar know of it."

The dark-haired woman at the counter stared at the small party of Falinaur, Lara, and Maew. Now that she was hearing names, things were falling into place. However, she had to be sure. She stood up and crossed over to where they were.

"Tell me, Falinaur, why you are here," she told him. He frowned.

"I'm here to help Lara...didn't you hear?" He asked.

"Oh, I heard. Now, what are you to be helping her with?" she asked.

"Who are you?" Falinaur asked.

"Wise of you to ask," she started, "I'm Laredith, and I work for the king of Gondor to seek out the remaining evil." The elf simply snickered.

"Ah, yes! I've heard of you! The king is thinking of not letting you help anymore, with all of your faliures!" Falinaur laughed. Laredith frowned.

"I'm going to succeed whether or not the king wants me!" Laredith exclaimed.

They had returned to the common room under Earang's insistance, for a reason as yet left unspecified. While Falinaur Earang and the woman, Laredith, were exchanging words, Maew took the opportunity to rearrage his thoughts. He still did not trust Falinaur, he had not known him during the war, another face, another name; there had been reknown, yes, but there had been much of that to go around. He had not been as important as pride would make.

He broke up the arguement that was fast approaching with Laredith, saying quitely, 'I will go with you.' He was addressing himself to Lara, but it caught Earang's attention just the same. Maew's eyes flickered dangerously up to Earang's and held them for a long moment, searchingly. Earang maintained the gaze, seemingly allowing Maew to read what was behind them, daring him. What Maew saw, did not quiet his suspicions, there were many closed doors within his mind, not all of them of a wholesome feeling. 'But how am I to know you speak truth about your purpose?'

Earang was about to reply when Laredith, assertive after being ignored, addressed herself once again to him. Her voice was calmer now, a shrewd look in her venimous eyes. 'Yes, if half I've heard of you is true, your wanderings in these parts would seem... suspicious, would they not?' Her voice grew deadly serious, and her eyes narrowed to slits, 'There are some as would be very interested to find you leading a ranger and a soldier through the wilderness to some unknown end.'

But Eäráng just looked up at Laredith and laughed. "Did you really think that I would lead these poor folk," Maew and Lara looked dejectedly at him, "to their deaths? I am quite true to my word, and that no harm shall befall this place or these people. You can count on that."

Maew looked at him, and Eäráng now turned his attention to him. "I am not as dark as I seem. I have been in the place we are going to now, and that is why you see me like this right now."

He sat at the counter and he had seen the lady approach the others. Laredith was what the others seem to call her. Dai was growing interested in there conversation, but he kept a distance and listened quietly. Where could they be going? And why is this elf leading these folk when they seem suspicious of him?

He stood up and walked over to a table near to the others to be able to hear their conversation more clearly. From eavesdropping he could now tell that the suspiciously looking elf was named Eäráng or Falinaur and that he was to lead the company somewhere dangerous and maybe to their deaths.

He was to leave the Prancing Pony himself soon, but the company seemed queer and the evil in Eäráng caused him to become interested in what their quest was and where it was going to lead them.

He was only sixteen but looked years younger and was treated as a child by others who did not know him. His parents had died and his adoptive grandfather had died years before also. He had journeyed through the lands of Middle-earth and fought against evil himself. He too had been at the final battle that overthrew the dark land of Mordor but he had kept to himself and few knew of him and when he told others of when he was at the final battle, all laughed at him and thought he was too young. He had heard the names Lara and Eäráng before but did not know much about them. The ranger and the dark haired lady was more mysterious to him, he had never heard of the dark haired lady and he couldn’t recognize the ranger by face. He inched his chair closer to listen.
I have to get closer! He thought as he kept nearing the others.

change his age..the ruling king in Gondor is currently Eldarion, son of Aragorn..which means if you fought at the battle on the morannon you would have to be over 122 years old.
battle on the morannon occured 1419-shire reckoning.
aragorn died 1541-shire reckoning.
eldarion took the throne after the death of aragorn.

Maew gazed pensively at the black-clad elven man across the table. 'It is not your appearance I fear. It was once said in this place that the creatures of the enemy would "look fair and feel foul"' at this, a hobbit, the one that Maew had watched enter, pricked up his ears, and turned to half watch them, but Maew gave no sign he noticed, 'yet you are neither and both. If you would ask me, you look fair under a foul mask, which backs your story well enough, your feeling though, is confused. Not evil, no, but whatever secret purpose you are hiding will have some bitter sting in it's tail at the very least. If you wish to gain my trust, you must give me some sign other than your word of the good purpose behind this fortuitous trip to Middle Earth.'

"Then will this suffice for you?" Eäráng held out his hand, and in it he held the Ring of Fire, Narya. Maew and Lara looked upon the ruby set in it, and they were filled with wonder at its beauty. Maew asked, "How did you come upon this Ring?" Eäráng answered him, saying, "I received this Ring from Mithrandir, for it was kept with him, and he gave it to me, for he said it would do me good."

Maew nodded slowly, 'I will go with you.' and he sat in silent thought for a long while. Each of the three sat with their own thoughts, Maew saw that no one else in the common room had noticed the particular goings on at their table, it lent some credence to the ring and to Earang. Narya, it is, truely, that I can feel, but it's power fluctuates; the power of it of old was to lend the bearer persuasion and inspiration in others, which it has not aided much with for Earang! Who can tell what has happened to it since the distruction of the One? But clearly it retains some usefulness, it can cloak itself from unwanted eyes. If Gandalf it was that gave it to him, then it's presence is simply symbolic, given for this very purpose, without any real power yet remaining. But if it's powers still run true, then the indiscrepancies in it's potence must fall back on the bearer. Ah, but this is circular thinking, I shall not know more of this unless I go, and clearly something of importance is afoot, likely for good, but I can foresee great evil happening as a cause. None the less, I shall go, it is my only option now. He spoke to Earang, 'I will go with you, but you forget, Lara has not accepted you for a travelling companion yet, it is her mission after all.'

Kalnarnen Entered the tavern, her thick red hair dripping with rain. It had only begun to pour as she had rode up, but now she was drenched. A good pint of mead should calm her stomach. She glanced over at the group talking quietly in a corner. Moving a bit closer, she overheard their conversation. Elves, Dwarves... This seemed right up her alley.
"Pardon me," she said. "But I believe in your quest my services will be of use to you." They all gazed at her. She was tall and graceful looking, but was built strongly and had not elvish hair, but thick red curly locks. She carried an interesting weapon somewhat resembling a bo, but had miniature axes in her quiver. They all stared at her, never having seen such a creature before. All except one...

(P.S> Whoever wants to be the one can, probably one of the rangers who has hung out at this tavern and seen Kal before)

OOC-I never said that this was during the reign of King Eldarion and how can I be 112 if i'm mortal. This is supposed to be just about four years after the war not a hundred. So I would have been fifteen during the war of the ring. Also, instead of breaking the flow of the story if you have a comment or question you can post it at the disscussion area because it sort of screws up the story.

'Kal!' laughed Maew, greatful for a break from his dark speculations, 'You don't know who you've just fallen in with! Yes, I expect this will be just your sort of thing.' He courtiously pulled out a chair for her at the crowded table. He did not know her particularly well, but had once travelled with her for a time in the south, and was glad at the sight of a friendly face. Turning to Lara he said, 'I don't know what skills you are looking for on your quest, but wether in fighting or hunting, Kal won't let you down.'

Lara looked at the faces about her with a grave expression. Did they have any inkling of what lay in front of them? She had come from the land of Rohan and had passed over the misty mountains to get to Bree and that was hard enough in itself, but to travel to Moria. To the once dwelling place of the dreaded Balrog, Durin's Bane, that was so infested with orcs that the walls of the deep dwarf made cave, seemed crawled with their dark hides. Did they know what they were getting into? She herself had no clue but she had been anxious about it.

She shook herself from her thoughts and smiled, trying to look like a leader, though she did not feel like one. The companions were quiet now, waiting for her reply to their requests to go upon the journey, "Since all of you seem trustworthy from another's words or of my own knowing of you, I need you all and you all shall be needed," She paused for a moment, "Though we lack one part of our fellowship, we lack one of small stature, we lack a dwarf or hobbit, which ever it may be, but we need in the least one before we start,"

Katirina had been watching everyone gather at the table. Since the newest person was welcomed gratefully, she thought if she was going on this quest now was the time to introduce herself.
"Hello," she said. "My name is Katirina Rose Romere, a hobbit. I-" she paused to find the right words. "I see this is a gathering of great warriors. Am I correct in assuming that this party is to go on a quest?"
The party was a little surprized at the forwardness of this hobbit.
"Yes, we are to go on a quest," said Lara. "Sit and hear of us."
Katirina, smiling, pulled up a chair.

OOC: I edited my last post to what it was before.

Why are they collecting all these people to join in? Why do they put their trust in this elf that has turned dark?? He thought as he listened on and a hobbit pulled a chair up and joined the company. If I want to find out, I'll have to go with them. Being lead by the elf may be a risk but it is one I'm willing to take. He told himself as he stood up and walked over. He did not know where they were to journey to, or what evil they were to go against, but he had travelled the land long enough and had kept to himself for awhile and he needed for people to respect him for what he had done. He had only been twelve at the final battle, and after a few years of journeying alone he needed a greater quest, and for the sudden collection of many in this very inn and to have him overhear their conversation was a big coincedence. It was my fate. He thought. I have to journey with them. This is my quest too. This is my destiny.

"I am Dai, from Numenor." his eyes scanned the company as he introduced himself. "I have been listening to your conversation and I know that you are on a quest. I do not know where or to what dangers we will go to, but I will lend my hand against the evil you speak of."

The others looked at him. A child. They thought. How would such a young boy help? He is only ten or twelve. A boy that is a race of man that is young as he will bring nothing but something to watch over.

This is my destiny. He thought as he looked at the group and studied each person. We all have one. And all of us here may have the same one. We could be killed or live through this journey, but that is our destiny, that is our fate. But is fate unchangeable?

I need to get my bearings hold on:

Lara played by Handmaiden~Human, in charge of this thingymabob
Dai played by Az~Human, looks like a kid.
Katirina played by Katt~Hobbit lass.
Maew Play by Menel~Ranger.
Falinaur played by Earang~An Elf who faught with Lara in the last battle.
Laredith played by Laredith~An elf in the service of the King.
Alaird~Hobbit Lad from Tookland who decides to move his rump now.
Kalnarnan played by Nariel~Ummmm dunno.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alaird stared at the group now gathered round the table. He had listened intently to the conversation ever since the one called Meaw had said something aobut Fairness and foulness. He stared without realizing until Rob came up behind him with some more ale" 'ere Ye go master." Alaird nodded his thanks and gazed up over his tankard to the group. "Come on Al you sluggard. You wanted to take up with someone now DO IT. What should I do? I could try the song..." suddenly a voice from the other table picked up voice...
Laredith was becoming more and more agitated at being left out of the conversation. She was finally beginning to see things the way the others were (ie, that Falinaur was not an evil elf). She had waited long enough to speak. Finally, she couldn't contain it anymore.
"Alright. If you have any need of my services, I would gladly give them," Laredith told them. The others thought long and hard about it. After all, Laredith did have a reputation for her "faliure streak".
Lara smiled at the hobbit, "All will be revealed in good time,"
She than turned her gaze to the young man who had approached the table, Dai was his name. He looked no more than fourteen or so, but there was a gleam in his eye that made him seem beyond his years if you looked into them. He looked strong, but she sensed a deep seriousness in him. He did not look the type to smile often.
Lara gave the boy an understanding shrug, remembering what it was to be young and underestimated, "Dai, you have what seems a bravery not found often in those of your age. If you are ready to travel to the farthest reachs of who knows where and meet who knows what without turning tail and running, but still have just fear in your heart, you may come, for being brave is not the absence of fear, but of selfishness. That goes for all who dare upon this road,"
I've been watchin you all for a bit an' an' well I've been lookin' for an adventure...an well..." Here the young Took took a breath "My grandfather was Peregrin Took of Gondor. I was lookin' for someone who felt foul I mean LOOKED foul an' felt fair. An' I umm noticed you all looked ummmm...umm..umm"
"The young hobbit" smiled the elf "is exactly what you need." The company gaped at him.
"I am Fimbren and I have been told that you need companions. I feel that I can help. You see I was born in Valinor to a Noldorin father and half Telerin, half Vanyan mother. Eäráng introduced everyone to Fimbren. "This is Maew, a Ranger of these parts. This is Lara, a soldier of Gondor. This is Laredith," with this Laredith looked shocked, "a mesenger of the King. "Yes Maew, we are in great haste. I fear my battlion is very near the mines from Rohan and I had promised to be there when they arrived. My commander is well, very strict with such orders. We go by horse, or pony if you prefer," She said indicating to the hobbits, "Now I suggest we all get a good night's rest for I shall be up before dawn banging upon doors to awaken you all."
A knock came to his door. He awoke on his desk, falling asleep while thinking during the night. He got up and picked up his sword. He walked over to the door with his boots stomping on the loud wooden boards. He stopped at the door and yawned as he stretched his arms out. He could hear footsteps moving in other rooms and knew that it was time. The quest had begun, his fate was being decided.
He opened the door to see Lara. “We leave soon, get ready and I will call the others.,” explained Lara as she walked away down the hall to the others rooms.
He looked back into the room, then down at his sword hanging from his waist. I’m ready. He thought. But where are we going? I have not heard of where we were to journey to yet. Lara is in a hurry, there is a battle that will commence. Why will we be needed if they have gathered a battalion? And where and why have they gathered the battalion? And the others that have joined, the elf seems to know the dark one well. Could they be bringing us to our deaths? Or will they be on our side. No matter what, the others that have joined the company will fight them back. And I will not let my fear take over myself. I will die for the cause if we are to fight against evil. Fear is a stupid emotion. He walked outside and saw Flik, a couple of hobbits were readying the horses as the company was to leave soon. He walked over to Flik and stroke his mane.
I do not think Lara is to lead us into danger, but with you and Earang now together. Why? What do you plan to do? Trap us? Or be on our side? And where are we going? Kal had said little during the meeting. When she followed them out of the tavern, she immediately knew where they were going. Groaning, she kept walking. This was one area where her Elf and Dwarf blood fought. While she was a superb rider, she hated horses. However, she knew that on horseback was the only quick was to get to Moria.
She had grimly smiled when Fimbren had recognized her. immediately she recognized the false friendliness in his voice. Indeed it had been long since they had seen each other. And rightly so , she thought. I've been avoiding him for seven years after what he pulled on me. But now the others didn't seem to trust her much either. As she mounted her horse, whom she had named Linsul, she thought to herself that she must prove her loyalty to this group.
She leaned over and offered Maew an arm. He leapt behind her onto Linsul and they followed the rest of the group at a slow trot.
"So, Maew," She said. "WHy has it been so long since I've seen you?"
She gave Fim a sweet smile. "As if you didn't know. After what you did? I would never have come back here if I had known you would be here."
FIm looked comfused. "What is it I have done?"
"As if you didn't remember. You turned me in! YOu betrayed your own kind! And I thought I could trust you."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that we were hiding in the woods to avoid the Riders of Rohan after we had accidentally killed one in self defense. You jumped right out from behind those trees and started talking to them as if they were your best friends. You told them that I killed Garinald. Only because of my elvish blood was I able to outrun those horses. ANd you. I couldn't tell you how much I hated you after that."
They heard a loud snore and both realized that Maew had fallen asleep on the horse. They both knew Maew rarely slept. Apparently they must have bored him a great deal.
Maew woke to the pounding hooves that had ghosted through his dreams. By the sun he had slept about four hours, he groaned. He rarely felt the need for sleep, four or five hours was suficient for him in most cercumstances, more than that left him feeling oddly sick. Last night he had sat long in the darkness, watching the waxing of the moon; he was no longer plagued by doubt of Falinaur's intentions, or the intention of their quest, but something still held him back. A whisp of a thought floated in the back of his mind, warning him not to trust yet. Something was not quite right.
And I remember it like it was yesterday. 'My friend Fengil,' you said. 'I believe I have found what you were looking for. There is a Perenaug hiding in the trees and just a few hours ago I witnessed her kill one of your comrades. If you are quiet you may be able to ambush her.' You call that explaining?"
Fimbren's temper was returning. "I said no such thing. Perhaps you have the ears of a dwarf after all." he muttered under his breath.
Kal laughed, 'A ranger to the end.' Maew matched her smile, 'indeed, but I plan on making a trip to Erebor after this little escapade. I'm looking forward to a change of scenery. Now what of you, friend? Do I not guess rightly that you have had many adventures on your ride north?'
The company rode off to Moria as they cried in unison. Dai had not cried the phrase as they rode off. Instead, he wondered and thought. Moria...so...our quest leads us to Moria. But for what? Why? Why does the quest need all of our help? An army ready to attack, the need of help from others, a quest to Moria. Is there an attack planned? But on what? This was carefully planned, its an offensive, we're going to fight evil. But what evil? Could any be spies? Earang...Fimbren...they strike me as the most mysterious. I'll have to keep my guard. "Yes, many." said Kal. "However, danger, I have found, is overrated. It is simply a game played by enemies to induce fear. For the past few years I have lived in Bree and kept quiet. So you head to Erebor. Perhaps, if Chance allows it, I may accompany you."
Just then she heard the mention of Moria. She had been there a few years before. It was nothing too surprising. Dark, dreary, filled with orcs. The tricky part was getting past the Watcher and into the caves. There , she thought. That's my dwarvish side talking. Her Elvish half dreaded the thought of the caves.
Laredith came up alongside him and sneered, saying, "Why did Lara decide to take you along, huh? You servant of the Dark Lord! You'll be the death of us all!" Laredith rode out in front of him. What is her problem? She hates me, sure, but why does she say it aloud? Eäráng thought. It was going to be a long journey.
"LAREDITH!!!!! "
A voice roared behind her.
She tensed at the sound and thinking it was Falinaur turned angrily.
To her suprise Fimbren was riding up behing her, obviously very angry.
He was a great elf lord and very frightening when angry, Laredith shrunk back.
"Listen to me!" he shouted. "Nearly no elf, and certainly no elf of Valinor has ever served the dark Lord willingly! Is my word not enough for you to trust Earang?!?!?! He is far older than you can imagine as am I!!! Beware your cocky tongue youngster, It will get you in trouble!!!!!"
Earang came up and put his hand on Fimbren's arm. "Calm down" he said and Fimbren's body relaxed and his face calmed. Yes you're right. He turned to apologize to Laredith but she had already ridden to the front of the group. Fimbren almost pursued but decided to stay back. Instead he went to find Lara and ask what exactly they were doing.
OOC: Is Earang/Falinaur a Teleri or Noldo, perhaps half and half. I suggest not making him a Vanya.
Laredith sighed. Perhaps he was right. Actually, he probably was right. Oh well, apparently name calling wasn't allowed. Suddenly, Laredith heard some kind of...noise. The clopping of the horse's hoofs made it impossible to hear. "Quiet!" Laredith hissed. They all stopped. The noise sounded like it came from behind them. She turned around and saw black riders approaching them.
"Wait a minute! I thought the ringwraiths were destroyed!" Laredith thought aloud.
"They were. I don't think that's them. However, they look dangerous, so I think we had better make a break for it!" Fimbren exclaimed. They made the horses go faster...
The company rode faster. He whipped the side of Flik to quicken his pace. Dai looked back and saw the Black Riders. They were advancing more quickly then the company was able to flee. Dai glanced down at his side to his sword. He looked back again and the hobbits riding ponies were not quick as needed to be. He slowed his pace as the others rode past him. He neared the end of the group and he held onto the reigns. He took his hand and pulled out his sword. It gleamed from all the polishing that it had received when he had stayed at the end. It was sharp, sharp enough to cut through almost anything. The black riders were advancing. It is time to fight them, is this evil? Who are they? We have barely left Bree behind until these creatures showed up. We can't run, we're slower then they are, and our ponies and steeds will tire soon. If we can't defeat them, how do we expect to defeat the greater evil waiting for us in Moria? He thought as he rode on behind the company holding his sword ready in his hand.
Lara, with a very noble air, sounded the order to halt, then she turned around, Eäráng beside her. "Who are you, Black Riders?" Lara called out to them. They hissed at them, then drew their swords. Eäráng drew a bow and arrow and shot the lead Rider, and the other riders looked on with hate for the one who killed their leader. Eäráng made another shot before he had to draw his sword and kill another of their number before he was knocked unconcious by the business end of an Orc blade...
Noldo would make sense though because if a Teleri Fimbren would not know him so well and they wouldn't be so chummy (because of the kinslaying)
I also need to know, Earang didn't follow the revolt did he? He came to ME in the third age not too long before the War of the Ring correct?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Alaird had been riding his sturdy pony Perri in silence while the others rodes ahead and talked about Moria and the like. Suddenly Laredith called out to the company for silence. Alarid riegned in Perri and turned in his saddle. A black figure emerged from the trees followed by a few more. Alaird gasped in shock and terror but there was no time for aything else, talk or thought for from the front of the company a voice called out for them to flee. Alaird kicked Perri into a run as fast as the sturdy little beast could go, but it was no use. The longer legs of the horses left the two hobbits and their ponies lagging behind. Suddenly the one called Dai wheeled his horse round, drew his sword and rode back towards the hobbits. The rest of the company whirled thier horses round and they all drew their weapons. The black horsemen were drawing near but the hobbits were three paces away from the company.
Alaird and Katirina reached Dai and Earang first(the two men had drawn foward to the hobbits defence), turned their horses and Alaird drew his sword which was a normal steel color"It's supposed to be BLUE."Alaird puzzled. But he couldn't do more for the enemy was on them. Earang let an arrow fly where it found target in heart of the nearest rider. The latter tumbled from the saddle and the others hissed. Another arrow flew but then the riders were too close for archery.
Alaird aimed his sword at the front riders right kneecap. Alaird pulled his pony out of the way of the charging horse. As the rider passed he made a thrust and stabbed the riders thigh. The rider cried a terrible cry and turned on the hobbit. Suddenly it's head left it's shoulders due to a well aimed stroke from Earang. Alaird smiled but his relief was short lived.
A company of orcs had been sneaking up on the company form behind and ambushed the company. Alaird saw Earang fall to the sword hilt of an extremly ugly orc. The creature raised the blade for the kill but the sword never met it's target. A cry of "The SHIRRREEE" Ripped it's way out of the young hobbits throat as he flung himself at the brute. The sword met the orcs stomach and sunk to the hilt under the onslaught of the enraged hobbits thrust. Alaird wrenched his sword from the torso of the orc, he wiped it quickly on his breeches and stood above his companion's head. "COME AND TRY TO TAKE HIM!" he cried defiantly. He saw his other companions fighting the orcs and the remainder of the horsemen but his duty was here protecting his prone friend from being killed.

As he fought on the back of Flik swinging at the black riders as they came, he caught one in the back as he swung his sword back. The black rider fell of his horse as it ran away. The horseman stood back up and took a swing at Dai. Flik reared and his front feet jumped in the air. His gloves slipped off the reigns and he fell backwards and landed hard on his back. Flik in his frustration brought his feet back down and kicked the grounded black rider and ran away from the battle.

I wanted to help them fight, I promised to fight evil to the death, I will not quit now, I will not die now. He thought as he got back on his feet and picked up his sword with him. He charged at the grounded horseman as he was getting back up from the sudden force of Flik’s kick. Through the corner of his eye the horseman saw Dai, he swung up his sword and the sharp metal hit each other. Dai swung back and swiped at the rider as he dodged jumping back. The rider swung at Dai as he crouched down and it sliced the ends off his hair that was still following Dai down. Dai stood up as the rider tried to catch his balance and the metal pierced the armor and sliced through the skin as it went into his body and cut through his back as blood streamed down the tip of the sword gleaming from his back. Dai lost the grip of his sword and fell on the ground. The shine of the sword gleaming in the sun. The body fell on the dirt path and created a sudden cloud of dust. The lifeless body then laid still, he had died, he had been killed.

Again, I’ve killed another. He thought as he picked himself off the ground. Now only the others are left. His sword gleamed as it stuck out of the lifeless body’s back. He turned around to see the others. The riders had come to ambush and the orcs had come to help as promised. I have to kill them all, black riders and orcs alike, they are all evil. They had ambushed us, asking each other and promising to take us by surprise and by both sides. He thought as an orc started to charge at the boy. With his sword in the rider’s body and not enough time to pull it out, he crouched down and revealed a small dagger from his boot. He threw the dagger as it flew through the air and caught the orc in his left eye. A sudden cry of pain came from the orc as he dropped the blade. His sword gleamed in the back of the body. He turned it over with a kick and drew out his sword. The orc knelt on the ground as he pulled out the dagger, dropped it on the ground and held his eye in the horror of his pain. I have to end his pain, I have to end his suffering, pain and suffering are created only by the forces of evil. He thought as he brought up his sword and started walking to the orc.

Katirina thought Oops! Forgot to bring a weapon! so she got out of the way and dropped off her pony. She quickly grabbed an abandoned ork blade and creeped over to the orks. She slashed open their legs and they barely had time to cry before the others hewwed them down. A small wicked smile crossed Katirina's face. This is power, she thought. I like it. Then she proceded to cut off the foot of an enemy horse.

Lara's horse reared in fright, trampling a dismounted black rider under it's hooves. She steadied her horse and drew her sword from her sheath, hidden beneath the folds of her cloak. Her sword, Morceleb, glinted of steel, wrought cruel and menacing. Raising it agianst the sun she cried, "Rohan!"
With a lunge she brought the head of a rider clear off his soulders. The sword's bite was deep and startling for a mortal sword.

Eäráng woke up just in time to dodge a horse falling to the ground... His horse. "What?!? No, it can't be! It just can't!" He fretted over his horse for no longer than was necessary, for he hewed an Orc down to size, and then taking an arrow, he thrust it into another. Then, he saw the most massive Orc that they had ever seen. It had dark, braided hair, and it had war paint, as if going into battle. Eäráng thought that he was one of the Black Riders that had taken his garments off.

Here it was, the final showdown. Everyone, Orc, Hobbit, Elf, or Human, was gazing upon them, whether it was going to be victory for one side... or the other....

Kal heard the orcs approach and turned her horse. Maew gasped as the beheld the Black Riders. One of the others, Kal wasn't sure which one, asked them who they were. Doesn't she know? Kal thought. Isn't it obvious? Everyone drew blade or bow at once. She knew this wasn't going to be pretty. She drew her crossbow and several small axes from her quiver. SHe aimed and fired the first one, hitting one of the larger orcs in the temple. He fell to the ground. She continued firing until she was out of axes. Then she turned her crossbow on its side and retrieved from her quiver several long arrows.

They flew. Orcs fell. In the gore of battle, Kal did not notice that Maew no longer sat on the horse behind her.

Laredith was only armed with a sword, so she had to get into the battle to kill the orcs. Left and right she dodged not only to avoid the orkish blades and arrows, but also to avoid the arrows of her friends...not that she distrusted them at this point, but in a battle you can never be sure. Everyone is moving way too much. All of a sudden, an orkish blade pierced her skin. It went deep within her left arm(Laredith was right-handed). Laredith did her best to keep from screaming. Thankfully, her best was just enough. She continued to kill more orcs without complaint, despite the fact that she had difficulties moving her arm.

Suddenly the sound of hooves was heard and Fimbren rode back from up ahead where he had goner to scout. But it was a shining white fgigure with a flaming sword that smashed the front ranks of the orcs. A Noldo Lord in his fury is a frightening spectacle. Even the riders shrank back from him. "MORNIE ALANTIE" he roared (darkness has fallen). He was in such a battle fury that even his own companions kept away. Orc head after orc head went flying and several riders went stumbling down.

Maew vaulted silently off Kal's horse, he knew he would do better on the ground. Favoring the orcs to the mounted horsemen, he waited until Kal drew level with their main body to jump. Landing in a crouch a few feet before a leader of some type, he immediately rolled to one side, the orc's blade burying itself in the soil where he had been. He whiped out his sword as he rose, sizing up the orc host as he did so. Not more than a score, he thought before plunging into their midst. He was Dunadain, and had been battleing orcs all his adult life. He knew not, afterwards, the occurances in battles, they blended themselves together, individual sword strokes lost in the melee, and this one was no different. Through the clanging maelstrom, and the blur of his own sword ringing about him, he caught glimpses of the others' battles, but they were lost from him, born away by his own rushing blood. His blood calmed only when he met one of the hobbits amidst a field of mangled orc. Katirina leaned heavily on her orcish blade, but she grinned at him, breatheing heavily. He smiled, wipeing his own blade on a nearby orc, a trickle of blood found it's way down his temple, the battle had departed from his eyes and that side of the road, elsewhere, the orcs and horsemen were slain or put to flight, 'Well, maethor*, how was your first taste of battle?'

Her grin widened for a moment, but she did not speak, instead she inclined her head and gestured behind him with her blade, her smile faltered a little. Maew turned. Amid the settleing dust Earang faced off with a huge orc cheiftan. Silently, hobbit and man crossed through their dead enemies to where their friends were gathered.

Even after the battle ended, Fimbren's blood was boiling, he saw Earang facing off against a huge orc. He screamed "For Eru and king Finarfin" he charged the orc and it turned and blocked his sword but Earang stabbed it from behind. It fell with a thud.

The battle was over.

In the growing dusk they company silently took stock of the battle. It is a funny thing with fighting, it seems to eat up time, Maew felt he had not been fighting ten minutes, yet the whole of the afternoon had been eaten away. I was obvious that they could not go on further that night. 'Right, we'll camp down the road a bit, away from all this mess.' Lara said. No one questioned her authority, though it was clear on her face that she was concerned. Earang's horse and one of the hobbit ponies had been slain, and much of their supplies were scattered in the fray. Just about everyone had been wounded in some way, though Laredith was the worst hurt, with her lamed arm. Maew and Katirina stayed behind to collect as much of the belongings that had been lost as they could find, while the others departed to make up the camp and tend to ther wounds. Katirina walked to where her pony lay, it had been struck in the flank by an orcish arrow and had bled to death through the course of the afternoon. She sighed, Maew walked over to her, 'I don't understand death,' she told him, 'Today, I wanted those orcs to die, but more than that, I wanted to be the one to kill them.' Maew was begining to like the hobbit-lass, not the least because of her part in the battle, but all he could find to say was, 'I don't understand it either.' And then he found himself turning away, 'Come, we must gather this up, then rest, you will ride with someone tomorrow.' Kat nodded. 'Be wary,' he added, 'some orcs use poison arrows and blades, do not cut yourself.'

They pulled the saddle bags off of the pony and Earang's horse, and scoured the ground among the bodies for any gear that didn't appear orcish or evil, picking up two more bags, one of which proved to be Dai's, having fallen off when Flik reared. On the way to the campsite, Katirina told Maew of her first expirience in the battle, he nodding when he recalled parts of the tale from his blood-misted memory. The camp was made on the leeward side of a small hill, and water was heating over a conceiled fire. Earang was tending to Laredith's arm, an arrangement neither of them seemed to appriciate, while the rest of the company tended to each other near by. Maew and Katirina set down their own things and put Earang's saddle-bags near him, recieveing a grunt in response as he held a needle in his teeth, preparing to stich closed the wound. Katirina returned Dai's bag, and Maew went to talk with Lara.

'I believe this changes our plans a bit,' he began, 'We are short two horses, and it appears your errend has not gone unnoticed. Have you an idea who the riders were?' Lara replied noncommitally, 'I shall look at the field in daylight, we shall have to decide what to do.' Maew nodded, seeing that she would not be pressed, then, indicating the unclaimed bag, 'Know you who this belongs to? I found it on the road, I do not recognize it.' Lara said, 'Leave it with me for now, someone will claim it before the night is through. You should get that cut cleaned, friend.' Maew had almost forgotten the slash he had recieved, he touched his head just above his right temple, feeling blood. He nodded towards Lara and went to the fire to clean the wound.

At the end of the battle, the road was red. His sword dripped with blood. I'll need to polish it again. He thought as he found Flik standing nearby. He walked over to a head and pulled a dagger from its eye socket. The company moved further on to make camp as Katirina and Maew stayed back to collect any lost belongings.

At camp they were healing their wounds. Dai had not received any major injuries except for a few scratches and bruises. It was luck this time. He thought as he polished his sword. Next time, I might not be so lucky...we haven't left Bree so long and we were already attacked. Moria...that is a long way...we'll be attacked even more...I might be injured or die then.

Then Katirina and Maew returned. He looked up and placed his sword down on a rock beside him. Everyone fought today...each one helped...but are any of them trying to hide their true evil? Was that ambush planned to persuade us to believe in one another? He thought as he looked down on the ground and two feet appeared. He looked up and it was the hobbit lass holding his bag. "Thank you," he said as he gladly took his bag wondering if anyone hand wandered through it. "I saw that your pony was struck and killed today...Flik here..." He said as he pointed over to a tree where Flik had been tied to. "He's strong, I am not that large and I think he'll be able to carry both of us if you'd like. We leave again when dawn comes...it's better to leave soon to cover more ground and if we both ride Flik, he'll be able to carry both of us as quick as the others."

Lara herself had not been hurt as some of the others, but her pride and confidence was. She should have looked out for ambushs. It was her fault that some had been wounded and horses had been killed. But she also knew there was no mourning over past mistakes, she would just look out for them in the future and find out how to prepare for tommorow.

Alaird saw Earangs horse fall towards the prone man and tried to wake him up but there was no need Earang woke just as the horse fell at his feet. Alaird saw the dismay and shock on Earangs face but saw behind it rage that boiled with a determination to kill the orc that had done that to his horse. Alaird was no longer needed. He saw the others attacking orcs and slaying them. He looked down at Sting which was glittering a feirce blue. He sighed and leapt into the fray. He saw Katirinas pony go down with an arrow in it's leg. He wept to do this to such a staunch and faithful pony but with a wounded leg it would be best if put out of it's misery. Alaird wept as he killed the animal and then he turned on the orcs. He tried to see Katirina but she was nowhere in sight.
The battle was soon over with all the orcs and black riders dead, but something wasn't right. Alaird stood in the middle of the battle field trying to peice it together. Suddenly it came back to him as he saw Dai with his sword in the arm he used to kill. It struck him as the story about the Witch King of Angmar that his cousin Merry would tell him. "Wait!" He called out but the others ignored him and continued. Alaird found Perri and walked behind the others feeling lonely, weary, and frightened at his first sight of blood. His breeches were dark with blood and his waistcoat was torn. He would take care of it when they camped as no one bothered with him and as no one would.
They stopped and made camp and Alaird walked over to a small glade that was a tad further off from the camp. Above him the stars shone and reminded him of home. He now realized what it meant to travel. To be lonely and exiled, tired with battle. The young hobbit threw himself to the ground with a sob half from homesickness and half from weariness and fell into an exhausted slumber. No one noticed he wasn't around the fire and as far as the hobbit knew no one cared.

I don't get that.

Ok, if we had been fighting REAL nazgul the swords would have burned away like wood and the sword arm would have been cold and useless(ROTK in the Battle of the Pellenor fields).
If you mean the bit about the others ignoring the fellow I have two reasons for that. One, they just got done with a battle, they're tired, two of the members are greiving over their horses, and it just seems that the opinion of Alaird Took isn't held too highly by his fellow comrades or else they would make some mention of him other than "The two hobbits" Or "The Hobbits." And the other characters seem to be ignoring Alaird so far so why shouldn't it be written about by the author?

Fimbren was completely unhurt. He was covered in blood and everyone assume he was badly wounded but all the blood was that of his enemies. Once he had bathed he looked as good as new.
"Earang" he said, "you can ride behind me on Nahar."
While everyone else prepared for sleep, Fimbren ran on ahead and back behind a ways to make sure there was no danger. After he had assured himself, he also went to sleep.

After tending his wound, just a deep cut really, all it required was some water to clean the dirt out, not even a bandage, Maew sat outside the ring of firelight. He wasn't sure if a watch had been set, or if he was on it, but he prefered to sit and watch the stars for rest. He had yet to peice together his scattered memories of the battle, now he had time to do so, maybe he could put a name to the feeling of dread growing at the back of his mind. His sword rested in the grass beside him, he ran a finger down a length of it's blade and waited for the stars to rise.

ooc: someone gimme a summary of whats going on in rpg.
Halbarad stands upon one of the battlement in Minas tirith. With his sea-grey eyes he looks out west in the direction of Moria. A woman, who's anme he did not know, was sent out to recruit members for a company to take back that place from the grasp of the orcs days earlier.
Halbarad was a kinsman of the King elessar. Indeed his father was a cousin to the king, but he had fallen in the battle of the Pelennor a few years before. He himself was there and rode with Elessar to Erech and followed the Paths of the Dead. He yearned once again for battle against the orcs, for his hatred for them didnt grow dim after the few years, but only increased. As he sighed a hand touched his shoulder- it belonged to one of the King's servants. "The King wishes to see you, lord." With a grim nod of the head he walked into the throne room of the King elessar. 'Kinsman" ,elessar started off, "as you probably know, and indeed you do, a company is being organized to take back the Mines of Moria. A certain woman was sent out on the errand of finding the suitable people for this journey. In my mind I am torn. I think you should have accompinied her, for your valour will be needed. But you are dear to me, and I dont want to lose you as i did your father." Their eyes were locked and a word wasnt spoken for minutes. The King finally broke the silence by saying : "I will give you the choice, Halbarad. For i know i cannot govern your will, and you will probably go anyway. If it is your desire, you may lead a small group of men to accompany Lara's, hopefully growing, host." At this Halbarad smiled and said 'Indeed I will, King."
Halbarad and his men were ready within a days time and sat out on a far more perilous journey any of them imagined.

OOC: Tar-Elendil, we are currently on the road to Moria, not far off from Weathertop. Oh yeah, that summary: We've left Bree, and have gotten into a fight with Orcs. Mostly everyone's gotten wounded, Laredith in the arm, me in the head, and others in assorted places, and we are also down two horses, mine and Katirina's.

Eäráng felt the presence of evil again, but this time it was far off in the distance. He knew this place. It was Weathertop, or at least near to it. He could see the hills in the distance. They were beautiful. He could smell the blossoms, the good smell of pines, and other smells that were pleasing. He was now adorned with a white bandage on his head, where that Orc hit him. Ouch, that smarted when it happened! he thought. It now was throbbing, because he had tapped it against a tree to try to sleep.

Something, just something, was watching them from the trees. Its little beady eyes, its large beard, its short stature, all of it was focused on them all. It decided to withdraw from the light, which it hadn't seen in a long time. A very long time.

Halbarad and his men rode across Gondor trhought he gap of Rohan and then far north towards Bree in maybe a weeks time. They purposed to ask for information in the town of the lady which had been sent out on the errand. Halbarad wasnt sure what to do, and he had an ill sense of foreboding. "We shall make for Amon-Sul first and see what the land tells us. It is most likely she would make for the weather hills after she departs from Bree."
They rode to the northeast for a matter of 4hours. They suddenly halted for they could hear the rustling and mumbling of what seemed to be some small encampment. And then they found what they were looking for. A woman stood among many wounded. Yet, though she herself was wounded, she held her head high and said words of encouragement to the people.
Halbarad and his Men trodded up to them about 30 feet away and dismounted. By this time the woman's whole company was staring at Halbarad and the Men and he noticed their fingers were moving towards hilts of swords and feathered shafts.

Alaird laid looking at the stars for awhile ignoring the voices of the other greeting the newcomers but then a movement to his right caused him to slowly turn his head and see what had disturbed his thoughts. A largish rabbit was nibbling at some clover, oblivious to the hobbit. He lay for awhile suprised that the rabbit didn't smell the blood and sweat that had dired on his face and clothing. The rabbit continued feasting, oblivious to the young hobbit and his intentions of a rabbit stew. Suddenly Alairds arm shot foward and grabbed the rabbit by the hind legs.
Drawing a dagger from his side he quickly cut the rabbits throat blood spewed over Alaird already stained tunic but there would be meat for dinner that night. He walked towards the camp when all of a sudden he saw movement, a short figure had crept from the edge of some bushes to darker shadows beneath a large hawthorn tree. Alaird turned silently on his barefeet and crept up behind the figure. "It's a DWARF" thought Alaird. Many times he had walked in on his grandfathers talking to Gimli the dwarf and the tall elf Legolas when he was small and had come to love and adore them both almost as much as he adored his grandfathers. "But what he's doing I intend to find out" thought Alaird as he crept up on the watcher.
He swung the rabbit (which was the only weapon he had in his hands) and hit the dwarf SQUARLY in the head. The dwarf grunted and turned to face the hobbit. Alaird saw the sharp edge of the axe but he swiftly turned so that his back was facing the encampment and lept from the bushes backwards into the ring of firelight.
The others, company and newcomers alike jumped at seeing Alaird with a limp rabbit in his hand taking a warriors stance and shouting "ALRIGHT COME OUT INTO THE FIRELIGHT YOU COWARD!" Earaing looked up at the hobbit in suprise "Halfling...hobbit...Alaird what's going on?" Alaird kept staring out into the dark forest "It's a dwarf. He was watchin' us an' I didn't like it. Get out from behind that tree dwarf and show us your face!"
Slowly the dwarf made his way blinking into the firelight. It was an old dwarf with a long white beard and a wrinkled face, he stayed in the bushes, and blinked and shook his head as fi the fire annoyed and disturbed him. "Who are you good dwarf?"Called Lara as she sheathed her sword which she had drawn unknowingly Many fo the weapons of the company had srpung into their hands as Alird had startled them. The dwarf opened his mouth as if to say something but only a whisper came out. "Who are you dwarf?" asked Alaird "Dorin." was the answer and then he sunk back into the shadows.
Alaird looked down at the blody rabbit in his hand. He then looked around at the company which had grown in his absence. He sighed "Well looks like we might be having herbed rabbit for breakfast tommorrow. I need to set more snares as we had some unexpected company. An' wot about that dwarf an' wot about you?" he asked as he stared suspiciously at the newcomers....

PS. aZnLiTTleD Haven't you read the Trilogy? Or at least The Return Of The King? The reason why I say that is because even new readers know that the Nazgul have an evil affect on anyone who dares strike them, and as you didn't know that I assume you haven't read LOTR. Dont get mad at me for assuming wrong.

Halbarad was angered by the suspicion of this Halfling. Long had he guarded that land the Shire for the good of that people, but he concealed his wrath.
"I am Halbarad, Kinsman of the King Elessar. I am come out of Minas Tirith to aid your company." At this he looked around at the group." For surely you will need it, your numbers are too small. I see that you underestimate the fell things in Moria. Tell me, have any of you indeed been there? For i have, years ago." The hobbit alaird just glared at him.
"Tell me friends, what evil has befallen you? Orcs are unusual in this territory." At this Lara's group looked at one another.

Halbarad seated himself next to Lara while the elf Eäráng told what had befell witht he black riders and orcs.
"This is evil doing. Horsemen in the guise of the Nazgul? And what are orcs doing here, they never come near the South Downs." Looking at lara he said "What were your plans to get to Moria? They, no doubt now, must change."

Fimbren stood up and said "Nay, I don't know exactly what the plans were. But we should keep to them. I have a feeling this enemy wants us to change plans. a few orcs and riders can't hurt us especially now with our increased numbers."

Halbarad glanced at Fimbren and said "Do you know the mind of our enemies? Do you know the number of riders that might try to assail us next? I dare say you dont. We shall still proceed to Moria, but we may not travel so openly as i daresay you have."

Laredith simply looked on from her place behind the tree. At this point her suspicions of somone looking in on them had been started, but she didn't say anything. She was interested in what was going on. All of a sudden, she heard a quiet hissing sound. She turned around and pulled out her sword.

"What's going on over there, Laredith?" Fimbren asked. Laredith looked around and, after seeing that no one was there, sheathed her sword back again.

"Nothing," Laredith answered.

"Well, don't pull out your sword at a time like this! There are newcomers here!" Fimbren scolded. Laredith nodded and continued to listen to the debate. She felt a little irked because she didn't see what ever it was, if it was anything.

"Peace Laredith and you as well Fimbren, for I fear the captain's words are true," Lara answered looking from one of her companions to the other, than turned to the visitor, "You, Sir Halbarad, are far more skilled in the ways of war and combat than I, and I believe your years go beyond mine as well. This is just my first assignment as a captain, and I request any of your judgement or ideas on the subject,"

Eäráng looked at the company in the silence, and then he spoke up. "You think that this added person will help increase our success in getting to Moria? Nay I say, and it is well that I do so. It might be the end of us all if you do not become serious about this quest that we are on! For I tell you tonight, there will be other attacks, yes, more fearsome than this past skirmish. Some of us might, I even dare to speak, will die from this quest. This is a perilous quest we go on, yes, a perilous one. I know that I shall not come out of this alive, and there are more of you who would die right now, if Eru was not with us! For there are more evil things in the recesses of Moria than you know about!" And with that, Eäráng found a soft, cool place to lay in and went to sleep.

OOC: Halabarad brought a company of hosemen with him.

Maew remained where he had rested through the night, a little away from the others. He watched the arrivle of the newcomers with conceiled interest, trying to figure how they would effect the delicate equilibrium of tensions and straining egos within the camp. What he really needed was time to think, his nights vigil had done little to clear his mind, he could find no logical reason for his suspicions, but the whisperings of intuition were too loud to ignore.

Brooding on the words of Eäráng, Halbarad sat next to one of his Men while they both smoked their pipes. He noticed the hobbit alaird seemed still to be glancing at him at times. "Come Master Halfling, have you a pipe? Sit and smoke with us."

Dai had fallen asleep after they had rested for awhile. The arrival of the small group of men did not awaken him. He slept under the tree where Flik was tied to. The cold and roughness of the stone he had laid on to rest and had fallen a sleep on had awoken him. He looked at the newcomers. Who are they? Enemies? He thought as he laid there. He moved his hand towards his sword, but then he saw the others talking to the group of men. I guess they are our friends, no harm. They look normal enough for me, I'm tired, such things will not bother me now. He muttered to himself and place his pack that was returned to him on the stone to lay down on.

"WAIT!" said Fimbren. "Listen to me, Halbarad may have greater age and experience than you Lara but not more than me. Do you know how old I am?!?!? And I fought in all the wars of Beleriand, I was at the battle of Fornost, I defended Lorien. If anyone should lead because of their age and experience, it should be me. Perhaps more so because of this!"
Fimbren held up his hand and upon his middle finger was the ring of Barahir. Everyone gasped.
"This was a gift from king Elessar, not to keep, but to hold for a tme as a sign of friendship, and in memory of my friend Finrod, to whom it first belonged. Yet, despite all this, I follow Lara. I follow Lara, but I will not have Halbarad come and take her place, great as e may be. Continue on course Lara, that is my opinion. It will be faster and I feel speed is an asset at this point. Halbarad walked up face to face with Fimbren. "Listen Friend. I desire not to take the leadership of this host. I was merely giving council for we could possibly come safely to Moria. I care not of your age. Tis just a number. As far the ring, you put to much value in things made and crafted by hand. And as for haste? Why run blindly into the arms of an enemy which we do not understand? As i said, we must take council in the morning. Im not going to have these people die just for your folly, Fimbren."
Standing in the middle of the camp Halbarad raid his arms and spoke with a clear voice."New Friends. Do you hear Fimren talking? He thinks im trying to take over this comapny. Was she not sent out on the errand by the king? I was sent out to assist her. And im doing that right now. By not letting you take the council of Fimbren and run unneedingly to your deaths. But sleep now and we will carry on this debate in the morning. You need sleep for you have met battle. I fear you wont get too much of one of those in the days to come." THIS RING BELONGED TO FINROD, BARAHIR, BEREN, DIOR, EARENDIL, ELROS AND ALL THE KINGS OF NUMENORE, LORDS OF ADUNIE, KINGS OF ARNOR, CHIEF RANGERS, AND ELESSAR HIMSELF!!!! DO NOT INSULT ME BOY!!! YOU THINK OUR ENEMIES ARE DANGEROUS? BEWARE A FRIEND WHO YOU TURN ON! THEY ARE FAR MORE DANGEROUS STILL!!!"
"Fmbren," aid Lara softly "Calm down"
Fimbren turned towards her and his whole body relaxed. "I'm sorry, but beware. Not all good meaning counsel ends up for good, and that which seems safest is not always safest. And he seems to not understand respect for leadership in you, or age and experience in me. He is a foolish boy to insult a Noldo, you know our tempers."

Fimbren turned and walked away from the camp slowly, gazing at the stars.

From halbarads blankets he chuckled at Fimbren.
"And whats seems quickest is almost never the quickest. You overlook so many things, friend. And don't talk to me about Numenore , for i know all about it. I learned much lore from my father and my Kinsman Elessar. And Boy? Maybe a boy to you in years, but not so with these many people here. Dont flaunt your years in front of me. It is annoying. And I know the linage of the ring. Do you forget I myself am from the line of Elros, son of Earendil?And i turned on none. If trying to save your lives mean ive turned on you, then i have turned on every single person in this host. And refrain from calling me boy, Master Elf. I care not if you are an elf,man or dwarf. I was sent out to aid this party and that is what I shall do. Heed not Fimbren's rash words. For as he said, he has a short tempure."

Late that night Fimbren crept among the group and awoke Katt and Alaird, "Come hobbits, I need your help." Then, with the hobbits in tow he tiptoed over to where Dai was sleeping. Dai finally agreed, if only to keep an eye on Fimbren.
The four; Fimbren, Alaird, Kat and Dai walked over to where the horses were. Take some of the Gondoreans horses, they'll be less tired and the Gondoreans won't need their horses as much, the rest of us have been fighting, we need more time to recover."

With this the Gondorians soon surrounded the whole encampment in pairs.

Lara shook her head when she heard of her compaion's deeds with the Gondorian horses. Fimbren and Halbarad's little dispute the night before had set stress upon the young commander. She would now need to play the meadiator between the two groups, a job she wished not to have.

She approached Halbarad as he stood staring off into the darkness.

"I am very sorry for my companions behavior sir," Lara said stading beside him.

Halbarad turned and smiled, "There is no need for you to apologize my friend. You had no hand in this, I believe."

Lara shook her head, "No, I had no knowledge of it whatsoever. I fear some of my companions can be a bit impatient and at times immature whatever their age."

Halbarad turned back to the darkness, "I know what it is like to be a first time commander, and I believe you are doing a fine job young Lara."

Lara smiled widely, and brushed some loose hair back behind her ear to hide the red flush that was creeping up her cheek. To get such a compliment from a high ranking officer and a relative of the king was an honor, "Thank you sir," She answered a bit too loudly.

At that Halbarad laughed...

When the battle had ended, Kal found her horse had run off. She knew Linsul would return soon, but for the time being, she was on her own. As the group left and made camp for the night, Kal noticed that she had a horendous cut in her left leg. She limped down to a nearby stream and washed out the cut, then bandaged it with a tear of cloth from her cloak. She felt very dizzy. Being half elf, she did not normally need sleep, but suddenly she was also tired. She tried to rise and join the group, but it felt as if her leg was nailed to the ground. She heard the hum of speech, but for some reason not even her keen elf ears could hear what was being said. THe world began to darken, and, not being able to stop herself, collapsed on the ground, and slept deeply.

Ever so carefully, she let her hand go near a bush, and then attacked it. At long last, she finally got a hold of the hissing thing. By now, she had drawn her sword and placed it at the thing's throat. In the darkness she couldn't see what it was.

"WHO ARE YOU? HOW DARE YOU LISTEN TO SECRECT COUNSILS!" Laredith exclaimed. It hissed again. Laredith had already figured out that the thing in her hands was some kind of intelligible beast.

"Laredith! Are you alright?" She called again.

This time, a terrifying shriek answered her call, one that was not human and not Laredith's. Lara took off running toward the sound, her heart pounding along with the footsteps of Halbarad behind her.

They reached a clearing where Laredith stood, her sword drawn, gleaming in the moonlight.

"Laredith what was that? Did you see it?" Lara inquired. The air seemed thick with fear.

"No, and I'm glad I did not," answered Laredith, obviously shaken by the encounter.

"You were brave to challenge the sound," offered Lara trying to make the soldier feel better.

"I believe we should go back to the camp and back to the firelight, do you not agree Lara?" Halbarad said looking around warily in the dark glade.

When we got here we found most of the elves slain and the rest severely wounded. Most are still unconscious and so I left the hobbits with them. We need to find out what happened. This attempt to retake Moria is, I think, more than just the Dwarves returning home. Why else would Gondor be so heavily involved?" He looked at Halbarad intently and Halbarad turned away. Halbarad crawled with his face near the ground in an area by the slain elves. "Look here. The ground is rutted up in the spot. And beside it is a large print. It couldnt have been made by any of the Elves,for their footprints would hardly be seen in this light. It was made by heavy a riding boot." OOC: have you guys forgotten about me?

Kal fought her way out of her dream and forced herself awake. The sun was shining down into her eyes, and it hurt. She looked at her leg. The cloth was soaked in blood and, when she removed it, found the cut an ugly black and blue color. And it had grown. She was, for the first time in her life, frightened.

"MAEW!" she yelled.

OOC: I wasn't forgetting you, but I was being forgotten myself, so... :rolleyes:

The company was leaving for Weathertop. Maew had not seen Kal at the camp when he had returned, but he had other things on his mind, he looked for her now, but Linsul was not tethered with the other horses and Kal was not with the group riding off. He was becoming more than a little worried, but just then he heard his name shouted. The sound came from a fair distance away and the voice that shouted it sounded weak. He followed in the direction of the call, walking back along the road. He got all the way back to the battle site, a rather unpleasent mess by now, and managed amid the mangled carcasses to find a trace of her boot prints and a trail of blood. When he caught sight of her she was laying on her side by a small brook, she had a nasty slash along her left leg and through the drying stream mud and the gaum of blood she could barely move from her position, the slash was obviously poisoned, also, the leg was swollen and motled bruises covered the area. 'Kal!' He said, alarmed, 'Have you been laying here all night?' She made some movement to talk, but he quickly shushed her. 'No, nevermind, I've got to get you back to the camp.' She mumbled something, pointing weakly behind him, 'Linsul.' Maew looked up, and when he saw the horse he smiled, 'Well, thank the Valar for that!' At his whistle, Linsul came, cropping the grass patiently while Maew cleaned the cut as best he could with stream water, and tied the leg off above it, useing strips from his tunic to bandage it. Then he swung her up, as gently as possible onto Linsul's back and led the horse back towards the now diserted campsite.

Lara listened patiently to Fimbren's tale agreeing with him at points. She saw Halbarad's lonely figure upon Amon Sul, inspecting the carnage. She was curious about the commander and it was nice to finally find someone who actually listened and took her seriously

She ascended the once magnificent citadel and approached the captain.

"What do you believe this could mean?" She asked standing beside him. She knelt to the ground, carefully loooking at the dirt for any clues to the enigma.

"I do not, my lady," He answered wearily.

Lara stood and smiled into the captains eyes, "If I am unable to call you sir, you mustn't refer to me as 'lady'." She said and throwing her black wave of hair back to the westward wind.

Halbarad grinned back, his eyes bright, "Alright then Lara," He answered then his face turned serious, "But now, I believe we have a mystery to solve,"

"What? What's going on?" She asked. Lara and Halbarad frowned.

"You should be paying attention. As of right now, we are trying to figure out the answer to the riddles that have been placed before us," Halbarad told her. Laredith blushed. She had just scolded herself for that.

Sam.
ps. Ok Kal's wounded. I'm at Weathertop with Halbarad,Katt, Dai and Fimbren while the others are coming shortly RIGHT? Forgive my ignorance I ummm have a hobbit like mind. Acually I should say halfwit but oh well. And sorry 'bout me not getting back here sooner. We need a quick synopsis of characters for the newbies. Maybe someone shoud start a new thread where we can discuss this synopsis stuff an' all. WHAT HAPPENED TO KAL? When was she wounded. At the battle field? DUDE if you just called out something like HELP or ALAIRD or I'M WOUNDED! I or someone ese would have come to your rescue. ooc: Kal got cut in the battle. Since pretty much everyone was wounded, she found it unnecessary to complain about a little cut, so she went down to the river to clean it out herself. The poison, which she did not know was there then began to take effect. When she woke up, she noticed that the cut had become terrible malignant. So she called out the first name that came to mind, the only person she really knew and trusted-- Maew. And by the way, she didn't know that Alaird was a healer. Anyway, I'll post in a little while.

Eäráng's new horse, an Elven-horse named Nanäri, who was faster than any other horse, was galloping along at a great pace. After Eäráng had reached Imladris, he was treated for his wounds (there was another Orc attack and he had only survived because of the fact that there was some other deciding force in this fight, namely an Elf named Glorfindel). He had found his horse when it had nuzzled him and he decided that it would like to carry him.

Eäráng had reached Khazad-dum. He was just about to go into the cave when a noise reached his sensitive ears...

Maew was silently berateing himself for not noticing Kal's absence sooner, but Linsul was fast, faster than the wind, and in almost no time at all he was approaching Weathertop. He slowed Linsul to a trot as they passed the tethered horses and arrived amidst their startled companions. Not wasting time for explainations he swung off the horse and lifted Kal down, calling 'Help me, she's hurt!' Alaird the hobbit came running over as he laid her gently on the ground. As Alaird bent over her, calling for boiling water, Maew explained how he had found her and what he had done for the wound to the healer.

Alaird looked up from a wounded elf as he saw Maew riding up on his horse with Kal infront of him almost fainting from a foul wound in her leg. "GET SOME WATER BOILING KATT. KAL'S WOUNDED!"he shouted. Then Maew began telling him about what he did for the wound. Alaird nodded"You did good Maew, she got it in the battle didn't she?" Kal nodded weakly. Alaird ran to his pack and pulled out a packet of herbs and clean bandages his cousin Merry had prepared for him before he set out. He took out a huge bundle of shepherd purse to stop the bleeding,some Sage, an herb that his cousin had gotten for him...nightshade. it was deadly in large doses but it would intice sleep and a painless sleep at that And finally he took from his box of small treasures a small dark leaf...Athelas, it would be needed after he lanced the womans leg. From the way it was swollen and red he knew it would be infected. He pulled some badages out for a poultice and ran back as fast as he could to where Kal lay in a fever, not quite asleep and not quite awake.
Katt came soon with boiled water and a branch from the fire. She also knew what was needed for the leg. "Halfling, why do you have that branch?" asked Lara who had come while Alaird was getting the nessicary tools. Alaird only looked up at her with a grimness in his grey eyes that had never befor been seen in the young hobbit "If I dont do this she'll die. She's already fading. It's not as bad as my cousin Merry would tell me about, wounds beyond a hobbits healing but it is serious."
With that Alaird took a small small portion of the nightshade and gave it to Kal who was awake enough to take it. When her breathing became somewhat even he took his knife, passed it through the fire on the branch and quickly cut into the infected wound. From the cut he had made came a flood of infected stuff. Kal cried out in her sleep and thrashed about as the pain seared through her, Alaird then pinched the tip off the Athelas plant and crushing it threw it into the water. Kal relaxed as soon as the fragrant odor spread around the camp. Dipping a bandage in the water Alaird bathed the leg and the prepared a poultice of sherpherds purse and sage for the leg. He tied it about the cut and then helped carry Kal to the fireside where they covered her with blankets......

Lara walked away from the scene after Kal was settled in. The firelight stung her eyes and gave her a headache. She sat in the quiet cool darkness looking out over the still silvery grey world, dipped in the peace of night. The moon hung milky white as bone in the star littered sky. Now she could think.

Could anything more go wrong? First the black cloaked figures, no clues to the mystery of the slaughtered elves and now Kal's leg. Lara hoped Kal's wound would not hinder the girl too terribly. She had grown found of the half elf, half dwarf.

Lara lay back against the grass and closed her eyes, moonlight stroking her face like a mother's touch and soon, before she knew it, Lara had fallen asleep, a thing which sh had not done for atleast two days...

Alaird stared up at the stars above the hill. He hummed a quiet tune his grandfather Samwise had taught him"...I will not say the day is done nor bid the stars farewell" He sighed and then sat up. He took one look at the sleeping Kal and feared he might have given her too much nightshade. He walked over to feel her forehead. It was cool and her breathing came evenly, he sighed with releif. Maew was standing guard and everyone was asleep.
The hobbit looked around at the stones and could not believe he was standing in an ancient tower where battles were fought. A poem or two came to his mind"Gil galad was and elven king. Of him that harpers sadly sing, the last who's realm was fair and free, beyond the mountains beyond the sea. Gil Galad waited here for Elendil." The young hobbit stood amazed staring at the grey stone walls covered in ivy. He shook his head his eyes filled with wonder and starlight. A tear coursed down his cheek as the sad history of the elves filled his heart, of the fall of Gil Galad and all the beautiful elven works of wonder.
Lothlorien was grey and bleak now without the power of Galadriel who passed over the sea with The Ringbearers. His Grandfather would talk about the Grey Havens and how he wished to see Frodo again. Rivendell from what he saw of it when he went witht he other he saw that it was empty and black. The buildings of the elves were empty and songless but the echoes remained.
He shook himself and then walked over to where Maew was on gaurd. Maew looked up at him and smiled. "Couldn't sleep Alaird?" he asked Alaird nodded" I was restless to see this place. I need to walk about so just in case you thought I was an enemy when I come back." Alaird pulled out a pipe and some pipe weed and handed it Maew. "I dont know if you smoke but you look like you needed some. Just give back the pipe." With that Alaird walked out of the camp. Laredith saw the halfing leave so she rose and followed him. Alaird did not hear Laredith behind him. He walked on thinking of the histor of Middle Earth and how he was part of it.
He finally found what he sought. A small dell with trees a stream and soft grass. Alaird sat down by the stream and stared out into the darkness. Suddenly a twig snapped behind him and he turned. It was only Laredith. He sighed with releif "You need to stop doing that. Especially in this place." He shivered. "You know the Ringbearer was attacked in this dell by black riders." suddenly something came back to him that had been driven out by battles and tending for the wounded"Speaking of the blaggards...The Balck Riders who attacked us. I dont think they were Black Riders, I mean they WERE Black Riders but they weren't if you follow me. The REAL Black Riders struck terror in the hearts of their beholders, and any sword that touched them burned away like wood and the sword arm that bore that sword was cold and lifless for days, and the black breath was DEADLY in strong doese. But THOSE Black Riders did NONE of that to ANY of us. They weren't Black Riders. But If they WEREN'T black Riders What WERE they?"
Laredith shook her head "I do not know friend, but they were evil. Cant you sleep?" Alaird shook his head as he turned to stand "No. I was disturbed by something...I was uneasy and restless. I feel something dangerous. It may just be fear or excitment from all that's been goin' on but it may not be. Why cant YOU sleep?..."

Lara awoke screaming from her dream. The nightmare had come again. As always she was on the battlefield watching her battlion being cut down by a band of orcs and she could not move. Her legs plastered in place and arms as limp as a dead mans. And as always she saw a humongous orc come at her with an axe. Just as she seemed to feel the cool sharp edge of the blade upon her neck, she awoke, cold sweat running down her face and back, screaming loud enough to wake the dead. She had had the dream ever since she had been in the War of the Ring and it never seemed to leave her alone.

Lara sat, her elbows resting on her knees, breathing deep. When she had calmed, she looked to the east. The grey touch of morning was coming upon the night stained sky. The sun was rising. She turned to the west to see Halbarad coming from the now dying embers of the fire.

Lara stood, brushing off her clothes. She smiled at the captain weakly.

"Was that you screaming?" He inquired his eyes worried.

Lara smiled wider. It felt good to have someome worry for her, "Yes I fear," She answered.

"Well what happened?" He questioned further.

"Oh just a dream, a nightmare and nothing more, thank god." Lara said sitting.

Halbarad sat next to her. Lara looked at the captain, his blond hair glinting in the sun. She had never noticed but the Captain was quite handsome. Now that she thought of it she had probably been too overwhelmed to notice anything in the past few days. Halbarad turned to see her gazing at him. Lara looked down at her hands, feeling her cheeks turn crimson with embarresment. She heard the captain laugh.

Lara looked up, trying to look insulted but could not help the traitorous smile that crept up the edges of her mouth, "What?" She asked.

"Nothing, dear Lara, nothing at all," He answered looking to the east.

Lara looked in the same direction, still smiling. Soon though she could feel his eyes on her once again...

Eäráng looked around to find the source of the noise, but none could be found. Brushing some hair out of his face, he entered Khazad-dum.

It was a sight to behold! Khazad-dum was shining with miners fishing out mithril from the rocks. The mithril was very nice to look upon. Eäráng spotted his quarry, even though his quarry didn't spot him. His particular quarry was an Orc, ten times his size, with red facepaint and who looked like a regal (if you could call it that) Orc. It was the one who would have to be destroyed if they were ever going to retake Khazad-dum. He looked back into the shadows, because he heard that noise again. Not even his sensitive Elf eyes could find the source of the noise. He turned, sword drawn, back to the scene below.

It was quite a ghastly scene going on. The Uruk-hai, the last of its breed, was sentencing a rebellious Orc to its death. He took the Madh-shapat (Big Sword in the Black Speech) and sliced the Orc's head right off its shoulders. Eäráng had to look away. He saw the Orc's head jump off it's shoulders, and he didn't ever see it come back. The Uruk-hai was pleased with this turn of events, however, and decided to eat the dead Orc in front of him. Eäráng was getting sick. Then he heard the noise again, that strange, eerie noise that had become so regular to him. He turned, and he was suprised to meet a Dwarf, a Dwarf that had come back to retake that which was Durin's.

"My name is Dorong, son of Dorsond, heir of Durin. I am here to regain the mines of Moria. Why are you here?" The Dwarf asked. Eäráng looked in suprise at the Dwarf. He hadn't known that there was already someone here waiting for him. "I have come to free Khazad-dum, for the Dwarves to have once again." was Eäráng's answer. The Dwarf seemed satisfied with that answer. "Good. Have you brought anyone with you?" the dwarf asked again. "Not with me, but I have friends on their way here." came Eäráng's reply. The Dwarf seemed satisfied with his second answer and didn't ask him any more questions on the matter.

Maew followed Halbarad over to where Lara sat, oblivious to or in spite of their self-created privacy. 'A dream you say?' He inquired, concerned. 'Perhaps we should speak more of this while on the move, evil dreams fortell evil tidings, they say, and they are often correct.' Lara, slightly startled by his presence, lightly brushed aside the inquiry, 'No, 'tis nothing to worry about, a foolish nightmare only, I have had it since the War, long before this mission set forth.' Maew was not one to press the issue, but he added this to his growing list of concerns. 'Shall I wake the others then, lady?' Lara nodded, unheedful his switch to formalities. And so he went, recieveing a slightly annoyed look from Halbarad as he did so.

Eäráng and Dorong made a pact for the moment, saying that they would work together for the freeing of Khazad-dum. Dorong went stealthily farther into the cave, searching for the Madh-shapat, the master sword of the Uruk-hai. He had made it into the great Chamber, where the Orcs were gathered around the Uruk-hai's feet. He was saying something to them in the Black Speech, but translated it sounded something like this:

"My fellow Orcs, I have you here to tell you something. We have a small army coming this way, made up of men, elves, halflings, and even dwarves. THey are coming to regain the land of Khazad-dum from us. But I tell you now, they will die before they get here! For even now, there have been several Orc attacks on them, and they should be dead by now. They have at least been hurt, and now is our time to strike! Put on your mithril mail! Put on your belts, your swords and shields! We march to the River today!"

The Orcs crowded around his feet gave a big cheer, and then got on their mithril and suited up for the battle ahead. The Uruk-hai would stay there, in Khazad-dum, along with several dozen of their best troops, just in case there was another offense on their way. Eäráng spotted something round: a Palantir, in clear sight of any spy, such as Eäráng and Dorong. the two comrades crouched low, listening in on the Orcs.

As the company settled into camp, twoGondorean scouts returned to Halbarad and gave him the news. "There is a large force moving north along the Loudwater sir, atleast thrice our number. They're coming straight in our direction." Startled by the news Halbarad asked, though fearing the answer "Is there any chance they shall pass us by?" the scouts then glanced at one another. "No sir. they are arrayed for battle. They seem to be wearing- wearing mithril." At this Halbarad ran to where Lara was sitting and told her all what happened. "I dont think we have the numbers to defeat this host. The orcs of Moria must have espied our travel. What shall we do?"

Finrod Felagund

Fimbren stood.
"I think we have to think for a moment. Firstly, where is this dwarven host from Erebor and Aglarond that we are to meet? If we find them our numbers will be greatly heightened. Now, all of you go the long way and with stealth get to Moria. I leave you in the hands of our leader Lara and the Gondorean Halbarad. I go to find these orcs!"
He pulled from his pack a coat of dwarvish mithril mail and put it on.
"The orcs may have mithril armour but only the dwarves know how to make chain mail"
He then pulled out a shining breastplate and back plate of a black metal "Galvorn and the only pieces ever made of galvorn. This was Eol's armour." On his head he placed a shining helm of valinorean elf make. He armed himself with a bow of Lorien and his Noldorin sword. Over all he put his grey elven cloak. "My gift from lady Galadriel." he smiled as he fastened the leaf shaped brooch.
"Farewell. We'll meet again!"

"I believe we should head out now, and not stop till atleast evening." Halabard replied looking out, after the trail of dust the elf's horse made.

"I think that may be our only choice," Lara answered, turning to the rest of the companions, they must ride right then, before time ran out.

The captains rounded up the host, and had them mounted in a quarter hour, and set to the trail. They knew they must make haste before the orcan host found them...

This was the time! Dorong and Eäráng got their swords ready for battle. The last of the Orc host had left Khazad-dum, and that left the Uruk-hai and at least 36 seasoned Orc Captains at the great Chamber. Eäráng stepped down to meet them, with Dorong right behind him.

"Who are you, that would come against me in my stronghold of Moria?" the Uruk-hai asked. Dorong replied, "We have come to put this game of yours to an end. You really believe this is your stronghold? You have got to be kidding me." The Uruk-hai laughed at him. "Is that the best you can do? Ha! Your cheap heroics are over. Ashdautas Vrasubatlat (someday I shall kill you)! And that day is today! Prepare to die!" And with that, the large Uruk-hai lifted his sword, the Madh-shapat, and cleaved a large gap in the ground between them, causing the elf and the dwarf to leap back to safer ground. Eäráng answered his Black Speech with some of his own. "Nar Udautas (not today!)! It is you who shall die!" came the elf's answer

"You can't defeat me! I am the almighty Bâshlok, the last Uruk-hai in Arda! I will kill you, then suck you down into my gullet. I will make your short time in Arda a living hell!" The Uruk-hai shouted at them from across the abyss between them. Eäráng and Dorong got ready for the final battle.

At the same time as an elf and dwarf faced off against a Uruk in Moria, Fimbren entered the orc camp. He had found and killed an orc scout and using tyhe same arts as Finrod had on the quest for the silmaril so long ago, transformed himself to the likeness of an orc.
He entered the camp and was accepted as a great captain, for so he appeared.
That night, this new orc lord sat by the fire and told them the tale of an elf lord called Fimbren who fought both Morgoth and Sauron in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ages. Then one day he had joined a host going to retake Moria. They had caught the tale of an orc host following so he went back to fight them.

"So this Fimbren is on his way?" asked an orc.
"No he's already here" said the new 'orc'.
The orcs stod and lokked around quickly. Fimbren took that moment to draw two swords, one shining silver blue and the other black and slew the two orc generals.
Then, his disguise fallen away, he slew scores of orcs before running and mounting his horse and riding back to his company before the orcs could do anything.
"There," he thought, "That should help us, less numbers and no leaders."
When he got back to the camp everyone was suprised to see him.
"FIMBREN!! Yelled Lara, "you're hurt!"
He looked down to see his left arm limp and streaming blood, suddenly he felt light headed and reralized how much blood he had lost. He slumped down and Halbarad caught him before his blacked out. Not to wake until the next morning.

Halbarad placed Fimbren gently on some hides and called for Alaird. While he was running over to them Halbarad ripped off the sleeve of Fimbren. His arm was cut from the elbow nearly to the wrist. The poison of the blade already seemed to be setting in. After Alaird had cleaned cleaned the blood from Fimbrens arm he saw that around the cut the skin was green. Alaird then tended him for long into the night while Halbarad and Lara sat near along with Maew.

Lara watched as Alraid carefully wrapped the clean white gauze tightly around the elf Fimbren's arm. Halbarad and Maew sat on either side of her, serious and silent, but Lara knew what they were thinking.

They probably thought that she had failed the mission, failed as a captain, failed as a friend. She had let many of her companions get wounded, an orc host was nearly upon them and they were not even close to Rivendell much less Moria. Halbarad probably would tell her comander that she was not fit for duty as a captain. The worst thing about it was the thought of Halbarad being angry with her and dissapointed in her. Halbarad, who had said that she was a good commander and that she was doing a fine job.

Lara felt a tear slide down her cheek, but she didn't care if anyone saw. What did it matter if they thought her not tough enough for the job. It was beyond her now...

Halbarad looked at Lara and saw that she was silently crying. He asked, though already knowing the answer,"What troubles you Lara?"
"I have failed. The King put his trust in an unworthy person." Shocked at the sudden change of Lara's mood, Halbarad whispered to her: "Why would the King Elessar send you out upon this errand if he did not believe in you, Lara? He knew that you would be able to do this. Many unexpected things have befell your company. Many valiant men could not have done the job that you have. There is still hope yet, do not give up on me." Lara looked up and just stared at halbarad.

Lara smiled. He still believed in her, "Thank you Halbarad." She answered softly.

Halbarad suddenly blushed and looked down.

"I believe he will be alright," Alaird said standing and brushing off his trousers, "He may have a bit of a headache when he awakes, but he'll live."

Lara let out a sigh of relief. Maybe things weren't as bad as she thought. Lara stood along with the hobbit.

"Well Gentlemen, you'll have to excuse for the evening." She said with a smile.

Lara walked off to a secluded place not far from the throng of the camp and lay down. So Halbarad did not think her a complete failure and she had his faith. That was good...

OOC: The timeline in here has changed a bit since the begining (or, rather, it changed then changed back). Some of the time things are a little weird, for example, at this time, Alaird shouldn't have been born yet. :rolleyes:

As Maew looked about at the company he could not help but see what grim fate ad already done to them. Kat rode behind Dai, Fimbren lay beside his grazing horse, wounded with a poisoned blade as was Kal who lay half concious strapped to her horse lest she fall off. 'Lara,' he called. 'We are only a few hours hard ride from Rivendell, we must press on. We must get Fimbren and Kal aid, and soon.' Not waiting for a reply, he turned to Halbarad, 'I believe Fimbren must ride with you, friend, the hobbit ponies are too small and Dai and I already have passengers.' Coming back, Lara gathered the reins of Fimbren's stalion, 'You are right, Maew,' she said, 'we have very little time.' Kal's horse, Linsul, was getting used to Maew's inexpert guidance, as he mounted the company set off and in four hours time they had reached the gates of Rivendell.

"GrrrrraaaAAAAARRRRRRR!!! I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL!" Bâshlok screamed at the top of his lungs. He swung out at Eäráng, but he lept back and dodged the blow. His sword was glittering in the dim light, flashing blue. His blade was made during the Goblin Wars, and was one of the blades that was recovered at the Troll's lair. That particular sword was Glamdring, the Orc-cleaver, and that was the sword that Eäráng held up in front of him now. The elf struck at Bâshlok many times, but each time the Uruk-hai dodged it or deflected it. Then, Eäráng saw the death blow. The Madh-shapat had risen into the air, Bâshlok in the dim light looked like the Angel of Death. Suddenly, Dorong came out of nowhere to deal Bâshlok a deep gash in his side. Unfortunately for the elf and dwarf, the gash was quickly healed. Now there were three combatants, and they all wanted to take, or to keep, Khazad-dum...

There they found the sons of Elrond. "What bring you here and what has happened to our kinsman, Fimbren?" With an urgency in his voice Halbarad said "An orc wound. It has been tended but the poison seems to still be at work. Your father's skill is needed." they continued down the path before the House of Elrond, and here they dismounted. Gently picking up Fimbren he was led inside along with another gondorean holding Kal. The brothers then brought them to seperate beds and Halbarad and the other man laid the two down. When they returned outside Elrond was speaking with Lara while their horses were being lead away tot he stables.

The exhausted warriors Eäráng and Dorong were taking a beating. Bâshlok was beating them back again and again, and by now they were tired. Bâshlok finally struck the death blow for Dorong, though, when the Madh-shapat was slung right through the dwarf's torso. Eäráng had the look of hate in his eyes as he swung at Bâshlok once again, only this time was different. The sword connected with Bâshlok's right arm and cleaved away the hand. Given the ability of self healing, though, the Uruk-hai was back, now even deadlier, with the Madh-shapat gleaming red. With the blunt end of the sword, Bâshlok bashed Eäráng's head and knocked him out, and then the most extraordinary thing happened.

Fimbren awoke to hear Lara and Halbarad's voices and some fair voices.
Elves, he thought. Then he looked around and ralized he was in Rivendell and that the elves were Elrohir, Elladan and Celeborn. Fimbren smiled and rose, his left arm limp. He had some athelas so he'd just have Alaird boil it later and help him bathe his arm. He walked outside. Everyone was suprised and overjoyed. He embraced Celeborn and then Elrond's sons and Lara. He stopped at Halbarad and looked at hi intently for a moment before embracing him as well and whispering in his ear, "Well done my friend."

OOC: This is enough years after the war for Sam and Pippin to have a grandson and when Frodo left, Sam only had Elanor so Elrond is definitely gone. Alaird IS born so its more than four years after. We can alter the plot of our RPG but not other characters lives. And please don't call me an ass. I would really appreciate that.

Fimbren took Lara aside and said, "Lara, you were wise to bring us here. I was wondering, where is Earang." Everyone then realized that Falinaur/Earang was not with them. Dai and Laredith were both thinking how right they had been not to trust him. Fimbren's faith in him was certainly shaken but he maintained that he would never betray them. He then explained that he had killed the leaders of the orc host following so they would be quite disorganized and easier to defeat so Celeborn sent some scouts to find the orcs.

Shutup how many years after the war is this? I looked it up in my appendixes and I do believe it's been 70 years since the war of the Ring. From what I can gather of Shire records and all. When was Moria supposed to be reclaimed? I can leave the RPG quickly. An attack of orcs swiftly in the night catching us unawares should take care of our problem.
What do you think?

ooc: sheesh. enough arguing. Jus tedit the post with elrond in it. Replace him with Elladan or Elrohir and we'll be fine. And if you insist on him being there, then don't make him a major character. And maybe the person who started this RPG could intervene and give us a clue as to how long after the War this is. In any case, I'm going to post.

Kal had been half conscious for what seemed like days. She knew when she was on a horse, but had no idea who was directing it or where it was going. Then she felt herself being lifted off the horse and being carried. She hated being carried. It always made her feel vulnerable. Her subconcious mind was working overtime to try to gather information, while her conscious lay in a stupor. "Dear Eru, what is that?" she heard faintly. Elvish, it sounded like. Then, nothing.

When she finally did open her eyes, the light blinded her momentarily. As her eyes adjusted to the brightness, she noticed plants growing all around. An Elf stood above her. An Elf? She tried to rise, but a strong hand on her shoulder kept her from doing so.
"Nay, my lady," she heard. "You must rest. You may speak if you wish, but for another day you must not rise."
"WHo are you?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I am Elrohir."
"I am--" she was interrupted.
"You are Kalnarnen, the Dwarf-Elf. I have heard tell of you."
"And what have you heard?" Her voice was getting stronger.
"I've heard that--"now Elrohir was interrupted by someone entering. Kal looked to see who it was.
"Maew!" she said.
"Yes, Kal. I see you're better already. The Elves know their business."

ooc: It does not matter what time it is in ME. Just go with the flow of the story. If Alaird is born or not and if Elrond is there is very trivial in the light of eternity. Also, if you want to discuss something that would take a long time, go to the discussion thing. I'll set it up right now, so if you have something to say that does not pertain to the story, go to "Bree to Moria discussion" so it wouldn't interup the story. NO MORE FIGHTING! Its not good to fight, think gandhi and peace and stuff:D

Eäráng looked up from the ground and saw the most amazing spectacle. The 36 Orc Captains that were left behind had their general up high in the air, holding him up as if to congratulate him on the death of the dwarf. Just then, the elven blade Glamdring shone a bright blue and knocked the Orc Captains out, almost killing them. Eäráng found the strength to stand back up, and the Uruk-hai was stunned with disbelief. "WHAT?!? No! It can't be! I killed you!" was all that came from the Uruk-hai before Eäráng sliced his arm off, along with the Madh-shapat, into the abyss that the Uruk-hai had carved into the ground.

After that, the Uruk-hai found the strength of ten thousand men and came charging after the dazed Eäráng. He charged the elf into the ground, then started to devour him, or would have, had it not been for the large, shadowy figure, or figures, that had appeared behind him.

Fimbren was very to the point. "We should take the most direct route, the same taken by the nine walkers. But we have larger numbers so..." he let everyone else realize what he was saying. Being in the open was less dangerous than it had been for the fellowship.

The dark, shadowy figures devoured the Uruk-hai, then turned on Eäráng. They were large, even more so than the Uruk-hai, and they wanted the elf. Eäráng looked at them and saw what they really were: Balrogs. Three of them were positioned to take the remnants of the elf's body, while the largest one, the lead Balrog, was over the elf. The Balrog opened his massive wings, he looked very majestic for a Balrog. In its hands, it held a large cat-o'-nine-tails and a large, scimitar-like sword, which had very sharp designs on the blade. The sword looked like it was on fire, with a blue flame on the end of the blade.

Alaird had been so bewildered by the last few days he didn't bother trying to figure them out. It seemed all to be a dream to the young hobbit, a blur of fighting,running, and chaos. He could only remeber the wounds he had healed and bandaged, but other than that he could not remember anything else.
They were being led to the porch of Elrong where council would be taken as to the best way to take Moria and Alaird meant to sit near enough to understand what was going on. Elrohir led the way to the porch and the company sat all in their own thoughts of grim death and forbodding danger...all except Alaird.
The young hobbit wiggle and squirmed as he tried looking this way an that from where he was sitting, but it was impossible to take it in. This was a beautiful place and excitement ran through his veins as he realized this was where Frodo Baggins had bravely decided to stand forth and become the Ringbearer to his own expense. Katt whom he was sitting with looked side ways at him"Alaird what are you doing?" she asked.
Alaird looked sideways back at Katt. His eyes wandered as he tried to talk to her"Oh. It's hard to beleive this is the very place where the fate of the world was decided. For a hobbit it's kind of hard to take in. Dont you think?" Katt nodded. Alaird opened his mouth to speak but she hushed him."The council is gong to begin. HUSH"
The hobbit shut his mouth but then turned to her to whisper"Katt. I need to talk to you about something important after we're done.Right?" Katt nodded.
Fimbren stood and spoke of the dangers and good of taking the original trail that the nine walkers had taken. Alaird figidet and then stood. Clearing his throat a couple of times he spoke.
" First off I would like to say I came on this quest to seek out the trail of my grandfathers...Peregrin Took knight of King Ellesar and thain of the Shire, and Samwise Gamgee Servant to the Ringbearer and part time Ringbearer himself for a short while.From Woodhall in The Shire to Gondor and...Mordor I wish to travel to see the wonders my Sires saw. But I changed my mind. After I came to this company and travelled with them sharing their hurts and pain and seeing how steadfast they are I wish to stay with them and not to leave. Please Master Elrohir do not send me nor my fellow hobbit away back to our lands like your father woudl have sent my Grandsire Peregrin.
Second I wish to state something that has been on my mind...A few weeks ago Laredith told me of a creature who was following us and a few nights ago beneath Kals window while I was watching her and changing her bandage I heard a rustling beneath the window. Do you now of this creature? Why does it pursue us? And why have orcs known of our quest befre we even set out form Bree? What is going on? Why are we retaking Moria. From tales I have heard it is a dangerous place. So why are we re trying?
Alaird bowed and then sat down amid the hidden smiles of his companions. Lara then stood and opened her mouth to speak.

"As you all may know, the reason of this mission is to get to Moria to witness its retaking and help in it as well." Lara turned to Alaird who sat patiently listening, "The reason why we must retake it is very simple. Mithril. The stuff holds longer and takes harder blows than steel and is lighter than other metals as well. To retake it, would be to have Mithril again, and it would sort of be a closing chapter of the War of the Ring. For the dwarves especially." Lara sat, and let the son of Elrond, Elladan, take the floor.

"I have known long of the plan to retake Moria," The elf started, "In fact, it has been a fond dream of the King for many years and now it seems to be happening. Captain Lara is correct. To retake Moria would be a conclusion to the story of the ring and even a conclusion to Mithrandir, who defeated the Balrog that lived there in the first place. I believe you should continue your quest, but with you I shall send a troop of my own soldiers so if you did meet up with any other orc hosts, you would not be so out numbered." The elf ended sitting by his wife.

"I believe we have no choice but to move on," Said Halbarad, "To have mithril once more would be a great advantage, it would also give the dwarves somthing to do again," He added with a grin...

'Right then.' said Maew, seeking to hasten their decision. 'We shall retake Moria, going by the fastest possible route. A force from Gondor and Erebor will be entering from the east gate and will hopefully win through the mines and we shall be able to trap the orcs between us. On our side of the mountains we shall have ourselves and the strength of elves. I move that scouts be sent out to meet with the dwarves and Gondorim. I volunteer for this duty.' He looked at Kal then, 'If your leg is healed well enough to begin on the morrow, I would suggest that you accompany me, Dain's force may be better recieved if greeted by one of their kin. Strife between allies is hardly productive.'

'You misunderstand me, the name of Dain was but a slip for which I apologize, and I agree that it is the best plan is to trap them between us. However, we must keep in mind that our force will be much weaker than the one at the east-gate. We have only ourselves and a small host of elves to pit against the orcs until the dwarves and Gondorim arrive, communication is needed between us. Halbarad, the King sent forth soldiers to aid in the battle, did he not? When would they draw nigh the Dimril Dale, have we time to send someone before they would attack?'

It was Fimbren.
He looked strangely weary and sad.
"Halbarad," he smiled weakly, "come sit with me my friend."
"Does your wound pain you Fimbren?" asked Halbarad.
"No, no. My wound was nothing. It is just sadness. Here at Rivendell, it was once so beautiful, and it is still but it is fading. Just as Lorien is. Especially now that Celeborn has left to dwell in East Lorien. it saddens my heart. Beauty passes west.
And Moria troubles me. I sense a great evil there. Yet the Balrog was dstroyed by Mithrandir. And the fact that Earang has disappeared id quite unnerving. Oh Halbarad. Remember us, the first-born, when we are gone. Tell the tales to your children and their children. Never forget they who befriended you in the first age. Finrod who first found you and his kin!"
