Ha! I'd never even heard of them. That's just a really good song that's easily stuck in one's head.

You probably remember it cos it was the theme song to some war tv series - perhaps China Beach? I can't remember.

The Animals were a bluesy bad that did a lot of covers like House of the Rising Sun. Good band.

The only song I have in my head at the moment is Love on the Rocks because I feel lonely and unloved! Mx

No, I have never seen a cribs episode about Eminem (Cribs is a series). But the nicest house I saw on Cribs was that of Melissa Joan Hart. Really cool.
I'd have a huge house with a huge park. I have already made plans and drew it. With about 40 rooms and a park and a swimming pool.

I'm really being erm, odd when I say this, but I have gotten out all the christmas cd's I can find, and am listening to it.

Here's one I have stuck in my head.

The Christmas Song
Lyrics by Mel Torme

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos

Everybody knows a turkey and some
Mistletoe help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight

They know that Santa's on his way
He's loaded lots of toys and goodies
On his sleigh
And ev'ry mother's
Child is gonna spy to see if
Reindeer really know how to fly

And so, I'm offering this
Simple phrase to kids from
One to ninety-two
Altho' it's been said many times
Many ways; "Merry Christmas to you"

and another...

Let It Snow!
Sammy Cahn, Jule Styne (c) 1945

Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

It doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I brought some corn for popping;
The lights are turned way down low,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

When we finally say good night,
How I'll hate going out in the storm;
But if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bye-ing,
But as long as you love me so.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Sorry, I HAD to post the lyrics, I am trying to purge myself of the evils of christmas music.

Winter Wonderland....

I am so sick....

Here are the lyrics! ! ! :D

Over the ground lays a mantle of white
A heaven of diamonds shine down through the night
Two hearts are thrillin' in spite of the chill in the weather
Love knows no season, love knows no clime
Romance can blossom any old time
Here in the open, we're walkin' and hopin' together.

Sleigh bells ring, are you list'nin'?
In the lane snow is glist'nin'
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight,
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is the new bird;
He sings a love song as we go along
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he is Parson Brown.
He'll say "Are you married?" We'll say, "No, man!"
But you can do the job when you're in town!"

Later on, we'll conspire
As we dream by the fire,
To face unafraid, the plans that we made,
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Sleigh bells ring, are you list'nin'?
In the lane snow is glist'nin'
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight,
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is the new bird;
He's singing a song as we go along,
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!
In the meadow we can build a snowman
And pretend he's a circus clown.
We'll have lots of fun with Mister Snowman,
Until the older children knock 'im down!

When it snows, ain't it thrillin',
Tho' your nose gets a chillin?
We'll frolic and play the Eskimo way,
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!
Walkin' in a winter wonderland!

Hee hee hee, I love this one....

Sal...don't read this!

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel,
You're as cuddly as a cactus, you're as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch,
You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

You're a monster, Mr. Grinch,
Your heart's an empty hole,
Your brain is full of spiders, you have garlic in your soul, Mr. Grinch,
I wouldn't touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!

You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You have termites in your smile,
You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile, Mr. Grinch,
Given a choice between the two of you I'd take the seasick crocodile!

You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch,
You're the king of sinful sots,
Your heart's a dead tomato splotched with moldy purple spots, Mr. Grinch,
You're a three decker sauerkraut and toadstool sandwich with arsenic sauce!

You nauseate me, Mr. Grinch,
With a nauseous super "naus"!,
You're a crooked dirty jockey and you drive a crooked hoss, Mr. Grinch,
Your soul is an appalling dump heap overflowing with the most disgraceful
assortment of rubbish imaginable mangled up in tangled up knots!

You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You're a nasty wasty skunk,
Your heart is full of unwashed socks, your soul is full of gunk, Mr. Grinch,
The three words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote,
"Stink, stank, stunk"!

Thelonius himself
solo piano by Thelonius Monk
cd by Riverside Records 1987

from the liner notes (edited for brevity):

Thelonius Monk's fourth album for Riverside...is of notable importance for several reasons. This was Monk's first recorded work in the watershed year of 1957, in which he broke through to major recognition. It was his first (almost) entirely solo album. And it includes at least two performances of lasting significance: the unaccompanied version of his classic "Round Midnight," and the one exception to the album's solo format, "Monk's Mood," on which he is joined by Wilbur Ware and -- for the very first time -- John Coltrane.

As far as I know Chains of Pain is a demo Metallica put out. Along with three others: Valley of Misery, the Deceiver, and Follow Me. (I think you can download it from Kazaa) IMO it's pretty crappy anyway - hardly worth the listen (very much in the same vain as the rest of St Anger - no, it doesn't show as a song on St Anger, but it came out around the same time I think. I could be wrong)

Flowers In The Sand
(Roe/Harmon/Spencer)

You make a lot of money
She makes a lot of time
Counts it out and hands it over to you
Never asking nothing in return
'Cuz she trusts you
Believes in you too

You go around in circles
She goes home alone
You could be there with her
But she's still on her own
She's not looking for miracles
She's just looking for love
All she wants is you, because that's enough

She makes it all so easy
You make it all so hard
You've give her dirt
And tie her to the earth
She plants another flower in the sand

You got all the best excuses in the world
But they're not reasons
They don't even rhyme
She's a good woman
But you treat her like a bad little girl
She's a loser
In your little game
The victim of your big crime
She's always trying to work it out
You're only trying just to fit her in
To your self-serving plans and schemes
She thinks you're worth it
So she hangs around
And hangs another day on shattered hopes
And battered little dreams

You trample down your dirt
And harvest weeds
Her love grows
And she waters it so carefully
You scatter all her seedlings
With one wave of your hand
And she plants another flower in the sand

the BJ Thomas Version

Snowdog
09-09-2003, 01:42 PM
In honor of Waren Zevon who went to sleep on September 7th...

Well, I went home with the waitress
The way I always do
How was I to know
She was with the Russians, too

I was gambling in Havana
I took a little risk
Send lawyers, guns and money
Dad, get me out of this

I'm the innocent bystander
Somehow I got stuck
Between the rock and the hard place
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck
And I'm down on my luck

Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The sheet has hit the fan

Send lawyers, guns and money...

Rest in peace man!

I'm stuck singing Aladdin Sane by David Bowie at the moment! Problem is even though I'm an avid Bowie fan I don't know all the words and seem to be singing the same verse again and again. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

don't you hate it when you don't have much time so you sit down to type out a few quick replies and then this 90 second rule comes up and you have to wait when you are in a hurry just to reply to a thread

Sloan - autobiography
here's the first bit of the lyrics:

i'm writing young and gifted in my autobiography
i figured who would know better than me
i'm certainly the former though i'm not so much the latter
but no one's gonna read it so i'm sure it doesn't matter

Going through all of my Kent songs. With all that English music dominating the music industry, it's nice with some Swedish music for a change :)

(Yes, Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride are not his only songs! :) )

I had only a couple lines in my head, but looking through my playlist, I thought it sounded Steppenwolfish. Just as well - I hate having only a snippet of song on my brain.
