what's the first thing the hobbits see in the mirror?
I think Frodo sees an old man clad in white that reminded him of Gandalf.
Sam saw Frodo lying pale and unconscious.
I do not think that Merry or Pippin looked into the mirror.

For a triangle with sides a,b, and c and the angle µ opposite the side c, one has

Gandalf reports at the Council of Elrond that he had already heard of Gollums escape from Gwaihir so Legolas' telling didn't surprise him at all.
As I 'lost time' on this one, I award the next question to mithrand1r!!

Gloin, Elrond, Boromir, Aragorn, Bilbo, Galdor, Gandalf, Legolas, Frodo, Erestor,
Glorfindel, Sam
and then they broke for lunch
later on , Elrond summoned F&S to him, etc. etc. but the council was not re-conviened.

Since it has been four days and no correct replies, I will give a hint.
If no answer after two days (by Friday 20 OCT 2006) then I will let the next person ask a question. (I will hold this question for a future date though. :p)
Hint: You do not need to enter the old forrest to find the answer that I seek.
