Oh, gawd, the drama . Will Harn survive? Will Eaol and Beryn ever learn to love one another? Will Fletch save his love!? Find out next time, on "Gates of Mirkwood!" :D :p

Well, if anyone is unhappy with something I had their character do, I'll go back and edit it, but I wanted to get that little arc slapped back into shape.

Earniel

Ohoo, Beryn gets to be the hero! I like it. Lanor better remembers that. :D Or probably he'll stab her in the back later... We'll see, I suppose, if Beryn's assessment of the situation turns out right. Never did expect Kalin to have such a temper, tssk tsssk, touchy Elf. Beryn may be tempted to give him a shoutin' at later.

Learn to love Eaol?! The man hasn't been awake yet to have a decent conversation with! (Let alone a pint of mead) Heehee. He might be too old for Beryn's taste, though. :p

Is Ravenlocks in the same tent where Beryn found Eaol and Beryn didn't spot her at all? Didn't hear or see her at all? *dubious look* Hmmm... Beryn must be losing her touch.

is there a Doctor in the House?

Oh, gawd, the drama . Will Harn survive? Will Eaol and Beryn ever learn to love one another? Will Fletch save his love!? Find out next time, on "Gates of Mirkwood!"

This was much funnier when i first read it (as i had assumed nothing else had happened :D ) ... i thought we were just sitting here piling on the ad-supsense whilst not posting! Was kinda fun .... anyway

but then alot had happened ...

excellent post tessar, plot thickens again ... thickens with blood mostly! Very descriptive and edge of seat stuff ...

Could be another tent nearby? Tis a camp.

Are we free to post ref: plot twists minor or whatever or do we await direction?

(i, for one will certainly not ask anyone to edit anything ever again! :D )

anyway it was all good as far as i was concerned.

Best

Could be the solution. Else Beryn has to have her eyes checked. :p

Are we free to post ref: plot twists minor or whatever or do we await direction?
I think we are free to go. I doubt Tessar is going to hold our hand throughout the game. :D Sadly, I for one don't really have time to write out RPG-posts at the moment. As a matter of fact I shouldn't be here right now either. :o So I'm off to finish my work but as of tuesday Beryn, or rather me writing for Beryn will be back.

(i, for one will certainly not ask anyone to edit anything ever again! :D )
After effect from the little blow-up in the Ringwraith-game, eh? ;) Poor you. They want you back, though.

Is Ravenlocks in the same tent where Beryn found Eaol and Beryn didn't spot her at all? Didn't hear or see her at all? *dubious look* Hmmm... Beryn must be losing her touch.

Not at all. It's a fairly large tent, and Eaol + the light source were near the entrance--remember Kalin smacked into Beryn almost the instant he entered the tent?

Ravenlocks was near the back, and she hadn't been making any real noise until the groan that Fletch heard. On top of that, any noise she had made probably would've been hidden by the sound of battle.

Anyways--yes you are free to post any plot twists you like. If they affect someone else's char, though, you'll need to clear it with them. I think Eärniel said it once: I've tried to keep the plot pretty bendable, and unless you do something to majorly wreck the plot I can totally adjust to it :p.

Plus the plot's even more bendy since I lost my stupid notes -_-. I still can't find those things.

Butterbeer
08-08-2005, 08:08 AM
My tip Re: notes:
make some new ones (they can be quick and sketchy).

Subsequently lose them.

Bingo! when you are looking for these you'll find the original ones you are no longer looking for!

In terms of plot BB will stand for Butter'bendy'beer henceforth ...

After effect from the little blow-up in the Ringwraith-game, eh? Poor you. They want you back, though.

It was getting wierd and starting to get potentially dodgy: so rather than continue down that rocky path leading to a slippery and steep scree-slope above a sheer jagged rocky drop... i made me decision. ... well there you go, you got to stick by your decisions in life. Best all round i think.

What will fletch do next?
Will he be philosophical?
Will there be enough Mead?
Who really is the traitor: is there a traitor at all?

Who did shoot 'J' Harn?

... join us after these non-commecial breaks ...

I'm back for now. I assume I'm going to have to post Anfal's part now. What do you want to happen, who should survive?

Tessar
08-08-2005, 01:43 PM
Well, I mean clearly Harn is going to survive, he just got knocked out by some sleep poison.

I'm not telling you yet if Lanor survives or not, but I mean... c'mon . Will I really kill off a character that adds such... ummm... tension to the game? *tries to think of a better word*.

:p

And, of course, as for Ravenlocks, the only way I see her getting killed off is if she catches an infection .

Earniel
08-12-2005, 06:46 AM
Apart from Lanor I don't think anyone else has sustained lethal injuries. Anfal was quite a good healer, wasn't he? Then he can come help Beryn keep Lanor alive, if Harn's only knocked out by a sleep potion.

Infection you say? Darn, can't alcohol be used to disinfect wounds? Sounds like Beryn is going to have to surrender her stash of mead! :p

Butterbeer
08-14-2005, 07:40 AM
is there a last post buglar in the house?

Well, let the mead wars begin. I fear Fletch may go seriously bezerk unless someone brings some mead very very quickly.

Will Eaol have seen lanor talking to Semicor when he comes round?

Will anyone volunteer to put ravenlocks out of her misery?

(ps fletch is injured too - not lethally but he's taken some cuts in his fighting frenzy - he won't slow us down but may not be fit - when the adrenalin runs off and he takes stock- to fight for a few days?)

(he is going to need some mead, too! :D )

Earniel
08-14-2005, 08:57 AM
So you're killing off Ravenlocks? And just when you had me convinced she was up to tagging along...

Alas, poor Beryn, to part with her mead so soon... Oh, the drama! The angst! :p

Butterbeer
08-15-2005, 06:41 PM

My thumbs are starting to get all twiddled out!

Spare a thought for a pair of poor thumbs ... good rpg-ers.... have heart on these small digits as they suffer from increasingly severe twiddly-didddly sickness ...

... can you spare a small momment of your time, good sir? Just a small minute to post a few words, good lady? ... in aid of twiddling thumbs everywhere?

All donations well recieved.

( Posts should be delivered to the Mirkwood rpg by the way! :D )

in hope of your generosity ...

Outside the tent, some of the lazier members of the group were talking.
Hah, unlikely! :D Beryn gave them enough to do to keep them more than busy.

And yes, I'll post already. But don't expect Beryn to go 'all-sympathetic' on Fletch.

...well i meant all those mooters with characters that haven't been around or contributing... can't even remember most of the names ... anyway i just wanted to work the joke in ... ;) ... them's the inacive lazy nameless crew hanging round outside the tent having a chat!

heh! Fletch don't want sympathy, he wants Mead! - why should he expect Beryn to go 'all-sympathetic'?

He does expect her, later down the line to have a good mead drinking session though :p

Well, you can't really expect her to know just why you needed that mead. As far as she's concerned Fletch 'ave gone bunkers and wants to drown his woe in mead. :p

He does expect her, later down the line to have a good mead drinking session though :p
We already agreed to that, didn't we? :D Just need to find the proper setting and timing.

Wow Anfal you should go on stage!

How big is this tent anyway? ... is it a big top? ... the party could do with a morale boosting performance!

btw: the odds on fletch's first words being "mead" have been cut drastically by the up and coming new favourite:

I hope that the new Nazgul RPG doesn't damage this one. I notice that several people from this RPG are playing in the other one as well, and doing two at once is harder than doing one alone. So just stick with it! Mirkwood has been an interesting RPG so far. Though I haven't kept up on all of it, I've read portions. I hope very much it endures the buffets of time and now competition, to reach its ending.

Earniel
09-09-2005, 04:12 AM
Thans for the vote of confidence, Lief. :) We managed to restart after some longer lapses of silence so I'm relatively confident we'll see it through to the end. I'm sure our fearless leader will make sure of that. :p

Doing two games at once is indeed more time-demanding than one but as far as myself is concerned, I've always been playing in more games than one at the time. So I'm used to it. In fact I'm currently playing in 4 different RPG's. :D

Butterbeer

is tessar feeling any better?

i can't quite come out of the coma just yet .. i only just went into it!

bang fletch over a horse for now, and bury Ravenlocks (i'm glad you mentioned that bit! :) put a flower and a (small) mead bottle on her grave for fletch ... he'd appreciate that.

I've been twiddling me thumbs most times, and Td has been away a fair bit over the summer ...

plus both Td and i also do multiple rpg's ...

if the nazgul and kings rpg has any repercussions for any other rpg it would be the fellowship of the ringwraiths ... but i hope and trust that will not happen ... rather it may add excellent backstories for that rpg whch is set during the war of the ring... and give it new depth...

Yes, I remembered some of those longer lapses. We had some huge lapses with Hytorax too, I seem to recall. The current lapse is only two or three days, nothing at all to worry about.

I just brought it up because in the RPGs I played in the past, most people were only doing that RPG and not others simultaneously. Thus I'm a bit unsure as to how this will turn out, never having seen something quite like it before. If one RPG becomes really fun and starts going really fast, (Nazgul naturally is right now, because it's just starting) I hope the other does not get left too many miles behind.

Tessar
09-09-2005, 12:37 PM
Yes Tessar is feeling better, thank you for asking :p. Still not great, though, and having to trudge up to college to take my classes isn't making me feel very much better.

I am of course guessing about the wizard head-start because I have no idea of how fast a horse travels.

Interesting use of 'traitor', Tessar. I believe that you had spoken of 'assassin' instead of 'traitor' up to now.

A question. There's only 4 active players left of the small dozen that started. What do we do with the surplus of characters? Do we abandon them somewhere since no one's playing them anymore? Do we keep them all in group-control or do we divide some among the players we have left? Just wondering.

Name: Haetar

Description: A man, tall, who always is cloaked like a ranger. His weapon is a "mithstaf"; a lethal staff made of mithril and pointed at the ends. He also carries several throwing-daggers, and a bow. He has brown hair and grey eyes.

Personality: He is skilled in the ways of the wilds, and this gives him an inherent pride. He will not often humble himself unless he feels it is always needed. He is also very intense, often being upset if he fails.

History: Not much is known about him, but he is rumored to have spent time among the Dunlendings and Southern countries. Some think he is a ranger, but he is more like a wanderer. His past is not entirely heroic...

Is Tessar still doing this? HELLO TESSAR CAN YOU HEAR ME?
Now, tell me if I have the "fellowship" straight: Harn, Lanor (state of health: doubtful), Fletch (K-O'd), Beryn, and Pansy. Is that everyone?

Hopefully Earniel won't think I'm copying off her character's weapon...
It's similar but I doubt people in Middle-earth get cranky for somebody having a similar weapon. :p Besides, yours has pointy ends on it, right? Beryn will no doubt fight differently with hers, so no worries.

Is Tessar still doing this?
I'm sure he is, but our fearless leader seems to be tied up with school work for the moment. He'll be back when he has the time. It's just one of those slow moments in the RPG.

Now, tell me if I have the "fellowship" straight: Harn, Lanor (state of health: doubtful), Fletch (K-O'd), Beryn, and Pansy. Is that everyone?
No, there's a lot of other characters too, but the people playing them lost interest and left. You can see them all entering the game in the beginning. The characters are still here but I've been only using Pansy's name so far because that's about the only name of the other characters that I could remember when I was writing game posts.

Oh, and you forgot Tessar's Elf: Kalin, and the old wounded man Eaol.

School work takes up -way- too much time these days.

I -am- making a slow return to some level of normality though, and I pinky-swear that this weekend I will make another plot-moving post. Thank you all for being so patient with me and for sticking with the RPG. Cub--you can have your character arive at the tree. I'm assuming that when he came across the village it was the afternoon before the fight at the camp had taken place, so if he kept up a good pace he should be able to catch up with the company easily at the tree.

Butterbeer--you can have Fletch come out of his coma/sleep, if that's what you've been looking for a chance to do.

Beryn--you just... keep doing that thing you do. Whatever that is. :D

Nice, :D another victim falls to Pansy's frying pan.

Curubethion
10-27-2005, 09:01 PM
Mmhmm. I thought of the idea when Tessar told me when to meet up with him near that tree. Pansy's the one character that I'll always remember :D , so it just went from there... :D

Tessar
10-30-2005, 11:42 PM
Great posts guys! I'll carry the story on tomorrow morning when I get up :D.

Earniel
11-09-2005, 05:15 PM
I hope the slight borrowing of characters is okay. Will edit if not. Drut was the only other name of the non-player characters I could remember, and I got tired of finding novel ways to write: "somebody unspecified from the group".

BB, this might be an opportune moment to rejoin the waking ones. ;)

Tessar
11-10-2005, 12:53 PM
BB, go ahead and make your character's post, and then once you've done that I can wrap things up and get the story line moving forward again.

Sorry guys, two bad days in a row. I'll try to complete the post tomorrow.

Tessar
11-18-2005, 12:38 PM
One again, sorry. I'm just not feeling good enough to focus on doing something creative like an RPG post. With any luck my head (and nose, and throat, and ears. Bleh) will clear out by tomorrow.

Butterbeer
11-22-2005, 03:05 PM
get well soon! :)

Tessar
11-22-2005, 06:01 PM
Thanks. I'm still getting worse by bits, though. :( My parents think I'm allergic to the paint that they're using to redo the inside of the house.

I pinky swear I'll get something done over Thanksgiving break.

No rush Tessar. Just make sure you rest and make a full recovery.

Butterbeer
11-23-2005, 08:41 PM
of course, ideally by taking lots of rest from everything else .... so you can spend time recovering your rpg strength and posting here! ;) :)

12-06-2005, 04:45 PM
well, the wonders of medicine ...

so, TD, Tessar, Earniel and Curub ... we on for some rpg, again?

Tessar

Sorry, I'm having computer troubles right now. For the past week it's been bugging out--I probably only have a minute or two to write this. I'm not sure when my parents will be taking it in to get fixed.

I'll try to move something from my other computer over to this one, but it's not always accepting floppies and my old comp. can't write to cd.

Tessar
12-09-2005, 09:21 AM
Wheeee! The computer's been taken in (I'm on one at the collage right now) and it should be done later today.

With any luck, the post I wrote over thanksgiving is still on it. I really don't feel like rewriting the darn thing :p.

Yay! We have a post!
What should we do to continue?

Tessar
12-18-2005, 11:42 PM
My thought was for ButterBeer to post next, since the girl (who I almost forgot we had in tow ) spoke directly to his character.

If nothing else, I'll just godmode .

Earniel
12-19-2005, 12:15 PM
Best to bear in mind that Butterbeer is going to take a break from the Entmoot soon and that we will have to find a way to juggle his character as well.

Tessar
12-19-2005, 03:56 PM
He is?!

Earniel
12-19-2005, 05:26 PM
That's what he told us over at the Nazgul-ect-RPG discussion. He said he'll leave around Christmas but hasn't given a possible date for return as far as I know. You'll have to ask him for details.

Butterbeer
12-19-2005, 05:50 PM
Gottle of gear!

that's my stock answer all enquiries line.

Well, whaddya expect ..have you seen the complexities of Artharon???

I hear tell Lief has (or is) going to pm you earniel about east afflick over there? ...boy, lief can be a bit 'sketchy' when he creates worlds and some concise background reading, huh? ;)

Yup, i will be around till either Thursday or Friday ..then it's poncho flipping, sombrero dipping, sunest skied roads a hittin' ....

Ad ios Amigos!

*hears the ghostly lilting tunes of enrico whatsisname playing down the windswept sun-hazed baking roads ...*

Yup, well Do what you like with Fletch ... it's been fun, in a slow, genteel, quiet, almost snoozy sort of way ... ;)

I'll see you tessar on artharon ... and possibly even Earniel????

best all, BB :)

Lief Erikson
12-21-2005, 02:22 PM
I imagine the main Atharon RPG is going to be moving at a pace that isn't eccentric. There is a lot of reading available, for those interested in Atharon's background (like Minor Fwan and I), but most of it isn't necessary, and that of it which is necessary can be skimmed through. I don't believe it should be necessary to come to a choice between Mirkwood and Atharon. As you have pointed out, Mirkwood is moving at a leisurely pace. By and large, Atharon has thus far moved at a pretty leisurely pace as well. Keeping up with both shouldn't be unmanagable, I should think, else I wouldn't have suggested it to Eärniel or Tessar (as I have). But if it comes to a choice between the Atharon and Mirkwood, I do hope you'll stick with Mirkwood :). You started Mirkwood before you started Atharon, and I'm very much in favor of good RPGs making it all the way to their glorious climaxes.

Butterbeer
12-21-2005, 05:09 PM
so you are saying what?

you are not welcome at artharon?
well i must have got it wrong but i thought you invited me there some time ago.

my mistake.

Lief Erikson

so you are saying what?

No, no, NO! You are very, very welcome to Atharon. I just hope that you won't give up on Mirkwood.

Butterbeer
12-21-2005, 06:13 PM
oh, sorry ..took that the wrong way then ... but as i am leaving the moot in general at very least for a while ..not just the rpg ... i kinda missed your point there! :)

sorry- BB :)

How long you going to be gone for BB? We'll miss you over in Tharbad.

Earniel
01-04-2006, 05:12 AM
Well, BB left before making his last reply here, so I took the liberty to do it for him. I suppose I felt a bit god-mody. ;)

We're one player shorter now but lets kick this game back in at least a higher gear. New year's three days behind us so you all should be rid of any hang-overs by now. :D

That is, unless you have all deflected to Atharon by now. ;)

Curubethion

Can someone give me a recap on the entire RP so far, or at least the current events? I beg of you, please! I was going to join the RP, if that's OK, and I read the whole first page when I realized how long it was... Then I read part of the most current page but it wasn't enough for me to run with... So, if anyone could just catch me up on the basics that'd be great! :D

Telcontar_Dunedain
02-09-2006, 10:55 AM
It would probably be better for you to read the RPG so you can know what has happened in the detail it did. Then you could also perhaps take up a character of an unactive Mooter or make your own one.

Earniel
02-09-2006, 11:08 AM
I agree with TD that reading it will be better.

In any case you don't have to worry that you won't have enough time to read the game through, it's been dormant for about a month or so. :)

Curubethion
02-09-2006, 11:51 PM
Hey! What if he takes fletch?
BTW...we really need to get this going! This was the thread I looked at and said "Wow!" when I started in here...cmon!
We need something to happen quick...I think I'll send Haetar out to scout...

Earniel
02-10-2006, 04:21 AM
Hey! What if he takes fletch?
Fine by me, there are even more spare characters beside Fletch to choose from. Unless he wants his own character of course.

BTW...we really need to get this going!
I've been saying that for what? A month already? :p

Mouth of the Dark Lord
02-10-2006, 08:59 AM
If you guys think it best for me to read the whole thing, then I will respect that and read it, I was just worried I'd never catch up. But I'll read 'til my eyes bleed if I it'll catch me up  . As far as me taking up premade characters, I dunno, I guess I could - I might, however, want my own so I'd have to juggle characters... Then again, this system of RP seems to work in that manor anyways. Whatever though, I'm off to read. Hope to be posting soon.

Earniel
02-10-2006, 05:09 PM
Don't worry, I think you'll have enough time to read the game through properly. And whether you want to take over an existing character that the original player left behind, or whether you want to add your own character to the game, that is completely up to you. :)

Earniel
03-09-2006, 07:12 AM
I PM'd Tessar last week or so. He expressed surprise that we were still interested in continuing. I haven't heard of him since but maybe I shouldn't have threatened to hunt him down and haunt him for the rest of his live... My bad.:D

Why don't any of you try PM'ing him? It would serve as a good boot under the virtual butt. (And if this doesn't bring him back to rain down on my like a Jupiter's perpetual storm, I don't know what will...)

Curubethion
03-09-2006, 11:02 PM
What if he lets someone like you or TD take over GMing the RPG until he returns? Maybe you could ask him about that.

Thank you, Tessar! I can't wait to get rolling again!
*repeatedly smacks into...the 90 second rule.*

Wow! what a way to restart it!

Tessar
04-16-2006, 01:08 AM
I'm glad you like it :). It was going to be a man, when I first planned it out forever ago, but today when I was writing the post it occured to me that I've never had a female 'bad-guy' in any of my stories.

04-16-2006, 05:53 AM

I may vanish again (just for a bit this time) till around May 11th, guys. It looks like I have a vocal audition for the music program at my college coming up that day, and I'd like to try to make the date.

I had been expecting to have till July to get ready, but it looks like that may not happen.

I'll try to keep up with this, but I'm going to be busting my butt till the 11th getting my arias ready ;).

Earniel
04-24-2006, 03:49 AM
Oh no, you won't. You just restarted the game (which reminds me, boots everyone under butt. Get postin'!) and you are not disappearing just like that again. *chains Tessar to thread* You can practise here just as well.

Whoop--sorry, guys. I fell asleep this afternoon, and I'm not really feeling great right now. Definitely not in the mood to write. I'll probably be busy all tomorrow, but if I'm feeling better and have a chance to write, I'll get something down.

Ouch! I bumped into a lamp-post! Ooh, I stubbed my foot on a...wardrobe???

Tessar
09-27-2006, 11:06 PM
I'm not even going to try apologizing, this time . I'd waste about twenty minutes typing it out, and then it still wouldn't be sufficient.

Sorry guys. :o

<.<

>.>

Okay, long shot--is anyone still interested? If not, I may try to put together an ending post and close it down, but if anyone else -is- interested... I think it'd be worth at least spending a little time to close.

Also, if I can keep my rear in gear, I've had another RPG plot idea in my head for a while, if anyone would be interested in it once this one is finished, however it ends. :)

Curubethion
09-27-2006, 11:43 PM

Tessar
09-28-2006, 03:49 AM
... you people were -not- still supposed to be interested.

Kidding! :p I'm thrilled to see so much interest in it, still.

Well, it's settled then. This thing is worth finishing the quality way :D. Let me get working on a post tomorrow morning--I'm going to have to try to get it done before I have school/choir in the evening, since I have school/work all day tomorrow.

NOTICE TO ANY NEW PEOPLE

Tessar
09-29-2006, 02:45 PM
Good news! :D

The post isn't quite done yet (I'm hoping to put the finishing touches on it this evening). This isn't about the post ;).

I'm planning to get a laptop in a few weeks, so with any luck that means I'll have more access to the internet. So instead of spending all of my time between classes running for the computer lab, then waiting in line, to check my e-mail... I can spend that time waiting in the classrooms while writing my RPG posts :). I'm serious--that'll stack up to at least 40 solid minutes every day, with something more like three hours on Thursdays when I wouldn'tve had a place to write.

Awesome :). I'm hoping this means more posts, and posts of a higher quality since I'll have more time to spend on the writing.

Tessar
10-02-2006, 11:34 AM
My work-stuff has been totally crazy these last few days, and it looks like it might continue till Wednesday. Because of that, I also had to push back some school stuff, which I'm now scrambling to catch up on.

I'm just poping in to let you guys know that I'm sorry--I might vanish till Wednesday. The post is almost done. Honestly! I pinky swear :p. It's on my to-do list :).

*starts to sing Auld Lang Syne ..*

And for old long past, my joy (sweetheart),
For old long past,
We will take a cup of kindness yet,
For old long past,

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And days of old long past.

And surely you will pay for your pint-vessel!
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet,
For old long past.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the wild daisies fine;
But we have wandered many a weary foot
Since old long past.

We two have paddled in the stream,
From morning sun till noon;
But seas between us broad have roared
Since old long past.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend!
And give me a hand of yours!
And we will take a right good-will drink,
For old long past.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o' auld lang syne.
2.
And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes

But we've wander'd mony a weary foot
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn,
