Dead Roses

By Jennifer Ewing

Author's note: A dear friend of mine (Katherine London woo-hoo, way to go. lol o__O) once said, "Roses symbolize love, right? Well if that's true, then why do roses die?"

They bloom blood red,
But within five days, their dead.
Their once agonizing beauty gone,
Even though of it we were all fond.

Love once was true,
But on we wandered without a clue,
Into the forest of darkness and tears
And without love we took in all our fears.

Love is like roses it blooms and then dies,
Love is a feeling, it has no lasting lies.
Without love we are blind,
Blind to the feelings we are holding inside.

What once was lost,
With one too many cost,
Now is found,
With nothing to do, save to be bound.

post your opinions on it...:p

Grammer shmammer: it should say "But within five days, they're dead."

It was very meloncholy. I liked your poem, which is impressive since I have great difficulty (usually) even reading an entire poem. Yours is very readable, though sad. Nice work. :)

thank you. I'm so entirely sorry for missing that one thing. Forgive me God, I have sinned.

True words dear.

Reading it reminded me of a Rolling Stones song 'Dead Flowers'

So if found, you're bound, but if lost, you are free.
