No need for a long explanation of what you gave it. That's what the other thread is for. It would be interesting to see what the general consensus is though.

I think my standards are just set high what with PJ saying it's his favorite of the 3. A mixed bag but overall, good because I still enjoyed it (4/5).
I'm more excited about the Extended Edition.

The movie, and the directors efforts, in ROTK was like the little girl with a curl in her hair:
for example: very good (Theoden's scenes), horrid (Denethor's).
Overall a 4/5.

How funny. I hated fellowship, thought TT was okay, and following that trend, enjoyed ROTK mostly. There were quibbles (ending dragged, no emotional impact when Frodo left the Grey Havens, etc), but overall I enjoyed it. The battle sequences were amazing - very well choreographed and stuff. And Andy Serkis was good as Gollum. I was a bit sad that PJ didn't take the liberty of 'redeeming' Gollum at the end... kinda thought he might have after the build-up of TT. Oh well. Overall, I give this movie a 3.75 out of 5. Pretty decent.

Ehhhh...it was between 4.5 and 5.0 so I gave it a 5 (rounding). I could definitely look beyond the changes and deletions. From what's been rumored, if the EE is 5 hours, then I'm sure it will delight even some of the hardest critics. I'm really looking forward to some of the rumored additions.

I thought it was awesome. Sure I have little quibbles but the finale emotion affect was awe, for me atleast. Yeah there are little things they could have worked on, quite a bit of stuff that I didn't think was all that terrific, but it still far surpasses 'good' IMO. My favorite of the 3.... gave it a 5

I gave it a 5/5 because I found it just a tad better than simply 'good'. I had some problems with some scenes but overall I found it much better than TTT which deserves a point extra on it's own. But I'll definately need one or two more viewings to fully appreciate the film.

I gave it a 5/5. I had numerous problems with it, but PJ really saved himself with his acting talent. The acting -even in the lame (on the writers' and director's parts) scenes- totally made the movie. IMO this movie is equal to Fellowship (which rates much higher than Towers- Towers was pretty bad IMO). It was BEAUTIFUL!!

This was definately the worst of the three movies. The screenwriting and changes were comical at best. The only reason I didnt give it a 1 was because of the battle in front of Minas Tirith. The charge of the Rohirrim was awesome, well done. Also the Witchking looked great. Other than that the movie was a terrible adaptation.
I rate it a 2.

I've noticed that amateurs always rate things tougher than professionals. Maybe if we made a movie, we'd discover it's harder than it looks.
I'll go along with Steven Graydanus' comments at www.decentfilms.com:
". . .it may also be the most satisfying third act of any film trilogy, completing what can now be regarded as possibly the best realized cinematic trilogy of all time."

I gave it a 5. I liked it alot and would love to go as much as I'm able - what with work, wife, kids, projects at home, etc. Had to go alone to an 11:30 pm showing - told my wife I'd love to see it 20 times in the theater.
It's not like reading the books, but maybe it's all a mere movie can be.:)
(EDIT: PS - I determined at the start to not look at my watch the whole time... so I didn't get the sense of how much I'd seen and how much was still to come. Then I just absorbed the movie!)

RotK is a hundred times better than RotJ as the end of a trilogy. It has more of a sense of completeness, and a real sense of 'our part in this story is over'.

I gave it 3/5.
I think RotK was the wrose movie of the three - it was too long (from some reason I felt as if it lasted for 10 hours), theer were many holes in the story, etc., which ruined some parts of the movie.
I think I 'jugded' the movie pretty toughly, because I expected for much mroe in it than any other movie.

I gave it a 4. Like many of you, I would've put the rating at 4.5 or so. TTT and ROTK were both great, but FOTR is my favorite of the three. Somehow, it seems to capture Tolkien better than the other two do.

I mean, there were loads of mistakes.
legolas definitly didnt kill an oliphaunt singlehandedly, and the lack of the scouring of the shire was an abomidation. when i was about 2 thirds of the way done watching, i didnt like it at all.

:D hi guys...I'm a newbie here and a big fan of the LOTR (books and movies) just like the rest of you.
I gave ROTK a 5. It was a good adaptation of the books although understandably PJ had to cut a lot of the plot from the book because it would just be too long wouldn't it?
The effects for Gollum were so great...Andy Serkis deserves an award...and the CGI team as well!!!

I gave it a 5/5 just because of the ending. that was great. the rest was a 3 or 4/5 due to mistakes, but the ending was so good it bumped the rest of the movie up. I mean, I'm very surprised PJ could understand and express the grey havens as well as he did.
I'm worried about a movie of the sil though, as I think PJ just couldn't appreciate the "celticness" of the story.

Are you implying that the theatrical version did not contain great stuff? If so, future possibilities isn't much of a basis for a perfect score.

As people said - I already voted. I think I gave it 3/5 maybe 2/5 - can't remember at the moment. My comment regarding it is on the first page I think.
And I'm not conservative necessarily in cinema or politics - just a free thinker. In politics I lean more libertarian than conservative. In cinema I go for films I like.
Lord of the Rings did not match up to the comments Jackson made before the movie came out. He should have followed through with his comments instead of giving them lip service for me to have accepted them.
If you want to see my wide range of films I like you can see most of my collection at DVD Listing (http://my.hsonline.net/~rrosetta/dvdlist.htm) I think I have a well rounded movie collection.
Edit - just checked - I'm sixth poster on page 1. I gave it a 3/5. Not a bad score considering how much I hate it - but I hate it as an adaptation and for Jackson's lies more than as a movie.
