I just thought it might be fun for LOTR-fans to rate the books. I meant for everybody to come in here and post their opinions.

I'd give it a 10.
And it should also get some credit for being the only book ever to be taken serious despite containing a character named "Bombadil".

Should I change my last post, or should I just let my fellow 'mooters duble my ratings (though I may change then for a 1-10 scale)?

I didn't know that one could edit another poster's post .
(I sometimes, by mistake, happen to punch the edit button instead of the quote button and been told that it's the Admin prerogative to change posts)

That's not what I was saying at all! I was asking if I should go edit my post, or if other 'mooters should look at it, and take what I said and double it, but not edit the post, just double it to know what I was saying(for example, if I pute 3 down for something, and they would take the three and multiply it by 2, and then my rating would be 6, see?).

Meaningness: 10
I think that JRR had a really good meaning behind his books. It wasn't just an epic adventure but a story about the real world. "The best way to show reality, is through myth," I think he said.
