Actually, I would prefer some rules, some dice throws, and a little more Umph! Not so much that you've got to play the game with a calculator! (Been there, suffered that!) Maybe I'll plan and run a game like that after the first of the year.

This is pure improvisation.

There are a lot of directions here. I will try to weave them together, and others are also working off of each other.

The suspence is, that no one knows if we can pull it off, that is to say, have a story that finishes by tying up all of the loose ends by the time the Hobbit Heroes arrive.

This means that all of the evil characters will have to "play dead" when they get shot (like we never did on the playground). This also means that all extraordinary characters must fade away in due time.

I think we all (excepting possibly Tater!) want it to end up so that the Scouring of the Shire can take place as written. Frills and flourishes of our own should not be too far off cannon.

Then again, some of you may want to do a complete rewrite, but ask yourselves this...

Are you prepared to have Saruman of Many Colors as Lord of Arnor?

I would never even considering braking canon. Of course the scouring will go as planned, I'm just having a bit of fun, and I realize I have to go bye bye somtime, I play bad guys all the time, I know I have to lose eventually.

I like the unstructured RPG because it gives the writers so much freedom and room to be creative. Card and dice games I don't like, no room for fun IMO!

BTW, I added Enchanting Camelot to the web ring here, which has some really great writers running very enjoyable rpg's

You don't like dice RPG because you never experienced a good DM. You still have lot of place for roleplaying and having fun, the dice are just there to tell you: yes you can do that or no you can't.

Yeah, I think the games got really complicated because that way folks had to buy more stuff to play them!

We threw it away, developed an easy system, and had a lot of fun.

But we spent a lot of money on Monster Manuals, etc. before we wised up.

Yep, you need a good GM for a good game. I'm running a game (the game is the creation of my best friend and I)every Friday right now with some friends and everyone is having a really good time.

I just wanted to say that this is really turning out well and everyone is making some great contribitons.

Ya know, this is the first time I've ever played a stoopid bad guy, cause it's the first time I've been in an RPG where a certain outcome was necessary. Sure, when I'm the bad guy I always loose in the long run, but I tend to take some ppl down with me, as well as challenging the heroes in a way they'd never expect (right Aara? ;) )

That means that Saruman, having been quite busy, is probably done for the evening.

Tater and his men are off getting drunk.

Sauganast, the mysterious Red Wizard, has not been seen for a while.

Right now, things are developing with Shanamir's party and the sorceress.

Ok, now we have to decide, do we do the same ending but without the same heroes, or at some point Mr Baggins and co. are supposed to arrive??? I believe we are gonna do it with our own little heroes... so what do you think?

Well, seems to me that we can do a little of both.

The job at hand will be to deal with all of the extraneous evil elements. This can happen without the hobbits being aware of anything! Then, when the hobbit heroes ride into town, things are as they should be, the hobbits do their part, and, as usual, know little or nothing about those who have defended them!

As long as we don't have a gunfight in broad daylight in the middle of Hobbiton, we ought to be able to pull it off!

Here is the situation at hand.

The ranger and particularly the dwarves, are out of commission for the rest of the day.

The hobbit lass is in much better shape, but not likely to do much on her own, or is she?

Galdor & Co. may or may not give advice, and may or may not help more than they have. They have their own things to do, you know, and may have other ideas.

Grima will not enjoy telling Saruman what has happenned.

No one but the company knows there are orcs in the Shire, and no one knows they are in the factory... Or do they?

The mysterious xivgg and the red wizard are nowhere to be found.

Tater and some of his men will be going about with the Sheriffs to steal (foreclose) on various choice businesses and farms.

Saruman will extend his power into Buckland. He will learn of what has happened at the towers...

When night falls, fire and smoke will begin pouring out of the new factory, and hidden away inside, the goblins will be working away to build Saruman's war machine.

Wormtongue will oversee this.

There is plenty to do, or there will be.

Saruman of Many Colours is not through with you yet!

up to now when i have post i have done my best so that only my char do the talking but it's getting harder and harder so i'll have to make the other character talk

We've had plenty of adventure so far! In fact so much so that we will soon reach the point where Frodo & Company will be returning to Scour the Shire, and our work here will be done.

As Xivigg mentions, there is adventure to be had outside the Shire!


THE STATE OF THE ADVENTURE

We have some loose ends. Orcs are somewhere, and you do not yet actually know where they are. Galdor & Company have messengers afoot and these will soon return. Saruman's plans for dominating the Shire are well underway, and your band is small, and still very weak. In fact, it is morning, Shanamir is up and alert, but Galdor insists he remain in camp for the day. Rosie is still very weak. The dwarves are in stable condition, but not battle ready.

Tater is fetching Saruman of Many Colours to the scene.

What will our heroes do?

Ahh! But the orcs left that camp and journeyed to the factory with Wormtongue after you intercepted him! This you might have divined from his mind, as Shanamir suggests, but since we did not actually write that at the time, it might be better to use Sauganast to find the orcs.

Which he just did! (I was sweating over that...)

Now, he's got to find all of you again so that you can lay your plans! It will be interesting to see what happens next!

Galdor's messengers should return to the heroes camp in a day or two with news of the land. Meanwhile, it seems to me that there are some vile fellows at the Elf Towers whom the Ranger owes a little payback for the murder of his friend and for his own imprisonment and torture. Galdor may not be able to dissuade him...

Xivigg may or may not die...I think it depends on how soon Sauron is defeated. It should be fairly soon, looking at how much time would have passed in the East since Saruman went North...

Ok, I'm aiming for Sauganast to go see Tom Bombadil, in case you can't tell. I originally said in my post that the Valar sent him to find out who this "mysterious being" was, but I think they probably knew about him. At least Gandalf did. Since this is a controversial,murky subject, I just had Sauganast himself be looking for him. I'm kind of thinking of Saug as a powerful but less experienced wizard, and a maia of Manwe, so he specializes in weather probably...I guess we'll see what happens.


I'll be checking up on this story to see how it's going, and I want to see some new posts, so don't get lazy!

sorry forgot to explain myself here, it was a late night anyway what i was figuring was something backwards and wierd... and heh i forgot the really complex part of it but i do remember me wanting to sacrafice myself for Xivigg and the old man givng me the trust those words half of them meant something and they were supposed to be what the old man told Anga something like "Save save the enchanted woman, Iron Spirit" somehting along those lines, anyway I figured i could sacrafice for Xivigg (yes it must be the looks ;) ) and then I would maybe introduce another character later or take control of someone who wasn't anyones like that elf boy Caran or whatever. Its Anga's time to move on and to sacrafice himself. His past is something you must guess to yourselves maybe Shanamir will. Anyway you could make your characters say no to me but then I think you would be dissapointed in what I would do next. What a whispered to you Shanamir was somehting along the lines of "i can save her, I see the way you look at her old friend, I know you love her. I can save her, it has been my lifes purpose to do so, a life for a life mine for hers, you love her and your love is something nobler and truer then anything i can imagine, dont worry i knwo what i do."

What the party does not know, is that two goblins are making their way probably a 2 week trip, to Gundabad. Call it another 14 days back to Bree with a brigade of orcs, to meet the bands of men that Saruman hope to throw at Bree simultaneously from the South. This must be discovered if it is to be prevented or thwarted.

How the spectre will play into this, only the shadows know..."

The only thing from above that has been solved so far is that I believe the goblins are dead, everything else still needs mending

Ok, does anyone remember how big of a party we are? I think someone added a group of elven warriors somewhere along the way, and if Anga will get better...;)
We might be able to take either the factory or the elven towers back.

Im going away for a couple of weeks if my character gets in the way someone may control him and do whatever they like(try to keep him alive ;) ) He can get better if that will help the story I really don't mind. Thats it I hope it picks up.

after that we can goes slaughter some orcs

Orcs.
Your plan sounds good, but I think that after your
character dies, the party will have to split up. Rose has to
be in the Shire when the Hobbit Heros show up. Do you know if
Shanamir is coming back soon? I think you said earlier, but I
don't remember.

As Elbreth mentioned, I've been busy, things had fallen off and I couldn't write it ALL, after all!

But now that my back is healed, my internet service is restored, and the elections are over (Entmoot & USA), perhaps I can write an ending.

Then, I would ask the moderators to Lock the Hobbiton thread down.

So, if anyone wants to finish up some business in Hobbiton, they'd best do it quickly!
