Dumbledore as an 'old hippie'? And having them wear Muggle clothes? A curse on the new director!

Well, erm, interesting. Very different. I've hated the HP movies all along, but still....very different. Not good. Not book-accurate. Not smart.

I saw those pictures on another site too.

There was also a picture of Sirius and Lupin it's a small picture but from what i can see they are not how i imagined them to be.

Seen the pictures. I prefer this. And by the way, robes are in the movie (there are pics of those as well) - but do they wear Hogwarts robes to Hogsmeade, etc. in the first place? I'll have to check up on that.

I remain far more excited about this movie than the past two, now that they've actually hired a director with talent. What's going to make or break the film is the handling of the Time-Turner.

Well you know, the last director stuck pretty firmly to the books, and the movies while good, weren't particularly memorable. Perhaps, by breaking away, the new director will be able to make the movies a little bit more interesting. He certainly has the right background for handling teen/pre-teen angst. :p

I dont think we should be so worried as the books progress they are less class orinated and more spare time orinated and lets all admit it when we are not at work or school the uniform is ussualy the first thing that comes off.

Also at the risk of been labled a big pedofile Emma Watson gonna grow up to be fit :D

lol.

I'm deffinately looking forward to the next movie. PoA is my favourite book by far (than OOTP) I just wasn't expecting Sirius and Lupin to look how they do.

Some things are differnt...a lot of things. I really don't agree with Dumbldore as being an old hippie but...whatever floats your boat. Now I'm thinking I know who he is but just to be sure who is Gary Oldman? And why are they always in mugle clothes in all the scenes? Hello, where are the wizarding robes?! This is still Hogwarts isn't it? I agree with whoever said it that Sirius and Remus do not look like I expected them to.

Gary Oldman played Dracula in Bram Stoker's Dracula...he also played Beetohven (sp) in Immortal Beloved ...I think he was also in the 5th Element and Air Force One. I never picture Sirius with a beard and for some reason I always pictured Remus with longer lighter hair

well, based on these pics... i'll have to say f*** as well! i think the one thing i won't be able to stomach is everyone in normal clothes and not robes. what's the deal with that?? i could handle it if they were in muggle clothes not during classes and such but it appears there are no robes to be found! i was really looking forward to this movie (since Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book) but now i'm skeptical. Sirius and Lupin look totally different from what i pictured... let's hope it follows close to the storyline and maybe that will make up for any other problems we may have...

As odd as this may sound, I think they could have gotten Liam Neeson to play Sirius. At the beginning of Les Mis. (the movie) he has a very Sirius look about him, and he's such a talented actor...he could've done it.

We don't even know when/where that photo is supposed to take place. You can't say that's in class because it doesn't say it is, so just relax. They're still wearing the robes in the 3rd movie; the director has made that clear. So everyone take some Ritalin and nap! We don't need anyone breaking out into seizures and falling in a comas so soon. ;)

yes of course i do. I dont mind the look of them really i mean its set in our time so why shouldnt they follow our trends they are not that backward. I dont like in the first movie when they go into the pub in diagon ally and they all look like extras from pride and prejudice :p

I have to disagree, i think that half the magic is in the sets and costumes (the other half being in the acting). If you dress everyone (including extras) in normal clothes, you might as well just set it in a modern school! The whole point of Harry Potter is that there is another world that we are unaware of, so why not have characters that look like they're from another time? I respect your views, i just don't agree with them

gah! i can't just sit here waiting for someone to watch the trailer... it looks really good and my fears about no robes have been totally comforted because i saw the students wearing robes at some points. there's definitely some good shots in that trailer so everyone go watch it! definitely looks like its going to be a lot better than the other two... as long as the time-turner is handled well.

They played the trailer last week twice on our news here (two different channels). Some of the pictures in the beginning of the thread look like not all shots are wiuth them in custome (at least that is what I first thought) but the trailer does show them a lot in street clothes. I will wait until I see what this turns into. It looks like Hermione is wearing low-riders and that just isn't her. I don't mind a new director - but don't change the look of the cast. I'm hoping what some people have said isn't true. JK Rowling was really protective of the movies before - I hope she is with this one too.

I saw the trailer, and although it was too short to tell much, I wasn't that comforted. Lupin- a moustache? What's with dat? Perhaps this was intentional, but the Maniac!Sirius on the poster doesn't do much for me. Then again, I've never been a big fan of the Harry Potter Movies. Maybe it's just because I've never liked Emma Watson much from what I've seen on the movies/interviews etc. *Emma fans bash Chipalote over the head with Chamber of Secrets DVD*

Welcome to the 'Moot, Chipalote!

Yeah, the 'wanted' poster of Sirius was definitely weird. And from the other shots of Sirius, the poster didn't even look like the same guy.

Nurvingiel
11-23-2003, 12:15 AM
Just to clear this up... all the shots of them in Muggle clothes are just because they're rehearsing. Dress rehearsals are only a small part of reahearsing.

I'm ready to cut this new guy a lot of slack, because Christopher Columbus wasn't any good.

what's with the singing?

Elf Girl
11-23-2003, 12:47 PM
My guess about the singing is thus: Remember in the first book how they sing the 'Hogwarts School Song'? My guess is that they've replaced the somewhat lame words from the books with cooler ones.

Chipalote
11-23-2003, 01:44 PM
For those of you who or wondering, the song is from Shakespeare's "Macbeth".

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble--
Something wicked this way comes
Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
Something wicked this way comes.

Thanks, though I doubt many peoople were wondering. Well-known, Macbeth. *recieve Obvious Statement of the Century award*

Okay, I've watched the trailer now, thanks for the link! :)

I agree with Elf Girl (has Halle Berry present her with the Obvious Statement of the Year Award) and Chipalote and all those who went, "What is with the ridiculous, blatant MacBeth rip-off singing!?" (Or something to that effect.) That sure wasn't in the book; I doubt J.K. Rowling would insert a quote from a play where witches represent all that is horrible and evil.

My other question was, what happened to Snape when someone cast some random spell on him? I don't remember that from the book either, but it has been a while.

Malfoy does look stupid, but he is Malfoy after all. I don't care what that little git looks like anyway. After the 5th book, I have no time to waste on that tool.

Overall, it looks super cool! I absolutely loved the scene of the stopped train at the beginning. For those many of us who have read the book, it forbodes Dementors! Mwahahaha!

Sirius looks cool too. I agree that Liam Neeson would have made a great Sirius, he is a brilliant actor. (Schindler's List!) But this guy does look like he'll fit the part well. (Shouldn't that scene in the cell which I assume is Azkaban have shown him curled up as Padfoot?)

Hmm. Looks like it's time to go to class...

Cheers for now! Count down to June 4, 2004!

Elf Girl
11-24-2003, 02:57 PM
I don't mind them putting in 'Double double', I just think they made the song to cheerful. Hogwarts students are not the people to be singing it! Perhaps if Narcissa Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange each got on one side of the portrait of Sirius's mother and sang it.... :D

is that the "boggart in the wardrobe" scene you mention? or does some other spell get cast on him... i only watched the trailer once all the way through because my comp. was playing it in bits and pieces and i had already been on line pushing three hours...

Yes, it's looking like it's shaping up to be really good. I had really low expectations after seeing the initial pictures (if you see my first post in this thread), but it's shaping up to be really really good.

In the lastest issue of "Entertainment Weekly," they had a few short reviews about trailers out now, and Prisoner of Azkaban is one they looked at. I guess they rate them using "A, B, C, D, or F," and they gave it an "A-" i think, so that's good! :D

I watched the official trailer for PoA again at www.harrypotter.com.

Earlier in this thread, I defended pictures of Harry and co. wearing Muggle clothes at school as it being a dress rehersal.

I was wrong - for some completely pointless reason, they are no longer wearing their uniforms, but Harry was wearing a tie for some scenes, so maybe they only wear them sometimes.

Still, a questionable trailer does not bode well for the movie. I was hoping that the new director would be better than Chris Columbus, but he seems to be worse.

But I'll reserve my final judgement for after I've seen it by pirating it off the internet, I mean renting it. ;) :D

hmm, i thought in the 'boggart' scene the students were in robes, it gave only a quick glance and at first i didn't realize it was neville but i'm pretty sure they were in robes.

also in clip with draco - apparently in a classroom - making the magical little origami swan or whatever, it looked like they were in uniforms.

i'll hold out till i see it, but now i think that even if robes aren't present for the most part, i'll deal if it follows the plot. *if robes are totally gone though... there's no telling what i might do...*

I must say I'm very very disappointed... I'm not too fond of the HP movies, but I love the books... But... making them wear NORMAL clothes?! That's going TOO far! I'm just crushed... I don't think I'll ever watch another HP movie in my life...

I think that it looks okay. Definatly better then the other two movies. It'll be good to see what the new characters are like, and if the child actors have improved at all!

What I don't get though is, what's the thing with Herm grabbing a hold of Ron's hand? I know some people think that they will be 'getting together', but even if they do, putting something like that in the movies this early doesn't really go well.

Well, the second trailer looks okay but just like Lalaith_Elf said what's up with Hermione and Ron holding hands??!! I hope that those two will never ever get together...

I really don't know what to make of this...

On the other hand, I have to say that I really liked the way Sybill Trelawney was portrayed. She's pretty much looked like I imagined she would.

Oh well, I guess we can do nothing but wait for June to come around.

I personally liked the trailer. And the part where they're holding hands. They should get together. Ron and Hermione are perfect for each other!!

One part in the trailer I liked was when Harry did the Expecto Patronum spell. Dan Radcliffe was acting for once!! Whoohoo!! Sorry. but I just don't like him. He has one facial expression.
Look at this site. It's halarious!! http://www.emma-rupert.com/Funnies.html
