Does HOME contain a post-Silm./pre-LOTR story?

I was wondering if The history of middle-earth contains some kind of post-Silmarillion/Pre-Lord of the Rings story, telling us in detail about the conflicts between Elves, Men and Sauron leading up to The Last Alliance of Elves and Men and the first defeat of Sauron.
