View Full Version : Mooter's Patronuses

I was wondering what you guys think your patronus would look like as well as those of your fellow mooters.

I think mine would be a fox. Scheming but not too low as to slither on me belly.

Mine would probably be a cat. I like to have fun and be funny...but sometimes I just want to be alone, so I bite. :D

mine would be a beaver becasue the rule, and so do I, plus, we are both Canadian.

You'd have to remember that what your Patronus is doesn't only depend on your personality- there are other factors. Look at Harry- Prongs- his father as an Animagus.

But I suppose you could do some solely based on personality. I'd like a bird of prey, or a large cat such as a panther.

This thread reminds me of the Daemons thread- based on Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy. :)

mine would be maybe a dog or a horse

I was reminded of that too, Lin. :)
I would hope my patronus would be a dog, since they're my favourite animal.

If it was reflecting my personality, it would be something rascally and naughty, like maybe a possum dancing on a tin roof, or a racoon stealing someones food. If it was influenced by my life, then it would be something a bit more insideous, like the python that Harry talks to in the zoo.

Lin, you SO don't remind me of a bird of prey. If I were to place you as an animal, I'd say you were a labrador. No, maybe a german shepherd, cos I used to know one that used to hide from me, and jump out when I was least expecting it... Damned thing.

I didn't say I was reminiscent a bird of prey- just that I'd like to have one as a Patronus.

I don't hide from you, nor do I jump out at you. Do I seem to jump out at you? *shrug*
Why am I a labrador? Do I seem like a follower type person?

Psssst: I can't read/manipulate other people's minds. That's K. :p
Dumb Kiwi for thinking I could. :D

Ok, fine. If that's the price I have to pay for my Conspiracies, so be it. Just so long as I'm not like that rabid dog in To Kill a Mockingbird. Sheeana, I think your Patronus would be a bear or something. Or a bug. :D Well, let's just think of violent creatures, and you're on the right track. (jk)

Hmmm...

I've had the nickname Squirrel since, well, I was little. And I guess I act a lot like a Squirrel (possessive, unsettled, aloof...) so I would say a squirrel.

:D This reminds me of the ancient days of Ferret and Squirrel. And to people who have read the books: no, I'm not talking about that ferret. The ferret I'm talking about was an old friend named Jena.

I'd want my Patronus to be something like a platypus. Or an echidna. Well, I am Australian. No koalas tho. They look cuddly, and then they've got these HUGE SCARY EVIL CLAWS! And not a possum, because one of them bit me once and I've still got an infection from it, three years on. Evil little b*st*rd it was.
Lanelf.

Mine would be a Lion - for some obvious & not-so-obvious reasons. I can be very laid back & relaxed, playful etc etc etc & I don't get angry very quickly / will let things slide when I'm offended or mad - but f**k with my family & I'll kill you.

Linaewen
07-07-2003, 10:10 AM
Yeah, a lion suits you very well, K. :)

Though this thread reminds me of the Daemons thread, it's a bit different. Some of these animals you could have as Daemons (If I remember correctly- creatures that are sort of a 'part' of you), but you've got to wonder what use something like a possum or echidna could have when Dementors are around. They're not very big, are they? :p

Rána Eressëa
07-07-2003, 10:43 AM
For patronuses: the size doesn't matter. After all, they're not solid. :) It's their strength that matters, and that depends entirely on you.

my patronus would probably be something that is patient but can be tempermental, friendly, tall, strong, and kicks ar*e.
Probably a horse or my boyfriend:D :D :D

I'm not sure what mine would be. I'm loyal, brave, strong, a Gryffindor at heart... Mine would most likely be a lion too, because you mess with my friends, and you mess with ME. And that is SO not something you want to do!

I'm sure mine would be Obelix. :p I started saying that as a joke, but the more I think of it, the more it makes sense. He represents important things for me- innocence, friendship, loyalty, and facing the world with good humour. And he *is* a "Hagrid-sized" figure as Harry imagined...

By the way, if you don't know who Obelix is, go here (http://www.asterix-obelix.nl/)

If Salquënòrëwen can be a frying pan, can I be scissors? Highly useful, painful to cross? Sharp, inanimate, object of doom, currently lost?

Or maybe a horse. Or a unicorn. Something vaguely equine.

I have always wondered this question for myself but could never figure out the answer. I love wolves and dogs and that naturaly would be the prefered patronus to me but you really don;t chose your protector like Harry had a stag.

For me maybe a dog because when I was a baby my dog got between me and a wolf when the wolf was curious of me.
But then again squirrels are a family favorit.
Maybe a greyhound.

Yea! I was thinking of a crane too! Specifically, a Sandhill Crane. What amazing birds.

My Patronus, naturally, would be a tree! Except I'd want one that was good in a fight, and they all seem to be animals, so my Patronus would be a Moose.

Maybe I would want my Patronus to be a Sandhill Crane. I wouldn't want to mess with one - they're huge birds with a wingspan of up to 2m!

I've seen a flock of Sandhill Cranes landing. It's so cool. To descend from their high altitude, they spiral down for at least half an hour! I've also been to Burns bog in Vancouver. They nest there, but I didn't see any.

for me... i dunno. either a dolphin or a white tiger. exect it would be more of a silver tiger, so it wouldn't matter if it was white...or would it? and i don't think it matters if it's a sea creature. it would just swim along to the dementoid(:D ) or lethifold.
dolphins are very fast agile and strong. they could easily take out dementors. and tigers are also very dangerous (duh)

Yeah, but it would be a deeper shade of silver than normal silver. If you get my meaning. Kinda like if you take a 9B pencil and shade something in really dark. So it looks dark-grey but it has a silver sheen to it. And I'm talking crap again arn't I???

What's a 9B pencil, btw? And how can it's shade be silvery?

Lalaith_Elf
02-14-2004, 08:03 AM
Artists pencils... 9B is used for deeper shading. And it's just the way it looks if you press really hard to shade something.

We'll I would know that it was a Black Panther. And you can only get two types of panther can't you?? And with patronuses can't you see some detail to the animal?? So if it was a normal panther there would be faint spots on it's coat. With a black panther it would just have a smooth coat.

Just read book three so only now know what this thread is about. :p

I'd probably end up with something I won't expect. It'd probably be nothing I'd like it to be so no cats, no elephants and no frogs. If it relates to personality it will probably be something not too brave or active and certainly no big and sleek predator. Perhaps a badger or a flying fox, or possibly a penguin.

If it is something that's supposed to keep me safe I fear it will be a large stuffed white rabbit... :p Or just maybe a brown bear.

I just read something about a crossbred animal...a tiger with a lion... it's called a Liger and I'm not kidding you, they get between 3 and 3.6 meter long.... I want that one as a patronus :D

We-ell, if it is a penguin like Human Pie's rice-fed ones, then the dementors will most likely have nightmares afterwards.

I was thinking more along the lines of her Flying, Deaf SuperPenguin. The one who replaced the eagles in TLA. Not that the likelyhood of dementors having nightmares decreases any... :D

Oh yes, like the vengeful one that was constantly following Zandalf. Aaah.. good memories. :D But yes, that would be a reasonable defensive patronus too.

My petronous would have to be the most feared animal on the planet... the poison footed, mamal fur having, egg laying, duck billed Platypus!!! Serious the platypus is proof of gods sense of humor... that little freaky animal has no place in the world... its a mamal, but it lays eggs and has a duck bill... is it a bird? Or a mamal? Or a reptile? The enigmatic nature of the feared platypus would confuse any enemy enough to use its mighty poisonous back feet!

I heard of the liger. I think I saw a program on Nova or Discovery featuring this gi-NORmous liger, I mean HUGE. That liger was huge.

That liger in the picture looks definitely overfed but not larger than it should be, IMO. Yet I doubt it would have enough space to stow another dementor in there. :p

Dunno, The picture is misleading. Even my puddy-tad looks twice his size too when he stretches. Cats are suprisingly stretchable.

But judging by the height of the hips, the liger's size still seems reasonable compared to normal tigers. Taken in account of course that being bred in captivity (good, regular meals, less exercise and no risk for injury during hunting) would probably mean bigger individuals than their wilder counterparts.

Still, would make a strong patronus... If he doesn't eat you as easily as the dementors. :p

Can patroni eat? And is it Patronuses or Patroni for the plural?

Actually I read in National Geographic Kids that Ligers never stop growing. I can try to find the article.

Actually, Earniel, they are lacking the growth inhibitor gene - they have growth dysplasia - wiki article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liger) - so they would be way way bigger than the tiger.

hehehe, the first guy from the right, the one that's "bottle feeding" the liger looks like Nicolas Cage :D

and to answer lady marion magdalena, since Rowling uses "latin" words, it would be more assumable (imho) that the answer to your question is Patroni.

and no, Patroni can't eat, they're just "ghost-like" forms that CHARGE after Dementors, they don't really attack 'em physicly, the dementors just run away(even though one dementor got swooped up by the harry's stag's horns)

Interesting article. Trust cats to mess up their genetics. :p

*wonders which tigers she has been seeing then that she still think ligers are not all that much bigger*
