I am starting LotR for the second time and can't decide whether or not to read the Forward.
Can someone please help me?

Read the Prologue, it doesn't take long, and will be much more interesting now that you've read LotR through once.

Read it, read it!:)
I'd bet 99% of people here would tell you the same thing.

I think you should read it. If this is your second time reading the book, you'll catch a lot of interesting details in the Prologue that didn't seem to meananything the first time.
Happy reading! :)

Yeah, you definately should read it. It's not that boring in the second time since you know now all the story - you know hobbits. Read it - you won't be sorry.

Read the Prologue, it's part of the story and shouldn't be left out.

I've always read back to front. The forward, preface, advertisements, and everything.

Well, I'll be that 1% then. Don't read it! ;)
Just kidding! You must read it, since you've already read LotR. (Some first time readers may find it tedious & be deterred from reading it). I love it the prologue- it's brilliant. I even know parts of the 'Note on the Text' off by heart- and used in against Gwai. :D 'Elfinking'. :p

Read the whole thing! It won't be as boring because you know the stuff it's explaining already.

You should read the prologue, but you should definitely read all the appendices! (if you haven't already done that by now...)

I would reccomend reading the forward but at the same time I would reccomend doing what you want. If you don't feel like reading the foreward, don't. But I don't know why not...
