View Full Version : What actor would you envision in the role of....

Elvellon

Reading this thread (Can The Tolkien Estate ALWAYS Hold The Silmarillion Rights? ) gave me an Idea:

For the Tale of Beren and Luthien:
What actor would you envision in the role of
Beren?
Luthien?
“That Evil Elf?” (guess ;) )
Melian?
Finrod?

What do you think mooters?

Shadowfax

I don't even want to go there! It would break my heart if anyone ever attempted to make a Silmarillion movie, or even a movie of one of the tales, such as Beren and Luthien!

Elvellon
06-27-2003, 11:17 AM
But that is not what I ask, I ‘m just curious whom people see as the actor/actress more “in character” with the Silmarillion’s characters.

maby ewen megregor as beren
or hugh jackman as fenor being he could look like a posessed elf
elisha dukas as luthien cant act but shes hot
saah michelle gelalr as melian

It would be hard to think of actors and actresses to play characters from The Silmarillion, just because in my mind the characters seem to be bigger than life. The only character I could come up with an actor for, is I thought of Joaquin Phoenix to play Feanor. He played Mel Gibson's brother Merrill in Signs and he was Commodus in Gladiator. To me, he's always had that angsty broody thing going on.

Try "Flabio" as Finrod. ;) Ooh! Ooh! Or Arnold Schwarzenegger as as Beren. :D

Elvellon

Yeah, I can see it now, Thingol demanding the Silmarils to allow Beren and Luthien marriage and Beren answering, “I’ll be back!” with a funny Austrian accent.

Well you have to take Fabio from a 'few' years ago.

Sister Golden Hair

Well, no, not exactly. Fabio is handsome, but he isn't Finrod. Finrod is, well, more handsome. There isn't anyone out there that can be Finrod.

Gwaimir Windgem

How about Brad Pitt then? ;)

Seriously, whom that you know of would you say is closest to your mental image of Finrod?

I don't know. I see Finrod as tall and blonde with beautiful eyes, but he has a boyish way and a baby face.

Yeah - I can't think of Luthien being a petite little insiped blonde - she needs some fire in her veins to keep Beren happy ;) (I loved lil Ms Hayek in From Dusk 'til Dawn too.............muchos hot)

Not Harnet! Hes just to pretty boyish. I mean colin looks like he could hurt you doesnt he? Beren i allways imigined been a bit rough round the edges probably why Luthien liked him so much. The thing about Beren and luthien i allways imigined Beren looking a lot like Aragorn so its a shame we could just cast Viggo in the role but that would be stupid

How about instead of thinking about movie Beren and Luthien we try to think live performance stage acting Beren and Luthien? I know a couple of my friends could probably pull it off. For beren I have this friend who's really tall and thin and has sort of shaggy dark hair. He's a really good actor and he does a lot of main male character parts. For luthien this girl I worked with when we did dracula, she's medium height and really thin with long black hair and she's absolutely gorgeous but still real looking. And she can sing too.

Isn't Fëanor supposed to have long hair? Has Tom Cruise ever had very long hair? I can't imagine it. Well, I can, but it doesn't look very nice in my imagination. ;)

One doesn't need heighth and long hair to possess either in a movie. You can be made to appear over seven feet tall, and you can be given long hair.

Denzel Washington, if you must know. I have radical ideas, but I'm telling you, it'd work. Washington can get across the nobility and compassion of Manwë Súlimo, no problem. I can see him looking keenly down at Melkor, cast before his feet, and questioning him, and I can see him bursting into tears at the fiery words of Fëanáro, delivered by messenger. Go ahead, call me crazy.

I think he's too old to play Turin. Though maybe a very young Alan Rickman could fit the role??? (I haven't seen him in anything older than "Sense and Sensibility", so I wouldn't know!)

Hurin: Liam Neeson
Huor: Sean Bean

I agree; she *could* work, but she's a bit too old. If they ever made - God forbid! - Morgoth's Ring: The Movie, I can see her as a great Andreth. Possibly too young for *that* role, but she has a look of great wisdom to her.
