Class: what r classes??
Classes are in real paper rpgs, they deterimine how many and what kind of skills you can have, your mindset, your hp, how many dice you attack with, and almost everything else. Your class is the ranger. In the paper rpg I'm working on, you eventually get to cast nature spells, and you start out proficient with a longbow and various swords. You are also an expert tracker, and a guardian of your lands. (You'd be surprised at how many classes barely get any weapons or skills at all, and the archery proficiency is rare)

(Where'd ya gert your av, Kalile?)
Okay, the Last Sane Person tipped me off to this. If you go to Google, and click on the image tab, a bunch of pictures show up that match whatever you typed in. (Duh ) If you type in Glorfindel, eventually you will come to a picture in the same style as mine, click on it, and it will show you a bunch. Save one, and viola! You've got a cute avatar. (Actually, they're the only ones that are already 60 x 60 pixels, and I can't get any of the others that I like better to fit. Oh well, at least I have one!)

An elf was wondering around some wood, when she saw a lovely bridge, finer than she had ever seen. She walked acoss the bridge and saw a grand village. It was fall, so leaves were faling and dew lay on the grass. The young elf walk into the village, and she was greeted warmly. "Hello, young wonderer, where are you from and what bussines brings you here?" Said a cherful elf. "I am Silme, I come from Mirkwood. I saw this place from a distance." She said. "This place is called Rivendel." Siad the cherrful elf.

IC

Astarien sat astride her horse, riding again in The Hidden Valley. It always calmed her the way the breeze blew through the trees and the smell of musky leaves, crunching pleasantly under hoof and foot. She had gone out at dawn, crossing the bridge on foot. Now it was past midday and Astarien would be expected back within the city gates. She sighed and whispered a few command and along with a gentle nudge of her heel, was riding back toward Imladris. After crossing the bridge and dismounting, she looked around. A few more visitors, but she didn't mind. She had to talk to Elrond about a few things but that could wait. Astarien could find any excuse to put off talks with Hir Elrond 'en Imladris. She stabled her horse and walked across the courtyard, heading for the tree lined path towards THe Last Homely House. "Maybe Father will be in a better mood today." Astarien thought wistfully as she looked across the courtyard.

Rorin drove his beer cart into Rivendell. It was his first time here, and he wasn't sure how he would be recieved by the elves here. He set his small tent up, and prepared to start selling.

Silme*Christian
07-06-2003, 10:09 PM
OOC: just be human.:D

Silme stayed there for a while, drawn to the beuty of Rivendel. It was late, and she had no place to stay. "Do you have a place to stay?" Asked a young elf, as if reading her mind. "No, I have no place to stay, I am a stranger here." She replied. "stay in my quarters, I could use the company." The young elf insistead.
"What is your name?" Silme felt she had to ask. "My name is Larien" She replied. So Silme accepted the offer of the kind and beutiful elf girl. She desided to take a walk through Rivendel to see all it's glory. She chanced upon a rough looking dwarf selling ale by a small tent. She longed for the cool refreshing tast of ale made by drwarfs of far off lands. "how much do you charge?" Silme asked the drawf. "Three penies a bottle." answered the dwarf. "I should like one please." She handed him the money as he handed her the beer. "I have never seen a lady drink ale before, exept the drwarf women in my lands." He said with suspition. "There is a first for everything." She replied with a smile.:)

Gulio, Strength of Many

Aewionen hummed quietly to herself as she neared Rivendell. She had been born in Gondor but wanted to travel around Middle Earth so she decided she would go to Rivendell and see it's marvelous beauty. When she arrived, she saw a dwarf, apparently selling beer. Aewionen smiled, That is a good way to begin a friendship. As she dismounted her horse, she began to hum once again.

Kalile
07-07-2003, 01:51 AM

Ohhhhhh. Thank you! And thank you Eowyn! :D
Hmmm...

Ic: Kalile sat high in a tree, listening to the Wind of the world. It brought her news, sometimes, and others a gift, still others an invitation to ride. Today the wind whispered of great change coming, of the Sea.
She looked down to see a dwarf set up shop under her tree. How odd, to see a dwarf, much less selling something in this Valley. I wonder why Elrond allows it... he must have reasons. She decided to watch and discern what these might be. As one of Elrond's minor plentipotentiaries, she had to know who came and went whenever she could.

07-07-2003, 02:04 AM
OOC: Sigh, i'll be me then!

I walked nearer to rivendell and sighed, i liked the peacefullness of it after so much swash buckeling and adventure. I had followed a certain midget elf i knew and came to befriend. I found her sitting in a tree. I first went over to the dwarf, feeling rediculously tall (i am tall among elves so i kinda felt out of place), and bought a 2 pint and then hoisted myself along with my ale beside Kalile in the tree.

Kalile
07-07-2003, 02:09 AM
Ooc: Ooh! Look! 490 posts!

Ic: Kalile looked around, and laughed. "The wind didn't tell me about you coming... ah well. It's good to see you!
Oh, and as you can see, I have become a full Wind-walker and have much greater power now. How is it with you?"

The last sane person
07-07-2003, 02:14 AM
"alll is well with me. A few wounds, but they will in time heal. What brought you to rivendell, to be under patronage of lord Doooom'N'Gloom himself?" I didnt quite like the fatalistic veiw held by most elves, Kalile laughed.

Kalile
07-07-2003, 02:18 AM
"Well, you can hardly blame him; he's been alive for so long, and he's seen much death and destruction. He just doesn't think of the flower that grows out of the ashes of fire."
Kalile gave her friend a playful shove. "ANyway, he's half human, so why are you complaining?"

Silme*Christian
07-07-2003, 09:39 AM
Rorin smiled at the lady buying his ale. "A jewel among women, that you are lass." he said. "Have another, free of charge." he offered with a smile.

Silme smiled to him. "Thank you." She said. "I needed a good ale. Many worries have been on my mind." She lifted her head to noise in the trees, there she saw to elves, one was unusualy tall for an elf, talking and enjoying their vew. I wonder what they are up to. She thought, Mostlikely two love-birds enjoying a romantic evening. She said to herself with a smile.

Dreran the Green
07-07-2003, 10:01 AM
OOC: A lot is happening!

IC: Dreran walked through the Hidden Valley as the voices of elves rang in her ears like so many songbirds. She wondered where Elrond was, but did not care at the moment to find out; she had just seen a dwarf selling ale.
"A pint, my good dwarf" she said walking over to him and handing him some coins. He smiled and handed her the ale.
"Thanks!"
"Hello!" She said, turning to the people beside her, also holding beers. "Nice day for a dwrven beer, eh?"
"Any day's a nice day for that." said Silme. Dreran laughed and took a drink.

Silme*Christian
07-07-2003, 10:05 AM
"My name is Silme." She said with a friendly smile. " What is yours?" She began to think good of this. Maybe she would come to use in my jurney. She said to herself.

Dreran the Green
07-07-2003, 10:08 AM
Dreran smiled back and ordered another pint
"Dreran the Green. Its good to meet you, Silme." She looked up and saw the two people in the tree above them.
"Friends of yours?" she asked.

Silme*Christian
07-07-2003, 10:16 AM
"Love birds I suppose." She replied. "As much as I would love to talk to you, I really should retire for the night. I have quite the jurney tomarrow." She said. "Take care now!"Said Dreran as she turned away, and headed to Larien's chamber. "take care to you too!" She hastily cried out.

Aewionen
07-07-2003, 04:39 PM
Aewionen walked up to the dwarf, "A pint for me Rorin," she said handing him the money. "I am Aewionen," she added seeing the look of question upon the Rorin's face, "I have seen you sell ale before and I got your name while listening to you talk. Sorry for eavesdropping but you were one of the first dwarves I had seen." Aewionen gave a smile, "How is the buisness?"

Gulio, Strength of Many
07-07-2003, 05:26 PM
"Much better then I thought it would be," Rorin relpied. "Most elves prefer wine to dwarven beer. And what might a child of men be doing in Imladris, if you don't mind my asking."

Silme*Christian
07-07-2003, 08:49 PM
Silme had not slept well that night. Her jurney was on her mind. I can't do this alone. She said to herself. I need help. She desided to ask some locals from around here...

IC

As soon as Astarien heard the strange voices in the courtyard, she did an about-face and headed back from whence she had come. Again she was thankful for the delay. When she reached the courtyard, The youngest daughter of Imladris slipped between the trees and a cool stone wall to listen to the different conversations. All these visitors surprised her, although they shouldn't, Astarien reproved herself. Many elves and men alike have come to Rivendell, but it had been long since a dwarf had entered into the Hidden Valley. She slipped from her hiding place and approached the dwarf. "Good evening sir!" Astarien inclined her head. "My name is Astarien, and may I inquire after a small pint and your name?"

Kalile
07-07-2003, 10:32 PM
Ooc: To all of you: I HEARD THAT!!!! ;)

And I suppose that it is tomorrow now?

Ic: Listening to the conversation below, Kalile began to understand. Elrond must have brought the dwarf here to help people meet. This journey the young woman spoke of must be of crucial importance... she decided to stay up in the tree for a while longer, to see if she could glean any more information and extrapolate from there.

Silme*Christian
07-07-2003, 10:33 PM
It was sunrise, and Silme wanted to get an early start. "Larien, where would you recomend for me to look for people who are willing to go on a jurney?" She asked. "Why not ask those people whom you met last night?" She suggested. Silme took that to thought. I hope that Rorin's beer stand is still up. She said to herself. "You wouldn't happen to know where I could find a lady named Dreran the Green?" She asked. "I don't recall the name." Replied Larien. "But perhaps you could ask Elrond." "Elrond?"She asked. "Whom is he? And where would I find him?" "Why, in the last homely horse of course!" Said Larien. Larien gave Silme the diresctions to his house.

Kalile
07-07-2003, 10:45 PM
Elrond knew what went on his valley, and sent Kalile to go fetch Silme. Now I KNOW that this journey is of great import. Elrond had warned her not to tell Silme that she was being awarded any 'favor' by seeing him right away, so Kalile had to be content with just thinking.

"My name is Astarien, and may I inquire after a small pint and your name?" a young elf asked Rorin.

"My name is Rorin, and of course you may have a pint." he said as he sold another one of his beers. "This is the most I have seen of elves buying beer from me in a long time." he commented to no one in particular.

"Now Aewionen," he said, turning back to the young lady, "What might you be doing in this city of elves? You and I are a bit out of place here."

I stayed up in the tree with Kalile and eavesdropped on those below. "lovebirds? boy, they are a bit off!" Kalile and i snickered at that but went on listening. Soon Kalile had a summon from Mr.Gloom, i decided to follow her.

"But you werent summoned! what are you doing?" she asked laughing.

"well, i am not known for my passivness, so i think i will go anyway! you know i dont care about snooty elves or Half elves! I go where my friend leads!" So i followed her.

Dreran the Green
07-08-2003, 06:29 PM
Dreran sat under a tree, bored. If she drank any more ales she'd blow up, so instead of going back to Rorin she decided *for lack of a better thing to do* to go visit Elrond.

Gulio, Strength of Many
07-08-2003, 08:56 PM
Rorin had sold enough beers to justify a break. He walked about a bit, nodding to the elves he passed. Sometimes they would nod back, but most of the time they just ignored him. He was used to that, and usually used it to his advantage. The extra hobbits weren't the only ones listening in on the council of Elrond. If only there had been one less and he could have gone...
Oh well.

Rorin walked around Imladris a bit more, examining the stonework. It was pretty good. He saw a few elves hurrying to where Elrond holds his coucils. Let's see if I can listen in on this one as well. he thought, and headed to the meeting room. He hid in his last spot, a rather good place. You would have to know exactly what you were looking for to find him there. He settled in and waited.

Dolenloteiel
07-08-2003, 10:07 PM
Astarien awoke the next day with Elrond standing just inside her doorway. "Echuivo' Astarien..." He said somewhat sternly as Astarien pushed herself into a sitting position. "A govanneth or nin samb. Le 'na baur. Ego!" With that her Father left the room.

Later that morning, dressed in her hunting tunic, Astarien came to the Council Chambers to which her Father had summoned her. She sat in a chair and made herself comfortable. She dipped her head in greeting to her Father, before turning her attention to the others in the Council Rooms.

Silme, Rorin and Kalile walk into a large room with many people seated down. Silme's heart lifted as she saw Dreran and the two "Love Birds" among all the others.

Aewionen watched everyone head in one direction and because of her curiosity, she followed. I wonder where they are heading? She soon saw that they were headed towards where Elrond held his councils.

Three elves and a dwarf entered the council room last, and Elrond bade them take their seats. Naerly all the chairs have been filled...I wonder what Ada needs me here for... She settled comfortably in the High-backed-three-legged chairs, ready for anything - well - almost anything.

Rorin sat down in the Council Room. Darn elf chairs, he thought as his feet dangled off the end of the chair. He watched as Elrond entered the room in his dress-looking robe thingy. He chuckled to himslef at how some elven men dressed like women.

Aewionen decided that if her ears were not meant to hear what Lord Elrond was going to say, it best be that she not hear them. She sat down and leaned against a tree and let the sun shine upon her face. After a while, Aewionen felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and saw that it was a man, clad in a black cloak. "Who are you," she demanded. The man made no answer, "Tell me," she said angrily, "Who are you?" The man mumbled,"You will know soon enough, look upon my face, do not forget it," With that, the man showed Aewionen his face. After she looked at it for a while, he put his hood back over his face and left. Aewionen didn't follow, she didn't say a word. The face she had seen had been one that had haunted her dreams recently. After she watched the man dissapear into the woods, she sat back down and waited, not patiently, for the council to end.

"we are all hear because Larien, Maiden of the Third House, sumond me to council. Silme, you have some quest? Now is the time to share it."Sid Elrond. Silme stood up, trembling. How could she know? She thought. "I came here by chance. Not knowing what drew me to this place. But now I know. I need help, as much help as I can get. Some of you may not know me. I am Silme, daughter of Perheled, King of Vinyalammen. Years ago, my fathers people left because a great shadow came over the land, many died because orcs and goblins made caves by my village, one of those who died was my father, when he atempted to rid us of the orcs, he was stabed through the heart. Now I am in charge of the land, I had to flee for my own life. I hid in Mirkwood. Now, I am strong enough to fight back for my land." She said.

A tall elf was sitting next to Elrond. She was gracefull and was sitting beside Elrond. She had Dark hair, with a thin circlet of silver around her head. She was thin as a willow wand, wore a pair of long pants, soft elven shoes, and a sleeveless shirt wich cut off at her midriff, all of which were all the colors of tthe forest. She Gave a small gasp of surprise when Kalile walked in. She whispered something to Elrond, then walked over to her.
"Kalile, my friend where have you been?"
"Ivy?" said kalile surprised. "I havent seen you since you left Mirkwood!"

Kalile

Ooc: What, she dresses in green and brown at a high council? I was thinking a shirt of sky blue film, with long, floaty sleeves that show just enough of your arms and stomache through the fabric, with leggings of the same color, of silk. These would have kimono style prints of clouds. Add a touch of stardust, soft leather slippers, and you've got a high council member. :p

Ic: "It has been long," she answered, with a look that promised a proper reunion later.

Dreran the Green
07-10-2003, 09:31 AM
Dreran gazed intently upon the different council members she had yet to meet. All of them seemed to be thinking about what Silme had said. She wondered how many would join her quest, then quietly contemplated whether or not she would go. I have nothing else I need to do. Another adventure would be good.
She did not speak at the moment, but made up her mind that she would join the quest.

No one spoke after she said what she had to do. She looked woried now. "Dreran, please com. And Rorin, I came to you personaly." She said. she felt like nobody cared about her beutiful land, that they would just let it go to ruins. She had to sit down before her legs gave out. She kept her head down in shame.

Dreran sighed. " I was going to come, Silme, don't worry. I was just waiting for some of these others to make up their minds before speaking" She gave meaning glances to some of the others who still looked undecided

Astarien sat in silence, pondering, after the maiden had spoken. She still didn't know why Elrond had summoned her, but she decided it was time to act. Astarien stood and looked around the room. "I should have spoken sooner... your land is taken over, and I applaud you for attempting to liberate your Father's land." She bowed to Silme. "I know if that plague came upon this place, I would do the same." She made eye contact with her Father before continuing. "If you would have me, I'd gladly join you and your purpose, evil shall not be allowed to endure, therefore, with your permission, I'll accompany you, and see that your land is liberated." Astarien bowed again, and sent a smiled towards Silme, before she sat back down.

After sitting for a while under the tree, Aewionen got up and started to walk towards the wood, away from Rivendell. I need to find out who that man was, and why he came to me. Soon, she saw the same dark figure and she walked up to him. The man turned and before she could say a thing, he said, "I will not tell you my name but I will tell you why I came to you, but you must come with me." At the sound of his cold voice Aewionen tried to back away, but she couldn't move. The man had grabbed her, "I insist, come." All she could say was a small. whispered, "No." "Alright," he said, his voice getting colder and darker, "But I cannot let you tell anyone about our meetings. Or your dreams." With that, slit her throat and walked off.

Aewionen awoke with a jolt. She had been asleep and had not left the tree. She got up and started for the council room. When she got there, Aewionen waited outside till it had finished.

Kalile
07-11-2003, 04:19 PM
Ic: Kalile rose to her feet as well. Elrond gave her a warning glance. "We need you here!"
Kalile nevertheless spoke, loudly and clear as the silver pipes bards use. "I have known how it is to be the only one free from a land in peril. I will go with you, even if I have to fight my way out of here." She sat down again in the silence that followed, slightly pink, next to a sulky Elrond.

Ic: Kalile waited.... and waited...
and waited for someone to come and get her, pacing and practicing juggling and swordfighting. Finally, a knock came on her door. Unfortunately, it was Elrond.
"You need to stay here and help us. We need a windwalker."
"I already decided that I'm going," Kalile said vehemently,"and I am."
Elrond sighed. "Fine. But you can't be gone longer than 10 days. And you need to take someone with you."
Kalile put her hands on her hips. "I am disinclined to aquiesce to your demands."
At Elrond's blank look, she added,"That means no."
(Okay, how many of you besides me actually knew what that meant? Honestly.)
After the half-elf left, Kalile sighed. She knew that he just wanted to keep an eye on her. People feared the power of the Windwalkers.

"Time to go" She told herself. It was a fair day with a strong wind that blew her hair around as she walked through Rivendell. When she reached the gates she saw some of the others and joined them.
