i was wondering, would a squib be able to go to Hogworts. I know he cant learn any charms, or magical stuff, but they could learn potions and herbology and about magical creatures. Just wondering what others think

I think they might have a special summer course for squib kids, and if they get past about three years of that, the 3 years before they turn 11, they could go to Hogwarts, btu that's just a theory I found floating around, tho it was like that room Dumbledor found when he was going to the bathroom late one night, it stays in your memory but you can't find it again. I couldn't find that info even after I pressed the back button

I'm not sure about actually being a student there, but there is at least one Squib at Hogwarts -- Argus Filch.

I'm not sure if a squib could go to Hogwarts. This is not quotes from the book, just what I remember so I could be wrong. I think in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Neville spoke about his family being concerned about him having magic. And when he was shown to have magic ability, his family was then concerned that he may not have enough to get into a school. But, then this brings up the question where do squibs go to school? Are there schools like Hogwarts only for squibs? How hard would it be for squibs, wizards, and witches to attend the same school? Would they even want to?
Edited to add the following since my evil computer is EVIL and erased this last night.
If squibs could attend Hogwarts, wouldn’t the curriculum have to change? When Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the others from their class arrived at Hogwarts for their first year I don’t believe any of them were allowed to choose what classes they could take. Magic ability was needed for some of their classes. Also, wouldn’t the whole O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. system have to change too since those exams also involve magical ability?
Or, there would have to probably be two curriculums for those with and without magic. And then you’d have to have classes on equality regardless of how much magical ability you have or, classes on not taking advantage of those without magic.
I am overthinking this.

the problem with squibs is theyre easy pickings. if they were allowed into school, they might want to hide the idea that they are a squib. sooner or later someone whould figure out the reason that that person isnt attending certain classes (like charms and transfiguration). then everyone would make fun of them. if there was a squib attending hogwarts, he or she would have to withstand verbal and magical abuse.
ack my brain hurts.

What would be the point of a squib attending Hogwarts or any other Wizarding school?
Squibs are just like muggles - they are regular humans who cannot do magic at all EXCEPT for the fact that they were born into Wizarding families with the knowledge of the Wizarding World.
The only class at Hogwarts they could take would be what, History of Magic? :P

They could take History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Arithmancy, Astronomy, Muggle Studies, and maybe Divination. And they can play Quidditch.

Done, for the 9 millionth time.
And they would have to take the Slytherins abuse if they went during the regular school year.

Just have a question... maybe nobody else thought this: do squibs have some strange connection with cats? I mean, Filch has Mrs. Norris and she's always supposedly "reporting" to him or whatever, and apparently Mrs. Figg has a bunch of cats. Just a thought...

Hm, maybe you're right. Hey, maybe Mr. Tibbles and Mrs. Norris should get together!:D

The thing is, squibs are still part of the wizarding world (think of Arabella Figg; Argus Filch). So one wonders where they learn enough to function properly. Squibs are rare; it could be that there just doesn't happen to be any in Hogwarts right now.

Is Mrs. Norris married? :D

Wouldn't you need magical ability to fly a broomstick?

Don't think so. Squibs DO have a small amount of magical ability, so they can ride a broom if they want to. And let's face it, who wouldn't want to? :D

no they don't. a lot of the things mentioned in this topic do require at least SOME magical ability and/or spells and stuff.
where do you get the impression that squibs have some magical ability? MAYBE there are varying degrees of squibs, but from what the book tells us, squibs are ppl born into wizarding families WITHOUT ANY magical ability.
correct me if im wrong. :p

I think HOBBIT is right. Squibs don't learn at Hogwarts. Neville's grandmother wasn't sure if he'll learn in Hogwarts 'cause he doesn't have eough magic (=he's almost a squib) - meaning squibs don't learn at Hogwarts.
