Have you ever experienced those scary theater moments in the Lord of the Rings that make you jump out of your seat? I can pick out two that I remember quite vividly.
1) Black Rider jumping out from behind trees and chasing hobbits
2) Cave troll scaring Frodo in Moria
Sometimes when you watch it again and you know it's going to happen, it's all the more dreadful. Were there any more scary moments in the Two Towers maybe that I might have missed?

That Cave Troll makes me jump every time ... although I already know that he will be there.

The first time Sauron's eye showed on screen in Fellowship Of The Ring: Gandalf was reaching down to pick up the Ring after Bilbo had left it. That stunned me. I remember listening on the extended DVD and hearing that this happened to Dominic Monaghan when he saw it also.
Fellowship Of The Ring was a very suspenseful movie, with plenty of frightening instances like the cave troll, black rider, etc.; the Two Towers didn't seem that way at all.

How about in TTT when that orc that chases Pippin and Merry into the woods jumps out?

I remember the Cave troll sence (when he scares Frodo) and the time when Gandalf tried to pcik up the ring in Bag End scared me teh first few times.

In FotR: Bilbo's freak-out episode at Rivendell always makes me jump, as did the first few times I saw Sauron's eye. In TTT: the orc chasing Merry and Pippin into Fangorn, and I know there's something else, but it's not coming to me right now.

When Gandalf went to pick up the Ring in Bag End, the cave troll, and when Bilbo saw the Ring in Rivendell and spazzed out. That freaked me out and made me jump a little the first time.

In FOTR: When Bilbo freaks in Rivendell; when the cave-troll attacks Frodo; and when Nazgul come out of nowhere when the hobbits are running to Buckleberry Ferry.
In TTT: Definitely the orc chasing Merry and Pippin; I can't remeber the others very well because I've only seen it, sadly, once, oh, well...can't wait for the extended DVD!

I think the other one in TTT we're all thinking of is something to do w/ Gollum. I'm not sure, maybe when he leaps up to Frodo with the coneys?

I thought the part with Bilbo was great. Nothing else was really scary or surprised me. When Frodo pus on the Ring at Weathertop the Nazgul's faces are really twisted looking and cool but not really jump-out-of-the-seat scary.

Hey, was it or was it not a "brace of coneys," in the words of Sam Gamgee himself?:p ;)

The part with the Bilbo freak-out in Rivendell made me jump. I was expecting something and I thought I was ready for whatever it would be, then I relaxed, Bilbo spazzed, I jumped, there was laughter . . . at me. I no longer associate this scene with fright, only embarrassment.:)

I went and saw TT again last night--only the 2nd time for me. This time I went with my 6 oldest kids, ranging in age from 21 to 9 (yeah, as my bio states, I have almost as many kids as Samwise!).
Anyway, my 9-year-old said the scariest part for him was when Gollum attacked Sam and Frodo while they were sleeping (when they first got together). For me the scariest in TT was when Frodo fell in the Dead Marsh and all those creepy corpses started grabbing for him! I noticed my 9-year-old son had his eyes covered then too!
He slept OK last night anyway!

The flashes of Sauron's Eye always made me jump. And the part when Bilbo freaks out in Rivendell too.
I don't think I was that scared in TT.

Then the scary part was with the eye.....when Gendalf touvhed the ring for the first time!:)
And with Bilbo in the Rivendell!:)Realy scary....
But first I watched to movie.....from the begining to the end without stopping....it was really cool....and I kind of like was there....took the part of the adventure!:)(Sorry with being so honest with you people:rolleyes: )
[COLOR=green]P.S....I love the Dark riders!:)The are so mystic!:D

The bits most people have already mentioned, but also in the Inn at Bree when the Nazgul stab down and the Hobbits are suddenly shown waking up as if they have been stabbed. Even though I knew that they weren't found by the Nazgul and guessed that it was going to be a 'film trick', I still jumped the first time I saw it (and, if memory serves, the second time):o !

There were only two parts in FOTR where I screamed: When the Nazgul jump out at the hobbits with that awful screech, and when the troll scares Frodo in Moria.
I jumped when Bilbo turns into the creature in Rivendell (I don't think it was a goblin. It was more of a gollum like creature.), and when the eye of Sauron revels itself to Gandalf in Bag End (just as he's about to pick up the Ring) and when he flings the cloth over the Palantir.
Other then that the other parts gave me delightful shivers. I think that I jumped when Sam and Frodo grab Gollum in TTT, but it's all so dim now. *shrugs* My memory's not the best.
Cheers,
Sam.

FotR: When Bilbo freaked out at Rivendell and when the Nazgul suddenly popped out when the hobbits were going to the Buckleberry Ferry.
TTT: the orc that was chasing Merry and Pippin. And when Frodo fell in the Dead Marshes.
