Please help me. I need the description of Fëanor and his sons, before they left Valinor, for a picture.
I already looked into the archive and used search, but did'nt found more, than I already knew:
That Fëanor and most of his sons had dark hair, except Maedhros, Amrod and Amras, which had red-brown hair. And I know, that Maedhros usually wore a copper circlet. And I have the description of the banner of Fëanor.
But I haven't read the hole HoME (till now ;) ).
So for those of you, who remember more descriptions from Tolkien-books.
I need everything you remember, color of clothing or horses, if mentioned, and every other detail.
I hope, you will help me.
Tanks.

I know that Feanor had black hair...and I think that MAedhros and Curufin looked alot like him.

Feanor had raven black hair, as did Curufin, who was pretty much a carbon copy of his father. We can assume Maglor was dark haired too. Maedhros, Amrod and Amras were all red-brown haired, whch they got from their mother Nerdanel, Caranthir's Quenya mother-name was 'Carnistir' meaning red-face, he was said to have dark brown hair and the ruddy (redish) complexion of Nerdanel. Celegorm was named 'Turkafinwe' by his father (Strong Finwe) which shows quite a lot of promise for all you ladies out there ;) but even more 'promising' was Maedhros's mother name, Maitimio 'one of beautiful bodily form'. Now if THAT doesn't send your heart beat racing...Oh and I assume they were all handsome.

If you are interested in their personalities as well as their appearance, you should get your hands on HoME 12 - The Peoples of Middle Earth, and read The Shibboleth. There's a lot of material to work with in there.
I think Maitimo's epessë - Russandol - sounds so cute. :D

I already read the Peoples of Middle-earth (several times), there is no more information about the appearance of them, and there is less information in the Sil.
That's why I thought some of you may remember descriptions in other book.
Anyway, thank for trying to help. :)
So I can use my own fantasy, while painting. :D

I will, I promise, but I still need some time, cause I'm painting in oil.
But I've already painted the background and now I try my vision of Tuna, and then I'm going to paint the people and their horses in the front of the picture.

OK, this is not the picture I intended to paint, when I made this topic.
That picture is still in work.
Please belief me, I'm much better in oilpaintings.
But today I grabbed my water colours and this was one outcome: Feanorian Oath (http://people.freenet.de/d.bolz-fritzlar/Oath_small.JPG)
I know it should be darker and in Tirion, but I wanted to share anyway.

I like it. It captures the spirit of the moment of the Oath. Fëanor
has a perfectly daemonic glare.:)

Thanks for sharing. :) I too like the look of Fëanor's face.

Celegorm: "golden was his long hair" (Quenta Silmarillion, HoMe vol 5)
The sons from left to right in the picture:
Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Curufin, Amrod & Amras (or the other way around ;) ) and Caranthir
