The tradeshop in medievia was silent as tahquamenon loaded up his covered wagon .... no evil sounds in the night he thought to himself ..... he had heard that Derah Villadom was in dire need of supplies and he smiled at the thought of the payout at the end of the road

"Are you done?" a short elf (Kalile) stepped into the torch-light, and it glinted off her short gold hair.
"The other wagons are almost ready, and we ought to be going too."

Tahquamenon answered only with a nod -- he was revieiwing his supplies in his mind and checking over his equipment (I hope the demon lord has more important things to do over the next few days than steal our freights) Patting his clear magical jar full of invisbility wands he took one out and handed one to Kalile with a wave of the wands they were invisible along with their freight (to most eyes that is) and they set off north of Castle Medievia along the road ... a checkpoint loomed in the distance where Tahquamenon knew would be a guide to tell them the safe paths to take ........

'something is not right' said tahquamenon as they moved west toward derah villadom - I'm going to see whats going on in these woods. After a quick blessing and armor spell from kalile Tahquamenon wielded his Dagger of venom in his right hand and a blue stilleto in his left and disappeared into the trees..... Kalile casted a Shield Room spell over the area and sat down with the covered wagons to meditae and revive her magical powers .....

Azoginor the Demon Lord observed the elf resting by the fire and his eyes glowed with delight not only at the slaughter of these two foolish trade runners but at the valuable cargo which would bring greater wealth................. his crystal orb flickered out and he began to chant words of dark summoning magic 5 spectral hounds appeard awaiting his commands .......... (feel free to add here :) )

"Go find the man," the demon lord instructed the hounds, and they loped off into the night. "it is almost morning," he said to himself,"I must work quickly." He spoke another word of magic, and took the guise of Tahquamenon. Soon he had his hand on the door, requesting permission to enter the shielded room.

Tahquamenon heard the howls off in the distance ... Spectral hounds he thought as he crept through the trees... The he felt a presence of evil coming from the direction of the freight A Demon Lord he though only one creature on the road make a traders blood freeze like that .... and then he thought Kalile!!!! he cursed himself for allowing her to take her first traderun to Derah Villadom but her enthusiasm persuaded him . his pace quickened

The hounds burst from the trees, snarling. They circled Tahquamenon, snarling.
The demon lord grew impatient. Kalile couldn't seem to hear him knocking. He supposed she must be meditating, and started to ready a spell that would inturupt her thoughts long enough to hear him.

OOC: Care for one more player?
Kalile
05-20-2003, 12:04 AM
Ooc: Er, I dunno, ask Tahquamenon. :) Or just post, like I did, and see what happens!
Ic: The spell was ready. With a few magic words and some complicated gestures, the Demon Lord found the energy source that was Kalile and made a small rip in one of the calm waves coming outward. At the same instant, he knocked on the door and called, "Kalilly? Are you there? I'm back!"
"Kalilly?" came the startled voice of someone coming abruptly back from odd things, only to find something unusual in their parlour, eating their luch.
"Er... Sorry, just being silly. Look at what I've found, and you'll agree that I have good reason to be happy."

Imharwen is comin in, I ve changed her a bit, she is a shape-shifter.
Imharwen interupped the conversation with a loud exclamation. She felt a searing pain and fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

The Shapeshifter quietly crept up behind the demon lord and uttered a spell to reveal his true form -- she knew that tahquamenon would not say Kaliley :P -- Kalile looked up to see the hideous demon lord at her shield door with the elven shapeshifter behind him (unknown to him) at this time Tahquamenon who had killed off the spectral hounds arrived at the campsite ----- now the demonlord had 3 to face instead of one -- this freight of goods was getting more costly too him - but his confidence overtook him -- surely nothing good could have any real power - he thought - and laughed a demonic laugh ...........

The shapeshifter threw a spell at the demon, and he blocked it easily. Even two at once were no match, and the demon lord laughed again. No sword or spell could hurt him now, when he was so concentrated! He easily swiped the shape shifter aside, exulting in his own glory. But he was not prepared for one thing.
Something slammed into his side like a cannonball, knocking him over. Kalile was on top of him, clawing and kicking madly. The demon was surprised, but not for long. The elf was hurting him, who had not felt pain in decades. He raised his clawed hand to strike...

...but suddenly Imharwen's spell hit him hard and he fell back. She then cast another spell to render him helpless. She conjured up ropes and tied him very roughly with them. She then noticed she had a nasty cut from her lower eyelid, to her jawline.
Kalile saw this and gasped, she said "Imharwen, let me fix that for you."

When Kalile had done the best she could, non magically, she turned to where the bound demon lord was, but he had disappeared. "Damn!" Kalile swore in frustration, "we should have known."

Now that the adrenaline was wearing off, Kalile was feeling the side effects of hurling oneself upon a demon lord. She winced as she turned to Tahquamenon. "We should hurry. Derah Villedom is in grave need of these supplies. Some of the other runners have promised to take a portion of their supplies and make the extra stop, but their hope really rests with us." She went and got her rug from the waystation. "I'll ready the wagon. Goodbye, strange one."
The elf turned back,"I would know your name ere we part, however, and your purpose in aiding us tonight. Not that I am ungrateful," she amended quickly,"but one can't be too careful."

" Maybe I could accompany you, as I have buisness to attend to, at the city. Any way, a shapeshifter is a very useful companion to have along, not much of a burden. Anyway my kind are few but skilled. May I accompany you on your quest?"

Ooc: Cool! Meetcha there, Sane!
Ic: Kalile repeated her request. "Will you at least state your name, and your reason for going with us?"
The shapeshifter, Kalile thought, wished to remain anonomous (sp?), but she was obstinate. "Your name and purpose, please."

"Oh, alright. My name is Imharwen Esslar. I was sent here to destroy the demon lord. Satisfied?"
Kalile
06-03-2003, 10:12 PM
"I suppose, though I would like to know who sent you, and how I know I can trust you, but there is no time for that." Kalile turned indiferently and loaded her things. As she jumped onto the cart with Tahquamenon, she turned back. "Coming?"
As day broke, they rode into the starving city. Every resident crowded the streets, watching the supply cart. All of them were painfully thin, and many were missing from the last time they had come.
"I don't understand. Another wagon is supposed to be here," Kalile said worriedly.
Someone nearby heard, and turned. "The other cart was found two days ago. It was burned beyond repair, and everything in it and around it was destroyed as well. We also found the drivers' bodies..." a shadow passed over the other's face. Kalile bent her head. A moment later, she exclaimed, "I know you...!"
The other was thin, ragged, with sunken eyes, but it was undoubtably...
Ooc: Your cue, Sane!

OOC: Good to see you. [again]
...Was undoubtedly Leah Mirzay, Kalile's partner and once rival warrior. She had snuck into the city once before with a wagon load of goods, once she tried to go back her wagon was burned and her brother killed in a raid. Somehow she managed to stay alive and reach the city. Waiting for a chance to get out and strike her revenge.
"I though you were back east!"
"Unfortunatly no, Fate has carried and left me here. what are you doing here?"
"besides the obvious?" Kalile smiled in spite of her friends situation.
"how are you going to make it back out?"
"on the main road...How else?"
"pah... Unless you want to sign your own death certificate i suggest you sneak through the wood. Less mercinaries."
"Mercinaries????"
"How else do you think the roads could be blocked so efficiently?? No way one group of bandits could do this alone. Hell This isnt even bandits work! far to orginized! someone more powerful is behind this"
Tahquamenon returned and did a double take when he saw Leah standing above Kalile. he unsheathed a sword.
"Who the bloody hell is that wraith???!"
Kalile

Kalile paused, then spoke slowly. "I know who's behind this. A Demon Lord."
Leah and Imharwen traced the sign against evil on their chests.
"A demon lord? Are you sure?"
Kalile swallowed before aswering. "We met with one on the road. I thought that this was just a random attack, but I now suspect that this was because they have joined forces. Only Demon Lords hold so much power, or the audacity to attack supply carts. They must be trying to blockade cities, one by one!"

"well, now that we know who's behind it... what do we do?" Imharwen piped up next to Kalile. That was the questionon every ones mind.
"I opt for a back door assult on the Demon lord. If two little elves could inflict that kind of damage right off the cuff. It ought to get a little easier when we have a plan!" I bursted out. Kalile and the others nodded in consent.
"But what abou the other cities?" Tahquamenon voiced my concern.
"well, we're just gona have to be quick abput it then. Arent we??" Imharwen retorted.

"We can figure out what to do when we've gotten out of the city," Kalile spoke up,"we're stuck here, remember?"

IC: Imharwen looked inside the pack she carried everywhere. She pulled out a dark green cloak." Are we ready to go now?"
