Hate them all -- their purpose is to convince people to buy things they don't need with money they don't have.:rolleyes: :mad:

Most commercials really are trash.
A lot of the best ones used to be on AdCritic.com - but that's no longer a free site.
A while ago I saw the reel of the Cannes Film Festival selections for the World's Best Commercials. A lot of them were very effective... some hilarious, some powerful, some better than most TV shows out there (though admittedly, television is virtually devoid of watchable content nowadays).

In general, I do't really like commercials becauseof the previously-mentioned reasons, but every now and then there's one that just makes me totally crack up!

There's one in Oz where a guy surfs down the street on a wheelie bin to retrieve his cold stubby from an opportunistic garbo. And one radio one where it's a mock competition where you can win a barium meal for two. Other than that, utter crap, but what is worse is the level of invasiveness, which for me is most annoying either in radio adverts (which I can't seem to ignore, so they grate) and internet advertising, which is the equivalent of making pate de fois gras. Are we thought to be that ignorant? Grr.....

One of those commercials that totally makes me crack up is that one for Dairy Queen where the two guys are holding the blizzards upside down and going, "Whoop, whoop, doo-a-doo..." Yeah. Stupid, I know, but so funny and I don't know why.
Someone mentioned Herbal Essences--->ick they're disturbing!:eek:

I don't see what's so bad about Herbal Essence adverts. The shampoos, right? I love the Coca Cola adverts - it's not Xmas until I see the Winter ones! The Gap Xmas adverts are funky too. But has anyone seen the Carphone Warehouse (i think) where there's a little mobil phone that gets lost and abandoned. it's so sad!! :(

Sorry, haven't seen it.
Actually, I've sort of given up TV and taken up posting on entmoot instead, so I haven't seen any of the newer commercials:D

I had to dig this up to ask if anyone else has seen the commercials for Red Stripe beer. ?
They're mostly on late at night, and there are many long variations of two Jamacian guys trying to sneak a sip of beer while on the air, by cutting to a picture of a Red Stripe souveneir and a too-fast talking announcer. The camera pans back to them with the bottle to their lips and they get aggrivated at each other and the announcer. In some of the variations, they start getting desperate and try to advertise one guy's mustache for sale. They're hilarious. Plus the slogan is simply "hooray beer!" in a Jamacian accent. Definately worth staying up late to catch.

I like the one the BBC has at the moment for the Olympics with the athelete taking on the gods (though I don't suppose they put more than two seconds thought into it - "hmm, Greece - must have gods") :D

My favorite commercial, currently, is an ad for some type of laptop computer and it's pitching it as a "back to school/college" deal.
A very bubbly, blonde, pink-clad girl is taking a box up to her dorm room, opens it up and sees her extremely gothic roommate. Comments like 'let's get some sunlight in here" and "I bet you're favorite color is black" just crack me up. My friends and I joke that it looks like a souped up version of my dorm room (I'm not gothic, but into darker colors, and my roommate is huge on pink).
