I have seen the legolas fangirls and aragorn fangirls i thought why not a gimli fan thread. Of course it can be fangirls which i bet there are tonnes of and fan boys for different obvious reasons. As john rhys davies said "... for real quality warfare you have to go for gimli!"

I do think JRD is a darn cool actor, and I loved the interviews with him on the TTT game (he was the only one who seemed to be interested at all...), but PJ screwed the character up too much for him to do much. :(

I would be Gimli´s fangirl but I don´t like his character in the movies (unlike the book) - if certain parts were a bit different, then you´d have at least one fangirl.. :D John Rhys-Davies was really good though!

Gimli was great in the movie, perhaps better than the books. And that says a lot because in the books he was already a great character.

i like the way he portrayed gimli, i thought it was the same as the book or not far off from it. . I love his interview in the game.

I know what you mean here. Trying to read TT is very hard if you want your own imagination to make up what the characters look like, rather than using the movie characters.

i think for the movie though they had to change some stuff around fo the people who hadn't read the books yet so they understand it. i understood it when i saw it and i hadn't read the books but when i saw TTT (i read the book before it) i thought what the hell are they doing but it was easier to understand for my friends who hadn't read the book

I know what you mean. I purposely read the books before seeing the movies so I wouldn't get mixed up like that. But now I'm finishing RotK and the pictures I have of the characters are the ones from the movies. Gaaghh! It's so frustrating...

But I liked Gimli as a comic relief. He didn't really change much, I thought is was one of the few good things PJ did.

One of my favourite bits that he is in is when Aragorn, Legolas *sigh* and him are tracking the Merry and Pippin, and Aragorn lays on the ground to work out whether anyone is close or not. He lays for so long Gimli believes that he has fallen asleep again or something. :D

I love Gimli! He's soo cute! My fave part aside from him a Legolas counting their killings in the books was in the movie with the whole "ur gonna have to toss me" bit. that was great. "o come on we can take 'em!" OOO. I LOVE HIM.

Gimli Rocks!!!! I'ts awesome how he is so ready for a fight. Even against overwhelming odds, he won't run away. I also think it's funny how he's so suspicious of strangers, espically elves. Sadly, in the movie he is mere comic relief. O well, you can't have it all, I guess.

I like Gimli. If it weren't for Legolas, he'd be my favourite LOTR movie character. He's funny and he's got those cool kick-ass axes. Go Gimli! :D
