does any1 else notice that gandalf has his own personalized way of speech-i mean the way he says "they passed this way on midsummers day if u want 2 no." (or something like that-can't remember) is so much like gandalf and even what he says... i mean maybe they can't reconize the sound, but... saruman wouldn't say that, AND he DEFINITLY wouldn't sound like that when he said it...

am i making any sense-i'm having difficulty getting my meaning/point across. :(

You're referring to the movie right? So this thread really belongs in the Lord of the Rings Movies Forum, not the Middle Earth Forum. Oh, and welcome to Entmoot (I see you're new here)!:)

Well met, my hobbit friend!

I sort of noticed that too. I LOVE the way he talks! His voice has this grandfatherly note to it when speaking with hobbits, but can be so....creepy at other times...like with poor Bilbo after the party. :)

I'm not getting my point across very well either.....this must be one of those unbreachable subjects...v.v. annoying.

If you figure out how to say it, let us know! This is gonna bug me for weks now. *walks off muttering* :mad ;)

I think he means that it doesn't make sense that they didn't recognise Gandalf when he returned in White at first.

I think the thread starter is refering to the movie, so I'm moving this there. What confuses me is, are you talking about Gandalf or Saurman? Do you mean that they sound alike? Saruman is the one that says that line you quoted.

I believe he is talking about in TT when Gandalf appears to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. And if he is then I agree that it is weird that Aragorn would not reconise Gandalf's manner of speech, more or less his voice. Saruman and Gandalf do have a different manner of speaking but maybe Aragorn didn't know enuff about Saruman to tell.
I have not seen TT for a while but I do think I remember Gandalf's voice sounding like Saruman's when he first began to speek. But I could be wrong on that.
