Lockhart is annoying- but it's fun to imagine a really good actor playing the part (so long as the part is written well- they screwed up the lines in the movie- he wasn't an amusing character at all.)

I love Snape! Not entirely sure why.... I guess because he's kind of an anti-hero, he's sort of evil but fights for the side of good underneath it all. (That was confusing, sorry. :rolleyes: ) Anyway, his character is really cool, and Alan Rickman does an excellent job portraying him in the movies.

Harry Potter is a close second. You've gotta love him. ;)

And Fred and George, and Hedwig tie for third. :D

I liked Kenneth Branaugh as Gilderoy, but I thought they could have given him better lines and more...he's so great, but he was funnier in the book!

Lucius Malfoy was incredible in the movie, too, but overall my fave characters are

Ron, Hagrid, Hermione, Harry, Professor McGonagall (who reminds me of my english prof), and Dumbledore

I'm still ticked about re: NO PEEVES in the movie.

My favorite character of all is Ron. He reminds me of me.

My favorite wannabe-villian (because he really isn't much of a villian -- yet) is Draco because of those moments of hatred where I wished he was real just so I could sock him a tough one, but that's what makes me love him.

My favorite group of friends is the Mauraders. I adore 'em!

Sirius and Lupin are my favorite adult characters.

I love Harry Potter as well. There's too many reasons to plot them all out, though. :)

How is the name Hermione pronounced? (I have never read the books or seen the movies) I thought it was
her-mee-OWN or HER-mee-own, but my sister-in-law and mother-in-law said it's her-MOY-nee, because that's how it was pronounced on the books on tape. I like the name, but I prefer it the way I thought it was, it just sounds prettier. It was odd to me that although it is spelled "io" the sound would be "oy.":confused:

Oh, that's pretty -- I figured the e at the end is pronounced after reading someone's misspelling of the name (that's what reminded me of the question). I realized why I thought it was pronounced the way I thought -- because of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream. But I like it the way you say it. (herMOYnee reminds me of the word "moile." Eeew;) ).

Edit: Aha! I just realized why they thought it was OY! It is herMYonee, but on the book on tape I bet it is a Brit reading, and they'd have that oyish sound as they said the "my" sound! So to the ears of Americans it would sound like that. A mystery solved!;)

Dumbledor is by far and away the second best character. I quite like Ginny Weasley in this book seems a bit more like Fred and George (which aint a bad thing)! She just seems real sorted out. Snape is a facinating Character as well you just cannot make your mind up about him. Find Voldermort a bit of a 1 dimensional bad guy sure hes evil an all but why is he evil? Umbridge was very good beacuse i was very intrested in her motivation! i dont like Hadgrid at all!

But after reading book 5 i have to admit that my faviorate character of the whole thing is Neville Longbottom. You really feel his pain in that book and understand his motivations. His perents what happened to them been worse than death hes the plucky loser that will come good in the end i hope in book six it been all out in the open an all Neville get some god damn respect his words to Harry never give up very good

Sirius was my favourite character in it, I was GUTTED when he was killed off in OOTP. Severus Snape, however is by far the most interesting character in the series, and I can't wait to find out his story, as I'm sure we will sooner or later. Which side will he come down on? I want to know about his past. It sounds like he's been to some pretty dark places in his time.

Liked Luna Lovegood out of all the new characters, bless her. There's obviously more to Luna than meets the eye, she's not had an easy time of it, like Harry. I hope she and Harry end up together, they'd be a lot better suited than he and Cho.
