View Full Version : What does Sauron do all day?

Did you ever wonder that? Its a strange thing to think about, isn't it? I mean, when he isn't planning his invasions, and sending Orc legions to their dooms, what is he doing? Does he just sit up there in Barad-dur brooding? That must be a little boring, even for a Maia. So, what does Sauron do all day?

i think he uses the Palantir to watch Star Wars and learn from Vader and the Emperor :p

And he probably keeps a slave or two around to torture when he doesn't know what else to do.
Maybe he plays chess with the Lieutenant of Barad-dur (who of course has to let da boss man win)...

He might not have that much time left from the orcs and other creatures. It seems that he controls them (at least in battle) and would have to keep doing so. (see the battle at the Gate (LOTR) when he dies)

I think he just sits around picking his nose.
Remember Stimpy's magic nose goblin collection?
Evil Maia boogers make nasty cannonballs ;)

Probably just sits around staring at everyone and pronouncing evil judgements. Can't imagine him doing much else.

I believe he sits around and writes screenplays for Kevin Costner movies...what better way to torture us long after he is gone.....

And when he doesn't know what else to do he sits around and listens to his children sing. He has lots of them: Brittany, Celine, Christina, the Spice Girls, 'N Sync, the Backstreet Boys.... It just goes on and on.

Maybe he plays role-playing games. Or write books like "the Keraethon Cycle".

LOL !
in a slightly different vein ,Galadriel mentions that S. is always tring to know her mind ,but that it is closed to him.
this is the skill of Osanwe-Kenta , an essay of which [by JRRT] was published in the journal Vinyar Tengwar
it was left out of the War of the Jewels , but describes in facinating detail the limitations and ability of Men ,Elves and Maiar/Valar to communicate via thought , w/ reference to how Morgoth abused it .
Some of what is said about M. could I suppose be applied to Sauron.
the Elves[the nobles at leaast] and the Maia and Vala, seemed to spend a faior bit of tome meditating [if you will] and extending their mind out to the rest of Middle-Earth to get a feel for things.
Arwen wathching over Aragorn w/ her mind,
Elrond saying that as he 'looks' south he can see little because all is under the shadow, and is thus dark to him. Galadriel , on the other hand claimed she knew Sauron'es mind -as far as it concerned Elves at least. And so seemingly was not occluded by the Shadow.
there is a threadon this at the downs . and lots more to say .

I suppose this means Gandalf is "uncloaked" to Galadriel, and Galadriel and Elrond are likewise "uncloaked" to other Elven-ring bearers...
Who's the dummy who said Gandalf threatened to flash Frodo and Gollum ("see Gandalf uncloaked") ? Ghaaa....
What does Frodo do all day in Aman I wonder?
