What did everyone think of Andy Serkis as Gollum. I thought his performance was awesome, and a better way of having gollum than the cartoons version of him.

I thought Andy Serkis was admirable as Gollum. He was very expressive and dedicated.
I, for one, did not enjoy his interpretation of the "gollum" sound Gollum was known for. I would've thought it was more of a swallow than a cough. Oh, well.

I thought he did a great job. Its kind of interesting though- the whole time they were filming he was there yet you never actually see him. I agree with Celebriel about the 'gollum' sound though. But I loved the way he changed his voice for Smeagol/Gollum.

my favorite scene was when he argudewith himself, it was hilarious. It is also cool how he was actuall on set the whole time and then had to do everything again in a studio.

That guy did a pretty good job, cause he was really crazy and worked hard.

Also, he got his gollum sound from his cat.

But say "gollum", doesn't it sound more like a swallow than a cough?

Yah, it does sound like a cough, but overall he did a great job, and he probably interperated it (the sound) differently than you did.

I wonder how other fans interpreted it. I read somewhere that PJ was uncomfortable with some things Andy did.

I feel sorry for him, he had to wear a skin tight suit in the cold. Poor guy

Also, that scene where he chases the fish. The water was ice-cold (refer to the WB's "Return to Middle-Earth").
I am leaving now. Namaarie.

Brrr! That must have been awful! What, didn't they do like 4 different takes of that?
Anyway, I agree with Celebriel. More of a swallow or gulp than a cough, I would think.

he was brillient! Apparently, Andy Serkis discribed Gollum as an adict, he's addicted to the ring, even though Tolkien didn't have adicts in mind...
definatly a swallow, not cough

Awesome job! Exactly how I pictured him, Andy was Gollum.
"gollum" does sound like a swallow, is it supposed to be a cough?
I love all his scenes especially the debate scene.

The debate scene was hilarious. And everyone interpretes things differently.

I think he was did the best job of portaying his character out of the entire cast.

I dunno... Alot of the other characters did really good, take Ian Mckellan for instance.
Did I spell his name wrong?

Yah, but Andy had to do way more work because he was on set, and then in a studio doing everything again.
