For any who play games with minis (such as Warhammer), Games Workshop has gotten the rights to produce a game in conjuction with the movies being released, with different supplements for the game and different models coming out with each of the three movies.

Fascinating. It would have been cooler though had it been based on the books (boo-hoo).

It is, in a way - certain characters actually have 'fate' points in the game, which can save them from death. How many depends on how much of the book they got to - basically their way of saying "I didn't die here, yet!" Most of the characters get a couple of these, while some, like Boromir, have none. (They even have a model showing Boromir's death scene.)

It will basically allow people to try and play either the fellowship fighting their way towards mordor, or the armies of darkness trying to stop them. That will be the first game at least (they have three different versions coming out, one for each book, in conjunction with the movies.) The second will have more of a good army vs evil army situation, to fit the Helms Deep and other such events in the Two Towers. And so forth.
