Anybody know whathappened to Maglor? Last you hear of him in Silmarillion is that he's singing in "grief and pain" beside the Sea. Anybody know what happened to him after that? Just a question.

No word, really. In the Peoples of Middle-earth in a passage about Galadriel there seems to be something (I'm working from memory) that speaks of him or the sons of Faenor in past tense, so maybe he died sometime in the Third Age, I don't know. He's largely a mystery.

I have this odd notion that he lingered on Middle-earth's shores until he faded away, but his spirit lingers still in Middle Earth.

Since Lune is the last bit of Beleriand left intact, it may be that if you stand on the shores of the Lune, you may still hear the (disembodied?) voice of Maglor singing his regret amid the sound of the waves.... creepy but so sad at the same time.

He wandered the shores singing mournfully. But after that? None know.

I just found in the "Lay of Leithian":

"
No other player has there been,
no other lips or fingers seen
so skilled, 'tis said in elven-lore,
save Maglor son of Feanor,
forgotten harper, singer doomed,
who young when Laurelin yet bloomed
to endless lamentation passed
and in the tombless sea was cast.
"

Apparently the poor guy jumped in the Sea and drownded himself.....

What part of Lay of Leithian was it? I want to look that up.
