Hello Everyone!

I heard a little while ago that there were 4 Tolkien LPs published. 1 Hobbit/Fellowship, 1 Two Towers/RotK, one Songs and Poems, and one Silmarillion read by Christopher Tolkien. I have found copies of the former 3, but I have yet to track down the Silmarillion LP.

I was wondering if anyone happens to know the exact title of it (It's easy to search for "Reads and sings" in various engines) or a digital image of the LP?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Juntel has the Sil, and is in the middle of making an MP3 of it, I believe (or something like that). Hopefully he will see this thread and let you know where you can access it. I do know that his plan was to make it available to members of Entmoot.

LOL!! (I am sorry.....really.)

An LP (stands for: long playing....there is also EP which is extended play....but I don't really know the difference) is another name for a "record" or "album", you know, the things that you play on a "record player" or "turn table". Nowadays they are refered to as "CDs". Ask you parents about them, they probably have some lying around the house. ;)

My mother teaches pre-school and the kids come in and ask what the "record player" is. Ack! I can't believe this!

At any rate, thanks for the info on the MP3, that would be grand, but, of course, I'd like to get a copy of the LP too for my own collection. :)

I'd love a copy too. I hadn't heard that there was a Sil recording.

Now all we need is for Juntel to show up and give us his status.

It's become sort of common for people to not know what the phonograh and record player are. Imagine if someday we'll be telling our kids "CD's were an early form of MP3's" ;)

Refreshing of the topic for informational purposes.

RE: I heard a little while ago that there were 4 Tolkien LPs published. 1 Hobbit/Fellowship, 1 Two Towers/RotK, one Songs and Poems, and one Silmarillion read by Christopher Tolkien. I have found copies of the former 3, but I have yet to track down the Silmarillion LP.

These are available from Caedmon (HarperCollins Audio).

It consists of the 4 segments you mentioned, with the portion of the Silmarillion read by Christopher Tolkien being 'Of Beren and Luthien'.

The Tolkien Audio Collection (cassette versions).
ISBN: 1-55994-675-X

LP versions will be difficult to locate. I'd suggest keeping an eye on ebay or other auction site.
