why is tom so apathetic? he cares enough to save them from the tree but he can't be bothered to have a sit down with sauron and tell him to quit acting up?:p

I think his life consists only of grass and worrieless days. He doesn't understand importance. He only has power within his land. Besides, if gandalf couldn't stop Sauron, I don't think Tom Bombadil could.

Bright blue is his jacket and his boots are yellow!

Quite the reverse, it is Tom Bombadil who Sauron wants to destroy. All he has to do is EXIST and it's enough. When you understand Tom, it will all make sense.

Excatly, Elfhelm. If you want to read why Tom didn't help the fellowship, it talks about it in(wonder of wonders!) the FotR. Try reading it. It's a great book:D
