I think I got about half way through before I said "forget about it"! It was worse than the first chapter of the Silmarillion! :D

I've read through bits and pieces of this book, and I understand what I read, though I haven't retained much. He leaves out all the math, so it isn't so daunting to me. Words I can handle, numbers I can't.

Really? I thought it was rather too simplistic.
He barely touched on any of the science. It felt like I was reading a book made for two year olds. (present company excepted, of course).

Wayfarer....
I haven't heard of this. Is it similar to A Brief History of Time? I really liked that book. Who's the author of this nutshell thing?

Stephen Hawking put it all together.
It basically explains some of the universe, y'know, black-holes, 5th dimensions, time travel into the future and past, that type of thing.

The thing that bugged me is that hawking simply repeats the history of the theory up to this date, and then adds his own spin on it. It seemed a little to much like self-aggredizement for my liking. And honestly, it whas less than two hundred pages long. That's not much content.
My main dislike stems from the fact that it's just the basics. I know about everything that blackboar listed, and have for years. I don't need someone like hawking to hold my hand and walk me through the simple stuff.
I would suggest instead that you read Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's Outrageous Legacy by Kip S. Thorne (with bits by Hawking). It's much more comprehensive and very enlightening.
