To me, personally, I expected more from the familiar character, Faramir, brother of Boromir, son of Denethor. I had previously seen various portraits of Faramir, and it would seem that he had a much different personality than Boromir. That was not so, it seemed, in the movie. Faramir harbored a personality that more alike to Boromir than how the book portrayed his character. He was, though, drawn into the power of the Ring, but to some extent he welcomed Frodo and Sam and eventually, after making quick and reliable friends, he let them go [also after he offered them food for their trip]. I would have expected Faramir to have more of a personality of his own, but in the movie he seemed a bit "out of the picture" and almost afraid and not enough valiant. I mean, come on! This guy is brother to Boromir and is son of a King! I'll be looking forward to seeing him fight in the Return of the King. Most likely they'll have him being chased down by a Nazgul and hiding in the trenches. :p
