Selwythe

I finally got the opportunity to watch the Special Extended version of the FotR DVD and burned away three (and a half) hours of my time last Sunday. I really appreciated how Lothlorien played a larger role than "stop by, look at mirror, haul @$$", how Celeborn actually has cool speaking parts (but is still stupid anyway), and how Haldir mentioned Lord keleborn. If that pronounciation note had made it into the final cut, it would have spared me a lot of jarring phonetic noises yesterday hearing somebody crap on about Seleborn.
Anyway, I couldn't help goggling at the added scene of Galadriel's gifts.
(rough presentation of that scene)
"And what can I give to a Dwarf?"
"Nothing, except one last look at the fairest........."
Galadriel giggles. Gimli is embarrassed
"Actually, there is one thing...nah, it's stupid (it's dirty...)"
Then the scene quickly cuts to the Anduin, but make no mistake, it is WORK OF THE CENSORS! Note that the next image shows Gimli staring ahead, glassy-eyed, obviously immersed in some fantasy.
They did clear up any lingering questions and doubts with Gimli telling Legolas how she gave him three hairs, but they never clarified in the movie what Gimli was going to do with those strands of hair, eh?
:o
And back in December 2001 when I was watching the theatrical version, my friend observantly pointed out to me that the Phial of EƤrendil/Galadriel looks very much like a....well......
