When Gimli, Aragorn, and Legolas meet Gandalf again in Fangorn Forest, and Gandalf first speaks to them, isn't that the voice of Saruman?

I think they have both voices mixed together.

I think they have both voices mixed together. Yeah. It sounds like Saruman, and then subtlely turns into Gandalf's voice.

I wonder if they did it with sound effects or if McKellan imitated Lee's voice. I guess we'll know when we hear the cast commentary.

That would make sense. Either that or they uesd Sarumon's voice, the Gandalfs voice(remember, you can't really see his face, let alone his mouth at first)

It seemed like at first they used two voices and combined them... not blended in to one new voice cuz you could hear the two seperately.... and then saruman's sort of faded. sounds like the method people use to voice God in all the christian movies.... hehe....

I don't know why they bothered; they let the proverbial cat out of the bag when they showed Gandalf in the trailers.

Perhaps it was done to show whose voice Gimli, Aragorn and Legolas expected to hear to begin with, and then the voice would gradually become Gandalf's as they slowly realized the truth.

I didn't notice that it sounded like Saurumans voice at the beggining and then turned to Gandalfs. I thought that he was just trying to make his voice sound freaky so that they would think it was Sauruman. shows how much I know. Must listen for voice change at my next viewing.

i agree with BoP, about the trailer.

i think that they should have don'e one or the other, the effect with the voice in the movie, or the trailer. with both of them done it makes both of them look stupid and unnessescary. (sorry that my repitition is so redundant.) :D

I agree with BoP. In the trailer, they show the part where Gandalf says: "I come back to you at the turn of the tide", and before that they show the three comrads and Legolas kneeling, so useing the Saruman voice was worthless in the movie.

I never thought of that. To much can be shown in a two-minute preview:)
