View Full Version : By popular demand, what I DID LIKE about Fellowship!

Sure, I'm a purist, and one who considers the reading and study of J.R.R. Tolkien's works to be a wondrous adventure held very closely to my heart. SO yes, I was pissed off about the movie, and cannot seem to watch it all the way through. BUT!
It's only fair since I railed on Fellowship that I take time to point out those things I did like about it. Here goes:
1) Liv certainly looks the part of Arwen. Her acting is debatable, and yes she didn't have such a big part in the book, but she is a wonder to the eyes.
2) Visuals. Tremendous. Sauron flinging men and elves alike far and wide. Good stuff, and New Zealand is spectacular.
3) Casting: I liked it, even Agent Smith a.k.a. Elrond.
4) Boromir! Towards the end, I was convinced PJ was gonna screw one of the most identifiable, troubled yet noble characters completely. But, he died as he should have, a true, sacrificial hero.
5) Hairy foot shots! Okay, maybe not......
6) Elves are presented as somewhat dark and despairing, as opposed to joyous and alive. Sweet! Recall, I am a Dwarf.

That's the best I can do. Truly. Comments welcomed! &
Long live the Dwarves! *ThorinOakenshield*

Some might disagree with the 'wonder to the eyes part'...:) Thanks, Thorin. I'm glad to know that there are some things you liked about FotR.

There are actually a few threads that already exist about favorite things in the FotR movie. Here (http://entmoot.tolkientrail.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2672) is one of them. Feel free to continue the discussion there; I'm going to go ahead and close this one.
