I've heard many of you talking about Hurin destroying the Haledin or Halethrim. I can't find this anywhere in the Silmarilion, so is it in one of the HOME books or something? Can it be found on the internet?

thanks all.

I can quote it for you if you like, but I don't believe you will otherwise find it on the internet. At any rate a complete online text of an entire book is illegal. It is in The Peoples of Middle-earth, Volume XII of the History of Middle-earth series, Late Writings, Of Dwarves of Men.

Thanks, is it consistent with The Silmarilion? Good read?

I didn't mean the book it was contained in just the part about Hurin and the Halethrim.

It is a very intriguing chapter, yes, I like it very much. As for the bit about Hurin and the Haladin and such, the big departure is that Turin returns in the Last Battle of the Wars of Beleriand and slays Ancalagon, instead of Earendil.

So the Wrath of Hurin isn't in the Silmarillion. No wonder I didn't know anything about it and thought the Haladin survived the First Age. (slaps my forehead)

All I know is he went into Doriath (how he got past Melian's Girdle?) and the Elves were terrified of him. When Thingol explained what really happened to his family, Hurin's spirit just broke.

Some of the Halethrim did flee to the Mouths of Sirion or some such place (maybe Arvernien), before the destruction of their kin in Brethil. But leaving the leadership of the House of Haleth they wouldn't strictly be Halethrim anymore, in a way. These survivors are the ones that went to Elenna and made with the rest of the Edain the realm of Numenore, but I think by the time they did they were merged with other peoples. The merging atleast occured early on in the history of the Second Age. So some of them, to speak truthfully, did survive.
