Which soundtrack do you prefer, TTT or FotR? I love some of the themes in TTT, such as the rohan theme; the elves at helms deep theme; Haldir's death.... but much of it is quite like FotR.... so Im not sure.

I liked the theme for Rohan. picking between the two? I don't think I can do that. TTT was pretty much an extension of the other one---they kind of flowed together, which was probably the point, come to thing of it.
I liked 'em both

Not sure, but I think Forth Eorlingas and Riders of Rohan are great (i downloaded them on Kazaa) and I love the bit of requiem for a dream they played for the trailer!

I love the soundtracks. To answer the question, I think the FotR soundtrack is more listenable as a single album than the TTT soundtrack. And the reason why, I think, is because of Enya, whose popularity is based on the very fact that she is so easy on the ears.
I am analyzing the soundtracks today, and I wonder which thread I should post my thoughts in.

I thought both of them were pretty mediocre Hollywoodland scores, but I definitely prefered the Two Towers because I felt he did capture the kinda woodish feel of Edoras with the strings during the early parts of the film. I kinda liked the fiddles in the Shire at the begining of FotR too.
But again, overall, IMO, neither film had much to offer as far as the score went.
One thing I did notice is that whoever put together the final TV spot before the film was released (or perhaps on the day of release in the US - the one with several shots of the wraiths on wings) did a great job! (IMO better than PJ!) S/he used bits of the score from Requiem for a Dream which is a glorious and original piece. A shame they didn't hire Clint Mansell to score the trilogy instead of Howard Shore. But I still thank the powers that be that they didn't get John Williams or James Horner! *whew*

I adore them both. FOTR is a bit more chilled than TTT but they're hard to compare. I think I prefer May It Be to Gollum's song but I'm still in search of the vocal score so I can plague my beloved singing teacher with LOTR music. Gollum's song is really atmospheric so I think I'll reel it out for one of my Isadora Duncan moments! Mx

I've never heard a "Hollywood score" that featured a boy's choir or women singing in Sindarin. It must be a bunch of Kiwis who like Tolkien. :p

I love both of them.
I like the "In dreams" song from the Fellowship track (I can't remember the exact title as *someone* (Looks at Varda) has my CD!) But I likle Gollum's song too. I think that they are both brilliant.

Fellowship.
I love the theme for Rohan; but gah, I'd take May It Be over that Gollum's song junk any day. Err . . . yeah. Sorry, but somehow that song just bugs me.
Of course, it might have something to do with the fact that Enya's awesome. But I'm biased from the start.
Nai anduniel sila elyenna . . . (Not that I recall the words)

Overall, though, I say definitely Fellowship.
(But you gotta love that leather-ish CD case!)

I like Enya in the first soundtrack, and May It Be was a cool song, but Gollum's song is really creepy, one of the reasons why I like it :)
The TT soundtrack won't play on my PC so I am without the music at this moment in time! That annoying "This program has performed an illigal operation and must be shut down" message keeps on coming up :(

My TTT one doesn't work properly on my PC either!
I can play the music ok! But you are ment to be able to see the trailer and get screensavers and wallpapers!
When i put it in the opening page comes up but when you click on anything only the wallpapers come up!
There are loads of things to look at! Say if i click on the trailer the wallpapers come up!

I really like Rhoans theme, and the Elves, but my favorite theme is right after Treebeard says 'It is possible we march to our doom! The last great march of the Ents!' Just watching that part of the movie give me an adrenalline rush!
