I know he has golden hair, but that's definatly not a complete discription. Finny thing is, he's my favorite character, but I haven't the foggiest idea how he looks!

How do you know Finrod has golden hair? I was under the impression that most Noldor were dark-haired.
OK, Glorfindel and Galadriel may be blond, but I thought blond Elves weren't the norm.

I know he has golden hair because he was Finarfin's son. If you look up Finarfin in the index of Silmarillion it says "Alone among the Noldorin princes he and his descendants had golden hair, derived from his mother, Indis, who was a Vanyarin Elf." I think there might be a reference to that in the book, but I can't remember where. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

If it doesn't say that specifically in The Silmarillion, he probably had blonde hair anyway. As Finrod (or Findarato) said, Finarfin's house had golden hair. His children inherited it from himself, who in turn inherited it from his mother, Indis of the Vanyar, the only Race of Elves stated to be generally fair haired.
I checked, yes, he did have golden hair. Peoples of Middle-earth, Shibboleth of Feanor: The Find- in Findarato* referred to hair, but in this case to the golden hair of this family derived from Indis.[/i]
*the second 'a' is long, but I can't figure out how to make the diacritic

This is my first reply. Finrod is my favorite character as well. I have attempted to draw him several times, but he never looks right when I am finished. He always comes out looking like a girl. To me, he is tall, fair of skin, grey eyes, and longer then shoulder length blond hair. Handsome, and noble.

Good, then we're thinking along the same lines. I've tried drawing him too, but - well - let's not even talk about my drawing skills. :p ;)

I'm in about the same position as u guys. I cannot draw the guy (this is more, however, due to the fact that I can't draw:p )... I just can't get what he looks like. I have a general idea, but it's so general. It could be applied to hundreds of people.
