Distances in M.E.

Okay, now that Sam's question has whetted my curiosity, what can some of you geniuses tell me about distances in Middle earth, say between the Shire and Weathertop, Gondor, and Mordor? I know people on horseback can cover about 30 miles a day, but I'm not sure about walkers.
