Not much longer to talk about "Fellowship of the Ring" movie! Were there any little "artistic devices" that moved you? What really stuck out for me was that scene in the prologue where Galadriel say's something about a shadow growing in the East, and they show the ripples in the dark water, vibrating out from the center. I think that is superb, and illustrates the growing evil perfectly! I also love the music right as they start the scene on the snowy mountain of Caradthras! Gives me shivers! What did you like?

I love how that, in the Extended Edition, the music matches Gandalf's rendition of The Road Goes Ever On. I'm sure some more little 'nice touches' will come to me next time I watch the movie.
I thought that was a great little shot too, Lizra, with the dark, ripple-y water. There's lots of good little shots like that scattered throughout the movie, but that's one of my favorite "little" ones.

The MUSIC! That's really what made it for me. Of course, I'm a muso - I play French Horn and used to learn piano - but I thought it was really good.

ooo french horn, ive always wanted to play that, but it's big. well, anythings bigger than my flute. haha ...
you would be a good candidate for the sheet music, lanelf, i always love those parts, at first i thought it might be baritone or maybe a sax.. i dunno. i haven't been in band for so long!

the music got to me as well, but the scenery is the thing that really got to me. I sat there in the movie theater with my mouth wide open. It was awesome. I know thats probably not a little thing but that is the thing that got to me.

OOO more music ppl! The really beautiful parts are when the boys choirs are singing. OMG!! When they're panning over Isengard and they focus in on the moth thingy (?) WOW I love that part. After Gandalf "dies"/"falls" when the Fellowship is mourning, wow again. I loved the falls of Parth Galen, and how they did that too.

Yes, the ripples in the water was good. I love the Nazguls' horses rearing up in the yard in Bree when Aragorn is talking. Also the misty landscape shot when the horse moves in from the right of the screen.......so menacing

I really liked the peice where Boromir picks up the ring by the chain on the mountain top and says something about " such a little thing blah blah " and the ring gives a little jump, and when it does it a second time I was in heaven - strange how such a little thing can make me happy !:)

Yes, The gold looks so icy cold in the snow. The lighting is just right, it has that overly crisp, cold feeling of a ski day! The ring on the chain looks very special there!

Me too! It's a great scene, Sean Bean at his best. I also loved the look he gave Aragorn in the Council after he said: "...Gondor needs no King."

The music of course, especially when they are going down the river, and when they all first arrive in Rivendell (many meetings on the soundtrack). Also when Gandalf drops the ring in Frodo's hand and his hand sort of drops making the ring look really heavy, and how slimy and weird the black horses were, and how the ring would talk, like right before (i think) Boromir starts talking about the ring, it whispers "the doom of men" which i thought was really cool!

I really liked the way the Ring shrunk when Isildur was holding it, so that it would fit his hand. That was so well-done!

Ah! I knew I'd think of something else. I like how the Ring doesn't bounce when Bilbo drops it at Bag End before starts his journey. I also like how the Ring 'whispers' when Gandalf is explaining its origins to Frodo at the table in Bag End.

The bright, bright light after Moria is WOW, as is the rocky place they come out of, perfect! I liked the "silent treatment" too. The sadness and shock was very loud!

I liked how the ring didn't bounce at Bag-End, too. In the commentary they say how they actually used a magnet under the floor so that it wouldn't bounce. I thought that was cool.

I like the shot in Rivendell when Frodo says that he will take the ring to Mordor. There is a shot of Gandalf's face, or more of his eyes, and so much emotion is shown. It is really amazing, I think, that so much emotion is shown and without any words to explain it. I think that is it good anyway.

I wasn't keen on the Nazgul's horses - they looked like they'd been swimming in molasses or something.:p I thought Gollum was really cool, though - if he counts as a small thing. I guess he is diminuitive, but whatever. I loved how in Moria, he looks through that square thing and his eyes do that cat-like glow...:)

Yeah, He looked intense! The way Gandalf made those pipe puffing sounds, right after Bilbo leaves, makes me want to "toke" a pipe! :D

There were lots of little parts I liked, I liked when the ring didn't bounce at bag end and I thought that the expression of Gandalf when Frodo said he would take it was funny.

I liked the look on Frodo's face when he heard the ring whisper at bad end - it was so funny.

That was funny! He had a look of disgust on his face!
Someone has probably said this but when Boromir is holding the Ring and looking at it u can see the ring twitching! That looks pretty cool!

I thought that it was more like a look of "Did that ring just talk? Eh?"
hehehe
I love the twitching ring, so cool.

I also like the look of Pippin's face when he has just knocked the body down the well in Moria.

I like the attention to the costumes: i.e. Gil-galads brooch/heraldry, in a scene less then 2 seconds.
The immense silence when the arrows hit Boromir. You feel the pain in those still moments.
PJ out did him self with the little things. :p

Bilbo's birthday cake was something! It looked delicious! :) How did those candles burn so long! The ones I put on Bday cakes always drip wax all over in less than a minute!

Oh I have another one! I think this is going to happen alot because the little things you tend to forget about.
The scene of the Last Alliance. I love that when you see the aerial view (just before Sauron explodes) you can tell Elvin army from Human army by the color of their armor. I believe Elves were gold and Men were Silver.

I like how the ring whispers 'Elessar, Ellesar" when Aragorn confronts Frodo at Amon Hen. I liked the trolls in the background just after Frodo is stabbed by the nazgul blade. But in the extended edition, Sam talks about the trolls! I liked it better if he didn't mention the trolls, so the people who had read the book would get it.

I like how Arwen appears bright when Frodo first sees her. He is going into the wraith world and sees her on another level.

I like how the "invisable" world is shown, all hazy and surreal.
Turgon

I actually didn’t like the invisible world bit. I think it would have been cooler if Frodo hadn’t even known he was invisible (at first) as the books intended. But these are the movies and the imagery all gray and fuzzy was interesting.
Ërendil

I thought that it was really clever the way they showed that, because the books said that when invisable the persons vision lessened and the other senses became clearer (or something along those lines)

it was a bit overdone.

Yeah! The water thingy was cool.
I always thought that was in/near Mirkwood because Galadriel's saying, "..shadow in the east.." or something like that. I assumed she meant Dol Guldor.

They did an awesome job on making gollum look real, but I think he should have been slimier and wet looking, with paler (yellowish) eyes. And a bit thinner too; I pictured him as being much more skeletal as I read the book. Another thing is the way his aside was comical...it certainly wasn't in the book. But it was nice to have that little humor, and they really portray the inner battle within Gollum well.
