I was watching FOTR on my PC (which when you watch a DVD on it zooms in closer that normal and cuts the edge off the picture) and i noticed that at the Council Of Elrond when Gimli says something like "I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of an elf!" he spits when he says "elf!" manners Gimli!
And to back it up, when you see shots of Legolas, the whole council, Boromir and Legolas again, it goes back to Gimli who has spit all round his mouth!

I wouldn't have noticed this if I was watching LOTR on my normail DVD player, I'll tell you that!

Elf.Freak,
That's kind of disgusting I would have never relized that before if you hadn't told me I'll make sure to look for that when I watch it!

Hey Coney,
I know what you mean about us seeing creatures being decapitated and sliced up but it is kind of (Kind of meaning only a little) gross! But don't worry i get what you mean and I have seen Titanic.

Oh cummon! You have to do all this fancy stuff to the movie to see Gimli spit. With "A Knights Tale" Heath Ledger spits RIGHT there in a closeup...that's on the VHS.
But yeah at least he wasn't picking his nose or something.
Cheers,
Sam

There was a problem with the actor who plays Gimli was allergic to the Make-up he had to wear and it made him disorientated and his eyes and mouth puffed up so thats probably why he spat. I'ts quite reasonable everybody spits sometimes and can't help it!

Don't forget that Gimli might have been a girl

That would have been a pretty well kept secret, considering he was introduced as Gimli son of Gloin.

A friend of mine just watched a movie called "My big Fat Greek Wedding".

During the wedding, they spit on the bride with special emphasis on the "ptuh" sound. They say it keeps the evil spirits out.
