Whilst reading TotalFilm magazine, I came across this statement from LOTR executive producer, Mark Orodskey:

" ....he knows that the Elves 1,000 year reign has ended"

WHAT? The Noldor, came into M-E, 7-8 thousand years, whilst the Sindar, Silvan and Nandorian elves ahd been here for 10 thousand years plus. The elves had not 'reigned' over M-E since the breaking of the alliance and the , 3 thousand odd years beofre, and even then men still had a lot of power. You'd think that they would hire a executive producer, with SOME form of Middle-Earth knowledge.

Here's a definition from the Internet Movie Database:

Executive Producer, AKA: Executive in Charge of Production - A producer who is not involved in any technical aspects of the filmmaking process, but who is still responsible for the overall production. Typically an executive producer handles business and legal issues.

So I would say an exec can be totally ignorant of the script as long as he does his own job and especially if he has a big wallet.

But I agree, he sounds like he only knows the story from someone telling it to him. Fortunately there are two execs and he is listed second.

But where on earth did he or anyone else get 1,000 years from?

remember TT strays far farther from the book than FoTR. Much farther. For instance evil Faramir

oh dear god.
i hope he doesn't stray too far from the real story, or he better not stray too far from his home because i'll be wating in the bushes.

either that, or i'll just have to join BoP and her bopping stick.
